Replacement iPhone syncing trouble

Hi,
I just got my iPhone replaced at the apple store and now the new iPhone doesn't connect to the iTunes store. The new phone shows up on the left of iTunes and I see the "Accessing iTunes Store" mesg on the top. However, after a while I get an error message reading " We could not complete your iTunes store request. The iTunes store is currently unavailable, please try again later ". How can I get the phone restored with my old phone's info (i.e contacts etc)
Cheers.

The activation service is definitely down. This problem occurs periodically, and has for a looong time even with doing stuff with the iPod before the iPhone started using iTunes' online services. In the past, it usually is back up within a couple of hours. But don't fight with your firewall, anti-virus, etc. in the meantime because it won't help....

  • I can't sync/back up iPhone data to my computer b/c iPhone screen is shattered and i cant unlock it to enter in my passcode. How can I sync my broken iPhone with my computer and back up my data so I can sync and transfer the data to my replacement iPhone?

I can't sync my iPhone and back up my data with my computer because iTunes says to enter the passcode into my iPhone to unlock it, but I am unable to unlock and enter in my passcode on my iPhone because the screen is shattered. I have my replacement iPhone with me and I'm not going to activate it until I can sync/get the data from my broken iPhone. I have the envelope to send my broken iPhone back to the Verizon store or whatever so that's not a problem. I just can't sync my old iPhone with my computer.
    Thanks.

No I haven't synced my iPhone with the computer I'm currently using. The computer that I normally sync my iPhone with is being repaired.
I read a nearly identical question to mine (in which you answered) and I found my the answer. Thanks!
Now I have a few more questions: If I mail my broken iPhone to Asurion, will I be able to get my data off of my iPhone once Asurion has it? And what will happen to my old iPhone and the data on it if I activate my replacement iPhone? Will my broken iPhone just become de-activated and will the data be erased or lost or something? Could I still sync it (with the computer ir originally synced with) and back up the data?
    Thanks.

  • I had my ipod touch and iphone synced to itunes on my computer that just bit the dust...If I don't replace the computer, can I still add stuff to these two devices?

I had my ipod touch and iphone synced to itunes on my PC and basically managed my photos and music, etc. from there.  However recently my computer died and I am considering replacing it with an ipad eventually.  Can I still add stuff onto my two devices?  And if so, am I limited to apple store purchases only?  Can I retain all the photos and non-apple store downloaded music that is presently on these two devices?  Any guidance in this area will be very welcome!

    Morning @mb,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Trouble with Iphone syncing

My Iphone has trouble syncing. Its a hand-me down phone from another friend. I cannot sync my Iphone to another computer and when I try to sync with wifi, it says it is not able to sync and sync would resume when my "friends-pc" is available. The device isnt shown in the itunes sidebar either

Have you restored the iPhone once in your possession?  Since it was synced on your friends computer wifi syncing will also be looking for that computer.
As for the device not showing up in iTunes try the Assistant.

  • I recently got a replacement iPhone and when syncing it I found I lost all my downloaded music in my iPod, can I get it back?

I recently got a replacement iPhone and when syncing it I found I lost all my downloaded music in my iPod, can I get it back?

I lost all content on my ipod after connecting it to a new computer. I had brought my iTunes library over from the old computer and had the most recent iTunes installed, but iTunes didn't see the ipod. Long & short of it is I worked with Apple support, finally was able to restore the ipod and everything looked like it was syncing normally. When I ejected the ipod there was no content on it at all. After trying several times unsuccessfully to get it reloaded and another session with Apple support, they suggested the ipod was damaged. Since it was working fine up till that point I doubted that. I then thought it might be the iTunes library that was corrupt so I checked that. (It's fine.) So I found an ipod repair place (authorized Apple dealer) and when I called them they found that it appears to be an issue with iTunes software itself and pretty much said I have to wait for an update to fix the issue. So I did everything you're supposed to do & it messed up my ipod. Now iTunes doesn't recognize thje ipod again!

  • Replaced iphone 3Gs will not sync with itunes

Hi, First timer on this forum, read through all questions but could not find a related Q&A to my problem so hopefully someone can offer some help.
I received a replacement iphone from apple but it is not being recognized by itunes on my macbook. My netbook is picking it up, but I need to restore from my back up files to get all my info back. I have gone through the steps offered by apple support, except uninstalling completely itunes. I tried to download itunes v10 but getting an error "Verification code not recognized". My ipod touch and my wifes iphone are not being picked up either. All worked last week?
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks.

