Replacement battery compatability

The battery from my 13" Macbook bought in 2008, died. It was  model No. A1185 55wh.
I am buying a replacement on ebay since my Apple warrenty has expired. there are some much cheaper than what is at the Apple store, with exact everything except is has 59Wh. Will is still work with my laptop? Thanks!

DOGG, I've gotten 5 batteries off of eBay. The oldest which is still working fine was 4 years ago. Apple doesn't manufacture it's own batteries. They buy them from China. 4 of the batteries I've gotten off of eBay were from the same manufacturers as the Apple batteries they replaced.
I totally understand that.
I know just about everything is produced in China. Most OEM parts are not produced by the manufacturer but the company that produces them are held to stricter testing policies when they are making them for a company that will be using them in a device. The point I was getting at is that those batteries are, most often, not tested in any way. So it is a crap shoot.
That's one of the reasons that users buy ram from Crucial, Corsair or Kingston. The other ram will problably work, but it is not tested so you have a much larger change of getting one that has a bad chip, is not performing up to spec, etc.

    Hi to All,
Like a lot of you I had problems with my battery. I noticed earlier this year my MBP would power-off when there was still lots of battery charge left. It gradually got worse and worse. A few months ago I noticed whenever I pulled the power cord out it would switch off and recently I can only use it when it's plugged in.
I read about the battery problems online, and on this forum. I discovered it was a very common problem. I had assumed there was nothing I could do other than buy a new battery, but after reading posts from some of you who have had success getting a replacement one I thought I'd call Apple. Nothing to lose other than cost of phone call. To be honest I wasn't expecting to get any joy as I bought my MBP in May 2006.
I spoke to a overly-friendly guy in Bangalore who kept saying "Don't worry, don't worry. I will sort this out for you". He took my details and serial number etc.. then kept putting me on hold as he spoke to his 'supervisor'. After 15 mins he explained that my battery's serial no. is one that qualified for the replacement programme - but that only applied up to 2 years after purchase. As mine is 30 months old, he had to do some arm twisting and they made an exception for me. He transferred me to a woman in Scotland who gave me a case number etc.. She then passed me onto a dispatch guy.
After 20 mins on the phone my free replacement battery is on it's way. Not sure if I've just been very lucky on this occasion, but I would recommend calling Apple Support wherever you are, before going ahead and forking out for a new battery.

Hmm... Newer Technologies' reseller list includes OWC/esales but they
are not the same; one is a reseller and the other is a manufacturer. A
few product names at OWC are not seen anywhere else unless you look
real hard, but Newer Tech and NuPower can be bought direct from Newer
Technologies online; and a reseller could contact them to carry their stuff.
In any event, if just the plastic is mal-formed, and the section not fitting up
is just a layer of white plastic, that'd be comparatively easy to change. If
nothing else, Apple should have a shorter waiting list on replacement cells
now the recall numbers have been going out to customers. I got mine after
about a two month wait; and after all that waiting, I've gotten over the need
    to use a portable computer. It just sits there and I have to hassle with it;
to keep it charged up and up to date. With winter here, I don't carry it while
travelling anywhere, it'd freeze too easily over the distances I have to go!
Did Newer Tech offer to refund monies and take back these odd batteries?
Have you contacted other battery sales sources for comparative products?
The quality and support plus warranty (and fit, finish, compatibility)
    are all important details.
Some cheap replacements could be dangerous and not suited for use in
the iBook or PowerBook they are intended to replace. I see some at
places like amazon afiliate stores, and wonder what they really are inside.

  • Black or White MacBook replacement battery

IMac G5 Purchased November 2004   Mac OS X (10.3.4)   Now a MacBook too
I need a replacement battery for my 13 inch MacBook. It appears there are none available in the world in white. Is a black one the same they seem available. I could care alout the color.
    Thanks, Steve

    Mike,
Good point it will kill Apple to see us Zebra's. I just am so glad you answered me. I was not going to order a black one with the warning at the Apple Store. "The black battery is not compatable with a white MacBook". I am so happy to be able to have a spare battery when I am in Afghanistan next month.I will only use it for a short period of time but, it would be a disaster if it ran out of power. I will not plug my MacBook in their maybe 170 to 240 volt maybe 50 hertz power. I tried a made for their power electric razor( Do not use the Water near your face). The razor went on hifire and melted down. I can imagine what that power could do to my MacBook.Thank you so much for your help.

