Replacement 3GS phone has os3 old phone has os4, restore won't work.

Since the replacement 3GS iPhone has os3 and I had already gone to os4 on my old phone, I can not restore.
Suggestions?

The Restore should bring the replacement to iOS 4, then it will be able to use the backup from the other iPhone.

If you are in India, contact your local service center for a price quote. I don't know if Indian service centers can replace just the back glass or if they will need to replace the entire iPhone. To locate a service center, see:

Make sure you select "iPhone" for the product time. Only certain service centers can handle iPhones.

  • Phone wants to restore, won't sync

I recently connected my phone to my pc. Downloaded and installed updates for both itunes and iphone. phone update didn't work and I had to restore the phone. Now it won't sync. Everytime I plug the phone in, it goes directly to the restore page. I have "restored" about 5 times, to no avail. The restore gave me all my contacts and the calender, but none of the apps I have purchased have loaded, and I can't get to the sync function. How do I get past this?

No good answers. But some links:

  • ICloud Keychain - Dont have access to Phone Number for restoration is not working

    Hi Guys,
i tried to enable iCloud Keychain feature, when i toggled to switch it on/off.
in one of the steps, the verification code would be sent to the mentioned Mobile Number.
when you select dont have access to the number, it has to connect to Apple Support site to verify the identity of the user.
But i got an error message that Page Not Found.
Let me know if somebody else is getting the same error.
    Thanks.

If these are photos that were synced to your phone, the only way to extract them from your phone is third-party software, like this:

  • My phone will not restore or otherwise work. How do I find if my phone is worth keeping without spending money?

I have an iPhone 3GS. At first my phone was dropping service, then I got a pop up from the phone saying to fix this problem restore phone to iTunes. When going onto iTunes I choose to restore to original settings and update to iOS 6. After waiting for the phone to restore, an error came up saying there was a problem restoring the iPhone. So I tried again and the same error comes on. Now I can not access my phone and my phone is set at factory settings. I went back onto iTunes and iTunes does not register my phone. What do I do?!?

Take it to Apple for evaluation. There is no charge for an Apple Genius to l
look at your iPhone. Make an appointment to avoid delay.

Of course I didn't back it up
Then of course you can't recover your data.  The article from Apple on how to update your iOS recommends to make a backup first.
Not making backups is a very risky business.  Tell, me, what would you have done if, say, your iPhone had been lost?  Stolen?  Damaged beyond repair?
This is a harsh lesson to learn.  There are two kinds of people in the world; those that have lost data, and those that will lose data.  The difference is, are you properly prepared to recover the loss?
I advise you to start backing up your important data, whether it is on you phone or on your computer, immediately.

I recently installed an Airport Extreme 802.11N that I bought in May 2013. It replaced an Airport Extreme 802.11N that I bought in July 2007. My USB printer (Lexmark E350d) worked fine with the old Airport, but I'm having trouble with the new one. When I try to print, I get a USB Waiting message on the printer, and when I force a page to print by pressing Go on the printer, I get a page that says ERROR: syntaxerror OFFENDING COMMAND: true.  . . .cvt . . . fpgm . . . x . . .lglyf . . . <..J head . . .     STACK: / [    -mark-   /sfnts I’ve tried shutting down the printer and disconnecting it and the Airport, but that doesn’t help. I reset the settings on the printer. I upgraded the Airport firmware and removed, reinstalled, and upgraded the Lexmark printer driver. After I upgraded the firmware and printer driver, a few pages printed correctly, but then I got the same syntax error page as before. Any suggestions for getting the printer to work correctly?

Use a powered USB hub between the AE and the printer.. the usb port does sometimes have issues.
Try deleting the printer in the Mac and reinstall it.. the change in AE can represent effectively a change of printer.. it is important to make sure that is all up to date.
Beyond that.. USB printers.. ughhh! Consider for two toners you can go and buy a proper network printer.

  • 3G phone's iPod function won't work on a Mini Cooper

Imagine my disappointment when the thing wouldn't play on my Cooper's system! What is weird is that my entire song list uploaded into the car. The iPhone is charging OK when plugged in. However, when a song is selected, the iPhone tells me that "This accessory is not made to work with iPhone."
So, is this a car matter or will a software update solve this?
I really hope Cupertino reads this stuff!

What is the year of your Mini? Mini changed their iPod interface recently (2007, I think), so I'm wondering if this is an issue with the new or old interface version.

  • I have an OLD PowerBook G3 and it won't work now.

