Replacement ipad mini as good?
I have cracked the screen of my ipad mini with retina and although not bad, three months later it is starting to annoy me... I believe in the UK it is not possible to have the screen replaced by apple - only the whole unit to be replaced, at a price, with a tablet which is not brand new - is it going to be as good as my originally new ipad or am I going to feel like I now have a second rate replacement...

Peoples opinions vary on the refurbished replacements. Some swear they're better, others say they're not.
refurbs do go through more intensive testing than the iPads off the assembly line, which often have 'sample inspection'....meaning they check (making up numbers here) every 1000th that rolls off and if it's fine the whole run is declared fine.
I think the refurbs can also be perfectly good devices that were, for example, sold, returned then sent back to the factory to be refurbished.
If it were mine, I'd get mine replaced because your iPad is a figurative timebomb...because that cracked screen could do more damage and end up totally breaking your device, perhaps resulting in the loss of data.
Your replacement will come with a warranty.

I purchased an iPad Mini less than a month ago, and I was recently bumped into on campus and the iPad, cased up and all, fell out of my arms and now has some (albeit minor) damage to the top near the earbud port. I understand that this is not covered by my warranty, and I'm fine with that. I do not expect a free replacement or anything of the sort. I understand I will have to pay for a new device. I read that I may be able to get an out-of-service replacement for $219, and I just want to verify that that's correct information. It'd be such a bummer to have to pay another $429 + tax, or worse, void out my warranty completely by getting a third-party repair job. I enclosed a picture below for a rough idea of the damage.

I got my 2nd ipad mini replacement from apple service center here in the Philippines last January 31, 2014. Technically this is my 3rd ipad mini (from the 1st that i bought to the 1st and 2nd replacement). After two weeks of use i noticed that it has also the same defects as with my 1st ipad mini replacement. (What is the odd of having 3 defective ipad minis?!) Apple service center here replace defective ipad mini with brand new one instead of repairing the product if and only if the defects is caused by hardware problems. I am planning to take this back to apple service center. My question is, is it possible to replace my ipad mini with the newer version? (i am very sure that they will still replace this with a new one.) Their price difference is just about Php5,000. I can just add for their price difference.

I usually just write over the file with the same file name, often with DVDSP closed.
If you're doing an m2v file and the duration has changed, just go the the end of the clip in the track and drag it right as far as you can. Otherwise it'll replace the asset but use the previous version's duration.

No. Damage caused by the user is not covered by warranty. A replacement iPad mini is $219 for the 1st generation, or $249 for the iPad mini with Retina display. -

This is to report the problem i encountered when i updated my Ipad mini to the new IOS 8.1..
After the update my Ipad restart and after that it appears a picture that need to connect to itunes and need to restore. So i connect it to itunes and wait to restore my ipad mini because it is not opening.
After restoring it my ipad is now opening and it is like new that i need to set up again.
I set up again until i reach the apple id and password.
I put my below apple ID and password to unlock my ipad but it didn't work. The message i receive is "the apple ID cannot be used to unlock this Ipad.
What will I do? Please help.

I've just received the replacement today, and I restored it from a backup I made back in July when my old iPad didn't have iOS 7. And I've updated the new iPad to iOS 7, but I don't know how to transfer the data I have on my old iPad mini in iOS 7 format into the new already backed up iPad mini. Can someone help me?
Restore from iTune Backup
1. Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings
2. You'll be asked twice to confirm
3. You'll see Apple logo and progress bar
4. You'll see a big iPad logo on screen
5. Configuration start
6. Set language
7. Set country
8. Select Network and input Password>Join
9. Enable Location Service>Next
10. You'll be given 3 options (a) Setup as New iPad (b) Restore from iCloud Backup (c) Restore from iTune Backup
