Replace panelHeader text with breadcrumb

Hi,
I have a panelHeader with empty text and size=1 as follows:
<af:panelHeader text="" size="1">
</af:panelHeader>
to have the effect of a section layout. But since the text is empty, there is extra space at the top of the panelHeader.
I am wondering is it possible to replace the panelHeader text with some other component like breadcrumb?
Please advise.
Thanks.
-Mina

If you have bread crumb in your page and again if you want to display the same on panel header text, its ok. Bread crumb is shown wrt to a page.
You can have text(heading) that describes the contents of panel header.

• [AS] CS3- Find any text with style, then replace that text with a new applied fill color.

I am trying to find the simplest way in cs3 to find any text with style, then replace that text with a new fill color. I can find text and change text. I can find a style and change it to a new style. I can't seem to find a style and change the applied fill color. I do not want to change the properties of the style, just the applied color. Yes, I want the + sign, for now. I know, why not update the style, I am not allowed to. Any help would be great. Since the search is not available, I need a new response.
Thanks.

• Can't replace old text with new text in a text box

Hello everyone. This is my first time posting in the forum, so I'm hoping this works out well. We recently purchased a few copies of Adobe Acrobt X for the office, and one of the users is having an issue with editing text in a field. She can type new text into a box, but when she goes back to replace that text with something else, the old text stays. New text appears on top of the old text, and you can see both. Is there a way to simply highlight the old text, delete it, and then replace it with new text? Thanks in advanace for your assistance. I understand this might be confusing, so let me know if you have questions.
Thanks,
Dan

You have to use the text touchup tool (there is a new name like text edit tool in AA X) to edit such text. It sounds like you are using the typewriter tool or something like it. Text editing in Acrobat is not for the weak at heart. It can be very frustrating and is not recommended except for very minor changes. If at all possible, you should edit the original and just recreate the PDF.

• Can we replace OTR text with Images?

Hi All,
I just wanted to know can we replace OTR text with Images?
or
Can we define an image as an OTR text? so that it can be placed in the page where OTR text is used.
regards...
Ravi

Hi Ravi,
it is possible to replace an OTR Text with an image.
You first have to define the Link in the OTR Text where your image is located. This can be everywhere in the Internet or better on a secured intranet server which everyone can reach easily without permission problems. Maybe in the DMZ.
You can even link it into the MIME Repository of your SAP System as well.
Then you have to put that OTR Text into a
<htmlb:textview> Tag and ensure that the switch
" encode = "TRUE" is enabled.
Well thats all.
Keep in mind that the a different language, set in the Internet Explorer or other viewing instances, disables the link if it not "translated" into that language.
This can also be an advantage if you got multilingual fixed pictures with drawn text in it.
I suggest you put all your links ( with a Value Field and at least a name field) into a seperate table into the repository for easy maintaining.

• Best Adobe product for editing PDF, replacing English text with Thai without altering/recompressing images, graphics etc.?

I have an English language PDF, a medical device brochure, the content of which has already been translated into Thai (in Word). I want to replace the original English in the PDF with the Thai translation easily without altering any other aspect of the brochure, like graphics, images, margins etc. (No doubt I'll have to tweak line height, font sizes and paragraph lengths a little.) I'm unsure of what would be the best Adobe product for this purpose, e.g. Illustrator, InDesign or Acrobat (or something else), that would allow me simply to open the PDF, replace the English with Thai in an attractive Thai font (to be embedded), make minor layout tweaks, then save without any compression so the quality and colours of the original photos, artwork, and graphical elements are preserved. I've heard Office 2013 allows direct editing of a PDF but I'm not sure if it converts, alters or compresses PDF graphics in some way when first opening the file. Could anyone with relevant experience please advise? Thanks in advance.

Adobe's only offering here is Adobe Acrobat. However, I must say something. I have heard from many people who sought to translate a PDF in this way. NONE SUCCEEDED. PDF is not suitable for this purpose. Obtain the original, this should be part of your contract for translation. If this is impossible, expect to remake the document; Word is probably unsuitable for a brochure of this type, maybe InDesign.

