Replaced airport, some devices won't connect.

I replaced my airport express with a new one. My ipad's and macbooks connect to it, but my iphone and my ROKU won't. Any ideas?  I've reset the network settings on iphone, no luck, reset the network a million times with every different setting I can think of, no luck. Help?

Thank you for your suggestion, but it ahs resulting in longer having the network on my imac either. I may just start again from sqaure one. I just hope this isn't a persistent problem. Very disappointing.

  • Some devices won't connect to wifi network after resetting network settings to default

    Hi all,
I had to restore to the default settings on my 4th generation Time Capsule today and now half of our devices will not connect to the wifi network.  The macbook pro (mid 2010 OS 10.9.4) that I used to reset the time capsule with and my iPhone 6 (8.0.2) both can connect just fine.  However, our household's two iPad Airs (8.0.2), an iPhone 4s (iOS 7) and a Macbook (late 2009 OS 10.6.8) all can't connect to the internet.  The macbook connects to the network, but an exclamation point appears over the wifi symbol.  The two iPads and the 4s won't even connect to the network.  I initially named the network the same as before with the same password, but then changed it thinking that might be the issue, to no avail.  I've restarted the Time Capsule and all the devices that can't connect.  I've also made them forget the network and try to rejoin.  The router is connecting with DHCP, it is in bridge mode while connected to a cable modem, and the wireless security is set to WPA/WPA2 Personal.
I'm at my wit's end.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If your cable modem is a pure modem the TC must be in router mode.. ie DHCP and NAT.
It is easy to find out.. check the IP you get on the WAN of the TC in airport utility.
Your limit is because only one or two public IP are available.
If that is the not the problem please give more info.
    What modem do you have??
And give some screenshots of the setup .. summary page from the TC and network and Internet tabs.

  • Devices won't connect to password protected WiFi

As MANY others apple devices won't connect to my WiFi, but only when it is locked by a password.....
I have tried everything I've seen on here & I am beyond fed-up.
I have a 5c, but when others have visited with their iphone or ipad it also does not work.
Before the update it said 'unable to connect to network,' now it says 'incorrect password.'
This all began months ago when I replaced my router with COX. My laptop works completely fine...
My iphone will connect, but only when the network is NOT password protected. I live in a condo, so
it isn't an option for me to leave it unlocked.
Please help I will try anything! Also I am not a 'techy' so if you ask me something complicated
    I may need some guidance.
    Thanks

  • "another device is using the same ip address.." - iOS devices won't connect to AEBS wifi.

I've got a Motorola modem/gateway - 3360 from WalMart.  I have the AEBS working in bridge mode connecting my iMac & Printer fine, but my iOS devices won't connect.
While troubleshooting & trying all types of settings, I was able to get EITHER the iMac or the iOS devices connected to internet, but not both at same time.
Then I noticed I am getting "another device is using the same ip address.." message.
I have changed the AEBS ip address & had been able to get either the iMac or iOS devices working depending on which ip address I use.
BUT now, all my iOS devices dont connect to the internet regardless of the ip address of the AEBS.
All my iOS devices see the network, and accept the network password, but they do not connect to internet, circle just keeps spinning...
    Any assistance is GREATLY appreciated.
    Thanks for any assistance,
    Dave

It looks like may have to go back to square one and delete my network & set it up from scratch if I don't figure it out.
If you do go this route, I would like to make a suggestion for your consideration, and that is to assign static IP addresses to devices that are "permanent" on your network or ones you want to make sure can be reachable at all times. These (again) would be servers, routers, wireless access points, network printers/scanners, NAS devices, etc.
I would recommend the following IP addressing scheme as a baseline and you are certainly free to deviate in any way you see fit to meet your networking requirements:
Reduce the number of IP handed out by DHCP. By default, most routers will provide 100-200 private IP addresses within their DHCP leasing scope. The AirPort, by default, assigns 10.0.1.2 thru 10.0.1.200 via DHCP. Your Motorola may assign 192.168.0.2 thru 192.168.0.150. Either way, I would reduce this to no more than fifty (50) total which should provide you with plenty of addresses even if you are hosting gaming convention at your home.
I use the following IP address scheme for the "permanent" network clients:
    Network Printers: 10.0.1.200 - 209
    NAS Devices: 10.0.1.210 - 219
Wireless Access Points or routers reconfigured as bridges: 10.0.1.220 - 229
    Servers: 10.0.1.230 - 239
With the "permanent" devices pre-assigned with static Private IP address that are outside of the DHCP range, you shouldn't ever get an IP address conflict again.