  • Satellite L750/04K Replacement battery not recognised

    Hi all,
I have 2 Toshiba laptops, a C650D & L750/04k. Both laptops have exactly the same battery (PA3817U-1BRS. The L750 battery failed to hold charge so I changed the C650 battery into the L750 & worked fine.
Obtained a replacement battery (PA3634U-1BAS) & charged in the C650- worked great !
But will not work in the L750!
Won't charge & PC will not turn on (indicator light is flashing amber-low battery condition).
Seems the replacement battery is not recognized. Is this a compatibility problem?
If so, what is the correct battery for L750/04K?
    Any suggestions appreciated
    Regards, Mooky

    Hi
I found info on European page for L750 about compatible batteries and follow batteries are compatible with this notebook model:
    PA3757U-1BRS
    PA3787U-1BRS
    PA3817U-1BRS
    PA3818U-1BRS
    PA3820U-1BRS
I presume the same batteries can be used on your Australian model.

I ordered a battery for my laptop because it said to replace battery soon.  How long can I let the new battery sit around as I wait for the old one to run out of more charge?  Will the new one become less effective if it sits around too long?

How much capacity is remaining on your current battery?
    Check your power status
From the  menu: Hold OPTION and click System Information... èHardware è Power
Copy and Paste in your reply.
The new battery will become less effective if you store it in a hot or humid environment. It should be stored at room temperature (22 C).
    Long term storage (6 months):
Apple recommends that you store the battery with a 50% charge. If you store a battery when it’s fully discharged, it could fall into a deep discharge state, which renders it incapable of holding any charge. Conversely, if you store it fully charged for an extended period of time, the battery may experience some loss of battery capacity, meaning it will have a shorter life.

  • Where can I buy a genuine apple replacement battery (A1309) for my Mid 2010 17" Macbook Pro?

Where can I buy a genuine apple replacement battery (A1309) for my Mid 2010 17" Macbook Pro? There are used batteries on ebay that don't appear genuine. There are some third-party knock offs. The apple store seems to believe they can replace it, but I have to make a reservation at the silly Genius Bar just to have them tell me how much it's gonna cost, not to mention then likely wait for them to order the battery and install it. I'm perfectly capable of installing it myself. I just need to know where I can order it?
    Thanks,
    Andrew

Yeah, that's what I've finally decided. I was kidna super frustrated because the first apple store I called wouldn't even tell me a price or tell me if they could replace the battery without a Genius Bar appointment, and as I would have to take off work and drive acros town--and I don't have a car so I'd have to borrow one--that was pretty annoying. That call left me pricing linux laptops. I called another store to see if I'd have better luck, and the initial answer was the same, but the girl relented under some trying-to-be-nice-but-clearly-annoyed pressure, and she gave me the answers I needed: yes, they should have the battery in stock and it should be a same-day replacement that should cost $179.
It just *****, really, because there's so much about Apple that I used to love, and I'm watching it kinda melt away under their success in the mobile market. As a professional user, there's less and less reason to stick with them. Instead of being the best they can be, I feel like they're just trying to be flashier and just a little better than the other mediocre computer companies. Ugh. Anyway, now I'm ranting.

  • The replacement battery for Ipod nano true or false

I was tryin to figure out if it was true that you can't replace your battery in an Ipod nano unless you have good sodering skills or unless you send it in and replace it. Because I bought a third party replacement battery for my Ipod Nano, and it gave me the instructions to the normal Ipod. Then I saw a lot of discussion posts saying that you can replace the battery for an Ipod Nano, so I need to know if you can or can't.

