  • Px6-300d-THZ4PI, drive replaced, now drive requires overwrite confirmation

I have a px6-300d thz4pi, with 6 drives in raid 5. 1 drive has failed. I replaced the drive, and it now says drive 1 requires overwrite confirmation. I go into drive management, click on the drive, and click on Yes to overwrite. The blue bottom blue light blinks for a while, and the Drive 1 requires overwrite confirmation message comes back. What needs to be done to allow the new drive to be used and RAID5 rebuilt?

Is the replacement drive approved to work with the px6?

  • Replacement Program: headphones required?

I joined to the iPod nano (1st generation) Replacement Program. Do I have to send to Apple headphones too? Unfortunately I do not have them anymore because they got broken long ago.
(I apologize if I did something wrong, this is my first message. And I apologize for my bad English too!)

Just type in your serial number to find out if your unit is eligible.  They do not ask any questions about unit condition.
    "From: Apple <[email protected]>
    Date: November 11, 2011 11:25:11 PM CST
Subject: iPod nano (1st generation) Replacement Program
    Dear iPod nano owner,
Apple has determined that, in very rare cases, the battery in the iPod nano (1st generation)may overheat and pose a safety risk. Affected iPod nanos were sold between September 2005 and December 2006.
This issue has been traced to a single battery supplier that produced batteries with a manufacturing defect. While the possibility of an incident is rare, the likelihood increases as the battery ages.
Apple recommends that you stop using your iPod nano (1st gen) and follow the process noted below to order a replacement unit, free of charge.
Note: This battery issue is specific to the iPod nano (1st gen) and does not affect any other iPod.
    Replacement Process
You may order a replacement unit via the web. Click here to begin. (http://www.apple.com/support/ipodnano_replacement/?cid=CDM-US-DM-P0010121-CON&cp =em--&sr=em)
Your iPod nano serial number will be checked to verify that it is eligible for this program. You will receive a replacement unit approximately 6 weeks after we receive your current iPod nano (1st gen).
If you have a personalized iPod nano, you will receive a non-personalized replacement. Make sure to use iTunes to back up any data on your current iPod nano before sending it in for a replacement unit.
    Additional Information
Identifying an iPod nano (1st gen):
It has a black or white plastic front and a silver metal back - later iPod nano models have a metal front and back.
If you need assistance with placing an order, please visit an Apple Retail Store or anApple Authorized Service Provider (AASP) and bring your iPod nano with you for serial number validation.
Your replacement iPod product is warranted to be free from defects for 90 days from the date of service.
Thank you for participating in this program.
    Sincerely,
    Apple"

  • G4-AGP: battery replaced; Startup still requires removing battery

My old and trusty G4 did not start up: fan went on, yellow light went on, then stuck.
I found out that when I replace the logic board battery and put it back in, the G4 starts without problems.
Hence, I replaced the battery, thinking it was empty (would be reasonable after 5 years of use).
But the G4 still has the same problem!
Either the battery from Radioshack is empty (although new), or...?
What else could be going on?

  • Replacing the nano battery with the invisible shield... How?

Does anyone know how the invisible shield will work when the battery needs to be replaced? I am looking for a permanent solution. While I know that I will be able to peel the Invisible Shield off for the battery replacement, the shield will become stretched and distorted. At this point I will not have a shield, and don't have to want to buy another one. The only solution I think would be possible is if there was a way to slice the shield with a razor (around the seam). Any ideas. Perhaps I shouldn't buy the Invisible shield, it might just be a short term solution.
    Anyone?

Actually, I think the more prudent question is whether or not the nano will even be accepted for battery replacement by Apple, or anyone else with a cover like that attached to it.
They could even charge extra money to deal with it, I can see either situation as being realistic.
If that does turn out to be the situation, then it would come down to a matter of costs as far as what you would need to do.
That being said, I personally think it is way too early to even worry about things like that since it is years off at a minimum, and it could very possibly never need to be done.

  • Does changing a power supply require thermal calibration?

