Replacement Battery Needed

I just preordered the iPhone 5 this morning, and am thinking about handing my iPhone 4 down to my husband (poor guy...he has the 3GS) but it's two years old and needs a new battery.  I think I read that I can get a replacement for around $80 through an Apple store.  Does that include install, or am I looking at an extra cost on top of the new battery?  Would I need an appointment at the genius bar?  Can I send it away to Apple and have it replaced and sent back?
Thanks for your time.

That cost includes installation.

  • I don't have phone, but the TV says I need to replace battery backup for phone?!?!?!

    Hello,
For three years, we've had Verizon Fios Internet and TV.  We've never had a phone.
Today, the contraption Verizon plugged in the wall (sadly, I'm not really sure what it is, and had forgotten it existed until today as it's tucked behind some furniture) started beeping and the replace battery indicator light is on.  Furthermore, when I turn on TV, I am greeted with this message:
    My questions are:
    (1) If I don't have phone service, why would I even have a battery backup (much less need to replace it) to allow phone service during power outages?
    (2) Since I have only internet and TV, can I safely go without replacing this battery?
    (3) If the answer to #2 is yes, then how do I get the thing in the wall to stop beeping every 30 minutes?
Thank you in advance to any responses.

You can unplug the battery in your optical network terminal (ONT) and the message needing to replace the battery will go away.  Verizon customer service did confirm the battery is only for phone service when power is off.
I was only able to find 3 links on the alarm / battery backup.  It looks like they never thought about people who did not want the phone feature and to silence the beeping with the battery removed?
I don't know how frequently my unit beeps, but I don't normally hear it because it is in my garage.  I don't know if it has a pattern to when it beeps; but when I'm in the garage, I sometimes hear a single loud beep for about 1 second.
I imagine the battery must enable the laser to function when the power is off besides supply power to the copper phone lines in your house for a line powered phone.  I would assume then that if one had a UPS to power the computer and router and a good battery in the BBU; then one could have an internet when the power is off too?  Verizon user manuals don't mention this, so it might not work?

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $199 for 64 GB 4G and $99 for the other 4Gs. They do not fix yours.

The model 6,1 Late 2009 and the model 7,1 Mid 2010 use an A1331 battery. You can replace it yourself or have Apple do it for you for $129. If you need it quickly make sure you order it from a U. S. seller. Orders from China can take two or three weeks.

Here's installation instructions. You'll need a Tri Wing Y1 screwdriver in addition to the usual #00 Phillips screwdriver.

  • I bought my iphone 5s in USA  and now i have come back to my country, India. My iPhone 5s battery needs replacement what should I do?

    Hello!
My iPhone 5s battery needs replacement and I am not sure where to buy it from. I bought the phone when I was in USA but mow I am in my home country India and I am confused how to find an Apple Store in India so that I can get my phone repaired or battery replaced by them.
    Waiting for suggestions.

The Warranty on phones is not international.  You will need to send the phone to someone in the US to start the replacement process (or repair), and when they receive the replacement (repaired device), they will need to send it back to you.

Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. If your iPod is defective and has not been abused Apple will exchange it at no cost.

I need to order a replacement battery for Model A1185. Where can I get one?

You can get a new third party battery fairly cheap on eBay. Every MacBook from 2006 through Mid 2009 except the Late 2008 Aluminum Unibody and the Late 2009 and 2010 White Unibodies use the same A1185 battery.

I've bought used MacBooks off of eBay for my family, nine of them so far over the last 6 years. I've bought 8 batteries off of eBay sellers, just going with the cheapest. Only had one with a problem, it gave out after 6 cycles. That one was replaced under the warranty by the seller. The only other batteries that have been a problem were Apple branded batteries that started bulging. I've had two of those happen.

  • RAID ALERT: (0x0008/3) - Battery needs replacement - SOH Bad

I've installed a new C350 recently. After a few days, I receive a warning message from IronPort (RAID ALERT: (0x0008/3) - Battery needs replacement - SOH Bad). What does it mean? Is it a hardware failure?

This indicates that the RAID battery is fully discharged and cannot be charged. Essentially, a bad RAID battery. I would recommend getting in touch with Ironport support to get the appropriate RMA initiated.

  • MacBook Pro 10,1 battery needs replaced

I have a Macbook Pro 10,1 15inch with Retina Display that is just over 12 months old.  It's been working great and now it's not holding a charge.  It says that it's at 77%, but when I click on the %, it states that the battery condition is "Replace Battery Now"  My cycle count for the battery is 178 which is well below the 1000 per the support page.  I haven't been able to get in touch with Apple Care, but it doesn't seem like the battery is accessible.
I haven't had any problems, the battery hasn't run dead; recharge when I'm hoovering around 10%.  The most recent update was the Mavericks 10.9.3 but I'm thinking that is coincidence.  Any thoughts?  I've never had any problems where I've had to deal with Apple Care, any thoughts??

    toby8myshoe,
    you can call AppleCare directly.
Retina MacBook Pros have glued-in batteries; you’ll need to go to an Apple store or Apple-authorized service center, or send your MacBook Pro to Apple, to have your battery replaced. Your battery’s life will be maximized by starting to recharge it when it gets down to 20%; running it on battery below 20% will shorten the battery’s life.

