Replacement HomeHub2s failing to connect and BT he...
I was given a replacement for my 9 month old Homehub2 which was , according to the BT engineer, faulty giving me periods of instability. This is now working ok and faster than ever BUT the replacement failed. BT have just sent sent another replacement but I get the same failure with that. I spent about 1.5 hours on phone to Broadband help in the subcontinent on the failure of the first replacement but he could not find the cause and said I must have faulty Homehub2 hence the second replacement.
When I go thtough the "initial setup" they fail after the point of putting in the wireless key. Both act the same . The actual key settings of the hubs have been checked. All the options that I see offered on BT help have been tried.
Is it possible that the wireless adapter ( BT voyager 1055) is incompatible with later model of Homehub2 ?

If its any consolation to you, I went through four HH2s a couple of years ago before I got one that worked reasonably well. Even that had its moments. I eventually solved my issues by buying a 2Wire 2700HGV (the hub that is used for BT Business Broadband) from a certain online source.
The BT Voyager 1055 wireless adapter is not best known for its reliability and stability so I suggest that you obtain a completely different replacement that is stated to be compatible with the version of the OS you are using and see if that improve matters. Netgear and Belkin, amongst others do adapters which can be had for about £15.00.

PLEASE HELP!Nyxaelia, you can create a new Location in the Network System Prefs where you could have one setup for school and one setup for home. When you have more than one Location in Network, you will get a Locations menu in the Apple Menu where you can switch easily between the two.
On the Location popup menu, select Edit Locations. Select Automatic, then select Duplicate Location from the gear menu button. Rename each one for the specific location, and set each one up as required. -
How do I replace a failed hard drive and restore with time machine
My hard drive died on my 2009 MacBook Pro. I regularly backed up my data using Time Machine. How do I format the drive and restore fom my USB TimeMachine drive.
If you haven't made a Lion or Mt Lion install USB thumb drive or used the Recovery Disk assistant to make a USB thumb of the Recovery HD then you will need to boot the system from the original OS Install disk that came with the system or a Snow Leopard disk you bought to upgrade to Snow Leopard. Then use the option to restore from TM backup.
Or if you have made New backup since install Lion or Mt Lion then that Tm backup may have a copy of the Recovery HD on it. Only way to tell is connect your TM backup drive and when starting the system hold down the Option key and see if you get a link that says Recovery HD. -

Lumia 620 fails to connect to car bluetooth - coll...
My lumia 620 did initially connect to my ford focus car audi/phone successfully. However after about a week it failed to connect and I haven't been able to connect since. Defeats the object of hands-free!
Steps taken (which work with previous phones of various makes/models):
Turn bluetooth on in car
Turn on phone bluetooth connectivity
Car display finds my phone successfully and provides a PIN to enter in the phone
Phone bluetooth status says 'unable to connect to ford audio system' and times-out.
I've noticed that the 'tap to pair' message doesn't appear as it previously did and I can't find anywhere else to look for bluetooth settings.
A colleague who has an identical phone can successfully connect - it does show the 'tap to pair' message.
I have updated the ford audio system software and checked the other phone connects ok. I have also tried removing the phone battery several times but still no joy.

I've had my ipad for a year now, periodically I have troubles syncing my device. I followed apple's recommendations and have reinstalled itunes several times with no luck. During this re-install, when I plug my Ipad into my PC, I get the device failed to connect and it doesn't appear in "my computer" listings. Any idea how to rectify this?
Have you tried a different USB port? They're sometimes a bit iffy. One that's direct to the motherboard (i.e not through a hub) is better. On a desktop PC, they're usually around the back.
If that doesn't fix it, try a different PC, if there's one available. -
when Update to 10.7.2 ,I cannot access to any site with ssl connection and fail to open safari and keychain, unless restart computer and login in with Guest account.

Macbook Pro 2010-mid 13inchI also have the same problem, however if I use Firefox or Opera sites with ssl connection work fine. Still, I can't use Google Chrome (ssl), Safari (ssl), the Mac app store (generally), or the iTunes store (generally). Both the iTunes store, Safari and the app store won't respond, and Chrome displays this error: (net::ERR_TIMED_OUT). The problem persists regardless of what network I'm using. Also, when trying to access the keychain or iCloud, the process will not start (will hang). I didn't have these problems at all before updating to 10.7.2.
Sometimes rebooting helps, and sometimes not. If the problem disappears by rebooting, then it only lasts a few minutes before it reappears. It is very frustrating, especially since there doesn't seem to be any obvious or consistent way of which to fix it.
I'm also using a Macbook Pro 13-inch mid 2010. -
'"Connection Failed" : The server "rrnas01" may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again' message keeps displaying whenever I try to open any Adobe CS5 applications (except for Adobe Acrobat Pro). It displays until I click "OK" about 15-20 times or so and then will finally let my program open.
I have tried deleting files within my Library/Preferences folder and turning off/deleting login items within my system preferences as other forums suggested but nothing happened. Spending 3.5 hours on the phone with Adobe and completely uninstalling and then reinstalling the entire CS5 Master Collection didn't work either.
Also, it may be helpful to know that my programs worked fine for about three weeks then when we got internet and changed the password (the join, not the adminstrative password) with the wireless network "ScubaSteve" (which I've used with no problems at my old apartment) it started acting up. I have never seen "rrnas01" before so I don't know at all where it came from. I also installed the free 30 day trial of Suitcase Fusion 3 recently, but thinking that could also be the cause I have uninstalled it, and still no help.