    It is possible...
If you Google search for it, you can probably find instructions (with pictures) on how to do it. Basically, you need to use something (such as a tiny flathead screwdriver or a putty knife) to separate the plastic front case from the aluminum back case. Then, you can disconnect the battery that's inside of it and connect your new battery. Most third party iPod batteries recommend charging it completely before first use.
It is, however, easier to send your iPod in for service for a battery issue, and just have them replace your iPod for you.
    http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod/
To my knowledge, you don't need any exceptional soldering skills. I've replaced batteries in some older iPods, and needed nothing but a tiny flathead screwdriver that I use to do general maintenance on my saxophone.

replacement battery for dv6113us? part #432306-001*(6cell) or 446506-001(6cell) or 432307-001(12cell)
I am trying to order the correct battery replacement - and that information is not on the bottom of the computer or on the lithium ion battery. I have determined the original replacement part, but when I order that part number*, it doesn't give me a place to enter quantity and does list the alternative part number. I am also wondering if I can substitute a 12 cell battery (from the model to battery listings match list).

  • I got a replacement battery, reset the SMC, and my computer will still turn off unexpectedly.

    Early 2011 15" Macbook Pro, 2ghz iz, C0*****F8V.
My original battery wore down to the point where it would not be recognized as available and the computer couldn't power on without shutting down in a few minutes. I ordered a replacement battery, certified Apple genuine, but after 3 days it reached about half charge and the computer died, not turning back on without the adapter. When it did reboot the battery was at 0% and not charging, and the computer was incredibly slow and laggy.
I refunded and returned this battery and got a new one. I've had it installed about 2 days and the computer will still turn off if not plugged in at about 80-85%. I have reset my SMC multiple times and my PRAM as well. coconutBattery says nothing is wrong with the battery.
What can I do? I'm a freelance video editor and this is basically calling me out sick from work for a week now.
    Thanks!

Do these codes refer strictly to the battery, or to possibly other components that interact with it?
I can not give you a definitive answer to that.  The 'x's' which I have marked should be letters.  If so, could you provide them and that may give us a clue:
If that is actually what was generated by the AHT, then I am a bit surprised.
At any rate, the bottom line is that the MBP does not like your battery even though the output information that you provided does not indicate anything adverse.  An Apple battery should correct your problem, I would think, but there is an alternative that I came across yesterday that you might consider.  OWC. a Mac oriented vendor, is now selling replacement batteries for MBPs.

Based on the reputation of the company, I personally would be willing to try their non-Apple branded replacement.  I have dealt with them a fair amount, so my statement is from experience.  Note that is has a 1 year guarantee as do the Apple batteries.  ( I will need a replacement for my 2010 MBP and I will probably purchase it from them)
    Ciao.

  • Where do I buy a replacement battery for a MacBookPro6,2

After 1504 cycles, the "Replace Soon" warning has shown up on my mid-2010 MacBook Pro. I am 100% capable of replacing the battery myself, however I can't find anywhere on Apple's website to buy the replacement battery. All it says is to bring it in for them to replace which is not an option for me at this time.
Does anyone have a SPECIFIC recommendation on where to buy a GENUINE replacement battery for my model? And please don't say "ebay" or "amazon".
Here are the specs on my model: http://support.apple.com/kb/SP582

Apple insists on installing the batteries in unibody MBP's them selves and will NOT sell you the battery otherwise.  Your alternative is to make an appointment or ship the MBP to them.
Yes, it is easy to install the battery.  I have taken mine out a couple of times.
    Ciao.
I'm looking for a non-Apple, non-ebay, non-amazon source for the battery. My Macbook Pro is in use 12+ hours per day for school and work so sending it in for a replacement is also not an option. So strange how it's impossible to find this battery for sale from an online retailer. Macmall, OWC, MacConnection, PowerMax, SmallDog... nobody sells them. :-(

  • Where can I buy a 5g replacement battery?

My battery only lasts about 8 hours on the suggested settings from Apple. I sent it in and they sent it back with nothing in the box, just the ipod. Incidentally they wiped all my videos and music and put on a whole new set of stuff. I called technical support and they said it was sent back because the battery is a software issue and they will no longer discuss any battery issues with me until I purchase Applecare. I called back and spoke to someone else and they again said 'I will not discuss this' and hung up. I don't really want to have to bow to purchasing Applecare from them, so where can I buy a replacement battery for my iPod please?

I did send it in and it was sent back and I was told it wasn't repaired because batteries are not covered by the warranty, only applecare. Now whenever I called up and give the serial number, they end the call citing the same reason.
