Replace timeline and keep existing chapter playlists

I have already authored my project and set up all the existing Chapter playlists on Time line A. however, i noticed a mistake and had to re edit the timeline as it has been imported from premiere as one continuous file. I wish to re import it as timeline B, with all the same chapter numbers and names and keep all the exisisting chapter playlists and links, but when i go to delete Timeline A it says that it will delete all existing Playlists. Is there any way around this? Please help otherwise i will have to set them ll up again!!

I think the problem is that the .avi file contains audio, and the .m2v is an elementary video stream.
Can you get an .avi of the replacement asset? Your other choice would be to mux the elementary audio and video streams into a single .mpg program stream.
I normally wouldn't recommend muxing the elementary streams. My choice would be to redo the timeline/playlists using the elementary streams no matter how long it took.

its 1000s of songs . Originally I used the time machine as a networked drive but it can cause the songs to pause so I'm thinking it would be better to have the songs on the internal imac drive

Do you mean on your Time Machine backup drive? Or are you actually accessing the backup? In either case you shouldn't be doing that. If you haven't space on your HDD to store the iTunes Library, then at least put it on another external drive.
Since you did not provide any information about what's actually "on my time machine," here's what you would do. The entire iTunes folder should be stored in the /Home/Music/ folder. Within that folder you would have three folders: imm Media, iTunes, and iTunes Playlists.

Import the music on the external HD into iTunes. If you don't want iTunes to make a new copy of each track that is stored in your iTunes Media folder on your PC's internal HD, make sure the Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library option is NOT ticked from under the Advanced tab of iTunes Preferences. Just remember that if you go this route, you'll always need to have your external HD plugged in before you start up iTunes.

Replace footage and keep grading in place?

Hi all
I'm working on a production with a less than ideal post work flow. Its a tv show with lots of fx shots and I'm being delivered the project in chunks. So I'm doing scene change detects and obvioulsy working without an EDL. So I had to do the first session with some shots being incomplete. Now I have a revised "chunk", same length, etc, but with finished FX shots. I'm trying to figure out if there is a proper way to just replace the clip. It has the same scene changes, so I was goign to try and trick speedgrade by replacing the source footage with the new one and naming the file the same way, but it seems there must be a better way. Is there?

Hi,
You can replace the existing clip with drag&drop:
- Open reels browser (Timeline-Reels)
- Browse to new clip
- Drag&Drop new clip onto clip in reels browser
This should replace the source clip and keep SCD settings.

I think I messed up. How to uninstall iLife disc and keep existing iPhoto.

Ok. I was reading some other answers but didn't see this one. After upgrading to Mavericks 10.9.5, I began having problems with editing in iPhoto.
And upon opening iPhoto, it would take forever. Usually I just minimize it in the dock. So, if I do too much editing to my photos, they come out half overexposed and half normal. No rhyme or reason. No particular photos. Just random. Only if I do a lot of editing. I have to revert the photos and only do a little editing. Annoying. Spoke with Apple support for 2 hours. we tried everything he could think of. Nothing fixed it. He thought it might be a glitch in the software so he sent me a new iLife disc. Now when I bought this iMac in 2009, it already had iPhoto on it. No disc for that particular application. So the disc he sent me was the bundled version iLife '11 for version 10.6 or later. Now here's where I think I messed up. I didn't delete my existing iPhoto before I clicked and installed the new disc. (My icon is the orange palm tree BTW) so after install was complete, I clicked on it and it and the icon got a white circle with a line through it and a pop up that read, " Please run software update to install it now. it offers two buttons to click...."Software Update" and "OK". When I click on the software update, it takes me to the Yosemite upgrade feature (which I don't want). What did I do?? iPhoto won't open at all. Now I just want to forget this disc and go back to my screwed up iPhoto version. Help???

Nevermind. Fixed the issue. Had to go back and install the earlier versions.

