Replaced logic board, but still having problems

I just got my Mac back from the shop. It had been spontaneously shutting off and, since my serial # was within the range for the replacement program, they replaced the logic board. (I thought it was the power supply that was buggy? Meh. I only half-understand this stuff anyway.)
Set it up last night and it worked smoothly. Put it to sleep before I went to bed. This morning, it wouldn't wake up--the power was off.
Gah! I'm beyond frustrated. What now?!

Call Customer Relations-1-800-767-2775. I think the number is the same for Canada.
Firmly, yet politely, explain your situation to them and have them open up a case number. That is the official way to essentially alert Apple to the potential misbehaving of their "Apple Certified Repair" centers.
It does happen that a repair center will replace a board with another one that turns out to be faulty. Happens. But Apple should know about this and follow the process.
I would take the stand that they should return a functional Mac to you first, and if the fan turns out to still be an issue you can deal with it later. Sounds to me like "the guy" may need to follow some logical troubleshooting procedures first to fix his problem.
You do not have a piece of crap, nor should you accept such a fate. Generally, if Apple cannot fix this by the third try they will replace your machine. This is not a given fact, but calling Customer Relations will begin the process.

    This is a known issue with Apple. I can't sent iMessages either...It' doesn't matter how many times I power down my phone, delete messages or disconnect from wifi...Very frustrating.

  • Replaced logic board, whine still there

    I had a whine-free mbp CD (Aug. 2006) before the logic board was replaced during a service session without me asking for it, now I have the whine. As I have received a brand new logic board, is it there no chance whatsoever that yet another logic board replacement would eliminate the whine, as my case indicates that the whine is dependent on something else? Or did I just get a faulty logic board?

    Above replacing the logic board, another board whose name I can't recall but it's supposed to be situated at the upper-left side and controll power in some sense was also replaced. As this did not fix the problem, the computer was handed back to me with a note stating that the problem is unsolvable at the moment. As that doesn't make me jump with excitement, I got in contact with Apple at a somewhat high level but it appears that my noise has to be high enough in order to warrant a replacement. And as to the best of my knowledge, the barrier for what level of sound that is acceptable according to Apple is very, very high.

    My laptop with Windows 7 was infected. I have Norton and Anti spyware. I reset back to factory setting and am still having issues. When I type, dashes and other symbols appear. What else can I do?

    If resetting the computer back to the original factory settings didn't resolve the issue, you can try reseating the keyboard connection from the motherboard. Simply just remove the connection and reconnect it and see if the makes any difference. I would only recommend this if you are out of warranty.  
    If your fine with doing this can you provide the model of the computer and I can provide the steps for you.  Here is a document that will help you find that information.

  • Upgraded MacBook Pro 15in RAM to 12GB but still having problems.

    Since I did the software update to OS X Mavericks around two weeks ago my MacBook has been on the fritz.  After around an hour of use, everything freezes and my MacBook begins to beep.  I read that the beeping code that I am hearing indicates an issue with the RAM.  There are three beeps, a pause, then three more beeps.  This continues untill I do a hard reset.  I decided to upgrade my RAM from the standard 4GB that it came with to 12GB (8GB and 4GB) to see if that would resolve the issue.  I installed the new RAM yesterday and my MacBook worked fine for the entire duration of use.  This morning I turn it on and the issues began again after around 30mins of use.  Can anyone help?
    A little info on the model MacBook I'm using:
    MacBook 15in Early 2011
    OS X Mavericks 10.9.1
    2 GHz Intel Core i7
    12 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
    Also, I dont know if it makes any difference but the RAM I upgraded to was purchased from crucial.com.

    Reseating means make sure they are installed and "seated" securly.  Take them out and put them back.
    You could also try running only one stick at a time.  If one stick is bad that could isolate the problem.
    And yes,  purchasing from Crucial was a good idea.  They provide Mac-tested and guaranteed RAM with a lifetime guratntee.  If you find one of the sticks is bad they will replace it, no questions asked.

  • Uninstalled and reinstalled my itunes but still having problems?

    Basically my iphone was stolen yesterday so now have a new one (with my old number). Was told I needed to connect the new phone with my itunes so that the data could go onto the new phone but...
    New phone requires a newer version of itunes which wouldn't update properly. Laptop ended up turning itself off and refusing to turn back on. Itunes didn't finish loading and now keeps asking me to verify my privileges in regards to Apple Mobile Device. Uninstalled itunes and reinstalled hoping that would solve the problem but no it won't fully upload and constantly asks me to verify this but not giving me a workable option to verify -Abort, Retry and Ignore are the only options provided in the pop up. All the options lead to itunes not uploading.
    Not sure what to do as I've never had this problem before?

    If you look at Settings > iCloud on each phone, is the Account different? The Apple ID listed there should control iCloud storage allocation.  [I assume your "icloud purchase" was more storage capacity.]
    The Apple ID is separately specified to control iMessage, iTunes and App Store purchases, etc.

    DT_AS400_1 -> Complex Type
    Payroll      1..1   (Should i put 0..0?)
       ->  Row  0..Unbounded And then Fields to be passed.
    I can't figure how pi can't detect the fields, i use them pretty often.

    Check if input message, has the field that is producing the output.
    Therefore, if you don't have any input to fill the structure root, you can fill it with an empty constant.

  • Fixed the 1604 but still having problems

    I eventually got around the 1604 by uninstalling / reinstalling iTunes. It took a few goes to run the restore file the failed update originally created but I got there in the end. Unfortunately iTunes is now behaving very weirdly and the "restore" hasn't brought my contacts / tunes / anything else back.
    iTunes recognises my phone and the phone appears in the left "devices" column as normal but it just won't sync. The "sync" option from the File drop down is greyed out, and the Sync tab in Edit > Preferences takes literally 5 minutes before it wants to show up and when it does it's blank. All the other tabs and settings appear to work as normal apart from "sync".
    Right now my phone is back to the point where I can receive calls, etc, but I have a backup that I can't use and at the very least I'd like to be able to sync with outlook to get my contacts back.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Okay, I've rebooted several times, tried recovery mode several times, scoured Google and these forums and tried every possible thing suggested and wasted hours of my time in the process. After going back to the "1604" error, then getting an "8" error and now with a partially recovered phone I'm starting to get quite seriously annoyed.
    It seems I have lost the photos I took last week in the south of France and all the contacts I added at the conference I was at while there. I also can't even get my existing contacts back from Outlook (I even upgraded to Outlook 2007 to see if that helped. No it didn't) onto this **** thing, meaning I'm getting SMS messages and I have no idea who they're from. It just won't sync.
    Short of reformatting my machine, does anyone else out there have any ideas that I may have overlooked? It really would be appreciated.
