Replaced Itouch 2nd generation LCD and now it won't charge

Hi everyone and thank you for the warm welcome to the forum!
I feel bad but i have to ask for help already
I recently purchased a 2G itouch from my friend because half of the LCD didnt work and he got a new one
I ordered the replacement LCD and it arrived and while attempting to take the front panel/digitizer off, none of the clips would pop so out of frustration i basically just pryed it open, breaking the panel/digitizer
This wasn't an issue for me, however, because there were a few scratches on the front that I wanted to see gone anyway so no sweat
Later, though, I continued disassembly and while unattaching the LCD ribbon, I managed to clip the home button conductor (the actual button beneath the panel button) and it came off. Nothing is wron with it except that it is no longer in place
Through all this dismay, I managed to keep my composure because I got the new LCD installed and I plugged it into my computer and it powered up with a very crisp, beautiful display. But once again, that wasn't the end of it. After unplugging it a few times, it now wont read that it is charging, or that it is plugged in at all for that matter. I know the cable and usb port are both good because I attached a co-workers itouch and it charged just fine.
I guess through all of this, I have 2 main questions:
1) Can I solder the Home button conductor back onto the place where it belongs? (I can see the part on the board where it attaches)
2) Is there any possible explaination as to why it wont charge now, other than my awesome luck may have made the dock connector happen to go bad at that very moment?
I just wanna thank everyone in advance for the help and I know that through everyones commbined experienece and expertise, we can get this problem fixed

- Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use. Also, iOS 7 seems to make the iPod more sensitive to bad cables.
- Try another charging source
- Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

Apple Does Not recommend that. Please Read.

    From that article
    "Portables with built-in batteries"
Current Apple portable computer batteries are pre-calibrated and do not require the calibration procedure outlined in this article. These computers use batteries that should be replaced only by an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

Apple recommend calibrating the battery when you buy a new Macbook and then every few months, or monthly if it used on mains all the time. This, as Apple says is to keep the battery operating at maximum efficiency. When the battery discharges and shuts the macbook down, it still has reserve power for a good number of hours. There is also a logic board battery to hold various settings.
I rather think I will take Apples advice on using their equipment not yours, but I would be intrigued to discover what is it you know that Apple doesnt about its batteries?

I updated my phone yesterday and now it won't charge.  Is this normal?

Obviously not charging in not normal.
But iOS 7 checks to make sure that the lighting connector is certified by Apple. All Apple Lightning connectors and most Lightning connectors from recognized third parties are certified. But some third parties shortcut the certification process and these cables may not work with your phone.
If you are not using the original Lightning connector or a connector from Apple try that first.

You can try drying it out internally by wrapping the unit in a paper towel and putting it in a bag with a dessicant safe for electronics such as silica gel pellets, or failing that in a bag of dry, uncooked rice, for a few days. It's very probable that it's been permanently damaged, but it's possible that if you dry it out, it may then work. If after a few days in the bag it still has problems, then you'll need to pay to get it exchanged (by Apple) or repaired (by a third-party repair service) or buy a new iPhone.
    Good luck.

  • Hey i bought a brand new MBP like 6 months ago and now it won't charge

i bought a brand new MBP like 6 months ago and now it won't charge. I tried using a friends MBP charger of the same year as my computer but it still says not charging at the top right corner of the computer screen where the charging symbol is. This problem just happened out of nowhere because it was working the day before then the next day it just stopped working saying it is not charging. I tired doing all of the suggested techniques to fix it but not luck.
This is the battery report is when my MBP is either connected to my charger or my friends charger which works perfectly on her computer.

What can you do? Go shopping for a new iPad. Liquids and electronics do not mix. And, you already have a damaged screen. Replacement is your only option. You could take it to an authorized service center but I'm I think their evaluation, given what you told us, would be to replace the iPad.

  • Battery on brand new iPod touch drains when synced to a mac and now it won't charge. If you're thinking of buying a new iPod touch, don't bother. The batteries don't work.

The battery on my son's brand new 64G iPod touch drained while it was synced yo the mac. Now it says 100% charged when it's connected to a charger, but drops to zero as soon as it's disconnected. It would appear that, either the battery is faulty or the battery indicator is faulty. iPod batteries are not supposed to drain while syncing. And rechargeable batteries are supposed to recharge after they have drained. Maybe I'm missing something simple here, does anyone know what it is?

  • Was reset and now it won't charge?