I forgot to mention that when I tried to sync in Windows 7, I had to authorize my PC as if it were a new computer. Is that unusual?
I also just tried rebooting using Vista. Still won't sync.
Now the message reads: The disk cannot be read from or written to.

  • My new (replacement) iPhone will not sync with iTunes on my Macbook.

My old (two weeks old, replacement of an old broken one) iPhone sync'd just fine, but kept going off. The new one will not sync at all, nor will it save my email passwords. Any clues?

Did you try to set it up as new device, without using the latest backup, in case it contains corrupt data?

  • Replacement iPhone will not sync with existing library on external HD

I had an iPhone, and all of my music is on an external hard drive. Everything synced and worked great, no problems. However, the Apple store just replaced my iPhone on a warranty issue, and now my iPhone will not sync with my itunes. Itunes and my external hard drive work great, but the minute i plug in my new replacement iPhone, it instantly crashes my external hard drive and will not sync any of my music. Ideas?

    Hi,
The issue might be caused by the USB connection. Try directly connecting both devices to a high-speed USB2 port on the PC.
This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1286 provides additional USB troubleshooting tips.
Also, make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed on your PC.

  • Replacement phone synced every photo in I photo to My Iphone

I Had to get a new phone and when I synced it for the first time it put all 750+ photos in I Photo onto my phone and I do not see a way to delete these albums. I want to send photos from my phone to my mac but not the other way around. I am new to both the Iphone and MAC so any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you

    Garbage in = Garbage Out.
This is selected under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes, which can't be selected by itself. Under the photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes when transferring photos to your iPhone from iPhoto, the options are:
    All photos, albums, and faces.
    Selected albums, events, and faces.
You selected all photos, albums, and faces.
To remove all photos transferred from your Mac to your iPhone from iPhoto, deselect Sync Photos under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes, select Apply followed by a sync, which will remove all the photos from your iPhone.
You may want to transfer selected photos from iPhoto to your iPhone.
You can use iPhoto to import photos and video captured by your iPhone - imported from your iPhone's Camera Roll, but not a good idea to leave the imported photos and/or video on your iPhone after the import process is complete. iPhoto includes an option to delete imported photos and/or video from a digital camera after the import process is complete.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3603
I always delete all photos from my iPhone's Camera Roll after the import process is complete by iPhoto, which I do with iPhoto after importing photos from any other digital camera. I make use of iPhoto albums for select photos after being imported. If I want any of photos imported from my iPhone's Camera Roll available on my iPhone for viewing, I select the iPhoto album or Event under the Photos tab for my iPhone sync preferences with selected albums, events, and faces chosen followed by a sync. To remove an album or event from my iPhone, I deselect the album or event under the Photos tab for my iPhone sync preferences followed by a sync.

  • HT1296 replacement iphone does not show up on itunes and i cannot sync

replacement iphone does not show up on itunes and I cannot sync

You can't have an iMac PPC (PowerPC) if you loaded Snow Leopard.  iMac Intel are the only Macs that are compatible with 10.6.   So the first thing wrong you are doing is posting in the wrong forum, or giving us misinformation.
Go to Apple menu -> About This Mac to find out exactly what you are running.  A G5 is a PowerPC.  Intel is Intel.
Also look at the operating system in that window and update your profile.
What version of iTunes do you have?
Has the iPad ever shown before on this machine?   Once we have your correct info, I'll ask a moderator move this thread.

