  • Replacing Motherboard on HP Media Center PC running Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit)

Running OEM version of Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit) on an HP Pavilion Media Center m8226x Desktop PC.  Replacing motherboard ASUS M2N68-LA Motherboard 6150SE HP Narra2-GL8E with an MCP61PM-HM (Nettle2) motherboard due to failure.  Both boards have same chipset and form factor.  Can I just replace board without reinstalling windows?  Do I need to install new drivers?  I don't have an install CD or install key, would Microsoft provide a key if needed?  Is there a link I can reference for MB replacement/ install?
    Thanks for you assistance!

The OEM license is tied to the original motherboard version, ie M2N68-LA. You lose the OEM "rights" when you changed the board.

  • Same pc, replacement motherboard installed, won't accept activation

    Hi all,
I have adobe installed on my main desktop and a laptop. The desktop recently went for repair and came back with a replacement motherboard (exactly same make/model etc) but now adobe won't accept the activation. I had assumed that after roughly 2 weeks the 'old' activation would stop, like when a hard drive dies. This doesn't appear to be the case however. So I'm left with the same pc but Adobe thinking I have 3 different installations. What to do? Many thanks

Activations cannot just "stop", because the server handling them doesn't know anything about your dead system. Call support by phone and they'll sort it out.

  • Replacement Motherboard for Aspire M3985-UR20P in the US

Need a replacement motherboard for an Aspire M3985-UR20P. Any ideas? Couldn't find any motherboards in the Acer Store.  Thank You

Hello, You'll find below the motherboard of your desktop:MB.SJQ0P.001MAIN BD.B75.W/O.1394.LF If you use Windows preinstalled, you have to buy this one from your Acer store. You can request a quote and place an order from your Acer store by tchat or by phone. You'll need the serial number of your desktop. Microsoft OEM:"Generally, an end user can upgrade or replace all of the hardware components on a computer—except the motherboard—and still retain the license for the original Microsoft OEM operating system software. If the motherboard is upgraded or replaced for reasons other than a defect, then a new computer has been created. Microsoft OEM operating system software cannot be transferred to the new computer, and the license of new operating system software is required. If the motherboard is replaced because it is defective, you do not need to acquire a new operating system license for the PC as long as the replacement motherboard is the same make/model or the same manufacturer's replacement/equivalent, as defined by the manufacturer's warranty."

  • Replacement Motherboard for Dual 1ghz MDD G4

My original motherboard for my G4 is toast.
What replacement Motherboards are compatible with my dual 1ghz
    mdd G4?
The white sticker on board reads: 630T3984/630-4256
    Thanks
    Eric

Ouch, I was hoping it wouldn't be one of those.
I think it has to be the same. My info comes from an Apple document discussing CPU upgrades.
    Wait ... quoted -
    Before Replacing the Processor
    Important:
Apple has determined a compatibility issue between the processor and certain
fabrication levels of the logic board on some Power Mac Server G4 (Mirrored Drive Doors)
and Power Mac G4 (Mirrored Drive Doors) products. Before ordering a replacement
processor for those models, follow these steps:
    1. Open the computer and check the fabrication number that is printed on the logic
board. The fabrication number is easily visible at the edge of the board near PCI card
    slot 5.
    2. If the logic board fabrication number is 820-1308, 820-1440, or 820-1445, do
    not
order the processor module. Instead, you must replace both the logic board and the
processor by ordering the combined module: Module Set, Logic and Processor (Apple
    part number 661-3654).
    Replacement Warning:
When ordering this combined module set, a returned logic
board must match one of the three fabrication numbers (820-1308, 820-1440, or 820-
1445). If the logic board does not match one of these fabrication numbers, it will be
    rejected.
    3. If the logic board fabrication number is any other number (
    not
    820-1308, 820-1440, or
820-1445), order only the multiprocessor module (Apple part number 661-2730).
So make of it what you will. If your email address is in your profile, I'll email the whole document - it's a bible for MDD owners - shows you how to remove and replace everything, with photos. It's only 3.3MB.

  • X220 How to user replace Motherboard?

So my X220's motherboard is apparently non-repairable and my warranty is out. I'd like to get a replacement motherboard from ebay, as its cheaper than a new laptop, and the x220 is less than two years old.
The only motherboards available are i5 2520m 2.5ghz models, my original motherboard was a 2.4ghz 2430m I believe. Is it still possible to user replace it? I'm not sure since its a different cpu, and I have heard of people have invalid UUID problems. I am wondering if I can just swap motherboards and use the same HDD and OS? I dont have a setup utility or original windows disk.
    Thanks.

  • Dv6636nr replacement motherboard now microphone not recording sound

    hi
i am having a problem with my machine. after a recent replacement motherboard was fitted i now no longr have microphone functionality. skype will not complete the test call successfullly and trying to set up speech recognition the red and yellow bars dont even move.i think that in the microphone section however if you tap the system it does recognize there, there are a couple of shooting green bars, this is all i can get!!
i have been trying to solve the problem for hours now, downloaded the drivers/uninstalled. tried a previous version but it just kept reupdating. also got the UAA driver but still nothing.
i have sound on everything else and my cam works.
    any ideas?
    thank youu!!!!

