  • Ink for HP Photosmart Plus model B209a

I purchased this all-in-one after Thanksgiving.  Does it just come with a sample ink supply?  I'm wondering because all I have printed on it was our Christmas letter and I made about 70 copies, then it showed that the ink was low.  I ordered the replacement ink package and the black one is too small, apparently it needs the extra large black cartridge.  I have read all the materials that came with the printer and I don't see that anywhere.  I also don't see where you can order the ink supply package with the extra large black cartridge.  Has anyone else had this problem?  Am I missing something?

  • Why can I only use HP ink for my Photosmart Printer?

HP ink is ridiculously expensive. We all know that. That's how your company became successful and your executive's became rich. Fine. But, you did not become successful by selling printers or any other "hardware", you became successful by selling INK. Selling it at wildly inflated prices. Here's another example: Movie theaters make all their money, not through ticket sales (i.e. selling printers) but by selling popcorn at ridiculous prices (by selling ink at ridiculous prices).
I see, on Amazon and a number of other sites, "refurbished" cartridges. Are they refurbished by HP? I'm quite seiously considering getting a non-HP printer and returning my Photosmart 6520 to Amazon.Com . Getting a non-HP printer. I will also check to see what Consumer Reports says.
Meanwhile, I am going through ink like it's water. I get maybe TEN PHOTOS printed out per cartridge."Photosmart" is right. You were VERY smart! You sucker us in with excellent machines, then drain us of every dime we make replacing your fraudulent cartridges. "Fraudulent"? Yup. You have your machines say "Ink is "low". With the cartridge still one third filled. That's not LOW. And, you KNOW that. But, you send endless messages, one after another after another after another trying to freak us out, SCARE us into buying more and more and more and more.... INK.  Frankly, because of your fraudulent "warning system", I probably throw OUT as much ink as I USE!   And, that is JUST the way you like it. I GET it. WE ALL GET IT.
And, those air boxes saying "Do you want a reward?" I click "YES". Nothing. Nothing.
Can you tell me anything at all that will allow me to stay with HP? I think the quality of your printers is quite high. But, I cannot afford multiple hundreds of dollars a yearon INK. I'm just not that stupid. Currently, after only a few weeks, I am spending more money on ink than I am on FOOD.  I will not continue to do so.
CAN you help me somehow? Is there a way to make more reasonable the prices of your ink cartridges by either extending life or buying refurbished?
    I await your answer.

    Hi,
Firstly I'd like to clarify myself: I'm not working for any hardware and software vendor. I've posted few times: they (all of them) don't sell printers, they sell inks because in many cases total cost of a new set of inks is more expensive than a new printer with inks (I know cartridges are not full). Since inks are very expensive, many people use chip resetters, continuous inks systems .... to reduce printing cost such as some thing like one of this.
    Regards.

  • 564 black ink - printer using photo ink for general printing!

I ran out of regular black ink for my Photosmart C6380 a couple of weeks ago.  Had a full cartridge of photo black, but none was used - pages were very faint gray.  After replacing the empty cartridge with a 564XL, I see that my photo black is now half empty while the regular black ink is full and has not been touched at all!!  Where's the confusion?  How do I make the printer draw from the standard ink cartridge instead of the photo?  It won't work without every cartridge in place.

    Hi Selig,
Thanks for posting you issue on forum,
From what i understand you would like to Print use black ink only instead of photo black.
You have an option under the printer driver which says Black ink only, by selecting that you will not be able to print color. On most cases this should help you use the black cartridge over the photo black.
If you have to print color you might need to change this option,
I dont have the printer over here but the steps are from best of my knowledge.
Go to Control Panel>> Devices and Printers>> Highlight Printer>>Right click on Printer and click Printing Preferences.
Click on Advance>>click on the drop down for Print in Greyscale and select Black Ink only
with newer driver we have this option under Printing Preferences>>Paper/Quality tab and under Quality settings.

  • Replacement Model for the discontinued HP Photosmart C4783 All-in-One Printer

    Hello,
Can anyone tell if there is a very similar replacement model for the C4783? I need the same forn factor.

I am not sure you can find replacement models for this printer but I will do my best to find out. The entire product line for Photosmart C4600 and C4700 are the last models to use that same printer shape and size.  I checked for compatible printers that used that kind of ink and none even looked like the same kind of printer.  The next generation was the Photosmart D110 which would have been the possible upgraded version of this printer but it is hard to say if it is going to have the same "forn factor."
Are you referring to the form factor as the chassis or as an electrical component?  I found your exact model of printer at the HP Parts Store listed as a replacement model (product #: Q8380B) suggesting to contact one of these available resellers.  I hope this answers your questions.  If not, define forn factor and hopefully I can help you more.

