Replace noraml keyboard with Backlight Keyboard

Hello,
I am using HP Pavilion DV6-6C02tx for 6 months. Every thing seems fine, the only thing problematic to me is that it doesn't has a backlight keyboard. I just want to ask if there is any way to replace my keyboard with backlight keyboard. How can I find that my motherboard supports backlight keyboard or not?

Reviewing the keyboards on page 64 of this guide, I don't see a backlit keyboard listed.  It is very likely this particular unit doesn't support backlighted keyboards since none are listed.

    Hi there @vishnupraneethr
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
In answer to your request, I am attaching the HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide. Within you can find the procedure for replacing the keyboard correctly, as well as as the part numbers for the supported, compatible keyboards. Check on page 59 of the manual for the list of replacement keyboards, and the replacement procedure.
Unfortunately, from the list, it does not appear that any of the options are backlit.
    I hope this helps.

  • Can I Replace a Keyboard(N on-Backlit ) with a Backlit Keyboard in my HP Pavilion 17-f053ca Laptop?

Can I Replace standard Keyboard(Non-Backlit ) with a Backlit Keyboard in my HP Pavilion 17-f053ca Laptop?

    Hi,
Unfortunately no available part for the series:
         http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04402649.pdf
    More manuals:
         http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-17-Notebook-PC-series/6936220/model/7200385/manuals
In this case, you also need to replace the mother board (means buy a new machine) because you need connectors for all those lights.

  • Replace W520 keyboard with backlit W530 keyboard?

Is it possible to replace the keyboard on a W520 with an equivalent, backlit W530 keyboard?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

It is not possible to do a direct hardware replacement. The bezel is different and the scan codes for the keyboard (which are supported by the BIOS) are different on the keyboards.

  • Replace W540 Keyboard with W541 Trackpoint Buttons

Could someone from Lenovo let the forum know if it will be possible to replace the W540 Trackpad / Bezel / Keyboard assembly with the new one from the W541 which has integrated physical Trackpoint buttons.  This would make a very big difference to me and I suspect a lot of other W540 owners who use the Trackpoint. I am the current owner of 5 Thinkpads and have been a loyal customer since the 600 series. The increased pressure necessary to generate a less reliable click on the Trackpad has greatly exacerbated a problem with the top joint of my right thumb - I have had to retrain myself to use my left thumb to do all clcking.  The problem was nowhere near as bad on the old Trackpoint buttons - where I could use them with my right thumb for several hours with no symptoms, I can now manage only minutes.

i too am EXTREMELY frustrated with the trackpoint.  I also agree as to WHY the USB 2.0 instead of four (4) USB 3.0s. I have been a trackpoint fan since the late 80s which triggered my purchase of an IBM T21 still working having a Windows 98se operatring system.  My next was a T42p having a Windows XP Pro ServPk 3.  My third is a W500 for which I purchased a Microsoft Windows 7 Pro Operating System.  My fourth is an x220 having a 500 GB solid state Hard Drive (upgrade from the 160 GB SSD as supplied).  The fifth is the W540.  It has high end upgrades of all components including a 1 Terabyte SSD I purchased and installed myself.  I installed the 500 GB it came with in my W500. I read about the trackpoint problems with the W540 before purchasing but had no idea how SERIOUS the problem is until I purchased one!  This Lenovo forum is LOADED with complaints and appropriate requests by dedicated Lenovo users to replace the Keyboard with a USABLE trackpoint.  I am not surprised!  I am a Professional Engineer having had my own consulting business for 15 years.  I took a course in customer service during which I was informed of the results of NOT FIXING A PROBLEM FOR A CUSTOMER.  It has a probable devastatilng affect on future sales, etc. Personnally I have always found your customer service acceptable...better with some techs than others probably depending on experience.  It is extremely important you fix the problem with the trrackpoint ASAP AT NO COST TO YOUR CUSTOMERS.  I haven't had the W540 very long but it's only fair to be upfront that it will be my last if IBM-Lenovo fails to fulfill a MAJOR NEED of it's otherwise dedicated customers.  All else failing issue a recall and credit the owner toward a properly engineered replacement.  My big questions for IBM-LENOVO are WHAT WERE YOU THINKING and WHAT WAS THE MOTIVE?  Lastly I also concur with the USB Port error (WHY USB 2.0 since 3.0 ports are backward compatible).  A minor problem for me personnaly is the inclusion of the number pad.  It throws the trackpoint and the keyboard as typed on off center.  However both of those are minor in comparison the nearly 'useless' trackipoint.

