Replace mode not functioning?

For some reason, replace mode is not "replacing" old audio on any given track. This used to work for me all of the time. Typically I would set up an autodrop zone, place the SPL before it, and put the transport into replace mode. Once I hit record the segment that was selected in the autodrop would disappear and the new audio would take it's place. Right now there is no difference in the way Logic is handling normal record mode vs Replace mode. I've deleted preferences and repaired permissions. Has any one run into this before? I have a feeling it's pilot error, but have been unable to find a solution.

Justin, you are absolutely right. I was having the same problem with "replace mode" I went back and saw that the problem did not exist in Logic 6. Whenever I use the templates in 7.1.1 that's when the problems occur. When I use my Autoload I have no problem. So Yes, I can verify the same finding. I wonder if 7.2 has addressed and fixed this problem.
Anyone out there using 7.2 please let us know if the "replace mode" bug has been fixed, thank, ric

Have you checked the Mute button? Have you checked the volume settings? What happens if you attempt to turn up the volume with the side buttons, what do you see displayed on the screen?

In what way is it not functioning properly? If you go to System Preferences > Energy Saver are the sleep mode times where you want them? When you logout, do you then click Sleep or do you let the iMac go to sleep according to the settings? Do you have trouble coming out of sleep mode?

Sleep Mode not functioning correctly after Mac OSX 10.6.5 update

I have a Macbook Model Identifier 5,1. (1st gen Alum Macbook). I notice that after I updated to 10.6.5, I have a problem going to sleep mode. When I click on sleep, it will blacken the screen but the LED screen still glows. Usually, it glows for a few second and then the LED powers down so it will be completely dark. Now it just hangs there. I have to use the power down fucntion by pressing it for 4 seconds.
I tried disk utility repair permissions. ANy suggestions?

I have similar problem with MacBook White Identifier 6.1. I have update 10.6.5 and I have a lot of problems with my MacBook. This problem is one of them. My MacBook also often show message Kernel Panic and I can use only power button. It is not good when arrange photos or do other things.
Update 10.6.4 was very good. I didn't have any problem. If I have version 10.6.5, can I return to version 10.6.4?

GPU mode not functioning, using ATI HD3870 or ATI HD3200.

When I run Pixel Bender in GPU mode, on either my desktop computer or my laptop, image loading fails with the following message:
"Error loading file: mandelbrot.png" (same problem with the other example files, and also for other jpg and png files).
and when I try to exit the program after failing to load an image, Windows 7 tells me it stopped responding.
When I run it in CPU mode, this problem disappears.
I think this is strange because I thought the HD3200(onboard graphics chip) or at least the HD3870 were supported.
Both my Desktop computer and my laptop are running Windows 7 64-bit.

GT60-0NC Turbo Mode not functioning

My drivers are up to date. I also installed S-Bar and MSI VGA Overclck Tool. When I press the turbo button, "turbo on" message pops up. But 2-3 seconds later "turbo off" message pops up automatically. Why does it happen?

Widgets Do Not Function in Browser, Only in Preview Mode.

I created a lightbox and a tabbed section on separate pages, and the wodgets do not function when I test in browser or or open html conversions in a browser. They test fine in preview mode.

Actually, the problem seems to be Explorer. Works fine in Safari. Frequently have to insert fixes for special problems in IE. Are there any fixes for IE's peculiar problems?
Also works fine in Mozilla FF & Chrome. Mulitple problems in IE with display, and Widgets are completely non-functional.

I am referring to the attached files, which are a Muse site conversion to html. I have had problems in the past emailing web info, so if you want me to ftp the files somewhere, I can do that. These pages have not been published yet.
The two pages in question are in the file. If you open them in IE, the widgets do not function. In the index page, the text in the New & Events area to the right are Lightbox links. In the cottages page, you can see the slide show in the main middle are and the tabs on the right in the shadow box.
The side show works off and on. The lightbox (index) and tabs (cottages) do not function at all. There are no error messages. IE does not indicate working links (no finger).
As I believe you know, IE has problems displaying things that other browsers do not. Dreamweaver templates, for example, include a blockquote instruction for html5 that is needed for IE to display certain items properly. Since the pages will function normally in Safari, Mozilla FF and Google Chrome, I conclude there is a problem with IE.