Conversion of ad20 non raid to a D20 raid 1 and keeping existing OS/data

I have a new D20 with windows 7-x64 pre installed on it. I purchased a second Lenovo supplied sata add in drive to convert the system to raid 1.
When I add the “raid 1” in support in the bios, the system when it reboots does not recognize the existing windows 7 partition.
When I used “other mfg” on board raid configuration, the working partition was considered the master partition and was automatically mirrored to the new added drive (making it raid1)
My expectation was that there would be either a “thinkvantage” tool that allowed you to do this from the OS, or there would be a some OS add on tool that performs this function
So my question.. Can you convert a d20 non raid to a D20 raid 1 (given drives are the same etc), and if so (I am a glass half full person), what is the process required to do so.

if the marvell RAID controller hasn't been enabled, you'll need to install the driver. it can be found here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-73697
after this is installed, boot into the D20 BIOS and enable RAID. reboot again into the unconfigured drive and see if you can get into windows. if so, you can set up your RAID 1 array.

Change column datatype from varchar2 to number(10) and keep existing data

Hi,
I need to change the datatype on a column that already has data in it from a varchar2 to number(10). The data that is already there is not necessarily number data, however I must be able to keep the old data to. We are running 10g. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks. Here's the current data.

Restoring iPhone and keeping existing (old) 3.1.3 OS

My legacy iPhone is due for a restore. It's been a long time and I'd like to keep it at it's current OS level - 3.1.3.
The restore screen tells me that it will upgrade the OS to the latest version. Is there a way to keep it at the current version?
I believe that 3.1.3 was the last version I downloaded. But there might be a later version on my drive. I really can't remember, and I'm not sure where it would have been stored if I did a "download only" of a later OS.
Any help would be appreciated.

Of course, I'm not interested in downgrading. I'm interested in maintaining the phone with it's current OS. I was hoping there was a way of not having Apple force an upgrade on my tired old phone.

your content is independent of your executable files so you can uninstall/change pse 12 without losing your content though, as a matter of wise computing, you should have your content backed-up - preferably to a directory not undergoing changes.

Chapter playlists ok in preview, not on burned disc

one long soccer timeline of 66 minutes, chapter playlists set up properly, all ok in preview but out of 15 chapter playlists, 4 do not work on burned disc...tried making image then burning on different media...no change....remade project from start and different playlists now not working...returns to proper menu but not at end of chapter, on TV dvd display chapter has appropriate time remaining but disc jumps to menu wrongly.....if i fast forward dvd it sticks for a second at point where it wrongly returns to the menu then continues in fast forward mode ....all playlists set up the same, links are right...

Can't thank you enough for taking the time to hazard a guess about my problem.
I'm a real newbie with regard to video editing, so not conversant with much of the language, but all of the movie's clips were recorded in 16-bit stereo and the resulting DVD was played back through my television, which is a widescreen playing through its own speakers. I think the pertinent information, however, is that everything in the movie plays perfectly with the exception of this one clip, which was produced in exactly the same way as the rest of the movie. The one difference is that we used a different microphone for this clip. But again, this clip, like the rest of movie, plays fine when being previewed in the computer. Go figure.

Yes, just to show it works. In your case, the second dynamic action has to be something like this:

Entire timeline plays smoothly; chapter playlist stutters regularly

I have a DVD layout of NTSC widescreen footage with menus containing: (1) a "Play All" button which plays the full timeline and (2) "Scene Selection" buttons which play various chapter playlists from the same timeline. The full timeline plays perfectly and smoothly throughout. When certain chapter playlists (even some containing only a single chapter) are selected, they play all the way through but they have about a quarter-second stutter (both audio & video freeze) in a regular pattern which occurs approximately every 16 seconds. I have rebuilt the Encore project from scratch (except that each time I re-used the same encoded video produced by Premiere), but I keep getting the same stutter on the same chapter playlists but never on the exact same footage when it plays directly from the full timeline.
Has anyone had this or a similar problem? Any ideas?