Hi all. I recently changed the power supply on a Late 2005 dual core 2.0 GHz G5 and now the fans are on full bore from startup. Of the 2 fans in the rear of the CPU, only the bottom one (where the 2nd processor would go if it was a quad) was going nuts, the top seemed normal. I swapped that fan with another one and now the top one is spinning away and the bottom seems normal. At first I thought it was only the rear fans but now I think it's all of them. I removed the clear deflector shield, which would normally make the fans kick it up a notch, but they didn't. I think they're already maxed out. The LED on the LB goes off when the clear door is in place so I know it's being seen. It does this with or without a hard drive installed and it does it when booting from an OS disc. I guess my question is: does replacing the PSU require the Apple Service Diagnostic disc? I thought that was only if the CPU was swapped. I put the same one back in. Other than the fans everything is working again. Thanks in advance.

Well, quite frankly, I haven't a clue as to what you might have forgotten. I think that there is a point of no return that you reach where you will need a calibration no matter how you back out, but I don't know what that point is. I've never swapped a PSU in a PMG5.
You, fiveinchwrench, are one of the few brave souls that have both done this an posted your results
I am simply trying to think of things that maybe you haven't. Maybe something is wrong with one of the fans in addition to needing the calibration. I figured that you double and triple checked everything, but it doesn't hurt to ask.
    Luck-

  • Find and replace value in Delimited String

    Hi All,
I have a requirement, where i need to find and replace values in delimited string.
For example, the string is "GL~1001~157747~FEB-13~CREDIT~A~N~USD~NULL~". The 4th column gives month and year. I need to replace it with previous month name. For example: "GL~1001~157747~JAN-13~CREDIT~A~N~USD~NULL~". I need to do same for last 12 months.
I thought of first devide the values and store it in variable and then after replacing it with required value, join it back.
I just wanted to know if there is any better way to do it?

  • Something went wrong with the invisible shield application

After putting on the invisible shield, I was really happy because it turned out great. I waited about two to three hours then started using it.
To my horror, I think my nano might have shorted out because when I press play the song changes. sometimes the play/pause button doesnt even do anything when i press on it...when i touch the volume control, it increases and decreases erratically regardless of what im trying to do...sometimes it even seems like my nano has a mind of its own because when i simply move the nano, without touching the controls, the song changes or the volume changes.
this erratic behavior occurs sporadically. sometimes my nano works fine. then right when i think all is well, my nano becomes possessed. is it possible that my nano has shorted out? maybe i should let it dry?

    hey carl,
The process of applying the shield requires that I wet the film with soap and water. What do you suggest I do? My mistake was that I did not put on the hold button when I was applying the wet film and thus my ipod turned on while I was putting on the shield. i realize now that my nano should not have turned on for 24 hours. Should I just wait and see if the funky behavior goes away? or should i visit the nearest apple store?

  • Anyone replace the keyboard on thier Macbook?  I have 1 broken key.

My plus 4 year old MacBook 13" Intel Core Duo continues to work great!  The only prblem is that there is a broken key (not just the cover key) on the keyboard.  Anyone replace their keyboard?  estimated cost?  Is it worth it based upon the age (technology of this machine).
    Thank you.  Jim

Depending on the exact model build & year MacBook/Pro, a keyboard
may be an involved process, to replace; it could require you to replace
the top half of the bottom section (that means the keyboard, trackpad
and the plastic housing.) Perhaps just a key may be repaired?
    {Your tag-line below post says "MacBook Pro" - yet post says MacBook.}
To take a look into the iFixit guides to repair a MacBook, narrow down
the different ones to find what matches yours, can give an idea on that.
    •MacBook Pro - repair guide - iFixit:
    http://www.ifixit.com/Device/MacBook_Pro
General - All portable mac repair guides:
    http://www.ifixit.com/Device/Mac_Laptop
Also you may be able to replace just the key-cap and spring under it.
If that is the actual cause of the problem you face, you can get a new
single key and spring parts. Parts vary depending on exact model.
Some days ago I posted a reply to a different keyboard question and
there are links in there that each may be worth a look... in MacBook
area. One of those links shows other Apple Portables & parts.
•can anyone tell me how to reattach a key...

A company such as powerbookmedic may carry parts, pre-owned
and otherwise. Repair companies who also have inventory may
be worth it to contact, if you can identify precisely your MacBook.
A possible connection there may be one like wegenermedia.com
Perhaps some of that may be of help.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Need to know If I can Replace this

    http://coolcrossovers.com/car/47252141-7.html
Ignore the car just look at the radio and all that, I need to know if this can be replaced without making my car look trashy, for example if it is replaced will it leave a gaping hole in my dash because of its irregular size?

