Replacement issue file

If you've ever noticed that when you're box has completed its boot sequence, it clears the screen? Or that little line that says "ArchLinux 0.7 (blah)..." right before you login. Well that is replacable and I've made a custom color issue file to match the way the init scripts colors look:

Just replace your /etc/issue with this one and log in and out on your virtual consoles to see the difference. You can also cat the file to your term to see it.

The folks at the Genius Bar would be the ones who would determine if your phone will be replaced under warranty. You would not be bothering them by making an appointment. It's what they are there for. The appointment itself won't cost you anything.

Find and replace in files does not refresh when changes are made

Using RH10, I search for a term with the Find and Replace Options pod. I use the Find Results list as a reference only, and open each file from the Topic List. I do this instead of opening the topics from the Find Results tab because I want to see the WYSIWYG changes. Anyway, I make my edits and delete the search term from each topic. Then, to make sure I have done all the work, I run the search again. I expect to see no or at least fewer matches than before, but I still get some or all of the same results as before, even though I double-check the Design and HTML views of the topics and even check the source of a topic separately in Notepad, all indicating that the search term is gone from the topic.
There is some ridiculous lingering or echo going on. I make sure to select Look in: <Current Project>, and the paths of all the Find Results files are fine. How do you refresh the search so that this echo doesn't occur?
Also, I close the Find and Replace Options pod, reopen it and start the search again, and the same results are there.

To avoid the message about the file being modified, close all topics in the editor before commencing with any find and replace operations. The message is produced because you have the aforementioned topics open in the editor.
As you mention "Find and replace in files", I'm guessing you are referring to version 8. I just opened version 8 and performed a find and replace to confirm. There is a button allowing you to clear all.
On the clicking and dragging to create a link, it's never worked that way. You simply cannot drag from the Topic List pod to do it. But you can from the Project Manager pod. Perhaps you should consider submitting a Wish Form to ask for the ability to click and drag from the Topic List pod to create links.
As far as rearranging your topics into different folders, as long as you do it from inside RoboHelp you shouldn't be destroying any links. RoboHelp will update references for you as you move things around. The only issue is if you are automatically creating your TOC structure based on the project structure. But usually that's a one time shot. From there forward you just manage things using the TOC editor.

Need to replace a file in the application server

Hello Experts,
Through ABAP coding, I need to replace a file which is available in the application server from one path to another. I should not use OPEN DATASET, CLOSE DATASET, DELETE DATASET and all as they deal with the data. I need to replace the file with out touching the data of the file.
Could anyone please help.
I heard that i have to use some UNIX script.

Question about replacing corrupted file in windows 7

hi,
I read in windows 7 bible that if a system file is corrupted , I can replace it with system recovery tool (at command prompt) if I have onother computer with windows 7 installed.
my question is here , if I replace any file with copy the file from computer to dvd and replac it on my computer , does the windows version must be the same for 64 bit or it doesn't a matter.

Yes, the version must be the same. You may be able to get a known good copy of the system file from another computer that is
running the same version of Windows with your computer. For different versions there may be different configuration settings in the files that you operating on which if replaced with the wrong version might cause new issues.

WPF Crystal report throws an exception when user tries to replace a file which is open during export of report.

I am using the latest version of crystal report CRforVS_13_0_10 with Visual Studio 2013.
I am working a WPF application and using the WPF crystalreportviewer control.
The steps to reproduce the exception is ,
1) Create a report.
2) Export report with sample.xls as file name
3) Now open the sample.xls file in Excel
4) Again export the report with sample.xls as file name
5) There is dialog which asks "Do you want to replace existing file sample.xls"
6)Click "Yes"
7) Now the exception will be thrown.
This is System.IO.IOException which is thrown by crystal report when user tries to save the file which is already opened by user. Also there is no event provided to handle Export_click for WPF CrystalReportViewer where I can handle this.

I can replicate the issue. Not sure how we can hook into the System.IO process to capture the exception. I have not played with that part yet...
I created my own export button and wrapped it in a try/catch and this is what I get:

We'll have to do more testing to see how or if System IO errors can caught outside of CR.

