Replacement items

I have a case where an item needs to be replaced after it has been returned by the customer. How can I carry out this transaction in Apps without creating a new SO(and of course, without creating a credit memo) after the return order?

Fine. Let me put the question differently. If the item which has been sold to the customer is found to be damaged, then I don't need a RMA. In this case,can I add a new line to the original SO?
This requirement is critical because my client is in the cement business, and cement can get unusuable for many reasons. So, it is not rare that cement is found to be in an unusable condtion after reaching the customer, whatever the cause may be. Given this scenario, it'll be tough for him to create a new SO(and thereby,keep track of a different SO number) every time this happens.

Best way to post a Return Item and Enter a Different Replacement Item

Hi MM Gurus,
During data migration, I uploaded an item (let's call it Material A) in inventory. The old purchase order for this item was not included in the migration. After the go-live phase, purchasing discovers that they have to RETURN Material A to the original vendor. As additional info, Material A will be replaced and is fully invoiced and fully paid.
As mentioned, the vendor now will send a DIFFERENT replacement item (Material B) instead of the old material (Material A) which is acceptable to the client.
For the solution, I'm thinking to just reverse the initial upload of Material A (do a 562) and when Material B arrives, I'll do a 561. Would this be ok?
Do you have any other ideas/best practices? Can you share a better way on how to process this in the system? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi Marvin,
I would think that whether it is OK or not will depend upon the view of the accounting department as using 561 and 562 will post to specific stock accounts which they will need to approve.
Also, you would need to make sure that the valuation of the materials is the same to avoid getting differences posting during the process.
You could try doing a return delivery (122) to remove the stock and then a 501 receipt into stock of the new material.
This will all be about the accounts to be posted to and also the document trail that you want to leave.
Another method would be to do a physical inventory against the material A and Material B, reducing the quantity of A to Zero and increasing Material B by the amount of A written off. So long as valuation is the same, then the differences, once posted, will net off. This will not however produce any paperwork or register that the goods have been returned to the vendor.

Are you sure you want to entirely replaced the dashboard? If you're on 4.5 you can enhance allot of the RPM dashboard in the WD component /RPM/UI_DASHBOARD.
You still have to fill the RPM cache object if you want to use the detail iViews for example Element Details.
What exactly do you want to achieve?

Find & Replace Item in BOM

We have to update a child item that appears in many different BOM. Is there a way to locate the child item in all BOM's? Also, is there a way to locate/find and replace the child or update its qty as in this instance? I am not comfortable writting querys yet...any ideas would be extremely helpful!

Enter rate / EUR rate type M - Replace item with MDM 3.0 catalog item

Hello,
Up on importing a requested item with an MDM 3.0 catalog item via the 'replace with calog item' functionality we're getting the following error:
Enter rate / EUR rate type M for dd.mm.yyyy in system settings
The from and to currency are both EUR. I first of all don't get it why anything related to exchange rates is happening here.
Edit: I've investigated the problem a little more and it seems like the MDM currency mapping is not correctly set-up. The currency value maintained in MDM seems not to be taken into account when importing to SRM.
Anybody knows how to (pre-)view the OCI mappings from MDM > SRM?

I knew and had already checked that place. But what I actually ment is how can i see the MDM filling for f.e. NEW_ITEM-CURRENCY. I would like to know whether MDM is actually providing the NEW_ITEM-CURRENCY.
The field NEW_ITEM-CURRENCY for our repository is mapped with Price Information-Currency. This should suffice but it isn't.
I've tested the following: defaulting my users Local Currency to USD instead of EUR in the PPOMA_BBP attribute -> add MDM catalogi item in SC -> Currency is USD. While MDM currency is EUR. It's not mapped/read..
The field Price Information-Currency in MDM Data Manager contains as far as i can see value: EUR.

