Replacement iPhone 5 now have problem with carrier unlock

I purchased a new iPhone 5 on release day about year and a half ago from Rogers Wireless. A week later Apple replaced the phone because of a problem with the microphone.
Now I'm trying to buy out my contract with Rogers and pay to have the phone unlocked but they're telling me that the imei of the phone doesn't match the one they have on record.
Rogers can't help unless I can prove that Apple replaced the phone.
Apple won't help over the phone unless I purchase a 1 time service contract for $35.
I can't get into the genius bar at the store that did the swap until next week but I really need this done before the weekend.
I'm really at my wits end with this. Hoping there is someone on here that can help me out.

Call AppleCare back and ask to be transferred to Customer Service then explain the problem to them.

    The passcode settings simply give you the option of having the passcode lock immediately you lock the screen, or after a delay period.  If you set a delay the passcode lock will not activate for the period of the delay.  I have mine set to one minute.  It is a "convenience" measure to save me having to re-enter the passcode if I lock the screen then immediately remember that there was something else I wanted to do.  Obviously this entails a small compromise on security and if you are at all concerned then you should set the passcode to "Immediately".  It really has nothing to do with the camera short-cut (though loads of users seem to have run away with this notion).  It would be the same if you just did "slide to unlock" during the delay period.

  • Upgraded from Tiger to Snow Leopard - now have problems with basic apps?

    I have a 2007 iMac (5.1, 2007) dual core. It's capable of running Snow Leopard and Lion (but not, I believe ML).
    I just bought the upgrade SL discs from Apple and installed them as an upgrade, moving up to 10.6.3 (from the discs). After running software update I'm now on 10.6.8.
    Since upgrading I've successfully run Time Machine. However I have the following problems:-
    A bunch of emails were present in the Inbox, but contained no body text - just the subject line. I have managed to since find most of them successfully from TM. This is a minor annoyance but I thought I'd mention it.
    ITunes won't boot up. It booted the first time I tried it, but since then the little icon just bounces up and down.
    Certain apps won't quit properly. I quit from the top menu, but the little blue light remains under the icon in the dock. I then have to 'Force Quit - Application Not Responding' *every time*.
    Safari frequently won't load up bookmarked or seach pages, the progress bar gets stuck part way across and I stare at the rainbow pinwheel for ages, before having to quit, then Force Quit, then restart Safari and try again.
    Now, I'm tempted to do a Clean Install, but after four international moves (Singapore-Australia-UK-Canada) I no longer have any of the original discs, and thus as I understand it will lose iLife. And iLife 11 needs Lion.
    I've done a disc permissions repair thing via the Mac Disc Utility. I've run a few clean-up operations via Onyx.
    Any suggestions gratefully received. My Mac as been running great for years, but this upgrade has been extremely disappointing thus far.

    Many thanks for your advice. I've read all the links and will be buying a 2nd external HD to do a SuperDuper back up. I already had a 1Tb drive with Maxtor back up on it, and I also managed to get a Time Machine back up as well, so at least my data should be safe.
    Qn - If I back up the System and Utility folders as well as the Home folder, I don't suppose I can restore them after an install and everything (eg iLife) will 'just work'?
    Anyway, I went straight from Tiger to Snow Leopard. I don't have any Tiger discs either (see reasons above) so now have no way of restoring original set up. I tried to boot from the SL install CD and then hold 'C' but must be getting something wrong as I don't get the Disk Utility pop up. It just boots as normal to the desktop.
    Anyway, via the normal Disc Utitlity I've done a Repair Permissions again with no major issues. However, my Onyx software now won't run at all so I can't clean any caches a second time.
    I've contacted the Apple rep who sold be the SL discs but she's not got back to me yet re iLife.
    This weekend I'm going to try a fresh upgrade. If that fails I'll try Erase and Install, if I can get the 'C' button timing right. I'll update if I have any successs.

  • Forced to buy PE6 - now have Problems with it.