Replace in Files

Great idea, being able to search and replace across multiple files. I have the JDev 10g Preview, and when I try to search, I always get two copies of every "hit". When I bravely replace across multiple files, it seems to eat twice the length of the found string, so that there are weird artifacts at every replacement site, and if it weren't for the cool "History" tab, I'd have had to remember what went into those missing lines.
Besides that, and looooong stalls (Garbage collection? It helped some to jump up the memory to 512M - is the default really still 128M?), this is a great IDE. It looks good, and I'm really looking forward to the full release.

How to Edit and Replace Psd Files in Adobe Flash - Help!

Hi Everyone,
I am new to flash and I am trying to build my first flash site using a flash template. I can use flash to edit certain components like header text, etc. But The content is impossible for me to change. I think that these are psd files, which I can open with gimp or another program and edit. I save and replace that file, but when I view movie again, the content is the same. I guess what I need to know is how to get these files back into my flash movie after I have edited them. Please help, I am no computer expert, but I am learning. A how to for dummies answer would be awesome.

I move the one on my desktop (wrong file) into the solitarie file and was asked if I wanted to replace the graphics file in the solitarie folder (the correct one). I said yes accidently and then remembered that I had made a mistake. If I use undo, it only move the wrong file back to the desktop. Is there an undo of replace?

Sorry, but's that's why you get the warning. "Replace" means just that - the new file over-writes the old one. There is no undo.

How do you fix error message "data rate for this file is too high for DVD. You must replace this file with one of a lower data rate".

When trying to burn a DVD it will go through the encoding step and at 98% we see the message 'data rate for this file is too high for DVD. You must replace this file with one of a lower data rate". We need help to correct this so we can complete burning to DVD.

What did you export from Premiere?
Did you use the MPEG2-DVD preset... and did you make any changes to the preset?

Replace a file which has a specific ID with another one

How can I select the file I want to replace using the ID field?
For example, when I update a regular List Item, I use

Hi,
Per my understanding, you might want to replace the file in a library with other associated fields preserved using JavaScript Client Object Model.
There seems no direct way can achieve what you want, as a workaround, you can upload the new file into this library, get the values of the associated fields from a
specific item and populate them in the current item, then delete the original file from this library.
By doing this, the original file will be deleted, a new file with the same properties will appear with a new ID.

Bypassing the replace prompt when replacing a file that already exits

I want to bypass the "replace prompt" when replacing the file I know already exits. In the program when I ask it to replace 1 file I know it needs to replace several other different files. I just want one original promt to replace the file and all other to be bypassed and just have the program replace the file without a promp. The program uses several "write characters to file" vi and several write to spreedsheet file" vi.

you can edit the write to spreadsheet and write characters nodes, they are plain VIs.
Now simply wire a False diagram constant to the advisory dialog input of the open/create/replace node in each of the two mentioned VIs. Giive them a different icon (e.g. change the background color) and save them under a new name elsewhere. Save them in user.lib and they'll even show up in the user palette.

How to replace event file AND replace edits in timeline

Is it possible to replace a video/file in an event, and in turn replace what it was used for in the timeline? For example, if I used some footage from an event and I cut i up 3 times in a project and added transitions and effects, is it possible to replace the file in the event with a new file (same length) and have the same cuts/transitions/effects applied to the new file in the timeline?
I hope my question is clear. I've been trying to do this in the original media folder but with no luck.

hit cmd-c in the Project to copy the clip('s settings)
select the new clip in the Event
drag on old clip, select one of the replace-options

Yeah I've learned that the hard way. I'll probably never do that again. Anyways, I didn't think about copying the clips settings. That definently works. I guess what I was looking for (or dreaming of) was some kind of automatic way. In After Effects and I believe premiere, you can right-click on a file in the "Event" folder and it will replace it the project as well automatically. I don't think anything like this exists for FCP however. I'm pretty sure the only way would to wait for apple to add something like this, or create some kind of script/plugin/automater. Any ideas?

How to replace a file in an archive without extracting?

Hello, I need to open up an archive and replace one file with the other. As archive file is and actual .ipa file (I'm just changing its type), I don't want to extract it and then re-zip it and rename it to .ipa.
It's beyond simpleness on Windows OS, but on a Mac you can only see content of an archive and extract any chosen one, but not replacing it directly.
Maybe there are simple terminal commands to do so?
