Replace standard HTML editor..Please guide

Hello All,
Is it possible to replace HTML editor with another editor like JCE editor?
If yes, please share your experience
If not with JCE, please let me know as to which other editors can the HTML editor be replaced with?
If the HTML editor cannot be replaced, is there a way to provide another option for KM users...something like the 'Open With...'option we have while working on windows.

Secondly, am not sure this happens but just to be sure:
Ive heard that some client users have edited the file offline but the moment they upload the doc/file in Portal/KM, some of the tags miss out.
Including this, there are many other bugs in HTML editor and this is the reason why client wants to replace it.
Thirdly, I had also suggested to go with Web Page Composer but then again, its buggy.
We are on EP7 SP9
Any thoughts on this?

We have chosen to replace the standard HTML Editor in the Web Page Composer by the TinyMCE Editor. I have worked my way through the document written by Boris Magocsi (https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/f04b5c5d-3fd2-2a10-8ab0-8fa90e3ac162) and the TinyMCE Editor is diplayed when we add or edit a paragraph.
However, we can not type any text in the input field anymore and we can not click any of the buttons in the TinyMCE editor. Can anybody help a total Javascript newby with fixing this? Full points will be awarded obviuosly. Thanks in advance!

Note: We are on NW 7.0 SP 15 and the WPC component is not patched yet. We are trying to complete that today and patch it to patch level 1.

Standard html Editor

One of the text field , I use standard html editor to enter the text. I can copy text from any other text editors like MS Word etc,
But Is there any way that I can copy an image from some place and paste to field through the html editor and insert a hyperlink on this image?.
I copied an image from MS Word, but it is not visible after pasting to the html editor, I copied from other html pages , it worked, but I cannot add a Hyper link on this.

Change or replace KM HTML Editor

Hi again,
I would like to customize the KM HTML Editor or replace it with another Editor.
Has anyone done that before?
If so, I'd like to know how to achieve that!

I figured it out myself, under System Administration - System Configuration - Knowledge Management - Content Management
Utilities - Editing - HTML Editing
There are these options:
Always Use Secure HTML Editor
Allow Only Basic Formatting
Allow Links
Activate Clipboard Buttons
Allow Preview
Allow Indenting
Allow Tables
Allow Bullets and Numbering
Allow Images
Allow Text Size and Font Settings
Allow Color Settings
On Dev we had all options ticked so for us that meant 'Allow Only Basic Formatting' was giving limited icons on the HTML Editor toolbar. It is worth noting that if 'Always Use Secure HTML Editor' is not ticked then the other options dont do anything, it is all based around this first option.

This cannot be customized. In a future release we might (might) have an editor that you can customize but we do not have that now. The very last icon you see in the Standard HTML Editor is 'Maximize the editor size' (looks like a window) and it will expand the textarea to fill your screen.

Xml Form Builder HTML Editor

Hi All,
In my xml form builder application, i have to insert an image inside the UI "HTML Editor". But there is no option called as "insert image from km" into the HTML Editor? How can i have that option called "Insert Image From KM" ?
I tried "configuration of the HTML editor" in
Knowledge Management  Content Management  Utilities  Editing  HTML Editing.
I enabled the option "Allow Images". Then too it is not reflecting in HTML Editor UI.
What else can be done for getting that property on HTML Editor UI?

Hi,
My understanding is that the standard HTML editor control from SAP is quite limited. You can copy and paste an image into it (but the image has to already be in KM) - it has no nice control for selecting or positioning the image....
Some options:
1. There are options like TinyMCE which I belive can be used in place of the standard HTML editor control.
2. If the structure of the content on you page is fixed then you could add images into the form as images that the user would provide links for - but this is not as free form as you would maybe like.

This code have differents fonts size, bulleted and numbered list.
In a HTML Text Region with Form Report Template in other page I show this HTML code but I don't see the sizes (IE 7 and Mozilla Firefox) and bulleted list (IE 7) fine.

You probably don't see the sizes because the css of your theme/template is still there.
I believe there's a * defined, which hurt me in the past as well.
If you look at Firebug for your region where you expect to see the different fonts, you should see which css it uses.

Add image/object in HTML Editor Standard item (apex 3.2)

Hi,
I'm using the HTML editor standard item from Apex3.2.
I want the possibility to add an image/object in the editor, but I don't see that option on the HTML editor standard item.
How do I activate this option? Can someone help me out please?

Yes, it would take something like that. Another option, although not any easier really, it to use the latest CKEditor.

How to embed image tag in HTML Editor Standard

Hi all,
I am using HTML editor standard in my application. I have placed a custom image to show on header region in custom folder. Now i want to give a image tag in HTML editor with a source to this file path. Now when i press save button, then the complete HTML with the image tag should be saved in the custom table.
Can anyone help me in this regard?,

I suggest you to use Button control instead of Image control .... so that you have more control as you need a click functionality ...

Single line space after enter in html editor standard

hi,
In html editor standard, if I press enter then it goes to 3rd line and if I press shift+enter then it goes to 2nd line.
How can I change this shift+enter functionality to enter only.
It should ge to 2nd line just by clicking enter only.....

It's an HTML editor, NOT a text editor. It generates an HTML document fragment, NOT lines of plain text.
Pressing return generates an HTML paragraph element (<p>), which is then affected by a CSS styling rule (either for the editor, the page, or the default for the browser) which is adding a margin (usually 1em, i.e. roughly 1 "line").
Pressing shift+return generates an HTML break element (<br />), which splits the current paragraph but is not subject to CSS in this case.
If HTML structure is needed in this item, but the appearance is inappropriate, then modify the CSS. If not, use a plain textarea and display the resulting text as a <pre> element to preserve the whitespace as entered.

WYSIWYG HTML editor extension or replacement

Hi everybody,
We have a client that needs additional functionality in the WYSIWYG HTML editor in Oracle9iAS Release 2. Specifically the client needs to add pictures to an article/text in a simple browse and insert kinda way. It would be desirable to be able to choose from the users harddrive and pictures in a repository.
Is there any way to extend or replace the build-in the WYSIWYG HTML editor ??

How to print html text created with HTML Editor Standard?

I would like to print the text I added with the HTML Editor Standard, using advanced printing. I have made up a Word document with a Report Query and a Report Layout, but the text pops up as html text. Also when I use HTML as output the text shows as "p strong hallo /strong /p" (but then with < and >) instead of hallo . I understand what goes wrong, but I am unable to solve it. Is there a way to work around this?

This is a little late to take action on, but if you are in the US you can file a report with the Better Business Bureau so there is a complaint on-record. Misrepresentation is a difficult thing to go after.
Apple will not get involved unless this is an authorized reseller, and then it is not likely they will attempt to force a reseller to make good on the sale item.
If they are not an authorized reseller and the service that repaired the iPhone was not an Apple authorized service center there will not be a valid Apple warranty on the iPhone. Did the distributor give you any warranty information?

HTML editor (URGENT...PLEASE PLEASE)

I developp an HTML editor (JTextPane) and I have several problems :
1) when I use setText() to load some code I have generated previously, there is a new line which is inserted at the end of the document (new paragraph in fact). how can I remove it?
2) when I insert a new image (<IMAGE SRC=....>) at the beginning of a paragraph the image is inserted at the end of the previous paragraph
3) the editor is an applet. So when I insert an animated gif in a document and reload the applet the gif disappears. I have read that Image.flush must be used but this method deletes some components!