  • Need a replacement battery

    Hello,
I have a macbook unibody aluminum from late 2008. My battery is in a poor state, lasts about an hour and a half tops and is in a "replace soon" condition. I was wondering where I could purchase a replacement battery and how much that would cost me. I seem to have trouble to find these spare parts.
I would be thankful to anyone who is willing to guide me. I am not sure yet if I am willing to replace the battery, it will strongly depend on the prices.
    Thank you,
    Esujko

    MacBook (13-inch, Aluminum, Late 2008)
    Removing the battery:
Shut down the computer. Disconnect any cords connected to the computer.
    Turn the computer over.
    Locate the access door latch.
Push down to release the latch, this sets it in the open position, and remove the access door that covers the battery.
With the latch still in its open position, gently pull up on the battery tab to remove the battery.
Note: The latch must be in its released, open position to remove or replace the battery and access door.
    Installing the battery:
To replace the battery, make sure the latch is in its open position.
Hold the battery at an angle and slide the lipped edge of the battery below the brackets on the outside edge of the battery bay. Gently press the battery down.
      To replace the access door:
Line the access door up with the bottom case and the tabs in the battery bay.
Lower the access door into place.
Make sure it is level with the bottom case of your MacBook.
Press the latch into place, so it is in the closed position.

  • Need instructions for replacing battery

    Hey, all.
The "Replace Battery" light is lit on my ONT, and it is (of course) doing that annoying beeping noise.
Since the only way to permanently stop the beeping is to disconnect the battery, I'd like to do that.  Unfortunately, none of the instructions I've seen online, or gotten from Verizon customer service, have applied to my specific ONT model.
I have a Motorola ONT1000GJ2  (Yes, GJ, not GT, I've checked repeatedly).  I *think* the battery is in the upper section of the housing, but I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to get to it.
If anyone has achieved this blessed state of affairs of actually getting to this battery, could you be so kind as to fill me in on how?
    Thanks in advance!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I am providing my own answer to this question, as the community didn't come up with an answer, and Verizon customer "service" (and I use the term extremely loosely in this regard) was the exact opposite of helpful.
Looking at the picture above, on the far right-hand side, there are two recessed hex-screws, one above the other.  To access the battery compartment on this particular model, leave the lower screw tightened, and loosen the upper screw.  Don't worry about it falling out: I'm pretty sure it's a "captive" screw, and so cannot be fully removed.
Once you have the screw loosened, pull outward on the upper right corner of the box.  You may have to lift up at the same time, if it hangs up on you.  (In order to lift up on it, put a finger or thumb in the screw's recess, and push upward).  Continue to jiggle and pull, and eventually the stupid thing will come open.  Once you've got it open, removing the battery and then the battery clips is the same as in the videos they've provided:  Pull back the tabs to slip the battery out, and then wiggle the connectors off the battery posts.
WARNING:  The battery is several pounds in weight, and the wires are not all that long.  If you have to stretch to get to your unit like I do (mine is mounted above my washer/dryer), you will benefit from a helper, so they can hold the battery while you remove the battery connectors.  I know I struggled a bit trying to do it alone.
Thanks to those who attempted to help me.  I hope this is able to help someone else in the future.
Oh, and one more piece of info:  Verizon "customer service" will repeatedly tell you the only official way to make the unit stop beeping is to replace the defective battery with a new one.  They have to utter the word "official", because otherwise, you can accuse them (accurately) of lying.  The unit will stop beeping as soon as you disconnect the old battery.  They, of course, want you to spend $30+ buying a new battery from them, so they will not tell you this.  If, like me, you have no desire to replace the battery, rest assured, the unit will stop annoying you once you've got the old battery out of it.  The "Replace Battery" light will remain on, but the audible warnings will end.

  • Where can I buy a genuine apple replacement battery (A1309) for my Mid 2010 17" Macbook Pro?

Where can I buy a genuine apple replacement battery (A1309) for my Mid 2010 17" Macbook Pro? There are used batteries on ebay that don't appear genuine. There are some third-party knock offs. The apple store seems to believe they can replace it, but I have to make a reservation at the silly Genius Bar just to have them tell me how much it's gonna cost, not to mention then likely wait for them to order the battery and install it. I'm perfectly capable of installing it myself. I just need to know where I can order it?
    Thanks,
    Andrew

Yeah, that's what I've finally decided. I was kidna super frustrated because the first apple store I called wouldn't even tell me a price or tell me if they could replace the battery without a Genius Bar appointment, and as I would have to take off work and drive acros town--and I don't have a car so I'd have to borrow one--that was pretty annoying. That call left me pricing linux laptops. I called another store to see if I'd have better luck, and the initial answer was the same, but the girl relented under some trying-to-be-nice-but-clearly-annoyed pressure, and she gave me the answers I needed: yes, they should have the battery in stock and it should be a same-day replacement that should cost $179.
It just *****, really, because there's so much about Apple that I used to love, and I'm watching it kinda melt away under their success in the mobile market. As a professional user, there's less and less reason to stick with them. Instead of being the best they can be, I feel like they're just trying to be flashier and just a little better than the other mediocre computer companies. Ugh. Anyway, now I'm ranting.

  • The replacement battery for Ipod nano true or false

I was tryin to figure out if it was true that you can't replace your battery in an Ipod nano unless you have good sodering skills or unless you send it in and replace it. Because I bought a third party replacement battery for my Ipod Nano, and it gave me the instructions to the normal Ipod. Then I saw a lot of discussion posts saying that you can replace the battery for an Ipod Nano, so I need to know if you can or can't.

    It is possible...
If you Google search for it, you can probably find instructions (with pictures) on how to do it. Basically, you need to use something (such as a tiny flathead screwdriver or a putty knife) to separate the plastic front case from the aluminum back case. Then, you can disconnect the battery that's inside of it and connect your new battery. Most third party iPod batteries recommend charging it completely before first use.
It is, however, easier to send your iPod in for service for a battery issue, and just have them replace your iPod for you.
    http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod/
To my knowledge, you don't need any exceptional soldering skills. I've replaced batteries in some older iPods, and needed nothing but a tiny flathead screwdriver that I use to do general maintenance on my saxophone.