That can definitely be replaced.  Whether it looks trashy or not is pretty much in he eye of the beholder.  Replacing it would require this dash kit and it can be either a double din or a single din unit.  I have had clients that have gone with a double din unit before just because it fills more of the space and "looks better" in the dash.  Either way you go, there won't be any gaps when using the dash kit because it fills the exact space that the factory radio occupied.  That kit is typically not stocked in store at all so you would want to order it ahead of time.  You would also require a wire harness to replace the stereo and there are two possibilities: NON JBL and JBL.  Both of those parts are typically stocked in store and which one you need is determined by the vehicle itself.  Usually if the JBL system is present it will say JBL right on the face of your factory radio.  A good idea would be to call your local store to determine if they have those harnesses or if you would need to order them as well.

  • Replacing all text in book with sample text

    Hello fellows,
Is there a way to replace all the textual content in a book with some sample text using Extendscript?
If yes, could you please point me to the relevant APIs?
Thank you for your help in advance!

Yes, the point that Rick was making crossed my mind, too. Using regular expressions, you can easily specify which characters should be replaced. Listing a number of same-width characters and replacing them with an "x" is as easy as this:
    sTextString.replace ( /[abcdefghknopqrsuvyz]/g, "x" );
This would leave the non-mentioned characters as they are. Depending a little bit on the fonts that are used, of course, as they might have different character widths for more than the ones I left out. But even if you only replace a couple of characters throughout the doc, it would be enough to get the desired effect.
The difficulty is getting to the text strings and also to replace them. There are many objects for which a GetText method exists, but you have to set the flags such that you actually get the right text strings out of that method. And then you have to figure out where in the doc the text string is, then delete the existing one and add the replacement. All of this has to be done without deleting any markers or anchors.
Another approach might be to set the text location to the first character in the main flow and then walking through the entire document character by character, testing each one and replacing it where required. But I don't think you would get into tables with that method, as those are linked to the running text via an anchor in that running text. So the table cells will have to be processed separately. And if you do have a method to change text in table cells, you can use that method on all paragraphs.
I think Rick has more experience in tweaking text strings. I am usually working on structured documents and only handling the element objects and their hierarchy, not so much changing the text content of documents. Rick, do you have an approach to walk through all text strings in a document and replace them without breaking anything ?
    Ciao

  • Replacement order for sales order stock

    Hi gurus,
I'm trying to supply a replacement order with reference to another order that has sales order stock (E).
I can't supply the replacement order because of the stock is assigned to the original order.
    Is it possible to do?
    Best regards.

Yes, Possible if you set reason for rejection to original sales order line items  to remove the stock requirement in stock requirements list in order to make availabality of stock for replacement order. if you are rising the replacement order based on the original order is not supposed deliver. So cancel the requirements by entering  reason for rejection for original sales order line items and rise the replacement order or if have already rised run GATP to replacement of stock requirements in md04 and
schedulines will be generated based on availabality of stock.
    OR
Please precise your scnerio ie; Replacement orders are return orders if you rise return order based on the orginal order stock
requirement doesnot shows in  stock requirement  list (md04 ) because PGI has been done. Based on the customer complaints on qty deliverd return order will be rised. if return order is rised, it transfers the requirements to stock requirements list. So md04 allot the stock for those which Orders are placed first (FIFO)
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Exit for replacing WBS element characters while copying from Project

    Hi All,
While copying a Project from other Project/template in CJ01, we are getting only first 10 letters of a WBS element are getting replaced.
The requirement is to have replacement of letters even after 10th character in WBS element.
The SAP Note 502322 suggests to have user specific (custom) replacement logic in the user exit CNEX0033.
Anyone has worked around such requirements?? If so can you share it,,,?????
    Regards
    Pavan

    Hi,
While creating a Project in CJ01 by giving a template, the new Project will get created with all WBS elements from the template Project.
In standard system, the WBS Element which has more than 10 characters will get copied till 10th character only.
Now we need to work on user exit CNEX0033, so that entire WBS element name should get copied in the new Project.
Anyone has worked on such requirement???
When i create new Project in CJ01, the exit CNEXX0033 will trigger..
If so can you suggest me how to move further??