• Replacing bitmap text with vector graphic text

In a layout for an ebook I have some important black and white bitmap illustrations in tiff., 300 dpi. These have appeared ok on print, but on screen, reading the same pdf-file, they´re unacceptable, especially some texts in fontsize 5-6 pt are unclear. People tell me I have to convert the drawings, or at least the texts, to vector graphics.
Question: Can I open these tiff.s in Photoshop, change only the texts to vector graphics and then save in a format, that can be inserted in the Word2010 layout? (You might wonder why I use Word, but it was a question of economy, when the project was started up). Or are there other ways? Thanks for any answers!

You are right, there are no layers, some geometric shapes with texts in and around. It´s possible to mark or lassoe the bits of text, since spaces were made in the figures for the texts. And then delete them, and then insert new ones. That will be in another layer, I guess, but from that point I don´t know what to do :-)

• Use Powershell to replace text with image in Word document

I have a powershell script that uses a Word document as a template to create signatures that I am pushing out to my organization.
The document is populated with text formatted the way I want the signature to look, that I then do a FindText and ReplaceText on. This works fine for replacing text with text, but I can't figure out how to properly replace some of the holder text with
an image and a link. I found a few posts about adding images to word documents, but none that seem to work properly in this scenario.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Dear BOFH,
You are correct that method I outlined is not for inserting an image into a signature block (which would be in Outlook, not Word). The links you post do certainly deal with outlook signatures, well done... Except that the question was about how to
use a Powershell script to replace text in a Word document with an image. Sure it was framed in the context of creating signatures, but the poster expressed that they already had a method of generating and replacing text, and just needed to know, as
I did, how to do the thing they actually asked.
Please BOFH... Please forgive my audacity in hoping to find a reference (any reference) to how to replace Word text with images via Powershell in a thread titled "Use Powershell to replace text with image in Word document".
This is certainly a scripting question, and even something as simple as "You will need to call the .NET methods for the Word find/replace functionality. Please ask in the Word forums for the correct method to use.
If you need help on calling .NET methods look HTTP ://here"support you offered combined with the contempt you offer in response to my actual substantive help to the actual question asked.
BOFH, you are not better than us, just more arrogant.
Can you please start your own question as this one has been closed. Please see scripting guidelines.

• Search .docx and replace text with image

I've got a directory containing a series of images. The images will always be the same name and I need to insert them into placeholders in a Word document which will be a template. I thought of using the image names as placeholders, opening the document
and searching for the image name, replacing it by inserting the image, and doing so for each image in the directory.
$file is the name of the image in the directory and it loops through them okay.
foreach($file in Get-ChildItem $savepath -Filter *.jpg)
# search word doc and replace selected text with image ($file)
Also inserting the image seems simple enough from a TechNet article I found, but I've got no idea how to open the Word document and do a search and replace. I found a few articles related to the subject but I couldn't get them to work when I tried to adapt
them.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

This 'might' be possible, but I'm having a hard time finding good references to the com object capabilities for inserting an image into a word document. Creating new, converting format, that sort of thing is straightforward.
I'd do a search on "powershell word comobject" and variations of insert image update edit, etc. Or maybe someone else with more experience/knowledge has a magic bullet for you. Once you get some info on doing it with powershell, expand
your search by omitting the powershell keyword, there's gotta be some solid documentation for the comobject somwhere, but it will probably be a bit complex.
You can also:
$word = new-object -comobject word.application
$doc = $word.documents.add("<path to word document>"
and get-member to your heart's content, but finding references and/or documentation might be easier.
Good luck!
Edit: This could help, but really doesn't give much insight into placement of the image, only helps getting the image into the doc: http://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/office/44ffc6c8-131f-42f1-b24b-ff92230b2e0a

It depends if the WDJ application has made another navigation.
History saves any navigations made by the user (TLN/DTN,etc) or navigation done by applications in code (wdDoNavigate, EPCM.doNavigate).
So it can go back to previous view , or previous iview the user was at...

• Can't replace a text in InCopy

I am trying to replace a text with another text in an InCopy story using:
iTextModelCmds->ReplaceCmd
The parameters seem to be OK, as it works with the same parameters in InDesign, but I always get NULL for ReplaceCmd (I have no problem getting the ITextModelCmds interface).
I should be able to replace a text in InCopy. Any ideas why I can't do this? Might it be locked somehow?

