Replacement itouch

hi,
i gave my itouch in to be repaired because the wi-fi and the on/off switch were not working. i have now been told i am getting a replacement itouch instead of my own one back. Will i loose all my songs and videos in my library or how do i go about transferring all my library on to my new itouch?

If your defective iPod Touch had the same library synced from your iTunes, wouldn't you simply be able to sync this new iPod Touch with your iTunes library? I believe when you open iTunes, go to Preferences, then select the iPod/iPhone tab at the top and tell it to sync with this new iPod. That might have something to do with this issue.

  • Replacement iTouch e-mail loading unreliable. Followed all troubleshooting instructions. Any ideas?

    Hi folks,
Got a replacement iTouch for a two-year old that had an unrelated hardware issue. 3rd generation I believe. Version is 4.3.5. Everything from old one reloaded fine, but have found that the e-mail sometimes loads, sometimes doesn't. When it doesn't, it either perpetually searches for new mail, or sometimes gives the following message:
The mail server ''imap.gmail.com'' is not responding. Verify that you have entered the correct account info in Mail settings.
Could not find anything online that directly addresses this message. Went through all of Apple's instructions (reloading account, ensuring IMAP is enabled, etc) with no success. Safari connection is unaffected.
Everything was hunky-dory with the previous one for e-mail. What's the deal with my new iTouch? Your time is appreciated.
    Cheers,
    M

You can try deleting the mail account from the iPod and recreating it.  However, I suspect there is a problem with your network or Gmail.

  • Replaced Itouch 2nd generation LCD and now it won't charge

Hi everyone and thank you for the warm welcome to the forum!
I feel bad but i have to ask for help already
I recently purchased a 2G itouch from my friend because half of the LCD didnt work and he got a new one
I ordered the replacement LCD and it arrived and while attempting to take the front panel/digitizer off, none of the clips would pop so out of frustration i basically just pryed it open, breaking the panel/digitizer
This wasn't an issue for me, however, because there were a few scratches on the front that I wanted to see gone anyway so no sweat
Later, though, I continued disassembly and while unattaching the LCD ribbon, I managed to clip the home button conductor (the actual button beneath the panel button) and it came off. Nothing is wron with it except that it is no longer in place
Through all this dismay, I managed to keep my composure because I got the new LCD installed and I plugged it into my computer and it powered up with a very crisp, beautiful display. But once again, that wasn't the end of it. After unplugging it a few times, it now wont read that it is charging, or that it is plugged in at all for that matter. I know the cable and usb port are both good because I attached a co-workers itouch and it charged just fine.
I guess through all of this, I have 2 main questions:
    1) Can I solder the Home button conductor back onto the place where it belongs? (I can see the part on the board where it attaches)
    2) Is there any possible explaination as to why it wont charge now, other than my awesome luck may have made the dock connector happen to go bad at that very moment?
I just wanna thank everyone in advance for the help and I know that through everyones commbined experienece and expertise, we can get this problem fixed

    - See:

    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use. Also, iOS 7 seems to make the iPod more sensitive to bad cables.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Replacing iTouch and Syncing new one.

I am replacing my 3rd generation iTouch with a 5th gen. When I connect to my PC for the 1st time will I be able to sync all of my old content onto the new iTouch? Does the name of the new iTouch need to be different from the old one? Will my settings (subscriptions) for podcasts remain the same? Any help greatly appreciated!

while that is correct, i wonder what kind of in-app data any of the mentioned apps could lose.

  • Can't sync music onto new itouch

I received a replacment Itouch because of issues with my previous one. I am now trying to get my music library on to my new Itouch and it does not work. How do I get all of my information onto my new ipod? Everytime i try to sync, it won't go past step 1.
    Thanks!!

The first step is creating a backup.  Try either deleting the existing backup file or moving it to a safe place.  It is located:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\

  • Itouch - USB device not recognized and Itouch now no longer works

I'm now on my 3rd Itouch since December all due to the same problem. All seemed to be going well with my 3rd replacement Itouch. Having loaded most of my cd collection into ITunes the night before I was going on holiday I synced my Itouch. Some sort of automatic download took place I think from Microsoft and suggested my drivers were being updated. Next thing I got message to restore my Itouch to factory settings. I did this and all the problems I had with my previou Itouch's started again.
When I now plug my Itouch into my laptop it says "USB device not recognized" and the Itouch will not switch on. I've done everything including reinstalling Itunes, holding down the power and home key but to no avail. Looks like I'm going to have to send my Itouch back again. I have a suspicion that a Microsoft download is corrupting the drivers. If anyone can help I would be very grateful. I really like my Itouch but the fact it keeps failing leads me to wonder if I should opt for something else.

I had success with the holding down the keys and connecting to usb and using itunes to restore firmware like they show here

  • Transfer Upgrade to New iTouch

I had an iTouch - then I purchased the upgrade on iTunes. Then the iTouch developed a problem and I returned it to the store for a replacement. I think the replacement is also the "un-upgraded" version. My question - how can I transfer the upgrade I purchased to my replacement iTouch?
    Thanks

If you are going to have it attached to a large monitor most of the time, I'm not sure the 17" is the best bet. The 15" is just as fast, but more portable and cheaper. If you are using it not attached to a monitor, the new 17" HD (1920 x 1200) would be a huge upgrade just in screen size.
It is faster but not a huge amount faster unless you are running games or graphics apps that use the hardware (like Apple Aperture).
Upgrade to new 17" from a Macbook, is it worth it?? I
know the obvious.. screens allot bigger, other
features.. but the true overall performance for
everyday tasks (spreadsheets, word, net, email,
etc..) will I notice a big lift in speed going from 2
GH Intel Core Duo w/ 2gb ram to the new 17" MacBook
Pro? Half the time or more it will be plugged into a
    Dell 24" widescreen monitor..
Thanks in advance for any thoughts, opinions, etc..

  • ITouch connection to iTunes

itouch is recognized by itunes as an iphone with error message "An iPhone has been detected, but it could not be identified properly. Please disconnect and reconnect the iPhone, then try again." Replaced iTouch and re-downloaded iTunes with same results.

pls follow this thread to see if it is the same case as yours

Can I replace a damaged iTouch 4G for a refurbished white iTouch 4G?

Did you drop it? This is not covered under the warranty. Otherwise, take it in to an Apple store to get a free replacement if there is a defect.
This warranty does not apply: (a) to damage caused by use with non-Apple products; (b) to damage caused by accident, abuse, misuse, flood, fire, earthquake or other external causes; (c) to damage caused by operating the product outside the permitted or intended uses described by Apple; (d) to damage caused by service (including upgrades and expansions) performed by anyone who is not a representative of Apple or an Apple Authorised Service Provider; (e) to a product or part that has been modified to significantly alter functionality or capability without the written permission of Apple; (f) to consumable parts, such as batteries, unless damage has occurred due to a defect in materials or workmanship; or (g) if any Apple serial number has been removed or defaced.

  • Is it possible to replace the internal wifi antenna in a itouch 1st gen with a stronger internal wifi antenna from a slightly newer model, such as a 2nd or 3rd gen itouch?

Is it possible to replace the internal wifi antenna in a itouch 1st gen with a much stronger internal wifi antenna from a slightly newer model, such as a 2nd or 3rd generation itouch?

That is not very likely as the antennae are different physical designs and fit will be an issue.
