Replace .Mac contacts?

My contacts within the .Mac Address book have been corupted. There are many duplicates and errors. I have a good set of contacts on my Laptop within the Adrees Book application. How can I completely erase the corrupted .Mac contacts and replace them with the Address Book data from my laptop? The problem is that when I begin deleting contacts from .Mac, I get a warning that doing so will also delete the contacts from my computer!

You need to reset the data on .Mac, but the procedures are specific to either iSync 1.5 under Mac OS X 10.3.9 or earlier, or .Mac Sync under Mac OS X 10.4 or later. Without knowing which one you are using, I cannot describe the one process you should perform.

  • How can I replace ALL Contacts on the iPhone with my MobileMe Contacts?

I have removed all duplicates in AddressBook on my various Macs and have uploaded the master copy to MobileMe. I would now like to replace all Contacts on my iPhone with that MobileMe master.
I have followed the steps in the KB article for syncing the iPhone but when I get to the step of turning on the iPhone Settings for the Contacts it looks like the sync wants to merge the contacts. Of course, I do not want to "merge" since that will reintroduce all those duplicates.
I suppose I could manually delete each of the the hundreds of contacts that are on my phone until it is empty ... and then turn on the iPhone setting for Contacts. That way it will have no option other than "add." But surely there is a more efficient way.
(FWIW, when I turned OFF the setting for the Calendar it did empty the iPhone's calendar, which is what I wanted. But it didn't do that for the Contacts -- I turned that setting off but I was not asked if I wanted to keep or toss the Contacts. They are all still on the phone.)
This is an OG iPhone, if that matters.

Brilliant! That worked like a charm.
I created a new User Account on one of my Macs and logged into it. I connected my iPhone to its iTunes and checked my iPhone's Sync Contacts option in iTunes. Since that account's address book was basically empty (two dummy contacts, one for Apple and one for this new user), I ended up with only those two Contacts on the phone. Then, going back to my real User account (which does not have syncing turned on in iTunes) the phone synced nicely with the MobileMe account and populated the phone with all the MobileMe contacts and groups.

  • Merging iPhone contacts with Mac Contacts

I typically create and modify contacts on my iPhone (iOS 6.1.3). However, I have some of the same or similar contacts in my Mac Contacts application (Yosemite). How can I merge the contacts from my iPhone onto my Mac, so the incomplete address cards on the laptop will have the info from the iPhone. The support material all seems to say that if I try syncing them, my iPhone's contacts will be replaced by the Mac contacts... I sync everything manually, and have always had contact syncing turned off.
I'm afraid to try syncing, and maybe lose the additional information I've added to people's cards on my iPhone.

I can't be 100% sure on that. However, what I do know is that it will be a backup of your most recent info. Therefore, any new apps, new contacts, emails, etc. since your last backup would get added. So if you have to restore and you select the backup date, you should get everything from that backup. I've relied on iPhone backups many times in the past and they've all worked just great. Will simply require some time if you have a lot of apps and info that need to be restored.

  • Can i sync my iCloud contacts with, all my mac contacts in Contacts?

  • Contact card format incompatibility between Outlook for Mac and Mac contacts

Seems that Mac Office 2011 Outlook contacts no longer directly sync with iPhone, I use a manual process of dragging the vcf file from my Outlook contacts list to a desktop folder and then dragging the contact from that folder to my Mac Contacts file. Even though Mac contacts file accepts the file, sometimes information is missing and the contact data won't go to the icloud and thence post to my iPhone. It's as if the .vcf format from Outlook isn't a match for the .vcf file format that Mac Contacts expects. Many times I have to manually copy the contact data from the outlook contact into a new contact file in Mac Contacts to get that contact to sync across iCloud to my iPhone. Can anyone tell me what the problem might be?

    Hello,
Open both in Text Wrangler, 2nd line should show version, are they the same?
What are the differences beyond there?
Do some Outlook entries have some separators in the entry, like : or ; that may be throwing off the fields?

  • Having been without my Mac for a month I've been using iCloud mail. The new mail boxes that I set up there do not automatically show up in Mail on my replacement Mac. Is there any way to transfer them from ICloud mail to Mail?

