Replace music

I had to install a new hard drive and OS X 10.5 on my PowerBook.
How do I reinstall my old music library?
I have few things in my new library that I would like to save. So I need to merge my old library and new one. Suggestions please.

You need a Ultra ATA to USB connection in order to mount the internal HDD. Its hard to find. Next time, backup before you install the new internal HDD. Once you do that, navigate to the music folder in that HDD. Click on the iTunes folder and you should see the iTunes Music folder. Drag that folder to your iTunes icon on the dock. Now your old music will be added to your existing library. Now go to File>Import. Navigate to the iTunes folder and there is a file called "iTunes Library" and import that file and you maybe able to get your old playlists back.

  • HT204406 iTunes Match replacing music with censored versions

Has there been a solution found for iTunes Match replacing music with censored versions?  Everything I read has been old and no real solutions.  This was unexpected and an unacceptable result of me paying for a service.  At minimum there should be a question prompting the user to agree to censored replacements or the use of original music if a match cannot be found.  Thanks in advance to anyone that can help and sorry if this is duplicated info.

You're files are not gone. They are still on the HDD of your computer. Apparently, at some point you've created a new, empty iTunes library. Go to ~/Music and tell us what folders are there. At minimum there will be a folder named "iTunes" where all your files will be.
If you have backups, you can restore the iTunes library files from immediately before the problem happened and be back to pretty close to where you were.

  • Itunes/Iphone 4s replaced - Music, voice memos and playlist missing and or deleted

Backed up old phone, had phone replaced from Apple Store.  they told me to restore from back up at home computer.  My playlists are gone, my voice memos are all gone, losing memos and pictures on the phone.  Can't play any music on the computer either and all the music and memos are gone from the phone.
    How do I fix this?

Just to add to this discussion...
In order to force a sync with the Iphone, I had to restore the Iphone.
Still can't figure out how to get the greyed out 'media kind' to work

  • Restore not replacing music.

Nearly two years ago I upgraded my handset from the iPhone 4 to iPhone 5. I backed up the 4, got the 5, and did a restore. When I did the restore it added all my music. But when I went to iTunes on my laptop all the music I had imported from my CDs had disappeared And all that was there were my iTunes Store purchases. My phone still had the imported music though. Zoom forward to now, I had my iPhone 5 replaced due to faulty battery and diligently did my back up and restore as instructed by Apple. This time no music restored at all so I have lost ALL my imported music and don't know how(if) I can retrieve it (my iTunes purchased music was easy to restore). Can anyone shed some insight on why/how this happened, how I can prevent it in the future and if I can retrieve my beloved music that I cannot replace?

There is nothing that you can do with an iPhone that will remove imported or ripped music from your computer. If your music is gone then you have computer problems, not iTunes problems. I've been ripping music for over 10 years, and all of it is still in my iTunes library, even though it has been moved 4 times to newer computers.
However, music is NOT part of your backup. To restore music to a new phone you first restore from backup, then sync the phone. The sync will restore your music unless you have Manually Manage... enabled, in which case you will have to manually manage it again. Which is why Manually Manage is an abomination. The better way is to create an iPhone playlist, drag the music you want to the playlist, then sync the playlist with Manually Manage turned off.

  • Help me. my ipod replaced music through TV broadcasts!

I want to put Broadcasts on my iPod , but iTunes will replace than the entire music. Is there the possibility that music and broadcasts are at the same time on my iPod! I really need Help, thank you!
i'm from German, so my Englisch is not really good. I'm sorry

It sounds like yu are trying to sync the Bradcast app from a computer other than the computer yu sync yu iPod with.  You can only sync with one iTunes library.
Why not download/install the app directly to the iPod?

  • Replacement Music/iPod app

    Hi
Upgraded to ios 5 last night.
HUGELY dissapointed in the new Music app, it is unintuitive grossly over simplified and is no longer usable for me.
It just does not work for me.
Can anyone recommend an App that restores the great user interface from the iPod app?
    Robin

Technically he can. I have my default music app stashed in a folder while Denon Music is chilling in my dock, effectively "replacing" the stock app...
Oh, and on that note, although I mentioned EQu in my previous post, it's worth mentioning Denon Music is almost the same thing but is free.

  • Replacing Music After Hard Drive Failure

I just got my computer back from the repair place after its hard drive failed. I had my music collection (purchased through iTunes) backed up on CDs, and I'm in the process of putting it back on my computer. The music is downloading fine, but the computer can't find the titles or artists for the music. Is there a way to get this stuff back through my account?

If you burned the CD/DVD's as a data format then the info should be there as it is part of the id3 tags. If you burned as an audio CD (AIFF) then as noted you are out of luck.
FYI - if you use the 'keep' option selected in iTunes prefs then iTunes will rename the file on the HD to match the name in the iTunes interface.

  • Does iTunes Match replace Music syncing?

I was just wondering if I buy iTunes Match will I no longer need to sync my device with my computer for music?