  • Tasks that require ROOT for RAC DBA

Our Networking Team and Applications Team are going through some growing pains. We are trying to resolve what permissions should be given to a RAC DBA. Our RAC DBA is responsible for Oracle Clusterware, Oracle Automatic Storage
Management and Oracle RDBMS software. The OS, Server and Storage Subsystem are the responsibility of the System Administrator. We have the following Environment:
    Production and Test (RAC)
Oracle Enterprise Linux 5 update 2
Oracle Clusterware 11.2.0.2 -- Grid Infrastructure
    Oracle ASM 11.2.0.2
    Oracle Database 11.2.0.2 EE
    Development (Single Instance)
Oracle Enterprise Linux 5 update 2
Oracle ASM 11.2.0.2 -- Grid Infrastructure
    Oracle Database 11.2.0.2 EE
As the RAC DBA, I have identified the following areas that require ROOT for RAC and Single Instance DB's; however, I understand there may be more:
    diagcollection.pl
    - diagnostic tool for Oracle Clusterware and may be requested by Oracle Support
    ocrconfig
    - to repair ocr configuration issue (add, replace and remove requires root)
    srvctl modify
    - required root to change ip address
    tar
    - TAR Grid Infrastructure Directory structure preserving files with ROOT ownership
    cluvfy
    - cluvfy fix it scripts need to run as ROOT
    - some cluvfy commands under 11gr1 would only run properly for -post cfs check as ROOT in our last installation
    ASM Libraries
    - ROOT required to install and configure ASM libraries
    fdisk - l
    - this is used to see disks attached which is relevant when ASM disks are not mounted
    /etc/sysconfig/oracleasm
    - oracleasm loading configuration file
    /usr/sbin/oracleasm
    - to make disks available to ASMLIB (scandisks etc.)
    /usr/sbin/asmtool
    - asm config tool due to bug
    asm cluster file system
    - some commands require ROOT (mounting etc.)
    - acfsutil
    /var/log/messages
    - loading errors ohas and oracleasm would be logged here
    cvuqdisk
    - needs to be loaded for new install
    root.sh
    - script needed to run at install, upgrades and patching
    oraInstRoot.sh
    - script needed to run at install
    rootupgrade.sh
    - upgrade script
    roothas.pl
    - upgrade script
    ocrcheck
    - check for ocr corruption
    - corrupt check portion requires ROOT
    - oracle local registry
    Grid Infrstructure
    - .runInstaller from Grid Infrastructure
    - includes upgrades
    asm configuration assistant (asmca)
    - configuration of asm diskgroups
    - vol mgr for asm disks
    ocrconfig
    - ocr configuration tool
    - ocr import
    - ocr export
    - oracle local registry
    ocrdump
    - used to check ocr backup file
    - oracle local registry
    opatch
    - patching grid control requires ROOT
    crsctl
    - Startup and Shutdown Oracle Clusterware, Oracle ASM and Database/Instance
    - restore voting disk
    - restore ocr
    - set log for dynamic debugging
    - check install periodically
    srvctl
    - modify nodeapps (ex. ip address change)
    - add filesystem (acfs)
What other items would a RAC DBA need to have ROOT access for?

I'd like to say at the outset that this is a scenario and I am NOT in anyway choosing who does what. A simple -- not so simple -- discussion of roles and responsibilities and associated privileges. If you say that the System Administrator is managing the Grid Infrastructure then this would include all Clusterware and Storage Management (ASM) activities. The System Administrator would manage the OCR and Voting Disks, backups, integrity checks etc. The DBA would then only be responsible for adding the storage within the database itself like assigning tablespaces that reference ASM Disk Groups. This doesn't mean that the DBA can't see the ASM information in the database. The major challenge seems to give your DBA access to the OS, networking and storage tools to preliminarily investigate what they believe to be a OS, networking or storage issue. Without this crossover, your System Administrator may be doing work that is unnecessary. A DBA should have clear understandings of what performance the storage system, cpu, memory and networking should be providing and access to the tools that allow them to understand what side of the fence an issue resides.
There seem to be choices for an organization.
    1) Is there a position called RAC DBA or is the RAC portion managed by the System Administrator.
    2) If a RAC DBA exists then what should the System Administrator be responsible for
    3) What access is need for an existing RAC DBA?
    4) How will access privileges be given to the RAC DBA?
    5) other considerations regarding security?
I agree that there needs to be crossover regarding handling workload and issues. The agreements on roles and responsibilities shouldn't stop the crossover but they should help in understanding who is ultimately responsible for certain areas of the system and application.
If this isn't happening at organizations then how is it handled? or not handled?