Replacing items in the display list

I have a series of objects in a display, half of which have to be updated regularly. The items are originally added to the display list in pairs and are of 2 different types. My display list look like this:

object2
object1
object2
object1
object2
To update the display list, I delete half of the objects, so my list now looks like this:
object1
object1
object1
I now want to add the updated objects to the list, but doing so makes the list look like this so the objects no longer alternate:
object1
object1
object1
object2
object2
object2
Is there a better way to think about deleting and adding objects to the display list so I can maintain my alternating list?

So, you mean to say that the objects will be displayed one after the other? just like a list? if so, go with list with itemrenderers, ArrayCollection + filters / sorting. All you do is maintain the data in a order, the list wil take care of displaying the itemrendderers .. this way it is more maintainable and scalable.

Website does not add items to cart, instead replaces items so there is always the latest item in cart

I had problems adding to this cart - that was resolved by clearing history. Now I can add items to cart but cannot update cart with additional items. the item in the cart are replaced

I've had the same 5002 error for 3 days: "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (5002). There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later."
However, I WAS able to purchase songs after I changed Preferences from Shopping Cart option to 1-Click Purchase.
I know that my Shopping Cart is FULL - (basically used as a pending wish list). Perhaps this is one problem with the iTunes Store. Fortunately, I printed a list of my Shopping Cart several weeks ago.
I'm going to try deleting and re-installing. Any more ideas would be welcome.

CS repair with new item replacement

We have this scenario and would like to know how we will handle using the repair process.
The customer returns an item for repair, and upon checking, the material cannot be repaired longer.
The material has to be scrapped and a replacement item will have to be send back to the customer.
Our process steps are:
1> Create Repair Order & PGR serviceable material.
2> Service Order created.
3> Scrap material (via MB1a/migo?)
4> Need to prepare new item for replacement.
     *How do we prodcue and PGR the new item? Can it be done via the Service order? (IW32/IW41)?
          Or should we use PP Order? (to record service cost, parts used, etc..)
5> Ship replacement goods to customer
     *How do we send the replacement item? Can we use the same repair order#?
Please advise on items 4 & 5.

Once you create a Service order from Repair order, a repair Item ( assume a line item with item category IRRP ) is created
if you want to scrap the material, then you have to do MB1A with Movement type to cost center
then system will allow you to scrap
Now you have to do TECO in which you will get a message from Service order as Material will be scrapped
Now the stock lies with the Repair order as Sales order stock which is ready to scrap
you have to manually scrap from Repair order using MB1A with movement type 551 E
now you will see material quantity as Scrapped
please follow above steps for scrapping from repair order

Find and replace with multiple files and with a watch folder

I am trying to create a watch folder that uses red_menace script to:
1. Have a folder that receives multiple xml files that run the script one by one.
2. then move the files to an output folder.
I tried modifying the set TheFIle to choose file -- the original text file to:
with multiple selections allowed
But that doesn't seem to work. I know i'm missing a step. Any help is much appreciated!

The way i'd like to setup things is having an input folder on the desktop (or just have the application on the desktop and I can drag the files onto it), and let it do it's thing. Once it's done have it export the xml files into an output folder.

When you use the open or adding folder items to handlers, you need to add the parameters for the file items passed to them.

Is it possible to spellcheck items in iCal

I cannot find a way to spellcheck (and fix) items that I've misspelled (and copied over and over) throughout my calendar. The contextual menu items in "Spelling & Grammar" do nothing. Does anyone know of a way to find/replace items that are misspelled?

You can't really filter properties from a specific class such as lists to specific users. You could create request offerings that use templates with the specific list item selected but they could sill change the selection if they wanted to.

Calendar displays different items in list vs day/month view

I have a strange problem. When viewing my Calendar items in List view, the items are all wrong for the day. But in Day & Month view they are correct.
I have tried resetting my sync history, and also removing all items, then checking the replacing items on ipod with Outlook calendar box, but it didn't fix it. It was correct until this last sync.
Any help would be appreciated.

