Me being the idiot i am installed Windows 7, completely replacing OS X. I regret my decision but since i bought the macbook pro 2007 used, i do not have the original snow leopard. Someone please help. Thank you

Follow this to erase the ENTIRE drive and install.
How to erase and install Snow Leopard 10.6
Software Update to 10.6.8 and stay there, your machine is too dated for the later OS X versions.
Your good for another two years on 10.6, by then the machine should be dead of old age, so it's no sense in spending more money on software with 10.7/10.8 etc. Buy a new machine if you want the Lions.
OS X 10.4/10.5 need to upgrade, 10.6.8 ok still
FYI, OS X 10.7/10.8 have a LOT of strange changes, it's almost like Windows 8, screwed up bad.
Might want to wait it out while Jony Ive fixes things Scott Forstall messed up.
BTW I like Windows 7 in some ways, not as much as I like Snow Leopard, both are similar.
Windows 8 and OS X Lions, they are diverging rapidly, it's going to be your a Mac person or a PC, not both.

I think you mean you are replacing your Airport Extreme with a Time Capsule. Time Machine is software integrated into OS X 10.5 & 10.6 used to automatically backup a system to an external HD. Time Capsule is an Airport Extreme that has a hard disk integrated into it that can be used for storage or as a Time Machine backup drive.
Because you are currently on Tiger 10.4.x you can backup to a external HD using SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner. Having a backup is very wise before doing any major system update. After you have created the backup and have successfully upgraded to Snow Leopard you can still use the external HD for many things. The strategy I'd recommend is to use the new Time Capsule as your Time Machine backup and then use the external HD as backup using SuperDuper or CCC. Redundant backups is wise because backups can (and do) fail too! In addition both SD and CCC are bootable clones, this is useful in that if your internal HD crashes you can boot from a cloned drive and continue working until the internal HD is replaced.

I want to upgrade the 500gb HDD to an SSD on an S230u with windows 8 but want clone the drive

I want to upgrade the 500gb HDD to an SSD on an Thinkpad Twist S230u with windows 8 but don't want to lose the data and programs installed on the drive and have to start over. I tried to clone it but no software could do it. I tried acronis and EasyToDo. I was able to clone it with a duplicator but it wasn't bootable. Am I to assume that what I need to do is the following - 1- Create the recovery media on a 32gb usb stick. 2- back up the drive using Acronis (or other) 3- Physically replace the drive 4- boot to the USB Recovery Media and bring the system back to it's original state out of the box but with the SSD Drive. 5- Use Acronis (or other) to restore back up made of the 500gb prior to removal. Before you start cloning your HDD with acronis, you have to prepare the SSD:
at first: connect your SSD with USB to your notebook and
1. Start CMD.EXE as Admin
2. type: "diskpart"
3. type: "select disk x " x = Letter of your SSD
4. type: "list partition" the drive should be unformatted
5. type: "create partition primary align=1024"
6. type: "active"
7. type: "format fs=ntfs" --> wait some minutes
8. type: "assign letter=x" --> For example "x"
9. type: "exit"
Start acronis true image 2013 (trial version)
select "Backup" without empty sectors
you can select any partitions, so also the the invisible lenovo backup paritions
The Backup can be "Restore"-d to the SSD, incl. GPT (MBR like in UEFI Systems)
After all, the SSD is ready to use. Booting on USB gives here a blue screen. I tought it was my fault. It isnt. You can build in the SSD into your SATA Port and Windows 8 will boot very well.

2 Oracle database clustered on a SAN storage, and we need to replace the storage with new one, the database size is 40GB and the cluster service is running.
OS is Windows 2003 and oracle DB is 10g.

Now we want to replace SAN storage media.

Now have V.5-No longer able to have home page appear (Mytelus). Instead blank page except for Bing Search window. I want to go back to earlier version.

With earlier versions of Firefox, when I clicked on desktop icon, my home page of www.mytelus.com automatically appeared. I don't need the search engine called Bing which appears instead. Sharing Mac iTunes library with Windows PC (I want to be able to read/write)

Greetings from a new Mac user. I recently purchased a 27" iMAC running OS X 10.7.3. This iMac is now connected to my home network/workgroup.
- I want to build a new iTunes Library on my 1TB internal Mac HD.
- I want my 3 non Mac Machines (1 XP Prof and 2 Windows 7 Home) to be able to view the contents of my new (not yet built) iTunes Library resident on my iMac and of course be able to
- play that content.
- have play counts from my Windows-based be saved back to my iTunes Library.
- be able to rate a song from any computer (Mac or Windows) within this iTunes Library and have that rating saved back to this iTunes Library.
I don't want to have to rely on iTunes "Shared Library" function. In other words I want all PCs to be able to read/write to the same iTunes Library file.
Before I purchased my iMac, my iTunes Library existed on one of my Windows-file system external drives. The pre-requisites for allowing multiple Windows PCs to access/share/write to the same iTunes Library was to:
- share the Windows folder on the external drive in which the iTunes Library file was stored (allowing network users to be able to change the files), and
- make sure all Windows-based PCs ran the same iTunes software version.
Assume: I don't want to change the version of Windows iTunes software from the currently installed 10.5.0 version.
Question 1: Can my Windows PCs access and utilize the same iTunes library file that I plan to build on my iMac hard drive?
Question 2: What older version of Mac iTunes software should I install on my iMac in order to allow the Windows PCs to access and use the iMacs iTunes library file?

Hmmm... thanks for the reply. This of course, yields another question. When you say 'you could format to FAT32 which both can use'; do you mean format the iTunes Hard drive on which my iTunes music now resides? If so, this would mean I would need to copy the music off the internal iMac hard drive, then format the drive to FAT32, then copy the music back.

Sign out of iCloud Control Panel on your computer, restart the machine, then sign back in. Your photos should start syncing shortly.

Sometimes, the back arrow won't back completely out of a site I've been browsing, causing me to have to close the tab completely (along with any sites I want to get back to in that same tab)

For example, I had a browsing session going, looking at two different news sites in the same tab, then went to comcast to check my voicemail. When finished, I couldn't get out of the comcast site with the back arrow, only by closing that entire tab (session). I've experienced this problem with a few other sites as well. Very frustrating not to be able to just back out.

You can copy the files, but the ownership on the files still belongs to the other user account, once your done copying, then perform a #6 Reset Users Permissions and that will set all the ownership to that account.

Compatability with Windows 7 - titles in explorer

We are now having to replace XP machines with Windows 7 and we find that our pdf files will no longer display correctly in My Computer/Windows Explorer. The 'title' does not display.
We have relied on the 'title' in the properties of the pdf to help people find the file they want - it acts as an index for us.
Is there any way to get the title to display?
If not, are Adobe working on the problem?

Can you reply to this message if you are also having a problem with this. Adobe seem to be turning a blind eye to what can be quite a serious problem for some users.

I ran into this too and it drove me crazy. After much google searching I ran across PDF-XChange Viewer from Tracker Software. After installing this PDF viewer, my titles appeared once again in Windows explorer.

I found that the free version was enough to solve the problem.
But I still believe Microsoft and Adobe really need to get together and solve this because the loss of this feature when moving from XP to Windows 7 is significant - especially in the business world where we make extensive use of PDF files.
