Replacement glass

replacement glass

best thing to do is either call AppleCare or book a genius bar appointment at one of your local Apple Stores
Physical damage isn't covered under the one year limited warranty or AppleCare protection plan, but I believe you do receive a subsidized replacement

I need a replace glass panel for my 2008 20" iMac. Any ideas where i can obtain one?
    Any suggestions would be welcome.

    As an aside note
    Bendz2012,
Have you noticed that your iMac's screen is less glossy than normal?
Do you prefer this over having an additional panel of glass making your display overly and unnecessarily glossy?
It may not look as pretty, but I'll bet your screen looks better and sharper and you may be getting a benefit of added heat dissipation. Also, not to mention, less eye strain and/or headaches
You will just have to be a little more careful with the iMac's real TFT screen if you choose this option.
A little more careful cleaning it and making sure no liquids get inside.
It's up to you what you want to do.
You can order the panel, anyway, but choose not to replace it until you sell it or have to bring in for repairs.
    Good Luck!

  • Replacement glass for iPad or i touch?

I wondered if it is possible to get replacement glass for the ipad or i touch? Does Apple provide this service? Or does one have to go elsewhere?

If you want to buy the parts and replace them yourself you will need to take a look at a website like ifixit.com. They have instructions and parts.  You can't buy parts from Apple, but you can take your items to Apple for repair.

I am providing you with a link to the HP Parts Store where you can order a new display for your computer. 696330-002 LCD Panel - TPK LG NZBD, Dominica
696330-003 LCD Panel - TPK SAM NZBD, Dominica

  • Cost of replacing glass screen of MacBook Pro?

Yesterday I went to my desk and found a crack curving across the screen of my 15" MacBook Pro. I genuinely have no idea how it happened as it had been sitting alone for several hours. There's no damage to the casing or to the LCD beneath the glass. At first I thought it was a scratch because of how thin and at the surface it is, but then with the way it travels across the screen I realized it was a crack. My husband did a few internet searches and we found a post that said if the laptop gets too hot, it may crack the screen (and my laptop had not been shut down in a while). Has anyone else heard of this happening?
My applecare expired for the device a few months back and because of the age of my laptop (purchased in 2009) I was told I was not allowed to renew it.
So, with me covering the price of replacing the glass, I was wondering if anyone knew approximately how much this would cost (or if Apple would replace just the glass at all because I've read several topics where people said they would only replace the entire upper half of the laptop, including casing and LCD).
If anyone else has had to replace just the glass part, I'd be very much interested in hearing about your experience of getting this repaired.
    Thanks in advance.

This is an international community.  Prices vary from country, state, city, etc.  You should call the repair shop of your choice and ask for an estimate.  Make sure the estimate includes taxes, labor costs, etc. Remember, no one can give you an exact figure until the repair techs physically examine & run diagnostics on your computer to confirm what is wrong w/it.

  • How much to replace glass on iPad2 32Gb (WiFi-only -- no 3G)?

My son dropped my ipad2 32Gb. It was purchased in November and was given as a Christmas present. Still under warranty. How much to replace the glass?

$299 if is is not a +3G model, $369 if it is.
They won't replace the glass, they will replace the entire unit with a service replacement iPad so make sure you have a backup.

  • Replacement Glass - Gen 2 vs Gen 3

    Hi there,
I wonder if anyone can help me.
I've unfortunately smashed the glass screen on my Gen 3 iPod Touch. I'm aware that this isn't covered by the warranty etc and am willing to replace it myself.
I can find replacement screens for the iPod Touch Gen 2 quite easliy online. The Gen 3 screens are harder to find.
My question is: Will an iPod Touch Gen 2 glass screen fit an iPod Touch Gen 3?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    S
P.S Sorry if this is the wrong forum, I could find a better place.

