Replaced Lenovo Motherboard- now Serial # and Model are Invalid in the BIOS
Greetings I recently replaced the MB in my K450 Desk Top-- (second time I had to replace it, first time was under warranty) I found an actual Lenovo branded replacement board spec'd for my machine, put it in, and it works flawlessly except... The problem is the BIOS reporting Serial # and Model as "INVALID". How can I update these values ?? The computer works fine with the exception of Office 365 asking me to (re) activate the software and I get 2 error beeps when booting up and a message about the model and serial.. I searched the American Megatrends site for help on this topic, but didn't find many solutions other than to re-flash the BIOS but even that wasn't clear whether I could update those values.. Any advice, suggestions ?
Lenovo generally accepts it, I don't see why they wouldn't...what type of a warranty do you have on this machine?
BTW, when you press F1 and enter BIOS, it's all there: somewhere in the very middle of the screen there's a row beginning with your machine type (say 7675CTO) and the next set of figures (no space in between)in the same row is your actual serial number.

I just purchased an AppleTV and am trying to connect AirPlay with my mac (2012 model) In 'system preferences > displays' an airplay menu is listed but it says 'no device detected'. My AppleTV and macbook are connected to the same network. Any suggestions why it is not working?
Troubleshoot the network as that is likely what is causing the issue.
Also, temporarily disable the firewall on the Mac and disable IPV6 on the computer. -

You can either resync the lost material to your iPad via iTunes or you can restore the device from backup, assuming you have been backing up the device.

I just downloaded the new OSX 10.8.3 operating system, and now my e-mails are stuck in the outbox. I've tried to send various ways with no luck. Help!
Does the new IOS 8 and instagram only allow pictures taken with the phone? as I can still choose from those, just not the ones I upload/save.
I don't know about instagram, but apps, that not yet have been upgraded to iOS8 can only access the photos that appear in the "Recently Added" album, because there is no longer a Camera Roll.
As a work-around, try to create an album of the photos you want to share to instagram. For other apps this helped to make photos accesible. -
I saved photos from my Macbook Pro onto my Iphone (using itunes, 4 years ago). My macbook is now dead and I need to get the photos I saved off of my iphone 3GS transferred to a pc. Any help... From my PC I can only access "internal storage"
The iphone is not a storage/backup device. The picture sycn is one way - computer to iphone. The photos are also reduced in size when synced to iphone so they are not of the original quality
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup of your computer.
Have you failed to do this?
If so, not good at all, you can e-mail the pics to yourself - keep in mind they will never be of the original quality -
Whenever i purchase movies and they are stored in the cloud and i want to download them to my computer it gives me a connection issue, error 43. i have not had this problem in the past and the only recent change is my internet provider.

When I close the cover - it really does take a picture and saves a photo. Luckly, it make a click, and pictures are seen in the photo album, and it does not appear to be forwarding. It is just gobbling memory and annoying as I can only delete these pictures one at a time.
It seems to take a picture of the counter top = I do not see the keyboard.
I am wondering ....It may be a kids game app that takes pictures of the screen or out the back camera. I am starting to think it may just be a sound effect when placing the iPad on its screen. So many things that may be unrelated but coincedental. It started in May (the sound) and so did the multiple pictures - starting to think they are not related.

I bought the Airport Extreme because I thought it would increase the range of the WiFi signal in my house. I have a DSL modem (also Wifi) and there are parts of the house that do not seem to have a strong Wifi signal. The Airport Extreme does not seem to be increasing my Wifi signal strength? Any thoughts on what I could be doing wrong? I am able to connect to it, etc. Just thought the strength would be better.
The broadcast power of all wireless routers and devices is limited by law.....and all manufacturers run their routers full blast.....so the relative signal strength of wireless routers from one manufacturer to another will tend to be remarkably similar.....despite the fancy advertising claims.
You may want to consider adding another AirPort Extreme to "extend" the signal strength in your home. If you decide to do this, the "extending" Extreme would normally need to be located at a point that is approximately half the distance from your "main" AirPort Extreme and the general area that needs more wireless coverage.