I have aquired an old PowerBook G3 400 Mhz with FireWire and it has been sitting collection dust for quite a while. It will not turn on at all. I have the batter in the left bay and the right bay has nothing, not weight saver or anything in it, and it is plugged in over ac. I have tried 2 power adapters, an apple one and a 3rd party one. The computer does not do anything, no lights or noises. The lights on the battery don't light up either. Does anyone know what could be the problem?
    Thanks

    Start with this article:
50959- Troubleshooting portables that won't turn on or start up
If none of those helps, remove the main battery and try the list again. Operating without a battery may be helpful for bench testing, but your powerbook is intended to run with a battery in place. Without a battery, it may be more likely to sustain damage due to power fluctuations. If the main battery does not recharge itself, it may be dead and require replacement.
The PowerBook also has a recharging PRAM backup battery (unlike the iBook which has only the main battery). You may have to leave it plugged in overnight (without the main battery in place) or longer before it has any hope of recharging the PRAM backup battery. If the PRAM backup battery does not recharge, it may be dead. It is more convenient to have a working PRAM battery for daily use.

  • Old Photoshop 4 serial number won't work

I've made headway with trying to reinstall my Photoshop 4 CD on VISTA (P4 with P5 upgrade gave me 4 glorious years on this computer. I originally got P4 bundled with a scanner in the 90s). To review, for some reason several months back it stopped working and reinstallation wouldn't start.
Now suddenly using the copy of the CD I placed on my hard drive has gotten as far as the serial number. Except the serial number keeps getting rejected. I cleared all instances of Adobe and Photoshop and Photoshp from the registry when I tried to troubleshoot the first time and before I tried the CS6 trial (didn't care for it. The CS5 at work handles much nicer without the overkill). I don't THINK it's the number itself.
The fact that I got as far as entering a code is great. The fact that a correct code is not working - not so great.

Photoshop 4?! Wow. I think I still have a copy of that around, but that's an ancient version. Heck, I even still have 5.5 on a Macbook 5300 in my home office museum.
For me PS 5.5 was a sweet spot in functionality, before the CS name change. Personally I still use CS2, which is also getting long in the tooth ... but added some RAW and other improvements over CS(1).  If you could get a licensed copy of CS2, I think you'll find it comparable in interface and workflow to 4 or 5.5 with minimal re-learning. (And there are some great "get up to speed with new version" books on CS2 you could get cheap on the used book market.)
I wouldn't even want to use 4 due to improvements in memory use, speed, and some updates to librarys and plug-ins since that release.

  • New Mac Pro Won't Work With Old Studio Display

    Hi,
Just got a new Mac Pro Desktop 8-core only to find out my old Apple Studio Display 17" won't work without a $100 adapter. We're thinking of just buying a new monitor instead. My question is will other brands now work direclty with the new Macs - or would they also need adapters? Is a DVI port the same as a DVI-D port?
    Thanks for any info...

Thanks so much for the response, Malcolm, I really appreciate it! My old monitor is an LCD, but what we decided to do is since the adapter we found (and HAD to get from Apple directly) was going to cost $99!! We went and bought a brand new Dell monitor instead for $238 - it's fully compatible with the new Mac, and it's 23" (my old one was a 17") - so all's good!
    Thanks again,
    Jacki

  • My 3 week old iphone 5 has fallen on to a rug and the screen is cracked! I have an appointment at the apple store but i have to travel a bit to get to it. Will the replace the phone or send it away? I don't want to travel for nothing.

I have recently got a new iphone 5 and I dropped it on to the rug on top of wooden flooring and the screen is now cracked. I have made an appointment at my nearest apple store but i still have to travel quite a bit. Will apple replace this phone or send mine away? I don't want to travel for nothing.

If you are in the US ,some Apple genius bars are replacing screens at this time if  your local store isn't offering that service or you are not in the US  there will be an out of warranty exchange unit for $229
make sure you back up everything as if you exchange your iPhone will go and the Genius bar do not provide a backup service

  • If my iphone 3g screen has smashed and my phone is out of warranty. will apple be able to replace the phone for me or repair the screen?

if my iphone 3g screen has smashed and my phone is out of warranty. will apple be able to replace the phone for me or repair the screen?
i heard apple can upgrade my phone if a pay a specific amount? is this correct?
also if my phone is out of warranty how much would it cost for it to be replaced?

Apple does not repair smashed phones.  It will replace the phone with another iPhone 3G as an out of warranty exchange for 199.00 USD.
You should check with your carrier to see if you are eligible for a subsidized iPhone 4.   It may cost you the same as the out of warranty replacement for a phone almost 3 generations old.