INSERT key does not toggle INSERT/REPLACE mode

The INSERT key does not toggle between Insert and Replace mode. The enterabled items are always in insert mode. Does anyone know how to fix this?
I'm using Forms 6i 6.0.8.17.1, web-deployed on Solaris 2.6 (64 bit).

You can use a pluggable Java Component to do this and there is an example in the Forms 9i demos.

Preview Mode - Full is not functioning

View -> Preview Mode - > Full is supposed to let you
see the rest of the stage in full color when editing inside a movie
clip. That seems to not function. Instead the rest of the stage is
still ghosted out after you double-click a movie clip to edit it.

Shape modes Expand button not functioning

Just installed CS4.
When I merge object using the shape modes line in the Pathfinder palette the objects are not dynamically merged but rather merged as when I use the 'Merge' command from the 'pathfinders' line.
This means the button 'expand' is not functioning either since the objects are already expanded automatically.
Does anyone have the same problem and is this a bug or am I missing something?

And I was not arguing with your preference. (I don't share it, but you're enttitled to it.) You said Add To Shape and Merge do the same thing:

They don't, and so the presence of both of them is not silly.
You seem to think that the Shape Mode buttons are supposed to be just "live" versions of the Pathfinder buttons. They aren't. The Shape Modes are four basic set operations (union, subtract, intersection, difference), and can be applied as live or not. The Pathfinders are
additional operations (each with its own set of sometimes bizarre behavioral caveats), and cannot be applied as live effects.
But their being able to be applied as live effects, and whether live or expanded is default is immaterial as to whether one is superfluous or not.
Merge Pathfinder is NOT the same thing as Add To Shape Area expanded. The two only happen to result in the same thing under the special circumstance of same-filled unstroked paths. Merge (its inability to handle strokes notwithstanding) is an important path operation for things very different from the purpose of Add To Shape Area.

CS4 Show tool tips not functioning in adjustment mode

Show Tool Tips function is not functioning(no display) in any adjustment panel. Was working previously. It is checked in preferences and does work on uppermost main tool bar. At times it was slowish to respond but eventually did. Working with PS4 in Design Premium. Checked function box on and off several times as well as opening and closing program and also shutting down computer. Any help or something else I need to look at in preferences? Thanks. Bob
Edit: Tool Tips function works fine in "In Design" and "Illustrator" so it appers it has to be something in Photoshop

I tried that link several weeks ago and did a reset, I do not want to do delete the preference files if at all possible. I am certain that you know what my problem is but if you don't mind. I would like to clarify what is going on. Previously in the preferences file under the interface label there is a box to turn on or off the tool tips function. It has always been "on". Whenever I wanted to see what an icon's function was related in a panel I placed the cursor on it an it would show it's function. I. e. make a new layer, mask, etc. It no longer does that when I am in the adjustment panel. The function works when I click on it and that is not a problem. All I want is the tip or hint or label as to what the icon's function is to appear and that is what I ubderstand is what the show tool tips function I have CS3 running on another machine and this function it works fine. If I turn it off in the preference fill it no longer works I also have elements 8 on my daughters laptop and that is also fine...on works, off doesn't workI do not have any problems in the tools venue. All function properly and all sub menus work fine.
Any other suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks again for replying

CS6.0 & CS5.5 Master Collection InDesign Font Control bar & Characters Panel not Functioning