  • I would like to replace a keyboard in my Pavilion 15-p 199sa ENERGY STAR

Last February I bought my first laptop from Currys Pc world. Once at home I noticed that the touchpad was faulty: lifted up on the upper left corner. I should have brought it back on the following day, but shame on me, I did not. Now I do not mind to pay for a new keyboard, and replace the old one to get the problem sorted out. but I do not know where or how to get it. I tried to open the link: Hp Support, Replacement parts, but this web page is not available. I sent an email to hp support and i have been told: "Based on the information provided you have purchased your unit from the Dixon's Store Group (DSG). The DSG have an agreement with HP, where they support the standard 12 month warranty on your product.
Because of this agreement with the DSG, your product is out of warranty with HP, therefore please contact your point of purchase for any support you may require". Now I do not feel to bring the laptop to Currys, because I tried to fix the touchpad and I have scratched the keyboard a bit.
Therefore, my friends be aware that when you buy an HP laptop from Currys Pc World, your product won't have any Hp warranty.
I went to Merchant Square in London to Hp Total Care Centre: but the shop has disappeared.
I will try over the phone.
(Probably it would have been the case to buy from a laptob brand that is also the laptop manufactorer)

  • Trying to replace the Keyboard for HP Pavilion DV7-3180us. Need part number & compatible parts.

I have a HP Pavilion DV7-3180us laptop.  I have to replace the Keyboard because I have about 7 missing keys.  I have been looking for a good replacement but I want to ensure that I am getting the lowest price and the correct part.   I don't have a lot to spend on it but it looks cheaper or about the same price, to buy the whole keyboard rather than the seperate keys.  Is this keyboard compatible with other keyboards?  This would give me more options to find one in stock and a reasonable price.  Also, need a new AC Adapter charger.  I have seen it listed with 3 different watts 65w, 90w, & 120w.  Is this accurate?  I find the parts listed under my computer manufacturer number but I am skeptical that it is correct.  I have seen some reviews where people say that the keyboard replacement listed for DV7-3180us did not fit.  Anyone with any help to make this easier I would very much appreciate.  Thanks.

    Hi:
My advice is to read chapter 3 of the dv7 service manual below, and cross reference the part numbers or only buy the parts you need with the HP part numbers.

  • Can I replace the keyboard of CQ56-115DX?

Hi,  I have a brand new CQ56-115DX. It comes with a non-standard keyboard which makes typing quite inconvenient---I am used to the standard keyboard and frequently hit the quick  launch keys when I need to use "Tab", "Shift" and "Ctrl".
This is very annoying to me.  I would like to replace the keyboard with for example: the keyboard for CQ61.
Can you let me know if the CQ61 keyboard would be compatible?   If not, is there any other compatible standard keyboard that I can use?   I know how to replace the keyboard just need to find compatible parts. Thanks.

You can find list of compatible parts for this model over here

  • I payed 380 dollars to replace my keyboard.. I feel ripped off

200 dollars for the keyboard and 180dollars for some reason that the technican explained that i didnt really get. I searched the internet and found out that most people were able to replace it with just 200 dollars... The reason for replacement is because of liquid spill but I just requested to replace the keyboard because everything was operating good

If its a unibody macbook most shops replace the whole top metal piece because the keyboard is just kinda glued in there (Ive seen this done and it doesnt always hold well and keys will stop working, shop depending). Ive done a couple of these on higher end machines (never 13's) and even the parts to me cost out the nose. Did a 17inch a few years back that was 2 years old, screen, bezel glass and keyboard. Cost me $1200 just in parts.
Also everything bolts down to that unibody keyboard piece. Its not a very quick change if you have someone who is being careful not to break any connectors, etc. $180 for labor IMO from doing laptops for almost 10 years isnt a bad price.