Having been without my Mac for a month I've been using iCloud mail.on a PC. The new mail boxes that I set up there do not automatically show up in Mail on my replacement Mac. Is there any way to transfer them from ICloud mail to Mail? Thanks.

sure pretty simple.  make a backup of your current settings
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766?viewlocale=en_US
then restore device from old backup you need pics off of
    then import pics to computer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083
you may need to save pics to camera roll first
then restore the new backup and sync pics back to phone via itunes

  • Mac OS 10.9.1(Maverick) + Blackberry Desktop Software 2.4.0 build 18 and Blackberry Curve 9320 - unable to sync Mac contacts nor calendars

    this is so frustrating!
I upgraded to mac OS 10.9.1 a few months ago.  I can no longer sync my mac contacts nor calendars onto my Blackberry Curve - this is my business phone.
I've hunted and hunted around for a solution and have got nowhere, other than a very long convoluted method which requires me to back-up my mac contacts, go into various files and change things ... all very risky.  I appreciate that Mac have done the dirty by seeminly removing iSync and unabling Sync Services in the normal sense of the word, but I would've thought that Blackberry by now would have come up with a work around?
Can I export the data and import it into the phone somehow?  or Has anyone got a viable solution?  If not the blackberry is going in the bin and I will get a smart phone that does "talk" to my mac.
    Many thanks

I have the same problem, and a supervisor Apple Support guy just told me (23 jan 14), after 2 days of searching, that it is impossible to sync a BB with Mavericks...
I am furious too : it is just like if Apple would be telling plainly that an iPhone cannot phone to a BB...!

  • How can I sync the Mac contacts app with my friends Facebook photos?

    Hi,
I have an iPhone 5 and and iPad so I'm not to new to Apple products, however i did just get my first MacBook (I'm in love!) I have a question, is it possible to sync the Mac Contacts app with Facebook so that my friends Facebook photos will show up in the Mac Contacts app like they do on my iPhone or iPad? When I use iMessage on my Mac I would like my friends FB picture to pop up, would someone mind to walk me through this process?
    Thanks!

If calendar events are not syncing from the iPhone to iCal on your mac, try Resetting the Sync History as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TA23030
Then enable calendar syncing in iTunes and choose the Merge option on the initial sync.
This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2481 provides additional advanced troubleshooting tips that may help, if the issue persists.

  • How do I sync my 'on my mac' contacts to contact in iCloud?

Can somebody help me sync or transfer my contacts from 'on my mac' contacts (which I got by syncing it with google contacts) to iCloud so that all my apple devices will have the same contacts please.
Or better yet, here's my current situation: I recently bought a new iPhone coming from using a blackberry. I have transfered my contacts from my old phone to the iphone via google exchange. It seems that when I delete my google mail exchange account from my mail apps in the iphone, all contacts will be deleted as well. How do I make those contacts synced with google permanent or stay in the iphone? Next, how can I transfer those contacts to my macbook?
Any help will be highly appreciated.
    Thank you

Here's a link I used to fix the same problem I had. Hope it helps. Good luck

  • 'Show Mac Contacts' creates duplicates

NOT SOLVED AS OF  - July 10, 2015 Does ANYONE know how to solve this issue:   Checking the 'Show Mac Contacts' in Skype Preferences creates duplicates of all my address book contacts.  I've searched the forums and there is a moderator who has offered a 'solution' to this on a similiar threads:http://community.skype.com/t5/Mac/Duplicate-Mac-contacts-in-Skype/td-p/2034871However many people, including myself, have responded that the problem has not been solved. Yet any similiar questions have been archived and this answer given as a solution. Anyone have a sloution??  Thanks for taking the time to read, and possibly offer a solution to all the users who are encountering this problem. :

I am using Outlook 2007 on my PC.
I am not using Mobile Me; rather I am running the sync on my PC using iTunes. The duplicates were on both my iPhone and my computer, but they didn't always appear to be identical. It is somewhat complicated by the fact that I use Plaxo to update my contacts folder(s) on my PC.
I worked with Plaxo to combine all contacts folders, and then I went through each item and deleted all duplicates. Then I synced with my phone, and finally got it down to one unduplicated list. This was tedious, since I have over 1,000 contacts.
Now I am getting ready to sync, and I am not sure what to check on the sync menu. It asks whether I want contacts added on the phone synced to my Collected Contacts folder. Why add it to a separate folder instead of my main contacts folder? Does this add a separate item that you then use to update the main folder?
Thank you and sorry for all the questions.

  • Synchronizing outlook with mac contacts, notes, tasks and calander

I ahve all the settings for synchronizing beetween mac contacts, calendar etc....Why is it not sybchronizing with outlook?

    Hi,
How did you configure your email account in Outlook 2013? Via POP or via IMAP?
To synchronize Outlook's Contacts, Calendar, Tasks and Notes depends on your smartphone. If you are using an Outlook.com account, we can configure your email account via Exchange ActiveSync which is capable of synchronizing E-mail, Calendar, Contacts and
Tasks folders. If you are using another email service, you can switch to the Outlook.com email service and
keep your current email address. For more information, please refer:
    http://www.msoutlook.info/question/18
Seems another way to sync your outlook Contacts, Calendar, Tasks and Notes is to use Kies. If you are not familiar with the tool, please check the link below and see if it helps:
    http://www.samsung.com/us/support/faq/FAQ00052710/61344
Since this feature depends on your smartphone and we can do few things in this forum, it's better to contact your phone
supplier to get further assistance. Thanks for the understanding.