I figured out how to fix it so it displays the same events, no matter the view, but I can't tell you why it works. Maybe someone else can? So in case anyone else gets this, here's what you do:
With Calendar open, click on Calendar in the upper left corner. Deselect Birthdays so only Calendar has a check by it.
For some reason, that fixes it.

What line type should I use for a)Return with no credit, and b) for the corresponding replacement item(ship-only workflow)? Can I put these 2 lines in the same SO?

You can assign Multiple Sales Order Line Types to an Order Type inturn which helps you to create different Sales Order Lines like Shipping Line, RMA Line..etc in a single Sales Order.

How to send replacements in Repair Order in SAP CS

Dear CS Experts,
We have a scenario where in we need to send replacements before repairing the returned goods. I have maintained the Repair Procedure as below and maintained all the item category customizings. But when I try to add this manual step of "Send Replacement", the system is not creating a replacement item for the outbound delivery.
I tried to automate this step by setting the "Automatic" flag, then the replacement item is generated by default. But then the system is not determining that this item is Delivery relevant. I had maintained all delivery relevant settings and also the copy control settings for delivery. Still I get an error saying that there are no delivery relevant item.
So I was just wondering how can we send replacements after the initial step of repair goods receipt. Any help is highly appreciated.
Send Replacement will actually create a Outbound Delivery item or it has to be achieved using a different movement type. Please help!!!!

Dear CS Experts,
I think I have sorted out the issue.
I changed the Repair Procedure as below.
1. I create a Repair Order and enter 4 goods to be returned.
2. I want to send 1 replacement item.
So I add this manual step in the repair scheme for 1 item to be replaced.
3. So the replacement item is created. The mistake I was doing initially was that - I was trying to do this manual activity after the return delivery. After return delivery, the repair procedure has already gone to the next step of Start Repair. Hence this replacement FLAG was not showing.
4. Now I do the return delivery of the 4 goods.
5. I trigger the outbound delivery of the replacement item. The issue with the Outbound Delivery before was that - I have not assigned the correct Schedule Line Category to the replacement item category. I assigned the correct Scheduled Line Category as IA. Now the system allowed me to create outbound delivery without any issue.
In the outbound delivery I mention from which storage location this replacement item should be picked from.
6. After the outbound delivery of the Replacement Item - now I see the correct figures in the Repair Scheme.
From now I can proceed with the other steps successfully.
So to summarize - these are the steps which needs to be checked for Replacement Item Delivery
A. The Replacement Item Category should have the Scheduled Line Category IA assigned.
B. Adding the Replacement Step should be done before the Returns Delivery (with the repair procedure settings which I had).
I could sort out the issue now with the above two settings. I hope this could be helpful for others who are trying to sort out the same issue.

Item swap

Hi everyone,
I have client into distribution of mobile phone. it's very important for them to capture the IMEI No. and they are using FIFO. they are selling their items to a Distributor but if there's problem with the phone they accept it from the end customer.
How to handle in SBO the swapping of item if for example end customer returned faulty/damaged item and need to be replaced by a new item. This item will then be returned to the supplier for repair but most of the time their supplier will just give them rebates instead.
I would like to ask what's the best practice to handle this scenario taking into consideration the following:
> client wants to link the IMEI No of the faulty/damaged item to the new item.
> the swapping is done at once at the store level.
> they have schedule date for all returns to the supplier ( twice a month)
I was wondering if i can use the service call so there will only be one screen for the user. Create new document for return in the expense tab and then delivery document for the new item. is this the right thing to do? What will be the impact in my costing? and how am i going to handle the rebates?

case 1
normal process ,
1)Bring back , to be repaired item from customer
2)Send replacement/Loan item to customer
3)repair the item from step 1 and return back the item
4)bring back again replacement/loan item from customer its fine for me
perfect working
case 2
1)Bring back , to be repaired item from customer
2)send a replacement item which is nothing but swap item
3) Repair the iten from step 1 and move to warehouse
for case one is that any special configuration needed
or just do only steps and do billing , does billing will be correct
