Replace iCloud Drive in Finder

My lady accidentally removed iCloud Drive from her Finer menu.  How do we get it back.
Dave

To get iCloud Drive back in the Finder sidebar, open a Finder window, go to Finder menu (in the menu bar) -> Preferences -> Sidebar, and tick "iCloud Drive".

Can I add a family members Icloud drive to my finder  thus having 2 Icloud drives in finder.

No.  The only iCloud drive that will show in the Finder is the one associated with the iCloud account for that user account.

Upgraded to Yosemite- iCloud Drive in Finder works, no documents in iCloud web, not documents in iPad or iPhone- both upgraded to IOS 8

Well I just fixed this, by sheer luck.
I did a restart of my MacBook Pro, and after it restarted iCloud was visible and accessible in Finder.
It seems all that it needs is a system restart.

  • Why can't I see iCloud drive in finder

Although I updated my Mac with Yosemite I am unable to see iCloud drive in Finder. Now what?

Go to the Finder Preferences and enable iCloud Drive to be shown in the Finder's sidebar:
Then you'll be able to access it via:

  • Viewing iCloud Drive in Finder

When I open iCloud Drive in the Finder I HAVE seen folders for the apps that can save files to iCloud Drive and files within them that I have saved there. But usually all I see in iCloud Drive is a folder "iCloud Drive Upgrade - Recovered Documents".
Relaunching Finder SOMETIMES fixes it but even when it does it doesn't last. Same for restarts.
    Why is this?

finder menu > preferences > toolbar (not sure how it's called I'm in french)
then you should be able to select what stuff you want in the toolbar

  • ICloud Drive Not Finding Latest Revision

Is anyone else having issues with iCloud Drive not pulling updated versions of Numbers files?
It's getting to the point where the service is so friggin' unreliable that I have to check every single file on my iPhone prior to using it on my Macbook because iCloud Drive just seems to refuse to pull the latest revision of a file in Yosemite. I'm fine as long as the last time I updated the file was on the Macbook, but if I update it on my desktop, on iCloud.com, or on any of my iOS devices, the Macbook won't ever find the newer versions of the file.
The only success I have is turning iCloud Drive off (allowing the files to be deleted from my system) then turning iCloud Drive back on. This will pull the latest versions only there's no way to prioritize the order of the files or which files to sync so it can take an hour or more to get everything back onto my system so that I can open it.
Any ideas short of dumping iCloud Drive and using a reliable service like Dropbox?
    Tim

    Hey Tim Klein,
Thanks for the question. I too would be just as frustrated if my documents were not staying up-to-date when using iCloud drive. It sounds like you have found an applicable work around, but let’s see if we can actually resolve this issue.

  • Nothing happens when i click on iCloud drive in finder

I turned on iCloud drive in my system prefs. I can see it in the sidebar in finder, but when i click on "iCloud drive" in sidebar nothing happens. i also dragged a file onto it and nothing happened

Try to restart the Mac, if iCloud drive is greyed out.

  • Can't open documents or images in iCloud Drive

In an effort to stop using a competing cloud service and keep everything in iCloud Drive, I moved all my folders from OneNote to iCloud Drive in Finder. In iCloud Drive online there is no problem...every folder is there along with all the files and everything is fine.
That said, when I try to access any of the files, images, or documents on my iPhone or iPad, they're mostly all greyed out. I go to any iWork app, click on the "+" icon at the top left, then select "iCloud". This brings up my iCloud Drive UI and all the folders are there...but they're all greyed out. If I try to tap or scroll in that UI it closes and kicks me back to the home folder of whatever iWork app I was using (Pages or Numbers).
If I can't access documents, text files, PDFs, and images in iCloud Drive on my iOS, what good is it? I might as well go back to Microsoft OneDrive and their supporting Office apps which actually work great in iOS with the most recent updates. I'm just trying to stay within the Apple ecosystem and it's difficult to do. Thanks for any suggestions.

    Welcome to the Apple forums
Looking back through some notes I made, Pages '05 doesn't work well in Snow Leopard. Even '06 has some limitations when opening Word files.
I suggest getting a newer version. I think it is likely we will see updated versions of the iWork apps when the Mac App Store goes live. I suggest you download the iWork '09 trial which you can use for 30 days. In the meantime you can find legal copies of iWork '08 or '09 at greatly reduced prices through Amazon.com or on eBay.

  • Turn iCloud Drive off without file deletion?

    Hi,
I accidentally turned iCloud Drive on because I was trying to get Mail Drop work (I was not successful).
Now, I wanted to sign out of my iCloud, but this appeared:
    What do I do?
I was not signed in before and was completely fine with it.
Also, I have one more discussion open if you could help (restore i Tunes library from external hard drive back-up performed by TimeMachine):
Re: How to restore iTunes library from TimeMachine external hard drive backup after clean install

Look in the iCloud Drive in Finder, keep this simple. Close the box that is open, you are not ready to sign out yet.