Just be warned, though, that syncing of metadata (such as Play Counts, Last Played) in iTunes Match is still pretty erratic. Just yesterday, I played all the tracks with Plays = 0 and updated iTunes Match afterwards. When I opened iTunes again this morning, the tracks are back in the playlist with Plays = 0 again. All my iOS devices did not update as well. If you care about your metadata, do not subscribe to iTunes Match, at least not yet, until they sorted this thing out.

  • Itunes match replacing music libraries

    does it actually do that?
an article in Macworld said that it did not

It does and it doesn't.  =)
If you have music on your phone and you turn on iTunes Match on your phone, any songs that have not been uploaded to the iCloud will be removed.  But any songs that are already in iCloud will remain on your phone as they were, rather than being deleted and re-downloaded again.

  • How can I update the music on my classic without replacing existing music?

So I've been at this for a while now and I'm very afraid to sync my classic worrying that I will replace some existing music. I haven't synced my ipod with my new computer yet and am worried it will replace music that's been on my ipod since I got it. I know, I know I should have a back up of my music but alas I don't have everything. There are some really great albums that I don't have backup of and I can't seem to retrieve it off my ipod as it is. Any suggestions? I just want to add new music that I have to my ipod without deleting old music.
    Please Help!
    Thanks a bunch

1: Make sure itunes on your new computer is set to prevent ipods from  syncing automatically when ipod is connected. Do this by going to edit/preferences/devices.
2: Connect ipod. Under summary set it to manually manage music.
3: Now to add music without erasing what's already on your ipod, highlight whatever songs or albums you want to add from the itunes library and drag them to the ipod showing in the left pane under devices.
Hold the control key down while selecting music to highlight as much music as you want, them drag the the whole kaboodle to the left. Only the highlighted music will then sync all at once and nothing else will be deleted.
I think this should be the default setup when installing itunes. It would save a lot of people the headache of losing all their music when first connecting their ipod to itunes.

  • Copying music from mini ipod to computer

I want to copy the music I have on my ipod nano to a different computer with a fresh copy of itunes 10.1.1.4.
I tried the directions I found on the support page; Edit, Preference, check - Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding library. The iTunes Media folder does exist. Then - File Library, Organize Library, check - Consolidate files. okay
Nothing happens - I'm afraid to hit sync, I do have the Manually manage music and Video checked.
If I hit sync I get a warning message about replacing music on the ipod with music on the computer. There is no music on the PC, that's the whole problem. If I lose this music there is a chance I will never breath again.
I have gone through the steps to transfer authorized purchases and authorizing the PC. I have completed 2 computers out of 5.
Oh, crap, forgot, I'm using Windows 8 and I do have enough space on the computer to hold the music files.
    Thanks you

See this user tip. It refers to the iPhone, but it's equally valid for iPods as well…

  • Restoring iTunes music during hard drive crash

I recently installed a new hard-drive for my computer. I also recently ended my .me/.mac email address subscription about a month ago. I plugged my phone in and saw my original music was restored from a month ago, but nothing I purchased within the last 30 days. Is there any way to get the music I purchased recently to restore? Thank you.

  • Latest nokia music converting files gone?

I updated Nokia Music a couple of weeks ago. IN this new version I can't find the option to automatically convert mp3 to aac before transferring them to the phone. The older version did all that automatically.  I don't understand how a "newer" version has less features or why do they make me update a software that won't let me do the things I'm used to since a bought the phone.

    Hi,
As this has been discussed in this forum too many times, i have already replied few posts asking the users to downgrade their pc suites to 7.1.26.1... The reason why Nokia Music replaced music manager was, as most of our readers knew Nokia OVI Suite 2.0 is in BETA, which will be the only PC suite software for all Nokia phones in near future(its clearly indicated in NOS beta labs forum), so at the moment, nokia is trying to mingle all the pc suite applications under one roof(Nokia PC Suite 7.1, NSeries PC Suite and Nokia OVI Suite 1.1x)... so it achieve this they might have planned for bringing all the applications compatible with all Nokia Phones which has got PC connectivity.... There are some hurdles in this in which they have to take care.... Like Nokia Photos is not compatible with all the phones, though they say some ESeries phones are compatible with Nokia photos, they are not 100% completly compatible only Images and Videos of these phones can be synched with Nokia Photos and not their SMSes as in case of NSeries Phones.,... So Nokia OVI Suite 2.0 will be the remedy for all these temporary hurdles faced by us....  We as users believe that once Nokia OVI Suite 2.0 graduates from Nokia beta labs, it will solve all our issues .... We are awaiting for Nokia OVI Suite 2.0 release

  • Can the music in iMovies trailer be changed?

I am using the imovies trailer but i really want to change the music. Does anyone know how to change the music?

If you choose File>Convert Trailer to Movie, you'll be able to edit or delete all the individual elements including music.
Then you can just drag in your replacement music.
