Replacement iphone 3gs problem

Replacement iphone 3gs came with iOS 6.0 but on initial set up i am told to use my iCloud i need 6.1.3 onwards. Cannot update iOS as cannot get past the set up stage. Need to recover my 800 odd photos somehow. Do i go the iTunes route on set up? Will this help me to find my photos or do i have to set up with the cloud? Help if you can. Thanks

You couldn't have restored your old backup because in order to do so you have to be running the same or higher version of iOS on your replacement phone. Since it's running iOS 6.0 in can't restore a backup made on a phone runnin 6.1.3 until it's updated, which is why you got that message.
Update your replacement phone to the latest iOS (7.0.4) by following the directions here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4623. After it's updated, go to Settings>General>Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings, then go through the setup screens on the phone and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup and follow the prompts, choosing the backup of your old phone to restore from. Be sure your phone is connected to wifi and your charger as it is restoring the backup.

Take the device to Apple for evaluation and possible replacement.

IPhone 3gS problem

Hey guys,
I've got a problem with an iPhone 3gS, the volume bar in the 'iPod app' doesn't respond properly, The bar moves but the volume doesn't change. Tried resetting and that didn't work. The only thing that worked for a short time was turning it off or syncing it. I then sent it in for repair and got a replacement but a couple of days later the problems came back and it's now alot worse.
Does anyone have a clue on how to solve this?

How are you listening? Via headphones, then internal speaker, or a dock? If it's a dock, in some cases output is controlled only by the dock system, not the iPhone itself.

IPhone 3GS Problem/Touch Controls no longer respond after random intervals

Hi all,
I need some answers regarding my iPhone 3GS 32gig, which was working perfectly until about a month ago, after I upgraded to firmware v3.1.
The touch screen 'locks up' i.e. it won't accept any input via the screen and seems to happen at random intervals, but the app continues to run. If I leave it long enough, it'll accept input again after a minute or two, otherwise, I hit the sleep button and then the home button to wake it, and it obeys my commands again. But only until the next time. It can occur using ANY app but really ***** when I'm de-stressing with a good game of Space Invaders Infinity Gene.
I've tried all sorts of things to correct the issue based on what I've read on the web, foremost, restoring the iPhone from a backup. That didn't help. I had about 500meg of free space left and thought maybe it needs more than that to function perfectly, so I deleted a lot of games and apps (mostly lite versions) and freed up enough space so that 1 gig was left available. Still no help. Tried restoring again, still no change.
When the 3.1.2 update came out, I hoped it would fix it. Alas, no.
Push notifications are turned off for my Mobile Me account, and for all the other apps that allow push notifications. I'm with Optus, not that that would make a difference (?).
Given that apps run one at-a-time, I can't believe any single app could be causing this behaviour, and I don't like the idea of trying to find out what that app might be if it is by copying them individually back to the iPhone just to see when the problem comes back again.
Oh yeah, and I've not jail broken my iPhone. Seriously.
Can anyone make any other suggestions? I imagine resetting all settings from the Settings screen will delete my progress on Space Invaders Infinity Gene, so I'd rather not if I can help it.

Not that it helps, but a me too here.
It randomly seems to stop responding for a while.
I often find I cant skip tracks in the music player etc.
This is a brand new stock phone, upgraded to 3.1.
Sleeping and turning on again seems to fix it, or waiting for ages

I am almost about to give up hope with this. I have posted FOUR questions with no answers, so someone please answer this one.
My iPhone 3GS has never been jailbroken. A couple of months ago now, the bottom half of my iPhone screen became unresponsive so I thought I would try to restore it to see if it would make it alright again. Worst mistake of my life. It is now stuck in recovery mode and will not come out, for anything. I have had various different error messages, i've tried everything. All the software programs, holding home and power and whatever else. Nothing. When trying to restore it, it will come to the last part of the bar and fail. Every single time. I really could do with some help on this one. Please.

Take a look at this link, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414 It's look like your iPhone needs to be repaired, the digitizer is damaged and it could be causing the problem of not letting your iPhone completely restore. Take your iPhone to your nearest Apple store.

brendan002 do you have Iphone 3Gs did u upgrade to iOS 4 after the upgrade did u face any problems if your answer is No to all that mean it is not your problem if your answer was yes that mean you still dont anderstand the case.