I got this response from Robert at theipoddrop.com:
"The glass on the 3gen touch is the same as the glass on the 2gen touch in size only. Where they differ is in the connection ribbon cables. They changed them ever so slightly that unless you know what your looking for when they are placed side by side, you would swear they were the same. They are NOT compatable with one another."
So, it looks like I have my answer. If anyone knows otherwise please speak up.
    Thanks for your replies.

  • Cracked glass screen for B540 replacement

Recently, after the warranty has expired on my Ideacentre B540 touchscreen, the screen had encountered a solid object tap an edge and cracking the screen.  I ordered the replacment glass from a vendor which had advertised the touchscreen plate would be an easy removal and install.  I have disassembled the all-in-one and realized the tuoch plate is glued onto the glass as well as the indicator lights.  Does anyone have a sugggestion to transfer the touchplate to the new glass without destroying it?  Or am at the point in time to try to order a face plate with touch digitizer already installed?

mines the same cracked screen but i tried to replace a mobile phone screen its the same (i broke the phone lol) if you must have the touch screen then it will be a whole replacement

  • 5s cracked glass replacement option

Just got new 5s 32gb verizon. Cracked glass 2 days after using. No insureance or apple protection purchased other than what new phone comes with. What are my options to replace phone or fix glass? Is there trade in replacement deal with apple since its new phone? Can apple replace glass? Does verizon offer tradein deal replacements or do repairs?

You can get an out of warranty replacement phone from Apple. I believe it's $269 for the 5S. Many Apple Stores in the U.S. can replace the diplay on a 5 for $149. I don't know if that extends to the 5S yet. You'll have to ask at the genius bar.

  • Where can I purchase a replacement home button for a 7th gen nano?

My home button fell out when I dropped the 7th gen Nano and shattered the glass while mountain biking.  I have replacement glass and digitizer in hand but no home button.  I have not been able to get anywhere with my local Apple store in regards to purchasing a new button.
    Any help?

Tried to repair a toaster lately?
On a device at this price range it makes no sense to have parts available and have a technician spend an hour replacing the button. They provide you with a service replacement instead, send back your old one and have it totally refurbished. Makes far more economic sense.

  • 24" iMac glass, is it all the same?

I have been looking into ordering a replacement glass panel for my 24" early 2009 iMac. I have noticed that most of the vendors selling the glass list it as being compatible with Mid 2007 & Early 2008. Glass listed as being specifically for the Early 2009 seems to be much less plentiful and somewhat more expensive. Just based on what I see in the pictures, all the glass seems to be the same, as far as pin location is concerned. So, would I be okay ordering any 24" glass?

    Hi juggalette8!
Actually, probably the best thing to do in this kind of situation would be to just download the latest version of iTunes (7.1.1), and not stay at a previous version (like 4.7), which requires a standalone iPod Updater to be installed, as well.
With iTunes 7, you don't need a separate iPod Updater anymore - the restoring and iPod-firmware-updating features are now integrated right into iTunes, with no need for anything else.
To download the latest version of iTunes, go here:
    Download iTunes - 7.1.1.5

  • Changing colour of iPhone glass

I have cracked both the front and the back of my iPhone badly and I'm looking at buying replacement glass for it. I currently have black glass on my iphone and would like to replace it with white.
As a result of dropping my phone then cracking the screens, I think I may have damaged the arial, I don't get or have less signal then what I used to, also my phone struggles to pick up wifi even if I am close to the router.
I spoke to my network and they said to get anything internal repair I must get the screens fixed but that is not covered in my warrenty. So I have found replacement glass in white and I am wondering if I change the colour of my iPhone, will I still be able to get my arial fixed in an apple store or by my network?
My other option is to claim on my insurance and get a replacement phone that way, however I am unsure if they will due to the cracked screens.
Am I better of replacing the screens with new black glass or am I able to change the colour?
    Thanks

    You warranty is void.
Like any warranty on any product, damage is not covered at all.
If you take it apart or repair it yourself the warranty is void.

