Replace published folio?

Hi again,
This is a follow up to this question really. Having inadvertently (and briefly) published an update to a folio that was already live, with one that had the wrong viewer version, we have unpublished the erroneous folio.
As we can't rollback the viewer version I believe we need to create a new folio with the update content in it. If it is new, but all of its details (folio name, publication name etc) are the same as the currently live one, and we publish it, will people that have the current version see this as an update or a new issue? This isn't a scenario I've manage to find described in the documentation.
Let me know if that description is unclear!
  Thanks,
Toby

The default viewer version (which I think of as the "folio format") is v26. If you leave the default setting selected, you should not have any incompatibility problems because while the viewer version changes with each release, the folio format hasn't changed since v26. This is described in a couple different notes on this help page, but that's a lot of information to wade through.
Unfortunately, it's easy for people to get tripped up. When you see "viewer version" in the UI, it's reasonable to think that you're missing out on certain features if you select an older format instead of the newest one. At the same time, guidance from a number of different sources indicates that the viewer version needs to be equal to or smaller than the app version, or your users will be prompted to update their apps. Newer apps can always read older folios, but older apps cannot read newer folios.
It would be great if you could select a lower viewer version after you realize your mistake, but that would require more engineering effort than the team wants to spend. It's a similar issue with changing the article format. If you decide you want to switch an article from PNG to PDF, for example, you have to delete and re-create the article instead of changing the setting.

  • Error when updating published folio

Preparing to submit app for iTunes approval and testing using TestFlight. All was going well until I tried to update content in an iPhone rendition. One article needed an edit, the edit was made and folio was shared with application account. I copied the corrected article to the published folio and deleted the old article. It's published as Public and Retail. Folio Name and Product ID were not changed.
After updating the published folio, the viewer shows there is an update available for that folio. But when tapping to download the update, I receive an error that says "the file is missing or is invalid".
    Please help if you can...
    Thanks

The in-app and Product ID match. I re-published the folio and now I can download it in the viewer app in TestFlight, but the updated article is not there. I selected Update folio again, but the old article is appearing in the viewer and there is now notification of an update now. Is this an issue with caching in TestFlight mode?

  • Replacing publisher

    Hi,
anyone knows if it is possible to add the functionality of a publisher to a subscriber?
In fact I need to reinstall a publisher running Cisco Call Manager version 4.1.3 because of system instability.
    Thanks in advance
    Antonio

Unfortunately no. To replace Publisher you need to have good BARS backup, rebuild the Pub, upgrade to version of backup (any SRs and ESs), and restore from backup.
Few times I've seen broken replication between Pub and Sub after restores. In this case you would manually re-establish replication or use dblhelper utility.
If you have a hardware issue but the drive is good you can just move the drive to a good identical system and that should work.

  • Acrobat workspaces - published folios not viewable

    Hi
I normally use acrobat workspaces to view the size of DPS articles that i create and publish.
In the past i have just had to log in to the workspaces paneln and any DPS folios that i have uploaded are viewable in the lefthand panel under the heading Shared Workspaces.
I logged in today and my most recently published folios are not visable in this panel.
Is there something that i need to do to get the folios to show up here?  They have always been automatically available to view here without me needing to do anything and i don't think that i did anything differently from my normal DPS publishing procedure.
    Thanks,
    Ben.

That's correct. DPS servers are now independent of acrobat.com, so the folios and articles no longer appear in acrobat.com workspaces.  Displaying the article size in the Folio Producer is on the roadmap. Until it's implemented, one workaround is to view the size of the .folio file for each article in the temporary folder. (It helps to create a shortcut/alias for the temp folder.)
On a Mac, it's located in <username> > Library > Preferences > StageManager.#### > Local Store > dmp. (With the newest Mac OS versions, hold down Option and choose Go > Library.)
On a PC, the temp folder is located in [username] > AppData > Roaming > StageManager.#### > Local Store > dmp.

  • Updating already published folio

    Hello.
I am not very sure, how to update already published folios. Yes, i know, there is a update button DPS Folio Produser
But, if i upload folio to my user account, then share it to application acount for distribution? In application account i copy my already shared folio and publish it.
After updating content in my account the content of the updated folio is not transferred to the published folio in application account.
Must i copy the folio again and publish it again? And my clients must download that folio again?
I tried it and somehow my clients began to see 2 copies of the magazine in distribution app.

iGeo suggestion is the way to go in your case.
    1. Have your freelancer share the corrected folio with your(application account)
    2. Open the shared folio
    3. "Copy to" the corrected article into your live folio
    4. Delete the outdated article from the live folio
    5. Re-arrange the articles to order
    6. Hit the "Update" button on your folio producer dashboard
You should now see the changes in your live folio

  • Can I restrict who views a published folio

Hi, I'm producing a folio for a group of individuals. The folio contains info that I want only these individuals to have access to. Is it possible to restrict a published folio so only the people I wish to veiw it have access to it. Otherwise would It be better just to use the share facility for this purpose. Please advise?
    Many thanks

    Hi Ross,
You can create Enterprise Signed Build viewer, through which you candistribute viewer only within your organization or small group of people. This fetaure is available in DPS enterprise edition.
Or you can use share folio either from folio builder or folio producer by using share button.