    I just bought a new iMac w Panther so I was forced to purchase PE6 (because my old Photoshop won't run on it and I didnt want to pay $700 to upgrade) and am having major problems with it. Specifically, no matter what I do, my Epson scanner driver (or twain) will not show up as an option to import. I've downloaded nice fresh Epson drivers from the internet too - so they're on my computer ready to be read and imported. But they just dont show up!! I know my scanner is compatible because I've used with Photoshop 7 for years. Any advice how to get it to import?!

    Also, Epson has been a sluggard for years writing proper drivers for the Mac, both for their printers and their scanners, which is why I switched to Canon. Evidently the Epson drivers are problematic for Elements 6 running on Leopard on an Intel machine. See Barbara Brundage's comments here:

    I believe that in your comments in another thread you said you got Image Capture to work with the scanner. If that is the case, just use Image Capture to do you scans, save each one and then open the files with Elements to edit.

    You could unplug your router than plug it back in.  You could turn the iPhone completely off and then back on.

    Updated Kaspersky to 15.0.0.463(a) - ( comes with "safe money" - now turned off).
    Updated Firefox from (old) version to 32.0.3.
    Barclays bank site loads properly, and allows access to accounts BUT when I try to look at a statement, Firefox "not responding" and a blank/ unresponsive page is displayed.
    In order to acheive any movement I have to close firefox... this gives rise to windows wanting to send error data, and Firefox apologising for loosing the tab.
    None of which allows me to do essential banking transactions.
    It is this machine that has the problem - I can access without problems via work computer (using google Chrome)

    My guess is that your statement is a PDF document, since banks and other companies often use that format for statements.
    Firefox has various options for viewing PDFs, including a built-in PDF viewer (not as full featured as Adobe's), or the option to use a plugin such as Adobe Acrobat, or to launch the PDF in an external application.     On another subject, your plugin list has various plugins described as "Google Chrome Extension". I haven't seen that before. Could you review the list and see whether they really should be active in Firefox or can be deactivated?
    Open the Add-ons page using either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
    In the left column, click Plugins.
    For those that are not essential, I suggest changing them to "Never Activate". This might not take effect immediately in that window, but should disable them in new windows.

    It would block usage of all the startup keys, like C, N, T, D, CMD+s, CMD+Option+p+r, CMD +v, Option, and Shift, as well as booting from anything but the Hard Drive.

    I dont know what else to say about it. I updated and now all this is happening and it didnt before my update to Firefox5. I have several site I use daily and I have gone in and marked them to allow popups and they just dont work. The sites are My Yearbook...Kia Financeing...and a few more. And also I am finding that I get a no response a lot!

    I am sorry you are not in a position to replace the iPad. It is stating the obvious, but nothing lasts forever - especially something like an original iPad. IMHO, there is nothing you can do to address the issues you have posted about.

  • Downgraded to Leopard from Snow, but now have problems with Library files

    I downgraded to Leopard successfully, everything at this point OS wise is working. However, when I go into mail it is asking me to set up a new account. I can see all the info in the mail folder. Same thing goes with Safari. All the bookmarks and everything are in the Library folder, but they will not show up in when loading Safari. It seems as if the files are all there, but the older versions cannot read the data and thinks it is not there. Didn't SL convert the data the first time it was run? Is there a conversion program to take it back to the 10.5.8 version?

    1. How exactly did you downgrade to Leopard?
    2. Do you have a backup of your data made before you upgraded to Snow Leopard?
    Snow Leopard does convert some data files to a format incompatible with Leopard & Apple does not provide a way to convert it back. This is no problem if you have a backup of the files in their former state (especially a clone of the drive or a Time Machine or similar backup), otherwise it is difficult to impossible, depending on the data type.

    My computer got stolen, so I set up an interim solution where I installed the Creative Suite. Now I have a new computer but I am getting activation error messages for the Creative Suite on it.
    How can I deactivate the instance from my stolen computer? I would not like to deactivate the instance on te interim solution until all is working properly on my new one.
    I have a police report about the theft.