Hi, I am a college student and our college a year ago sent me CS5.5 Master Collection InDesign at that time the font control bar was not functioning correctly on my PC. Our class was about Adobe Illustrator so our instructor rather than deal with it had us just cut and paste things into MS Word.
Now a year and half later I am taking a college course in Adobe Photoshop . . CS6.0 Master Collection InDesign once again the collection is the Student and Teacher Licensing for Windows. The same thing is happening now we are REQUIRED to this semester to create a Calendar using our own photos and create a INDESIGN layout using our photos we took for our course. In this version of CS6.0 InDesign I figured they would of fixed it by now, but the "Control Panel is still not working, nor is the Character Panel that you pull up to the side of InDesign. I am able to use the pull down menus and do things from there, but the point of taking this course was to learn the software, how can we students use the software if it is not functioning properly.
NOTE I AM EXPERIENCEING THE SAME THING WITH ALL SIDE PANELS NOW TOO.
Oh yes it changes the font name when you use the pull down window from the top menu, but it is not allowing us to use the CONTROL BAR just under the MENU BAR, nor the side panel I pulled up and am showing there. In ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR I can use the character panel just fine, but not in InDesign.
In Illustrator when I go to launch it I get this error, I have done as it asked but it still is bring this up at launch. I can go in and use Illustrator just fine, except for this error.
Someone thought I may of installed it incorrectly, so I removed all ADOBE software from my computer ran maintenance and virus scans and reinstalled the software, a whole day wasted, but it still is doing the same thing.
a) Thinking that this is a limitation placed on the software by Adobe because it is a Student Teacher Edition?
b) There's a problem with having OpenType and TrueType fonts on hand?
c) Adobe has a software problem that they have yet to resolve?
d) There is something somewhere within the software I need to flip a switch on?
Our instructor I gather who owns his own business his works just fine on his PC, but then because it is his business software it makes me think it has to do with the Student Teacher Edition.
I have more than enough RAM and hard drive space the Processor is a AMD A8-3800 APU with Radeon(tm) HD. Graphics is 2.40 GHz. It is a 64-bit Operating System. Oh I am using a Windows OS 7.0 Professional .
This is the only piece of software that I have come accross that will not function correctly on my computer system since it's purchase Jan of 2012.

There is no difference between the commercial and educattional versions of the products other than the license terms. The software itself is the same.
Since you are on windows 7, the first question is are you using large fonts in the Windows interface? Large fonts combined with an Aero theme are deadly to ID. See InDesign tools and panels don't respond to mouse clicks (Windows 7/Vista)
If this doesn't apply, the next thing to try is replacing your preferences. See Replace Your Preferences
Do you use a font manager? If so, which one?
Does the account you are using have adminsitrator privileges? Shouldn't matter, but it would be worth trying a new account that does.
It's still possible that the installation failed in some way. That Illustrator error certainly makes it look like a strong possibility, and there may have been some left-over crud from the first failed install that was not replaced the second time. If the things above don't clear up the problems, I would suggest Deactivating the suite from an applicatin that will open, and uninstalling again, then run the cleaner tool (CS Cleaner Tool for installation problems | CCM, CS6, CS5.5, CS5, CS4, CS3) which will remove all traces of the previous installations. Reboot, then before reinstalling run MSConfig and turn off all non-essential startup programs and services, especially any virus or maware scanners, third-party firewall, instant messengers, iTunes and all browser helpers and toolbars, then close MSconfig and reboot. Log in as an Administrator (the actual Adminsitrator account would be best, but it may not be turned on). When the warning comes up about diagnostic mode continue to boot (cancel MSConfig if it opens), then run the installer again. You can now run MSconfig to restore normal startup and reboot once more.

Error: Media In Device Not Functional

I keep getting the error message, but only occasionally, when I connect my iPod Classic to my car. I have a factory cable so that I can access the content through the navigation but several times/week the iPod stops (sometimes mid song) and tells me "Media In Device Not Functional". The dealer has done a couple of "patches" that they said would fix it but it hasn't. I'm beginning to think it's the iPod itself since we have an iPod dock for our home stereo and it too was have issues with the iPod. I'm thinking of doing a Restore.

Relieved to hear I'm not the only one with this problem with the 80gb classic, I Opened mine on xmas day and it worked ok for a few days then I got the problem as described...
the ipod played music and videos fine but windows wouldnt detect it so I couldn't sync it ... tried a factory reset (hold action and menu button for 10 seconds) this didn't make any difference, I then managed to get it into diagnostic mode by doing a factory reset, then holding the action button and the left arrow before the apple logo disappears ... after going through all the keypad diagnostics which passed windows again recognised the device, I then opened Itunes which recognised that the ipod had a serious error and offered to restore it back to its factory settings, which I did, I then also updated it to the latest software
again it worked fine for a few days and then I got the same error in windows xp again ... thinking the drivers might be corrupt on my PC I tried it on a different PC but with no luck, again got the same error
My Ipod is now back at Comet ... but because of their stupid policy I cannot get a replacement as it was bought more than 14 days before I took it back, even though it wasn't unboxed till christmas day!! so it looks like I'll be without it for a while,
I will keep posted on the outcome but any other feedback would be appreciated from anyone who has had the same problem