I have had my Ipad less than one year. I had about 20 pictures, no music, no videos. I had I Books that had 3 books on my shelf, TWCable app and Walgreens App. I tried to record an event I attended and I got a message saying I did not have enough memory .
I took it in to best buy, The Geek Squad person said he did not know what was using so much memory. He checked my usage and it did not add up to what it was indicating I had used. They reset it, so I am starting from scratch. Well I bring it home and it needed to be charged. It was at 5% and that was 6 hours ago. It is now at 47% charged !!! Clearly it is not charging they way it should or should I say the way it was before I took it in.  It should have a full battery 6 hours later. I am charging with the one I rcv'd with my Ipad.
    I am so frustrated !!!!

Plug it into a power source for at least 30 minutes, then try resetting it again:
Press the Sleep/Wake button & Home button at the same time, keep pressing until you(hopefully) see the Apple logo, then release.

  • My battery drained in my iPad 4S and now it won't charge and just cycles through the Apple logo and battery low screens. I can't turn the machine off or on

My battery drained on my iPad 4s and now I can't turn it off or on. It just continues to cycle through the Apple Logo scree for about 10 seconds and than goes blank. Any thoughts would be appreciated

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

  • The charge on my iphone 3g has completely gone, and now it won't charge. How can I turn it on?

my charge has gone and now the phone will not charge now. What can I do? please can someone help. Mick from the UK.

    Hi Mick,
    The battery could have died...
Plug it in to the Wall Charger for 20 to 30 Minutes, then unplug it and try this...
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear and then Disappear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...
    Turn the Phone On...
If still no joy, it may need a New Battery, or it could be time to consider a New Phone...
If nothing works, take it to your nearest Apple Store and they will check it for you...
    Cheers,

  • Replaced LCD and now laptop won't sleep

    Hi everyone,
My LCD on the MB Pro shattered so I ordered a new one and replaced it myself. Everything went quite smoothly, except now the computer won't sleep. When I shut the screen, the apple stays lit up and the sleep light never goes on. If I choose "sleep" from the Apple menu, the screen goes black and it does appear to sleep, but the sleep light never goes on. Anyone have a clue what I may have forgotten to reconnect? Thanks. Sy

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
One thing to check is to be sure the sleep LED is plugged into the logic board. Especially since it does not come on even when "sleep" is selected from the menu.
The other thing to check is the sleep magnet location on the LCD panel. Check that it is correctly positioned. Polarity makes a difference. If it is missing, replace it with a new magnet.
    Good luck!

  • I restored my 2nd Generation iPod and now it is asking for a password that I don't know and never put into my iPod. Help!

I looked online for more help but to no avail. I tried to find the file on My Computer and to plug it into iTunes but it says that it cannot connect because it is foreign to the computer, since I just got the computer. I have absolutley no idea what to do!

From the limited amount of information you provided it sounds like the iPod was previously synced to another computer. You need to place the iPod in recovery mode and connect to the computer and restore via iTunes. For recovery mode see:

  • Got replacement MacBook Pro from Apple and now CS2 won't work. Help!

After a long story of woe, which is too long to get into now, Apple ended up replacing my near-dead two-year old computer with a new MacBook Pro. (Yay, Apple!) They imaged my old drive, and put it on the new computer, including the applications. I transferred over my CS2 Suite, but now I'm getting Space Monkey, and my Illustrator will start loading and then shut itself down. Since I got the original CS2, I've moved and moved and moved again, and the disks are no where to be found.
Does anyone have any advice about how to get the CS2 Suite up and running again? Am I going to have to call Adobe and plead my case with them for a new install file?
Help! I have so many files that I need to access.

Your best option is to reinstall it, and if you don't have the discs you'll need to contact Adobe.
Otherwise, since CS is not an Apple product, and your issues are not with an Apple product, you should post further questions regarding CS on Adobe's own forums at: http://www.adobeforums.com

  • My iphone 4 lock button stopped working and now it won't charge

    Hi.
A couple of weeks ago my iphone 4's lock button randomly stopped working, I had never dropped my iphone so I couldn't figure out why this had occurred. I did not see this as a big problem until recently when my iphone stopped charging. The iPhone had worked just as normal the day before it stopped charging. I usually charge my iphone over night, but one night it reached around 85% and stopped charging. I have tried it with several different iphone chargers and different plugs in the house but still the iPhone wouldn't charge. Now my iphone has ran out of battery and due to the fact that my lock button is broken, I can't try anything to turn it on. Does my battery need replacing?
    Thanks,
    Anna.