  • Can you replace the keyboard of a MacBook Pro without replacing the logic board?

I had a bit of water damage on my MacBook Pro. I took it to the IT department, and he got the computer to work. The logic board and hard drive were intact. Here's the issues I'm having: the keyboard is next to  destroyed. The buttons barely respond, and when they do, it's random letters that type, and they type without me pressing anything. I asked him about replacing the keyboard and what that may cost me. He told me that replacing the keyboard would mean replacing the logic board because they're integrated together, so essentially, that would mean replacing the entire laptop itself. I've been looking on here, and have seen that people offered other uninformed customers to go look for replacement costs for the keyboard, leading me to believe that it is replaceable without replacing the logic board. Can anyone confirm or deny this claim? I would greatly appreciate it. I gave the laptop to the IT department for the weekend. He's going to dry and dry it out over the next few days, so hopefully that works. I don't know what generation macbook this is, but I got it brand new in early October. Thank you very much in advance.

Why? Maybe he's ignorant and/or just didn't care to look into it? IDK
Look at the illustrated installation directions at same site. You may be able to do it yourself.
Overlooking details: with spillage, things can go wrong that aren't immediately apparent. Just something to keep in mind. No one can tell you if that's the case with yours or not.

  • Replacing a keyboard for my 15-n214es

    G. afternoon,
I was trying to replace my keyboard to use one with arabic characters. The point is that I was unable to find any tutorial to replace the built-in keyboard. I have already removed the screw in the back with the keyboard icon, but i am unable to remove the keyboard from the frontside as in other HP systems. Should I remove each and every screw in th back to remove the whole skeleton in the machine?
I am a bit lost and the inline manuals in hp.com http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03844127.pdf are not helpful to solve this issue.
    Thanks in advance.

Is that the Service manual matching your P/N? If not then you need to use your P/N at HP driver site and lookup your correct Service manual.

  • NEED Replacement Internal Keyboard! Clamshell 366 MHZ

Can somebody tell me all the information I need to find the correct Keyboard?
I collect vintage computers. This one is a dark blue Fire Wire Clamshell G3 iBook 366 mhz M7721LL/A M6411*
that needs a replacement internal keyboard. PowerBook Medic is out of stock. I have sent an email request to them. There are many keyboards on eBay but I need the Correct one.
    * = M6411 is not confirmed. I could not find any "M6411" in the Apple System Profiler nor any where outside on the iBook itself. But I keep getting pictures of the same Clamshell iBook when I type iBook. M6411 in the search results.
The Keyboard Type in Apple System Profiler is "iBook Keyboard with Inverted-T".
and I need to double check ... Is this the Correct part number? 922-4350

Keyboards from all original iBooks (1.Generation) Tangerine, Blueberry, Indigo, Graphite and Keylime  are interchangeable. If you collect iBooks, you may want to have one with indigo (dark blue) highlights.
Some years ago, i wrote a list of spare part sellers. If you are not able to find it in USA, i may ship one from Germany to you.

  • How to replace the keyboard on a Portege R500/R600

    Hi,
I would like to replace my keyboard, I'm going to buy a new keyboard soon. I've done this flawlessly with multiple laptops before, but for the R500/R600 it's not comletely clear how to lift the old one out properly.
Are there any screws to remove (except the one on the side) or is it "just lifting it out"?
    Thx!

    > thanks, that kind of confirms what I was afraid of. Do you happen to know more, or know where I could find more? If there is no other way out I'll send my laptop to an ASP, but I really don't like missing my laptop for days so if it would somehow be possible to replace it myself that would be much better...
    > Very helpful answer anyway!
Unfortunately, this is everything what I know. A friend of mine has got such R500 and the ASP changed the keyboard because he spilled a fluid on the keyboard.
I talked to him and everything what he said was that there are some double-sided tapes
However, the R500 is really a nice notebook and it would be really pity if you would damage some other notebook parts during the keyboard replacement.
And to be honest I doubt that the replace would take a longer time
So in my personal opinion I would take the help from ASP so you would be on the safe side
