Replacement battery won't turn on ibook

Have a used 14" ibook g4 that was only operable when power supply connected. replaced battery today and now won't turn on at all. bought new replacement from reliable third party vendor. has 4 indicator l.e.d.'s but not operating machine at all. Here's the interesting part. Swiped battery from my brothers 12" ibook g4 and held in place on contacts (obviously wouldn't stay in on its own due to smaller size) and machine turned on and booted up properly. Thoughts?

You may have received a bad battery. Contact the vendor (might I ask who they are?) and see if you can get another replacement.

  • New battery & won't turn on?

So I haven't used my phone for a while because my battery died and the Verizon website wouldn't let me purchase one, so I bought one off amazon. I received my new battery today, and my phone was working great! until my battery died. It's been on the charger now since 4pm, it's now almost 11:30pm.
My phone charges for all of two minutes and then 'discharges' the battery??? after the first time it discharged the battery it wouldn't turn on... and it still won't turn on.
Is there any way to fix this?

I bought the Droid Razor back in March 2012. Within 1 week the phone went dead and would NOT receive a charge from any source, not an ac charger for home, dc charger for car, usb from computer, NOTHING worked! I took it back to the store where I bought it from and they replaced it with a brand new phone. I then purchased the add on battery pack, just to be on the safe side. Now it's happening again! And the external battery pack is useless. I've been plugging it into different devices and letting it charge for hours and even over night since Monday. It still doesn't even recognize that it's plugged in.
I called Verizon today and first of all, the customer service rep was condescending and rude.Second, they are supposedly sending me ANOTHER replacement. But since it's Friday, I have to wait until Monday to receive it....UNLESS... I want to pay $19.95 for a Saturday delivery. I'm paying for a phone I can't use and I'm expected to pay the expedited shipping??? Will I be refunded for the amount of time the phone served as a paper weight?
This phone is very nice with all the features and it's apps and so forth, when it's WORKING!!! But if you can't turn it on, no amount of features and apps make it worth the high price of it. Very disappointed!

  • Replaced battery; won't charge beyond 27%. Some settings lost on restart

I recently took advantage of Apple's replacement program for overheating PB batteries, although I hadn't experienced any actual problems. After I installed the replacement my battery won't charge past 27%, plus the date and time reset to 1969 and my AirPort network settings are lost whenever I restart or shut down.
The power indicator in the menu bar constantly shows ""Calculating."
I've already tried resetting the PMU and allowing the battery to discharge fully.
    Any ideas?

And now for the good news…
The Genius Bar at the KC AppleStore was the source of the solution. They diagnosed a bad battery (the one I'd received in the PB battery replacement program) and changed it out. All's well now, including the "disappearing" settings.

  • Replacement battery won't fit into my 3g touch wheel ipod

I just changed the battery on my 3g ipod, but the 850 aMh battery that is labelled "Replacement battery for 3G ipod" is bigger than the original 700 aMh battery. I can force it in, but I don't want to break anything. Has anyone else had experienced this?

I may have exaggerated that the difference in size between the 2 batteries is 1 cm. In order to make the new battery fit, I had to squeeze it past the lip of the surrounding panel rather than easily tuck it in as was the case with the original battery.
It may be the wrong battery, but how come multiple sites, including this apple authorized site I bought my battery from, are advertising the same exact battery as compatible with the 3g ipod? The battery says 3g right on it. If you have replaced an ipod battery, you must have come across different capacity batteries for the 3g. I appreciate the response, but Chris, are you saying its the wrong battery because you've replaced a 3g battery yourself and came across a multitude of sellers making this fraudulent claim, or are you assuming that the difference in size automatically means that it isn't the right battery.

  • My ipod touch won't charge.  I let it run all the way down, and now it shows a red empty battery, won't turn off or orn.

My ipod touch won't recharge after I let it run all the way down.  It shows an empty battery with a tiny bit of red, and a spiky unblinking circle on the batery.  I can't turn it off or slide the slider.  I tried to charge it for 8 hours and nothing.

  • Replaced ipod won't turn on

I have a question. I got a replacement ipod late feb of 06 cause my old one died. Now a month and half later my new ipod is having a problem. I took my ipod to work saturday and it worked fine. Then when I got off from work I looked in my bag I saw the screen was black. I tried the hold switched off and on. That didn't work I tried pressing the select button and the menu buttons togther that doesn't work and I have had it charged up on my adapotor since saturday. I even plugged it in my computer and it just dosn't come on. now apple logo. I can't even restore it. So you think I need to have someone look at it

A similar thing happened to me. I got my iPod, then exactly a year later I needed a replacement. About 5 or 6 months after that, the replacement started acting weird. The screen would freeze, and the battery wouldn't last long. I took it into the store this afternoon and they gave me another replacement. I don't know why because the 90 day warranty was up, but it seems a bit ridiculous to need a replacement 6 months after getting a new iPod.
My advice to you is to take your iPod in ASAP. I don’t know exactly what their policy is, but you don’t want to be stuck with an expired warranty and a broken iPod.