  • Is it possible to replace an existing published folio with a new one?

    Hello everyone,
We created a folio with the wrong intention (landscape and portrait). I have now recreated the folio with the proper intention (landscape only) and have give the folio the same: name, dimensions, publication date and product id as the original. However when I publish the new folio it appears as a new download in addition to the original one we had created. Should it not appear as an update to the existing one? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You'll need to clarify what you mean by 'ebook', and how it's different to the HTML pages of your existing website...

  • Replace Publisher with minimal impact

    Hi all,
I have an existing cluster of 2 CUCM server running 6.1(2). They are using MCS-7825-H3.
I will be adding a new MCS-7835 server which I intend to make this the Publisher instead due to its better performance and power redundancy.
Was wondering if its possible to replace the existing Pub with the new MCS-7835 server. The "downgraded" Pub will serve as a Subscriber node instead.
    Thank you.

yes it is possible, just make sure to make a backup up current PUB and restore on new HW, the old PUB will require a reinstall in order to work as a SUB.
just make sure to ask for a license rehost before this to have it before the actual process takes place

  • Best practice to update inline/publish folio?

What is the best practice to organise me/my work/my file ?

  • Replace Publisher and subscriber!!

One of our customer have TWO MCS7825 CCM 4.13.
They want to replace both server with better hardware and bigger harddrive.
    Any documentation I can read???
Here is my thought, presintall at offline network, with same name, ip address, etc:
    1. Install CCM4.13 in new server which is publisher.
    2. Install CCM4.13 in second new server which is subscriber.
    3. Test the new cluster to make sure to have good data replications, for instance, add one IP Phone to test.
    4. Delete the IP Phone.
    5. Use BARS to backup existing CCM cluster.
    6. Use the same verison BARS at new Cluster and then restore it.
    7. Shut down the old existing CCM cluster.
    8. Power on the new CCM cluster.
    Thanks
    Ken

Do you have any SRs on the old server ?
    I would do this.
    1. Install CM 4.13 on the new server (publisher) with same name, ip as old publisher. This should be on an isolated network. Dont apply any SRs yet.
    2. Install subscriber to the same version (same name, ip etc as old subscriber). Put this also in the isolated network. Make sure replication is good. Test with an ip phone.
    3. Now if you did have SRs (4.1.3SR3a) in old server, then apply SR on the new publisher and new subscriber.
    4. Use BARS to backup existing publisher
    5. Use same version bars to restore the database on the newly installed publisher.
    6. Replication should get all the database info in publisher to the subscriber if you tested replication good in step 2.
    7. Shutdown existing cluster
    8. Move new servers to the production network.

  • Error when publishing folio

We are getting an error publishing a Folio - it just says 'An error has occurred while trying to update your folio. We could not start this operation. Please try again later'.  Well, we've been trying for 2 days now and it still doesn't work.
Can anyhow help us with what the problem could be?

I'm having the same trouble  - have tried what seems like more than 10 -12 times too - and still no luck.  Does anyone know of a reason other than the cover images that may be causing this error?  I also switched PNGs to JPEGs, and had no luck.
Thanks in advance for any help..!

  • Publishing Folio as PUBLIC - Problem with Product ID

How do we get a Product ID for folio publishing?
I had a lot of trouble learning this DPS and I am stuck over here.
Also.... I exported the .folio file for viewing it on the desktop using Adobe Content Viewer.... It produced a zip file. When the zip file was opened there was a .folio file. I opened that file in Adobe Content Viewer. This shows me only horizontal layout and not vertical. Please provide a solution for this problem too....
    Thank You,
    Ankit Tanna

    Hi Ankit,
Can you explain what you are trying to build? Will you be using DPS Single Edition or a DPS Pro/ Enterprise? Will you be building a Single Edition app or a multi-folio app?
For Single Edition, you can just 'make up' any productId, for example "tanna1"
For previewing your folio on the desktop, you can just hit 'preview' in the Overlay Creator in Indesign ; no need to export and download a ZIP file. This is only needed if you will build your own Single Edition app with Viewer Builder.
    With kind regards,

  • Fee for publishing folios/apps as Creative Cloud member?

I am a Creative Cloud member and want to take 2 or 3 magazines I design online and make them into apps. I know I have to pay Apple a $99 yearly developer fee but is there any fee I need to pay Adobe? It's confusing becuase with my Creative Cluod Membership it says "Design and submit an unlimited number of iPad apps" so can I make the 2 or 3 magazines into apps each month and pay nothing since I am a Creative Cloud Member or does making each magazine/folio into an app costs $395?...that seems like a cost no small publisher can afford each month.

There is no extra fee that you need to pay Adobe. If you are a Creative Cloud member and you maintain your Apple $99 yearly developer fee, you can submit as many iPad apps as you want.
Check the Apple guidelines for app approval. Apple doesn't automatically approve of any submitted app. For more information, see the Step-by-Step Publishing Guide.