    Good idea Joe.
I went to my system preferences (I'm running Mavericks) and checked.
My internal microphone shows as 'built-in'
My line in shows as 'audio line-in port'
I moved up the input volume a little to be safe
Output volume on full, but there was never any problem playing tracks previously recorded.
I still haven't reinstalled Garage Band, as I wanted to get my podcast done before the end of the month. I exported the cast as it was to an external hard drive, along with small mp3's I had been about to add in (like my jingle) then went to another computer in the house, and recreated the podcast from those mp3's. I was able to add in the introductory audio recording on that other computer and complete my podcast.
I transferred the newly recreated podcast back to my normal laptop (where the problem occurs), checked and published my podcast. I double checks the newly recreated cast (the one I built up on the other machine from mp3's) to see if I could record now  - since I recorded within that particular project on the other machine. I *still was not able to record* on my laptop.
I still cannot create another new project that allows me to audio record. My preferences for the garage band app and op sys  on my laptop, all appear to be set for sound.
I guess I will now break down and reinstall garage band. I think I've reset something in the application that an update doesn't reset.
    Thanks for your ideas.

  • Replacement motherboard for P6813W

I haven't been able to find an original replacement motherboard for my P6813W desktop.
I see a lot of aftermarket boards for sale. I want something that is compairable to my original since it worked well for me.
I need one that can support an AMD FX-4130 3.8Ghz proccesor and a MSI ATI Radion HD6450 video card.
Any suggestions for one that is $150 or less?

The Win 7 OS your using is tattoo'ed  with the original motherboard. It will only activate with the same board and version.  Recently my m8100e CTO motherboard (Narra3) became unsteady.   The HP s5120y has the Narra5. I tried swapping out the hard drive to the working system, but it did not activate, but did allow some latitude (3 days) to activate.  As I was busy with another project, I have not continued with the Narra5.

  • After HP support replaced Motherboard, the window 2008 r was running okay after few days I got a Black Screen stating windows is not genuine

After HP replaced the motherboard, and few days later I got a black desktop and windows not genuine afterwards. Any suggestion what I should do. I tried to use Microsoft support website on the server, and it will not let me proceed to any of their site.
The browser display security certification invalid. Any help would be appreciated.
    Kind Regards

Have you tried re-activating your copy of Windows? Eg, either using the prompt that appears or going into My Computer properties and checking the activation status at the bottom of the page?
From memory, when you activate a copy of Windows it makes a note of the currently installed hardware (spec, serial numbers etc) so you can't just copy all the files onto another machine and use it there. My guess is that the setup has changed enough for
it to no longer recognise it as the same machine (though I thought it normally takes a few elements changing to trigger that reaction), and so thinks it's no longer genuine. Getting Windows to activate again may work, otherwise you'll probably need to phone
Microsoft to get them to sort it out and allow it to activate again.

  • Mac mini replacement motherboards

I have a 2.53ghz intel core 2 duo, 4gb of DDR3, 320gb mac mini I purchased in 2009. It stopped working so I took it into apple and they told me the motherboard was out and It would cost $430 to fix. I was wondering if there is an less expensive alternative to having apple replace it? Ive heard that I can purchase a "third party" motherboard and replace it myself. I am looking for any suggestions anyone has.
    Thanks

There are no 3rd party logic boards. You can purchase used logic boards, however. ifixit.com is one source, as is ebay mentioned above. You can google "mac mini logic  boards" and find a number of vendors with used boards. ifixit.com has some good directions on how to replace the board, too.

  • Solaris 10 - Help replacing Motherboard

I have been running Solaris 10 for a number of months on a pieced together PC. Recently the motherboard died (ECS Nforce6M-A V:2.0). Unfortunately, I was not the one to set all this up, and have been desperately looking for help to get this system up and running again. I purchased an Asus M3A76-CM to replace it with. I wasn't able to find another ECS board of the same model.
The issue is that it seems (and I've been told) that Solaris doesn't like the fact I changed the motherboard on it. During the boot up process, I get into the Grub selection menu (the two options are: Solaris Express Developer Edition 9/07 snv_70b x86, and Solaris failsafe). If I selected the first option, it displays the first 3 lines (which I can't seem to catch) and immediately reboots. I can enter the failsafe mode just fine however.
Can someone direct me to a link (or help directly) as to what I must do to get this up and running? I have been and will continue to search for an answer on my own, but I'm racing the clock as is :(
Thanks for any help (and I hope this is the right section for this).

We are facing very similar (the same?) problem.
Does anyone have a solution to this?

  • Where can I find a replacement motherboard for MB 2.16 intel core 2 duo?

    Hi,
One of my bosses has a macbook 2.16 GHz that's been diagnosed with a fried motherboard. He'll have to get a new one. And he asked me to shop around for a replacement. I don't see anything out there other than one on ifixit.com site. How can this be since it's a relatively new computer. When I do a search on Google I am often directed to sites that sell all kinds of replacement CPUs/processors/motherboards, often saying nothing about being ok to use in macs. Can someone please point me in a direction or two, or give me some terminology so that I can see whether or not NewEgg etc, offers parts that I can use in a mac?
    Thanks much in advance,
    Sheila

I've always bought used mother boards on ebay. Sometimes it means buying an entire laptop with perhaps a bad display or other bad parts.
If you take this route you pretty much need to be able to replace it yourself because I don't think you are likely to find a service shop that will take your used parts to fix your computer. They would ot be able to guarantee anything if they are installing unknown hardware.

  • Elements 11 won't open after replacing motherboard

I have a hard copy of Elements 11, which is activated on my laptop and my husband's laptop.  I recently had to replace the motherboard in mine.  Now when I try to open Elements, I get a message that the activation code has already been used twice and I have to purchase a new code or deactivate one of the 2 computers.  We both use the program so I can't delete it from my husband's, and I shouldn't have to anyway.  I can't exactly deactivate the code from my laptop pre-mobo switch, so how can I get it to work on my laptop again?