  • Replacement battery won't charge

i just bought a used battery on amazon.com when i swapped it in the computer will not run unless the ac charger is plugged in. the battery reads at 79% capacity (battery is like 4 years old already) and reads completely discharged. its been plugged in for 2 days and only reads 11mAh at best. i have tried reseting the PMU and the PRAM but it doesnt seem to be taking. at present the top corner of the computer says the battery will reach a full charge in 585:10. did i buy a junk battery or am i overlooking a setting that i need to change? i swapped in my old battery and it runs fine, but it only has 16% original capactiy. any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

battery got fried in the mail. sending it back and buying a new one that is being shipped from closer so there is less time in the mail

  • My MacBook Pro 13" won't turn on 90% of the time I try to get it running, and when it does turn on, even on a charger, it shuts down if I stop using it for 2  seconds and it won't turn back on. Should I replace the battery?

My MacBook Pro 13" won't turn on 90% of the time I try to get it running, and when it does turn on, even on a charger, it shuts down if I stop using it for 2+ seconds and it won't turn back on. Should I replace the battery?  It doesn't hold a charge either...

    EmadJamal,
the battery won’t melt because of long connection to the AC charger, although that has the potential of reducing the battery’s life.
Do you have access to a second 60 W AC charger to test with your MacBook Pro, or access to a second 13-inch MacBook Pro against which your AC charger could be tested?

If wjosten's tip doesn't work try plugging it into a USB charger (not through your computer), wait about 30 seconds and it should come on. If it doesn't remove the cord from the phone and keep trying this. I've had this same issue and found a combination of the reset & charging cable tends to work. Sometimes it takes about 5 minutes for the phone to respond.
    Best of luck.

  • My 5 year old Mac book won't turn on. It seems to be holding a charge. In the past 3 months I've replaced the power source, battery, & had a full diagnostic run on it.

Tanks dominic23, do you think that the dead battery can affect the macbook performance? I do alot of video work, and since the battery died i cannot do a smooth preview of my videos in premiere cs6, seems like a memory problem but it worked fine before the battery issue.

Keep iPhone on wall charger for ten minutes, it may turn ON itself. If still nothing, keep on charger and Reset, hold both home and power buttons for about 20 seconds until the iPhone begins to respond.

  • My iBook G4 won't turn on. Help?

I was watching a dvd on my computer last night. In the middle of it, my iBook randomly turned off. It won't turn on again. I've gone to the support sections and their solutions don't work. There isn't anything I can do at the moment to turn it on. And I have a rented dvd stuck in it! HELP!
    iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4)

I know the frustration. A similar crash occurred to me yesterday. I could hear a slight click after pressing the start button, but no whirring or start up. The front left base was warmer than I recalled from past operations, so I thought something was abnormal. I disconnected the power source to let it cool off overnight. (the power light indicated a charge was taking place). This morning I reconnected the power source, and voila, it started as it would under normal conditions. I have no idea of what happened. I checked the battery recall info, but this iBook does not qualify for replacement. In addition, the hot spot was on the opposite side of the base, and the battery itself did not show heat this morning.
    Good luck!

My 5S just started doing this on Thursday: every fraction of a second or so it oscillates between connecting and disconnecting with the charger (USB or wall, doesn't matter). Since it's still under the limited warrantee, I took it to the local Mac dealer (I live in a small town w/out an Apple store) and they shipped it off. I'm waiting now for the replacement--telephonless, too!
What concerns me is that many people seem to be having this issue.
You were right to be suspicious of the Apple store employees. Once they replicated the behavior that you experienced, they should have immediatly offered to exchange your phone. Anything else, in my opinion, is unacceptable. As long as your phone is still doing it, I'd go back, ask for the manager and tell them to exchange your phone.

To be totally honest, about 3 weeks prior I spilled some milk from cereal on the desk and a little bit got onto the battery.
    I don't think you have a case.
You can replace the logic board yourself if you are a DIY'er and save some money.

  • I just got my battery and iphone 4 screen fixed and when it turned off because there weren't any battery left, I tried charging it. Now it won't turn on or charge... what do i do?

I just got my battery and iphone 4 screen fixed and when it turned off because there weren't any battery left, I tried charging it. After charging it for like thirty minutes, I pressed the home & lock button and it turned on for a moment for me to see that it was only at 1%... So basically it wasn't charging for that entire half hour. Then, I tried connecting it to my computer and nothing is popping up... so it won't turn on or charge... what do i do?

Who repaired the phone? I suggest taking it back to this repair facility. Since Apple replaces phones instead of repair, the repair facility would be the one to take care of your problem.