  • I have an old Airport Express that won't connect/set up with Yosemite. Any help appreciated

Hi, as the title suggests I have an old Airport Express that I have always used wirelessly to connect to my hifi but now that I have upgraded to Yosemite it won't connect via Airport Utility  6.3.4 and Yosemite won't let me use Airport Utility 5.6  Seems I'm stuck between a rock and hard place! Ethernet is no use as the hifi is in another room. Yosemite is running on an iMac and is connected wirelessly to Virgin Broadband. Thanks, Alex.

If the AirPort Express is very old, such as the original 802.11b/g - only models A1084 or A1088 you will need a commensurately older version of both AirPort Utility and OS X to configure it. Those models were discontinued about seven years ago and support for them is gone. Ethernet won't make a difference anyway.
You may find instructions or links to web sites with instructions to modify OS X in an effort to circumvent that restriction. I cannot emphasize enough just how bad an idea that would be.

  • Some devices won't show up in iTunes device list

I have iTunes 11.1.4.62. I can sync some devices just fine (nan gen2, iPod Classic), as they show up on device list within iTunes when connected via USB. The PROBLEM is with other devices (iPhone 5, Nano 5th gen, iPad 4th gen) that do not show up on device list when THEY are plugged in via USB.
Have uninstalled and re-installed iTunes. Verified that all Apple Service (helper, etc.) are running. Any ideas as to why some of my deives would stopp showing up on device list (they did until the most recent iTune Update).

Here you go...try the fix in this thread...

  • I can't get my iPod Classic (3rd gen) to reset. Device won't connect to iPod server.

I have an iPod 3rd gen classic with the 160 GB HDD.  All attempts at resetting the device elicit a dialog that states that iTunes can't read the contents of the iPod and that I should go to the summary tab in iPod preferences to click restore to factory settings. When I hit OK the iPod appears in the devices list in iTunes and the title box appears identifying the iPod by serial number, but notes the capacity of the device as 0 KB. My only option is to press the restore iPod button. As soon as the button is pressed I get a dialog which states that iTunes cannot access the iPod software server because I am not connected to the internet. This behavior has been consistent in 2 versions of iTunes (I just got 11.1.5.5) and 2 versions of iPod software (now 2.0.4 up from 2.0.2).
I got into the iPod diagnostics (center + previous, FYI) and tested the drive which appears to be fine. I'm going fairly nuts with this 'cause I gots to have my tunes and have been diligent about troubleshooting only to hit this wall. Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Dave

    Hi Dave,
Have you checked to verify your iPod is a Classic 3rd gen? Apple's website is kind of confusing when classifying the different generations of the Classic iPods. My thoughts on the differing classifications of iPod Classics are as such:  http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_iPod_models (scroll down to models) I have just finished replacing the battery in a friend's iPod Classic 3rd Generation and found that they only made a 10, 15, 20, 30, and 40 GB hard drive for those that look as such: 2003-2009 with 4 buttons across the top (back track, menu, play/pause, and forward track) and beneath that is the touch wheel (pictured below is an example of how iPod Classic 3rd Gens look).  If that is the case, someone may have upgraded the wrong size hard drive.  The previous person may have instead installed a compact flash card.  If I researched correctly, when upgrading to a compact flash card the iPod can be very touchy with which manufacturer of the compact flash card will work properly.  If you click on the link and scroll down to posts, some people have specified which compact flash cards work.  Best wishes.  Please let me know if you were able to resolve your issue. -joe p  http://www.tarkan.info/20080506/blog/iflash-compact-flash-compatibility-help-nee ded

  • Some Apps won't connect to the internet

    Dear All:
I am having some strange behavior. Some of my Apps will not connect to the internet, while others have no problem. Sometimes this happens for a few days and then things are all right, and then it starts again.
Today, for example, the Google Mail App, says that it can't connect to the internet and to retry. Retrying doesn't help. I removed and reinstalled the App and it didn't help.
If I go to gmail.com on Safari, I have no problem.
There are other Apps like this, that won't work from the desktop, but do work from Safari.
So I assume that there is some different way Safari and Apps go to the internet. I have no firewalls on my modem.
If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate hearing.
    Thank you.

    Try resetting your network settings.
    Settings>Genenal>Reset>Reset Network Settings.

  • Some devices able to connect to the wireless and s...

So I recently decided to reset my lenovo laptop to factory settings using the lenovo one key recovery. Unlike before, I now cannot connect to my bt infinity wireless or wired internet. It say limited connection but won't allow internet access.
I then realised that several devices are connected and working with the home internet including computers, ipods etc (all of which have been connected before I reset my laptop). But any new devices (including my ps3 and ipad) will not connect and have the same problem as the laptop.
    please someone help!

