REPLACED ITUNES FILE, LOST DATA PLEASE HELP

So i wanted to restore backup for my phone on itunes and the backups werent my own so i tried to create one and here was my process:
I reopened itunes and held down the shift key. And clicked the wrong file. So now all my stuff is lost because iTunes restarted. How can i get it back to normal

You'd want to open iTunes with the Shift key held down, and choose the original library (Likely in your Music/iTunes/ folder).

Delete the folder C:\ProgramData\Apple\Apple Application Support then try again.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

I've basically changed laptop, have removed itunes from one and installed itunes on new........
now i can view my library but can only play 89 (latest tracks) out of 1400??
The message to locate tracks leads to the 89?
Where and how do I retrieve my music.

This happens if the files are no longer where iTunes expects to find them. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the files, or that the drive they live on has had a change of drive letter, or is disconnected. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a single track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions. I can provide a step by step guide if you give me the two paths.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes.

Instead of removing the music from the cloud or the iTunes library why not shuffle your music using a Smart Playlist which excludes the holiday music, or tracks that are not checked. For example, use this very simple Smart Playlist:

I have Windows 7 on a Dell. Open and play iTunes in the compatability mode and use Windows XP (service pack 2). Disregard any messsages to disable the compability mode. This has worked for me. I have also reinstalled iTunes and played with burn speeds etc. These ideas did not work. Compatability mode works.

If you don't have access to the computers to manually deauthorize them (they were sold, stolen, etc), then you have to log into your account, deauthorize all computers, and then re-authorize the machine(s) that you want to have access. This page explains how.

iPod touches or any iDevices from Apple sync only to one computer. If you sync to a different computer, all your music will be replace with the music from the new computer's iTunes. If the music were purchased from iTunes, you can re-download them again otherwise the music on iPod touch will be deleted. Do you have iTunes backup?

1) ensure iTunes is authorized for your iTunes store account(s)
2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it.

What exactly are you seeing on the phone's screen ? If the iTunes icon and cable then the phone is in recovery mode, in which case it's too late to take a new backup or to copy any content off the phone - you will have to connect the phone to your computer's iTunes and reset it back to factory defaults, after which you can restore to the last backup that you took or just resync your content to it

The itunes store relies on certain components of safari, regardless of if you use it or not.

Restore loop (being prompted to restore again after a restore successfully completes)
Troubleshoot your USB connection. If the issue persists, out-of-date or incorrectly configured third-party security software may be causing this issue. Please follow Troubleshooting security software issues. .
Next try placing in DFU mode and then restoring.
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
Then try restoring on another computer.
Last, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

Not sure I understand how Migration Assistant is doing anything. I thought MA was for connecting your computer to another computer or volume and transferring files. I'm just not sure how you're using it. Like I said earlier, everything you do on your Mac overwrites more of what data may have been recoverable if there even was any. Not to kick you when you're down but this is exactly he kind of a situation where a time machine or other back up would have saved you a lot of heartache. I'm sorry but I don't think I can be of any help :-(

I just bought an Ipod Classic and it requires that you upgrade to v 8 (or later) in order to be able to use it. I have read awful things about v 8 so I was hoping to avoid it but when I plugged my Ipod into my macbook, it said I needed it. My dilemma is that I am TERRIFIED of losing my playlists and music. The last time I updated my ITunes, it erased everything right before my wedding (so we had to scramble with CD's the whole night). I am about to give birth and I have created playlists that I plan to use for labor and delivery that I do not want to lose, let alone all my music that I have spent hours putting on my computer and is now in storage because we just moved to a new state. Can anyone tell me how to install v 8 without losing my library and playlists and then how to sync my Ipod with the new version of the software without wiping everything out? I think I will have a heart attack if I lose my music. We are talking thousands and thousands of songs and I cannot retrieve if they are lost. Please help!