  • TX digitizer replacement - did it myself and life is good (so far!)

Many TX users are aware of an issue involving TX digitizers, namely, that some of them are susceptible to gradual failure.  In my case, both of my TX's developed the same gradual failure in the lower left Graffiti input area of the screen.  That area of the digitizer would lose sensitivity to the point where stylus strokes became unrecognizable unless I really applied uncomfortable pressure.  It would become gradually worse over the course of several weeks to several months, to the point where Graffiti input became absolutely maddening.
Not only did both TX's develop the same problem, but I have had both of them repaired/replaced under warranty, and then the replacement digitizers developed the same problem.  I was all for having Palm continue to replace them for "free" under warranty, but that involves about $12 each time to ship and insure the package to Palm's Texas facility...and neither of them is even a year old yet so...
For about $60 each, I purchased two new replacement glass digitizers from www.pdaparts.com.  They, and several other online sites, had been out of them for some time (first, there was apparenly a bad batch, then word was that there was a shortage of some material that goes into their manufacture).
I replaced them myself this evening, using a combination of the video instructions from www.pdaparts.com and a very helpful thread from Brighthand Forums.  Not only do they work, but I have regained that old feeling of control that I had with my old lllxe...a nice firm and responsive surface rather than the slightly "spongy" feel of the newer plastic digitizers that went into the TX's OEM digitizers.
Note: Replacing the digitizer yourself will void your warranty.  But replacing a faulty digitizer with a better one than Palm uses, can help you regain your sanity.  Your choice.
Personally, I would probably do the same thing again, i.e. let Palm replace it once or twice before taking the plunge.  I know there are users who swear that their TX's original digitizers have never given them a second's worth of trouble.   I just ain't one of those lucky users.  And I use my TX pretty heavily throughout a typical day, so I can't have the digitizer failing like this.
The first one took me about 45 minutes (including time to get my hands to stop shaking).  But after I had done one, the second one took no more than 15 minutes, from start to finish.
Any questions about the process, feel free to ask.

I installed this same digitizer in my T|X some weeks ago.  Some discussion of my experience may be found in this Usenet posting and subsequent thread.
The stock digitizer in my T|X had always had some significant alignment issues (for which PowerDigi was able to compensate very nicely) and sensitivity which was uneven, but which usually required a heavier touch than I liked.
Eventually, it began to develop a “dead spot” near the upper left.  My T|X was under warranty, so I probably ought to have sent it in to Palm to be repaired, but I wasn't willing to be without it for the required amount of time, and I've heard enough reports of other T|X owners getting unsatisfactory results this way.  I'd heard enough good reports about the PDAPARTS.COm digitizer, that I decided that the only acceptable way to repair my T|X would be to install one of those.
After however many weeks it has been, I am still very pleased with the results.  It continues to work flawlessly; it is much more sensitive, so it doesn't require nearly so heavy a touch, and I very much like the hard feel that it has, compared to the spongier feel of the stock digitizer.
My wife's T|X still has its stock digitizer, and it has so far not shown any of the same problems that mine did, or for which the T|X has become notorious, but the feel is noticeably inferior.  She's content with it the way it is, but I think that if I were to ever buy another T|X for myself, I wouldn't wait for the stock digitizer to fail.  The PDAPARTS.COM digitizer is simply superior in every imaginable way; and, in my opinion, a T|X with the PDAPARTS.COM digitizer installed is sufficiently superior to one with the stock digitizer (even if it isn't defective) to be very much worth the expense and trouble of installing it.

  • Broken glass hp officejet pro 8600 plus

My printer/scanner glass broke.  Can it be repaired?  If so, where can I order a replacement glass and where can I take it to have it repaired.
    Thanks.

Hello there! Welcome to the forums @naniesmomi,
I read about how your scanner glass is broken. The glass is a non-replaceable part therefore, I would suggest calling HP directly to see what your replacement or trade in options are for another printer.