Replaced iphone 3Gs will not sync with itunes

Hi, First timer on this forum, read through all questions but could not find a related Q&A to my problem so hopefully someone can offer some help.
I received a replacement iphone from apple but it is not being recognized by itunes on my macbook. My netbook is picking it up, but I need to restore from my back up files to get all my info back. I have gone through the steps offered by apple support, except uninstalling completely itunes. I tried to download itunes v10 but getting an error "Verification code not recognized". My ipod touch and my wifes iphone are not being picked up either. All worked last week?
Any thoughts?

I forgot to mention that when I tried to sync in Windows 7, I had to authorize my PC as if it were a new computer. Is that unusual?
I also just tried rebooting using Vista. Still won't sync.
Now the message reads: The disk cannot be read from or written to.

Take it to an Apple Store and have it checked out. You could have a hardware issue there if the SIM is not being recognized.

IPhone 3GS: problem with address book changes after 5.0.1 upgrade

I upgrade my and my Wife iPhones 3GS to 5.0.1,
my Wife's one has a big problem:
- in the address book/contact menu disappears + sign (upper right) in order to add or modify contact
I tried to search in some forums, but I didn't find any solution.
I already tried to:
- soft reset
- hard reset
- restore backup
but no way to solve this problem.

My parents are also having that same problem on their mac mini after updating to 10.5.4. Their Mail app is also giving the same error. I'll post back if I find an answer... and if anyone else knows how to resolve this problem, please let us know.

Updating a iPhone 3GS - problems

I have bought an old iPhone 3GS for my daughter and it had no wifi showing. I was advised to do a software update via iTunes however it is now stuck on the iTunes connect / connected page. If i connect to iTunes it scans and then an error message appears on the itunes page saying "sorry we cant continue with your connection at this time"
If i switch the phone off and back on i am still stuck in the itunes set up - can anyone advise me? Before at least it was a working phone with internet connection now it won't do anything!! Thanks

I have an all legit iPhone 3GS 32GB I bought last October in the Netherlands together with my subscription to T-Mobile. Everything went perfect until about 3 weeks ago when my iPhone would loose network connection, stay in "Searching..." limbo forever and end-up with "No Service". I tried everything from resetting my iPhone, my settings, to taking in and out my SIM card, to updating it with iTunes etc… It works for a while if I leave it on “Edge” without activation its 3G. But then, out of nowhere, it will ask me to unlock my SIM card, will freeze and stutter while I’m doing so. I would wait for some time before my iPhone will resume normal service (albeit still on “Edge”), by itself, and repeat this nightmare all over again the next day. I can also find it running iPod all by itself even though the iPhone is on sleep. This iPod "demonic possession" is generally a precursor of troubles to come.
Is my love affair with the iPhone coming to a very sad end? Or can somebody save our relationship? Please help!

I would expect they will not. I got a replacement 3G back in mid October which still had 3.1 or 3.1.1 on it. First time I sync'd it with iTunes in updated to 3.1.2. Phones with 3.1.3 will probably cycle into inventory over time, but I am pretty sure they don't update existing stock.

I have Iphone 3gs and requested official unlock from my provider. They said they did it and all I have to do is connect it with iTunes.
I had ios 3.x and upgraded to 5.1.1 through iTunes.
But now after upgrade, my phone is not unlocked and niether works with original card.
3G network is one second ok, after one second drops to 1 line, and after that I got No network.
I managed to make call, but that call only last for 1 second.

I wouldn't assume that. Don't know anyone who changed carriers without canceling the original. The intermittent connections he describes are typical of SIM card issues.
The point is that your statement that "updating is not enough" is incorrect. When he "updated" to iOS 5, a full restore was already done. If there were errors during that process, restoring again might help, but its not necessary to restore.

My iPhone 3GS battery kind of started to grow big and it bended my circuit board on the phone
when i tryied to turn it on after an year, it would go to the apple logo and restart. i tryed to restore it via itunes and i got error 2001 and, now my iphone turns on with a white screen.
1) is it possible to UNbend my circuit board?
2) is my iphone ever going to work again?
is it possible that if i get a new battery, it will let me connect it to itunes and make it work?
also, even if i connect it to the wall with or without the battery, my screen goes white. is my screen broken suddenly or is it because the famouse white screen of death?

As Apple changed my iPhone in the service, I restored it with itunes and the newest firmware and the latest backup of the device.
But now, my "original" Volkswagen telephone bluetooth adapter (to put in as a dock) is not working anymore. "The phone cannot be charged with this device" it's said. Why Why Why Apple is this so? Before this, everything worked fine