Thanks in advance for ny help you can give me.It may not be possible .. there is a major bug between Mountain Lion and the TC where the TC disk goes off the radar of the computer.
Lion is also affected but not as badly.
7.6.4 seems worse than earlier firmware.. so back to 7.6.1 or 7.5.2 if that is possible.
Obviously that is not a solution for a later Gen5 TC.
Reset to factory after the firmware downgrade. .use all network names that are short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.
If the TC is the main router set the dhcp to a very short lease time.. eg 30min.. and see how it goes, or try a longer lease like 99days.
I prefer the very short lease but response has been mixed.
Use ethernet not wireless.. ethernet is always more reliable and stable than wireless.
And last .. a nightly electric timer that powers off every night at midnight for 1min.. would not be the first device we have suggested a fix that amounts to beat the unit to the punch by forcing it to reboot since it is unstable. -
Fingerprint reader not working in IE and saying failed to connect to sensor
Hi all,
I bought a Qosmio x500 10t a couple of months back. For the first couple of weeks i had no probs using the fingerprint reader to log in to windows and to log in to websites in Internet exploer.
All of a sudden it would not work on any website stored. The green banner showed accross the top of site and asked to swipe finger but nothing happened when I swiped. I rebooted and it worked again but not for long before failing. This time a reboot didnt work so i deleted my finger prints and websites and started from scratch. That worked for a couple of attempts before probs started again. And on trying to get into Fingerprint utility it says failure to connect to sensor. So, I did a system restore. It worked for a couple of times again and then same probs. So I found the updated utility software, uninstalled the old and put on the new. Same again, worked for a couple of times then failed.
I could not find anything stuck in the registry but to be on the safe side i did a full system clean back to factory setup using backup discs. Hey presto i thought it had worked. Everything going ok for first 24hrs and then same problems start to occur. Only this time it is also prompting me to enroll fingerprints even though i already have. And when i try to get into the utilioty it says failed to read sensor again.
The fingerprint log on to windows always works as long as i dont close the fingerprint utility down before shutting down. If i do exit the utilty i cant reopen it as it just says failed to connect to sensor. And then i have to unistall and reinstall the utility software. Aty the moment it occasionally works on websites stored but most of the time it doesnt do anything.

When starting the Toshiba Fingerprint Utility, it says "failed to connect to fingerprint sensor".
Is it possible that just before it stopped working there was a new firewall installed, or firewall settings had been changed?
*In my case, the problem was solved by changing my firewall settings* (Windows 7 Firewall Control) to ALLOW all traffic for
the Authentec Fingerprint Sensor Service (AFSS). It is the file "AtService.exe" in C:\Program files
The reason is simple:
The Toshiba Fingerprint utility communicates with the fingerprint sensor service via TCP/IP.
Therefore, any firewall that blocks traffic on the local computer will block the communication.
*After changing my firewall settings, fingerprint sensor works* on my R700 flawlessly now. -
Netctl fails to connect to a wireless network and does not give detail
If I try to connect to a wireless network (WEP, DHCP) using netctl I get "Jon for netctl@wlp2s0\x2dnetworkname.service failed." and two commands (journalctl -xn and systemctl status ...) that should give details about the error.
However, both of them give the following lines:

If you look at the netctl.profile man page, it explains some special quoting rules at the end. AFP fails to connect to a PC volume and gives a "version of the server you are trying to connect to is not supported" error message.

I have a W2K3 server where the volume is. It's a new Mac with OSX 10.8 and is connecting with AFP (I don’t want to move to SMB yet). There are older Macs with lower OS and all of them work fine. I have checked all the basic stuff and it is set-up correctly (hosts file on Mac, network, etc.).

You will need to boot from some alternate boot device to accomplish this, if you did not initialize the drive before installing it.
If you have another Mac, you may be able to use FireWire target disk mode.
If your MacBook has a DVD reader and you have a Mac OS X Installer/Utilities DVD, such as the one that shipped with it, you can boot from that DVD, answer only the "what Language" question, and wait a quarter minute for the MenuBar to be drawn. Then examine the Utilities menu or the Installer menu and Find Disk Utility. -

Now my installation failed with "Start Java engine "phase as in the attached screenshot.
scs00 instance is failing and i am unable to start it.
