Replacement iPhone will not sync with existing library on external HD

I had an iPhone, and all of my music is on an external hard drive. Everything synced and worked great, no problems. However, the Apple store just replaced my iPhone on a warranty issue, and now my iPhone will not sync with my itunes. Itunes and my external hard drive work great, but the minute i plug in my new replacement iPhone, it instantly crashes my external hard drive and will not sync any of my music. Ideas?

The issue might be caused by the USB connection. Try directly connecting both devices to a high-speed USB2 port on the PC.

I followed the instructions in those 2 articles. Still not able to see the device in ITunes. I reinstalled the latest iTunes and all updates to my iMac (Mac OSX ver 10.6.8). I tried 3 different USB Cables in different USB ports. Rebooting both the Iphone and IMac. Still nothing seems to be working. I searched the discussion boards and I see other people with the same problem but they seem to run into the same problems finding a solution. Are you signed into iTunes on the computer with the same Apple ID the apps in question were "purchased" with? Is the computer authorized for that account?

Tried that but did not work. Thank you for the reply. However, I did find the correct thing to do though so wanted to share.
Since on my computer I had to create a new admin account, I had to go into the shortcut properties of Itunes. Then hit Compatibility Tab. Had to check Run as Admin.
After hitting Change settings for all users it worked just fine.

I have the generation 1 ipod touch and today I was syncing it to my library and the error code (13019) came up. My ipod will not sync to my library. I have tried the unchecking the sync button on my library and I restored it. So now the error is still occurring and my ipod has no music.

I, too, updated to ios 7.0.6 and immediately couldn't synch music to my iPhone. I erased the phone twice and ended up in a loop and couldn't even boot, just the Apple logo over and over. This worked for me:
Hold down the home button (on the front) simultaneously with the button on the top. After 10-15 seconds the Apple log appears again and loads IOS slowly. Once was loaded, my music was back. Annoyingly, it only seems to update from the cloud.
At least my iPhone works now.
I can't believe Apple didn't catch this before they screwed up their customers.

did you check the sync iCal option in the iTunes (iPhone) sync tab?
If you did and that doesn't work. Try this....
1) Open Disk Utilities on your mac and run 'Repair Disk Permissions' on your hard drive
2) Restart your mac.
3) try again. If it still doesn't work, try resettin the iPhone. Try again.
4) If the above doesn't work. Try RESTORING your iPhone via iTunes. That may work.