  • ICloud drive disk still full AFTER upgrading to 1TB storage space

    Hello,
I just bought the $19.99/month 1TB iCloud storage plan so that I can back up all 800GB of my iMac data to my iCloud Drive. However, when I drag and drop my files over to my iCloud Drive in Finder, it says disk full. Am I doing something wrong? There should definitely be more than enough room. I have also checked to make sure my storage plan was indeed upgraded correctly in iCloud management and there is definitely a full 1TB of available space.
I have even tried backing up my files to my iCloud Drive using Time Machine. My understanding was that with the Yosemite 10.10.2 update, iCloud Drive should now show in Time Machine's preferences as a back up drive option. But after upgrading to 10.10.2, I still do not see it in there as an option.
    Please help!
    Thanks in advance.
    Kit

So is there no way of not creating the shadow copy on my local machine also?
No, iCloud Drive is meant for the working copies of your documents - to store them on a central location in iCloud and update them on all your devices. The shadow copies are there, to guarantee, that you can access the documents, when you are offline.  See:  iCloud Drive FAQ
Sounds like using Time Machine to backup a single copy to my iCloud Drive would achieve this right? But as I said in my original post, I'm not seeing iCloud Drive as a back up target disk option in preferences.
Time Machine can backup your iCloud Drive, but it cannot backup to iCloud drive. Perhaps you misunderstood, what the latest Yosemite update meant for Time Machine:  (see this link:
About the OS X Yosemite v10.10.2 Update - Apple Support)
Adds the ability to browse iCloud Drive in Time Machine
This means, that you can now restore your iCloud Documents from Time Machine more easily, because you can browse them, but Time Machine cannot store backups on iCloud Drive.

  • ICloud Drive shows 'Encrypted Folder' and 'Encrypted File' instead of correct folder and files names

On my 2014 MBA (10.10.2), I added a group of folders and files to iCloud Drive in Finder by dragging and dropping.  I do not use disk encryption.  The files are of various types (mostly jpeg/pdf, and a few docx).  I can see the files when I login to iCloud.com, they are not showing as encrypted.  But on my iPad2 8.2 the folders and files show as Encrypted Files and Folders (Settings-iCloud-Storage-Manage Storage-Other Documents (under Documents and Data).  I have tried opening these with "authorized apps" on the iPad2, but the apps don't see these files.  Two questions: 1. Why are these showing as encrypted, i have no idea what is on the iPad2?; and 2. Once I can get an answer to 1., will I be able to open these jpeg and pdf files on the iPad2.  Thanks.

Sorry we aren't communicating.  This doesn't have anything to do with a program being associated with the file.  No regular app can open an encrypted file.  Here is the final outcome.  For some reason, after 2 days, these files now show up as unencrypted files in iCloud Drive on the iPad.  That is they now match up by name and extension with what I have on the MBA in Finder.  There is no explanation except that iCloud Drive is buggy.

  • Open videos stored in iCloud drive

I have some exercises videos stored in my iCloud drive folder. How do I open those on my iPhone??

    Hi Dcneuro,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you have videos stored in iCloud drive and would like to access those on your iPhone. To access those videos, they would need to be synced to your iPhone. You are not able to access this content from iCloud drive on an iOS device. For more information, please review the attached article.

  • Browse icloud drive on ios device?

Is there a way to browse the files and folders of my iCloud drive from my ios device, without opening a specific app like pages, or numbers?
I am looking to browse and open PDF's mostly. I am just wondering if there is an Apple app out there that gives similar accessibility as drop-box or how the old mac file sharing system worked where you could access all you files in the directory from any device.
It seems like the icloud drive is great for files from apple apps, but for everything else it is a bit more cumbersome to access the file directory on ios devices.
    thanks!

  • ICloud drive recently disappeared from MacPro (OS X Yosemite v10.10.2).

On my MacPro - when I click on the iCloud drive in Finder - there are no files anymore. This just happened recently & I haven't updated my OS.
I'm running iTunes match. When I load music into iTunes on MacPro it shows them waiting for the cloud. At the top right side is a cloud with gray lines running through it. When I download a song onto my iPhone - it does copy over to Mac. Entries made in Calendar show up immediately on iPhone.
Also I no longer see an icon where i can even log into iCloud - it used to be on Launchpad I think.

Use Software Update (under the Apple menu at the top left of the display) to upgrade using the 10.6.8 "Combo" update. This avoids all of the intermediate upgrades steps.

  • Icloud drive icon

    Hello,
upgraded to IOS 8 on all my devices yesterday, waited for iCloud Drive to become available on one of my PC's. It's now setup and running on a Windows laptop... (Interesting that it becomes available on Windows before Mac...)
I can see the folder in File Explorer, in iCloud on the web, but no way to access it on any of my IOS devices???
Should there not be an icon available? I'm already paying for additional storage, but I can travel with my iPad because I don't hhave access to my files???
Is it just just me or did I not set something properly?