If you've never changed any settings on the hub, bar the admin password, I'd factory reset it - http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/11386
Then see if those devices that couldn't connect now can.

  • USB devices won't connect until restart

    Hello,
I'm having a problem with my mac. If I turn on my computer and connect a printer / ipod / wireless camera then everything works fine. However, if disconnect the device and try to reconnect it a minute / hour / day later then it doesn't recognise it. If I restart the computer, everything is fine again. I've read about other people having the same problems but there doesn't seem to be a solution.

  • Airport Utility cannot see Airport Extreme Device even though connected to wireless network

I'm trying to set up a Macbook Air for my wife. I have a home network of four Airport Extremes that were configured in bridge mode with an authenticated SSID and one that is open for guests. On my PC my airport Utility sees all of the base stations and can configure them fine. On the Macbook air the utility cannot see any of the base stations no matter how many times I scan. The strange thing is that it can see both wireless networks. A fact that may be related to the problem is that the Macbook Air cannot authenticate into the secured SSID. The password is correct. Other machines (PC/Mac) all have no problem. Apple TV 2's, iPad's, and iPhone's all have no problem. I'm stumped.
    Any help is appreciated! Thanks.

As usual in recent years, Apple creates and ships a problem (latest MacBook Air + Airport Extreme N + Airport Utility 6.1), and when multiple users encounter the problem, and post about it, nary an Apple supoort person to take ownership, so threads just die, like this one did. I'm having the same problem, and as a committed Apple customer, I just want to find any oither company to do business with.
(I'm sure connecting by wired Ethernet would work, but THE AIR DOESN'T HAVE AN ETHERNET JACK!!)
Love this community. Have had it with Apple.

  • TS3899 Have just uploaded iOS7 and now cannot get mail as device won't connect with server. Apple ID is ok  - any suggestions?

Have just loaded iOS7 and now I cannot send or receive mail . Device message is : cannot open mail cannot connect with server. Any ideas?

Had the same problem.  Deleted my account and readded it...still didn't work.  Had a call with Apple, and they couldn't figure out why the Exchange server wouldn't work.  They had me set up mail through Gmail, and that finally worked.  There must be a bug they need to fix for the Exchange Server.

  • TS3899 Device won't connect with email

My ipod touch stopped connecting with email a couple of weeks ago. I went through all the steps on the support  website. After deleting the account from the device, I tried to add it back and now all I get is a message that says "the IMAP server "apple.imap.mail.yahoo.com" is not responding". I have tried multiple times and checked all info for correctness.

Try resetting your Yahoo password. That is how I resolved your problem on my iPhone.

  • Hard Drive attached to Airport Extreme (AC) won't connect

I cannot connect to my USB hard drive which is connected to my new Airport Extreme (Wireless AC) router.  If I unplug the hard drive, it seems to work for a bit.  Then for unknown reasons, I am unable to connect to it.
It worked in 10.8 fine, I never had any problems until I just updated to 10.9 yesterday.
The official error I get is: "There was a problem connecting to the server 'Airport'. Check the server name or IP Address, and then try again.  If you continue to have problems, contact your system administrator."

    Two things to check:
    1) The drive must be formatted in Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Use Disk Utility in the Applications > Utilities folder to verify.
    2) The USB port on the AirPort Extreme is not a high powered port like you have on a Mac. It is often necessary to use a powered USB hub with any drive connected to the AirPort Extreme....even if the drive has its own power supply.

  • Device won't connect

I deleted everything from my Blackberry.  Now I need to sync and restore my apple address book contacts.  When I tried, Desk Manager froze, then when I restarted and tried again, it wouldn't connect to my blackberry.  It searches and seems to make an initial connection, but the connection fails to go through.

    Dear
BBDM (BB Desktop Manager) with the latest version having these kind of problems. Some users facing this as per my experience. NOw please check and verify these
    1.        Please check that the other PC having same BBDM will work or not.
2        Uninstall the BBDM and restart and then install the latest version from the website of BB then connect and check is your problem resolved.
    3.      If not then uninstall the BBDM you have currently restart and download the BBDM version 5. This will shourly resolve it. Because many users i am giving support are satisfied this way the when BBDM latest version gives prblem of syncing then do it with BBDM v5
    4.      If BBDM v5 wont work on your PC then do it on another pc
Please verify these i will further guide you as per your post.
I hope these will solve your problem and you dont need any more to post for your problem