  • Photosmart 8750 replacement ink cartridges

I am having difficulty finding replacement  HP 101 and HP 102 ink cartridges for my Photosmart 8750 printer.
Is HP no longer supporting this printer? Is there a workaround available by replacing the cartridges with some other series?  Can I set up the printer to print without the missing cartridges?
It seems a shame to junk the printer as it works well and has given me excellent service.

Thanks, but I tried both of those with no success.  Amazon.com has been helpful.

  • I bought a 364 XL cartridge for my Photosmart 6510 printer, but it doesn't fit.

I bought a 364 XL cartridge for my Photosmart 6510 printer, but it doesn't fit—it's too wide. Yet the User Manual I downloaded from HP (helpfully called c02983796) clearly shows an illustration of the XL cartridge fitting in the printer. Advice?

  • Stop it from using photo black ink for black text printing and where has the color ink gone?

My HP Photosmart Prem C310 series all in one is using the Black Photo ink cartridge for text printing instead of the XL Black that I put in it for text printing. How can I get it to use the right cartridge for printing? Also, even though I have NOT printed ANY photo's and very few pages of text the new set of color cartridges I put in it a few months ago are almost empty. Why? How could they be almost empty when I have NOT printed anything in color? This is getting ridiculous replacing ink cartridges every few months WHEN I HAVE NOT BEEN PRINTING ANYTHING!!!
The set of ink cartridges that came with it lasted for several months. Since then I've gone through two sets in less than a year. That's 3 sets of ink cartridges when I have only printed 3 photo's when I first set it up. And have only used les than a 1/4 of one package of printing paper. I've only put paper in it twice. Each time it was about a 1/4 inch or 3/8 of an inch thick stack of paper in the tray. I've even tried shutting the printer down when its not being used for a long period of time but the ink is still disapearing. Where is it going? Why is it going there? How do I stop it? This is rediculous. I may as well junk the thing even though it still works because I cant aford to keep feeding it ink when its just sitting there doing nothing most of the time.
    Thank you

I just got another email from HP about this problem wanting to know what I found for a solution to this problem. From all of the suggestions from the HP tec support all of them pretty much kept saying the same thing. That it is my fault that it's using so much ink because I have it on the wrong settings. One tec did slip and say that it doesn't matter what settings you have it on it will always use the Photo Black cartridge for printing plain black text and it doesn't matter if you have a X-Large Black cartridge in it for text printing because it was made to always use the Photo Black for text and even use some of the colors to blend with the black to make it stand out. Why anybody would need this when just printing shipping labels and things like that I don't know.
Any who, The only solution for this problem is,,,, junk the printer and get a different brand & model of printer. Research it before buying to find out how much ink it wants to waste and if it will still print black text if it only has a black cartridge in it. I was going to get rid of mine by giving it to a friend since they don't have a printer. But since I want to keep him as a friend I decided not to give it to him. Since it cant be traded in for a different one even though it still works, Its going to the target shooting range the next time I go out shooting. Maybe I'll take a few video's clips of it getting blasted to pieces with a Ruger 10-22 .22 cal. rifle with 25 shot clips, a Ruger Mini-14 Ranch Rifle shooting .223 cal with a 30 shot clip, a Chinese SKS 7.62 with a 30 shot clip. And maybe use my Ruger P89 9mm pistol and put a couple 15 round clips of 9mm in it. If there's anything left I'll finish it off with a few 3" magnum loads of #2 steel shot with my 20 gauge shotgun.  Then I think I'll do the same thing to my Westinghouse 46" flat screen HDTV that just died.
Then maybe I'll come back and post the video's of my "solution to this printers problem". It may not fix the problem, but it will be an entertaining way of getting rid of the problem.

    Hello sergent6013,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that after changing the inks in your Deskjet F2280 that the printer is still showing they're empty. I will try and assist you with this issue.
Here is a document: Blinking Lights, that may be of use to you. It would guide through steps and causes as to what my be going on based on indicators on your printer.
Also, this document: Faded or Dull Colors in Printouts, has a few steps that might be helpful too.
Try a combination of both, and see how things go. If you need further help, or have questions please let me know.

  • Replacing ink cartridges

I have a 7520 All in one printer and it has 4 small cartridges and 1 large black.  The small black is for photo and my question is, do I have to replace the small black cartridge since I have the large one.  Doesn't the printer use from the large 564 XL for all printing.  My old printer just had 4 cartridges and when I bought my color replacement ink I didn't get the small black one.  Do I really need it?
