Replaced the inverter, now makes noise.

Basically, the backlight started to fail so I replaced the inverter, and this inverter now makes an annoying noise. How can I solve this? Is the inverter bad? Can it be the inverter cable?
Thanks
More details:
The backlight works fine now. When the brightness is at max or minimum it does not make the noise. Depending on the level of brightness the pitch of the sound changes, and for some angles of the screen the noise is considerably louder.

Hi rizaree and welcome to Apple Discussions!
I would suggest getting this looked at. You don't know if other parts of the system have been affected. Unfortunately any problems caused by damage like dropping the MacBook are not covered by a warranty, but possibly they may be covered by your homeowner's/renter's insurance or by a credit card if you purchased the MacBook that way. Consult with your CC issuer and your insurance company to find out.
Eventually you are going to want that optical drive.
Best of luck.

• How to replace the inverter cable? screen gone black in MacBook

Hi
There is no apple service provider in my location. Can I replace the inverter cable without having to take the MacBook to an apple store? is it easy to do? and can I use any inverter cable? or does it have to be especially designed for Macbook?
I have a black Macbook. The screen used to go black sporadically, and now it has totally gone black, and I couldn't get it to work again.
Any advice????
Thank you

Looks like the cable in question being identical throughout "The Black Period".
Looking at it right now it seems easier to patch than waiting for a replacement.  Will report back if it wasn't.

The internal switch in the audio output port is stuck.  Try inserting the earphone plug a few times.  If no success, try jiggling a tooth pick inside in order to trip the switch.. If still no success, have the technicians at the Apple store genius bar do it for you.

- Sure sounds like the headphone jack is defective and requires replacement. Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack first.

• Dropped and now makes noise in disc drive

Hi, my Macbook got knocked off my desk while moving furniture the other day...no apparent damage, except now when I move it (carrying it in a backpack between classes) and use it again, the CD drive goes crazy and makes all these ejecting noises (there's no disk inside). It stops eventually if I shake it a little, and it doesn't seem to be causing any problems with the computer's function, but should I get this looked at? I don't want it to escalate into something worse.

• MacBook Pro Core Duo - replaced the keyboard, now I've got no illumination

Think I've put this is the right forum now!! LOL!!
Any thoughts? No keyboard illumination after replacing my old keyboard with a brand new keyboard & top panel/trackpad.
Machine is a MBP 2 Gig Core Duo.
Could it be the ribbon connector that connects the keyboard to the trackpad? Or is it one of the other connectors?
Thanks in advance,
Dan

Thanks for the reply
I'd done it myself (out of warranty a LONG time ago!!LOL!)
Checked in the links - and it looks like everything is connected fine.
Downloaded Labtick, but even on full, no illumination at all.
I press F9/F10, and get a "no entry" sign on the screen (with a greyed-out keyboard brightness icon)
Any suggestions?
forgot to say, running 10.5.7

• For some reason, when I'm on a web site, the margins now make it impossible to scroll down, unless I make the page smaller, but that's only a temporary fix.

Yesterday, I noticed that Firefox was loading web sites that took away the bar to scroll down. The only way to fix this is to adjust the page size, however, this is only temporary. The scroll bar disappears as soon as I take my mouse off.

Hello,
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
* On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* On Mac you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the option key while starting Firefox.
* On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
* Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshooting extensions and themes article for that.
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.
Thank you.

• Plastic of the hinges make noises

My Macbook pro early 2011 15 make a little noise when i open or close the dispalay. Is like a "plap" and it's at the level of the plastic of the hinges, and i think that is the plastic that make noises. Have you ever had this problem? If yes what did yo do? Do you think that i should call the assistence (i have bought it 3 weeks ago) or it's a "normal" noise? Sorry for my bad english but i'm italian! Thank you!

The plastic hinge cover can bind and, if it does, it can cause a noise.  I'd suggest opening and closing the clamshell, while pressing on various locations of the plastic hinge cover.  That will make one location "tighter" and another "looser", and can confirm if it's a problem or not.  I could propose a solution but, since your computer is under warranty, I suggest that you return it to be inspected by an authorized repair technician.

• CPU Cooler makes noise

I use CPU Cooler from PCAlert. It cools down CPU from about 55 to about 38. But the integrated audio makes noise when its running.
I also have a problem with GPU - my screen shakes with most resolutions. This effect increases with temperature.

Hi,
It sounds as if there is something caught in the cooling fans which is catching the fan blades. Visually check the fans through the air intake grilles to see if you can see anything.
Unfortunately access to the fans will involve some dismantling so I would try sucking any debris out of the fan intake grilles with a vacuum cleaner.
If the problem still persists it may be necessary to take the unit to an Authorised Service Agent for the cooling fans to be checked/replaced.

• HT4972 I replaced the computer I originally used to synch my iPhone. I get the message stating that my content will be erased, even though this is the computer I now synch with. Is there a way to make the update recognize the new computer?

I replaced the computer I originally used to synch my iPhone. When trying to update to iOS5.0, I get the message stating that my content will be erased, even though this is the computer I now synch my phone with. Is there a way to make the update recognize the new computer so that my content will be kept?

The best option is to copy your entire iTunes folder from your old computer to your new one using one of the methods described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527.  This will allow iTunes on your new computer to recognize and sync with your phone without deleting content.  You will also need to copy over any other synced data not in your iTunes library such as photos synced to your phone, calendars and contacts.
If you can't do this, these articles will help you start syncing with your new computer with minimal or no data loss:
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive

• My iMac goes to sleep and does not wake up, the fans also make a loud noise

My iMac has just had its hardisk replaced, few months ago. Now whenever I go into any website, do downloads and when it goes into screensaver it makes a **** of a noise then when I leave it it does not go into sleep but shuts down. If I try and restart straight away it won't switch on I have to wait a while. I think it gets very hot and might be shutting down. I have cleaned the fans and reset the SMU and PRAM. Any other suggestions or do I need to replace the fans???????????????????

You certainly have a heat problem, since the machine needs to cool down before you can turn it back on. Have you opened the case (as long as it's not an iSight) and vacuumed the fans and air vents? If that doesn't help, you will probably need to take it in to be looked at. Have you checked t see if you qualify for one of Apple's Repair extension programs?

• Recently replaced the harddrive in my macbook pro after months of inactivity, now my macbook pro won't start

I own a summer 2008 model Macbook Pro.  Last year, my harddrive crashed but I had no way of fixing the macbook at the time.  Fast forward to yesterday, I replaced the harddrive in my Macbook Pro with a harddrive that I took from a western digital 320gb external hard drive.  Now the laptop isn't starting up.  I press the power button, the DVD drive seems to spin up and then...nothing.  No lights turn on, no other components make noise, the laptop simply stops booting.  Now, I haven't fully charged the battery (only about 40% charged based on the 5 indicator lights on the batter itself), so I was wondering whether or not a fully charged battery would make a difference.  Please let me know if you guys need clarification, I know I'm probably being very vague right now.
Thanks!

I appreciate your help, but please don't just put me down like that
Most of the people that come on here, like yourself, don't actually give a resume of their level of experience. They are extremely vaigue, and based on the small paragraph of information it's up to us to try to gauge what level this person is at.
This is an extremely difficult and frustrating thing to have to do, because if we get it slightly wrong either way, and people instantly take offence & go on the defensive. Even though we are all perfect strangers until 3 or 4 sentences ago!