• Replacing the text

Hello All,
I need your help regarding replacing the text with some other text. I am trying to replace the text '\\' with '\'. But i am not able to get the correct result.
I am having string value like '\\Computername\Path\comp_name\\domain\\location' i want to replace the text '\\' with '\' only for 2nd and 3rd occurance.
Replace \\domain\\ with \domain\ I have tried with below query...
SELECT REGEXP_REPLACE('\\Computername\Path\comp_name\\domain\\location' ,
'(\\){2,}', '\')
AS Expression
FROM dual;i am getting the below result for above query.
\Computername\Path\comp_name\domain\location But i want the output like below..
\\Computername\Path\comp_name\domain\location I am using Oracke 11g vesion.
Please help me on this .

('\\Computername\Path\comp_name\\domain\\location', '\\\\', '\\',2 )
as Expression
from
dual
;Yes, there is a difference.
Query 1 leaves the first occurrence of '\\' intact, regardless of where that is in the string.
Query 2 ignores the 1st character, but otherwise changes all occurrences of '\\' into a single '\'.
You'll see the difference if you add anything to the very beginning of the test string, for example
'X\\Computername\Path\comp_name\\domain\\location'I mentioned this in my first message:

... I assume the 1st occurrence won't always be at the beginning of the string...If the first occrence always is at the beginning of the string, then you don't need regualr expressions at all. You can say:
SELECT SUBSTR (str, 1, 1)
|| REPLACE ( SUBSTR (str, 2)
) AS expression
FROM table_x;This will be more efficient than regular expressions.

How Can I replace newScale Text Strings with Custom Values?
How can I replace newScale text strings with custom values?
All newScale text is customizable. Follow the procedure below to change the value of any text string that appears in RequestCenter online pages.
Procedure
1. Find out the String ID of the text string you would like to overwrite by turning on the String ID display:
a) Navigate to the RequestCenter.ear/config directory.
b) Open the newscale.properties file and add the following name-value pair at the end of the file:res.format=2
c) Save the file.
d) Repeat steps b and c for the RmiConfig.prop and RequestCenter.prop files.
e) Stop and restart the RequestCenter service.
f) Log in to RequestCenter and browse to the page that has the text you want to overwrite. In front of the text you will now see the String ID.
g) Note down the String ID's you want to change.
2. Navigate to the directory: /RequestCenter.ear/RequestCenter.war/WEB-INF/classes/com/newscale/bfw.
3. Create the following sub-directory: res/resources
4. Create the following empty text files in the directory you just created:
RequestCenter_0.properties
RequestCenter_1.properties
RequestCenter_2.properties
RequestCenter_3.properties
RequestCenter_4.properties
RequestCenter_5.properties
RequestCenter_6.properties
RequestCenter_7.properties
5. Add the custom text strings to the appropriate RequestCenter_<Number>.properties file in the following manner (name-value pair) StringID=YourCustomTextString
Example: The StringID for "Available Work" in ServiceManager is 699.
If you wanted to change "Available Work" to "General Inbox", you would add the following line to the RequestCenter_0.properties file
699=General Inbox

I've recently come across this information and it was very helpful in changing some of the inline text.
However, one place that seemed out of reach with this method was the three main buttons on an "Order" page. Specifically the "Add & Review Order" button was confusing some of our users.
Through the use of JavaScript we were able to modify the label of this button. We placed JS in the footer.html file that changes the value of the butt

Back up all data before proceeding.
Launch the Font Book application and validate all fonts. You must select the fonts in order to validate them. See the built-in help and this support article for instructions. If Font Book finds any issues, resolve them.
Start up in safe mode to rebuild the font caches. Restart as usual and test.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t start in safe mode. In that case, ask for instructions.
If you still have problems, then from the Font Book menu bar, select
File ▹ Restore Standard Fonts...
You'll be prompted to confirm, and then to enter your administrator login password.
Also note that if you deactivate or remove any built-in fonts, for instance by using a third-party font manager, the system may become unstable.