  • Skype 7.0 adds country code to Mac contact phone n...

[Topic title updated by moderator to be more descriptive. Original topic title was: "Re: New Skype for Mac 7.0"]
I recently upgraded my Mac to version 7.0.
When I opened my contacts, I noticed that all of my contact numbers now had the country code +64 added to almost every phone number! I live in New Zealand (the code is +64) but most of my Skype contacts are all overseas in other countries.
Of course, there is no way for me to edit the numbers directly now in Skype. I am supposed to fix this in my Mac contacts but these are correct. It is Version 7.0 that completely goofed my contacts up!!!   Grrrrrrr......
How do I fix this problem? Otherwise, I will have to delete all of my contacts and re-enter them with the correct country codes.
Most irritating. I should be able to edit in Skype but this is impossible. Looking forward to a quick reply because this is a huge mess to fix.
    Thank you.

My contact numbers worked fine in the last version. This version 7.0 simply just added the default country code across my entire contact list containing many different country codes already.
This is really a monumental problem for those of us in international business with a wide-range of contacts across the globe.
I now have to go through my entire Mac contacts and delete or modify every single contact to ensure each one is correct.
I totally regret upgrading to Version 7.0.
One more thing: Who came up with the oscillating picture icon when connecting to a contact? It is really annoying. Its one of those weird visual things that will set off an epileptic seizure. We don't need such features...get rid of it. All I need is to see the word "Connecting."

  • Phone contacts and Mac contacts

My husband needed Verizon so just recently got the iPhone although I've had mine from the beginning. The Verizon people transferred all his contacts that he manually entered to his old phone, to the iPhone. We also have a huge list of contacts that are synced to all our computers and MobileMe. I know many of his will be duplicates of our Mac contacts but that's okay if I can make his contacts a separate group which he'll select and I will de-select ... but will this be possible when we first sync?
Has anyone tried merging two sets of contacts and then separate them via groups? Is there another way?
    Thanks!

Since you've been so helpful maybe you can steer me in the right direction for me to truly understand the difference (if any) between syncing (between mobile me, my phones, pads and macs) via iTunes settings & device settings and via the mobileme sync preferences & sync now. I've never understood it and I just want everything to have the same contacts and calendars on it but it seems the mobileme sync preferences thing always give me (more than 25%) error messages or tons of duplicates even after I reset sync data. Is there anywhere that explains it? I've been trying to understand it for years!!
MobileMe is a conglomerate of services, one of which is synchronizing between all your iOS devices (iPad, iPhone) and your Mac. It keeps your data "in the cloud" (a buzz term that has been thrown around lately that really means remotely on Apple's servers, not locally on your computer). MobileMe allows you to have all your data current by comparing it with it's master copy on their servers.
iTunes is used for synchronizing your iOS devices only. For those who do not have MobileMe, they can use iTunes to sync their contacts over the USB cable. All data is stored locally (not in the cloud) on that person's computer. If you are using MobileMe already and sync your iPhone in iTunes, it will not even look at your contacts or calendars as it knows you are using MobileMe for this. Think of iTunes and MobileMe as a one of the other thing - not both (in terms of data syncing).
When you "sync now" from the MobileMe preferences it is just referring to syncing your Mac, not your iOS devices. Syncing of MobileMe data on iOS is handled directly through the device itself. As for the 25% error message, that is a threshold that you have set up to alert you that it is about to change a significant portion of your data and a friendly warning asking if you're sure you want to proceed. Before I can suggest how to proceed, which has the most accurate, up to date data? Your Mac or Me.com?

  • Duplicate Mac contacts in Skype

In my Skype contacts, all the contacts from my Mac address book (which is a sync with my Gmail account) are duplicated.  If I untick the "show mac contacts" option in Skype, they all disappear as expected, but re-ticking that box brings them all back twice. I've searched around and seen a few others with the same problem, but no explanation or solution yet.  Any thoughts?  Anyone else experience this?

This is how contacts work at the moment. If you tick the box to see your Mac Contacts, they show up in the contact list, but they don't merge with your Skype or Facebook contacts. There are different contact groups, which you can see above the contact list itself. "Skype" will give you only Skype contacts, whereas "Address Book" will give you only AB contacts. But if you're looking at the "All" list, then yes, you will see duplicates.