  • The Endless Battle With Iphone Syncing

I've been having nothing but problems syncing my reasonably new iPhone with my contacts. When I first got it, I immediately entered contact info into the iPhone itself.
I put in some numbers, some names, a couple pictures for my contacts. Then when I first synced the phone, I got an error message that iTunes couldn't sync the phone with my contacts because an error occurred while merging data.
Through some experimentation, I found that I could sync the iPhone to my addressbook as long as there were no pictures in the contacts. If I tried to put a picture in a contact on the computer, it just wouldn't transfer to the phone. If I tried to put a picture on the phone, I would get an error message when trying to sync to the computer.
I tried all of the regular fixes, i.e. resetting iSync, reinstalling iTunes, trashing and rebuilding AddressBook. Nothing seemed to work. Fed up, I completely reinstalled Mac OS from my restore discs. After a lot of work and trouble, I finally had my iPhone syncing contacts back and forth with my computer, including pictures. For a week.
    Until last night.
For some inexplicable reason, it just stopped. I plugged in my phone to sync, went to do something, and came back to see the dreaded popup error message about not being able to merge data. So my first instinct was to use the option to replace the contacts on the phone with the ones on the computer. In a terrible turn of events, all that did was completely erase every contact on my phone. So at this point I can't even tell who's calling me or who I'm calling without looking up their number on my computer's addressbook.
As an experiment, I made a dummy contact entry on the phone with a gibberish name and synced the phone. The contacts on the phone and computer stayed the same. I deleted the contact on the phone, and again synced to the computer using the 'replace all' option. It came back. The gibberish entry came back to my phone after I deleted it. Is it saved somewhere on my computer? Is there some secret addressbook list other than the information stored in /Library/Application Support/Address Book that iTunes ACTUALLY syncs to? I'm at my wits end here. I just want a phone that will WORK without me living in fear of doing destructive restores on my computer every week.
God, if ANYONE could help me with this it would be miraculous. I haven't found any reports of problems exactly like this, but I've found some that are similar. As I said, I tried the usual remedies like resetting iSync preferences and reinstalling iTunes, but I can't get anything to work. I've restored my phone probably a dozen times and my computer half as much. This is frustrating to no end.

I too have been fighting the same issues. Sometimes synch works and sometimes it doesn't. It is an endless process - the synch function can run for hours and never complete. I have re-installed iTunes dozens of times and have spent - to date - over 32 hours on the phone with apple support - I have two product specialists looking into it. The first three phone folks basically could do nothing - one even suggested that iPhones will not synch with Outlook 2003....the product specialists have been unable to help. I have replaced t he phone thru a warranty exchange at the store - and still nothing. When it does work it's great and then I dont synch for a day or two it loses all connectivity and will not synch. I also canot ustilize exchange....it will not recognize our network and I have had some of the best IT folks in the country try to synch it to an exchange server. I have a number of friends having the same issues - Apple has really dropped the ball on this one....it's back to a Blackberry for me.

  • My photos on my replacement iphone won't download from icloud

I had to get my iPhone 4s replaced & before going to the Apple Store, I did an iCloud backup. When I got my replacement iPhone, everything was transferred onto the new phone. When I went home, my pictures said "downloading". (I only had 366 photos) So I let my phone sit for a few hours, thinking the pictures would download. Well, they never did and my phone has been saying "downloading" on my pictures for 6 days now. Does anybody know what to do and could help me?

    Hello Kteko,
Connecting your iPhone to a power source and connecting to a Wi-Fi network can help complete the process.
After your settings and accounts are restored, your device restarts and begins downloading your purchased music, movies, TV shows, apps, books, Camera Roll, and other content. You can use your device normally during this time, but if you receive an alert or are having trouble completing the restore, connect your device to a power source and make sure that it's connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi. Then wait until your device is restored to use it.

  • IPhone sync no longer works properly

Hi Not sure what's gone wrong but syncing my iCal with my iPhone 3GS has always worked fine until the last week or so. Now any events I enter on my phone do not show in iCal on my Mac. Plus I am getting more than one copy of an event on my phone - in different calendar colours? I've even tried replacing iphone data with my Mac's data but this does not appear to make any difference?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions,
Does the information added to the Mac show up on the Phone? If so this is probably an issue with the phone's calendar database and I would suggest posting in the iPhone forum: http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=201
Issues with iPhones can often be resolved by updating or restoring: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
    Hope that helps.

  • I have restored my new replacement iPhone 5s from my latest iCloud back up. However my camera roll pictures are not displaying. Its not saying i don't have any pictures, it just shows empty white squares? How do I get my pictures back? Thanks!

I have restored my new replacement iPhone from my latest iCloud back up. However my camera roll pictures are not displaying. Its not saying I don't have any pictures in my camera roll, it has all the spaces for them, but it just shows empty white squares? How do I get my pictures back? Thanks!

It's difficult to say whether it's stuck or not as the time to restore a backup can depend on many factors.  You'll have to decide when you think it's just not continuing.  You could try turning the phone off (hold the power button until you see the red off slider, then slide to turn off), then back on to see if that would get it going again.
When you're convinced it's just hung, you can go back to settings and tap Stop Restoring iPhone to stop the restore.  You'll then have to try restoring it again (Settings>General>Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings, go through the setup screens and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup).  Be sure it's connected to your charger and wifi while it's restoring the backup.
You might also try the approach posted here by ezjules: https://discussions.apple.com/message/19518589#19518589.  This seems to have worked for some people who had trouble restoring their photos from an iCloud backup.
