Replacement of backup battery

Where can I purchase a backup battery? Can I install this myself? If not, where should I go for the installation?
Thanks,
Jack

Hello,
Which model of T-series ThinkPad do you have?  Knowing that may be helpful in determining which type of battery your notebook computer has and the associated replacement steps for it.

  • How do I open the door to my Optical Network Terminal (ONT) to replace the backup battery

I have an ONT that looks like this: http://www.verizon.com/cs/groups/public/documents/adacct/bbux400-open.jpg How do I open the door to it to replace the battery? Thanks Ben
    Solved!

My ONT BBU (Battery Backup Unit) looks just like yours.  The door is where it says ONT 314 and Verizon.
On mine, I can just grip the edge of the lower right and corner of the door, under the lights and buttons where it says SOHO, and pull the door open.
    That exposes the battery.

  • Backup Battery

I have an iMac G3 CRT, indigo. It won't hold date & time anymore. The help menu tells me I may need to replace the backup battery but I can't find any info on where it is or how to accesss it. Anybody got info??

    Welcome Dale!
This is the battery as sold online:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Newer%20Technology/BAA36VPRAM/
Radio Shack stores cary the correct battery as part number 23-026, but will charge you three times the online price (the example I posted is typical).
If you open the RAM installation door on the bottom of the case, you can see the PRAM battery. A non-metallic grasping tool like plastic forceps makes replacing the battery easier. Make sure to note the polarity of the old battery and duplicate it when installing the new one.
Most PRAM batteries last a long time, but start to die quickly when the computer is off wall power. Best practice is to leave Macs plugged into the wall socket even if they are not getting much use. If you must unplug one for an extended period of time, remove the battery and tape it to the case.

  • Replace Backup Battery

My installer put the backup battery in the attic.  I'm disabled so I don't stand a prayer of getting up there to replace the battery.  What do I do when it's time to replace the battery?  How do I know the battery needs changing?  What's the average before a battery needs to be change?

Mine began beeping about a week ago.  I could find nowhere on the general website that addressed this problem--even in the automated help (i always got remote control battery replacement...not helpful).  Nor was i initially able to get real, live tech support.  This morning i got through and was advised consistent with this string: ie verizon warantees the back-up battery for one year only; after that it is your problem.  the website is:
                                                             fios.asurion.com
please note: there is no www. before the address.
there are only three tabs on the website: home; order; log-in.
the battery at this time costs just under $50.00 (not sure what shipping is).
I am pleased with Fios (though the Verizon customer support website could use some help), but charging you 50 bucks to replace the battery is something not even the cable company would do.
note also: the back-up battery powers only your phone service in the event of a power outage (according to tech support; no internet, no tv).  So...i thought (and was advised by tech support) i could just take out the battery to get rid of the beeping...didn't work.
hope this helps you avoid what it took me to figure out.

  • Backup battery replacement specifications

I have scanned MULTIPLE pdf manuals on replacing the FLAT backup battery in the 17" iMac G5 with the ambient light sensor AND NOWHERE DOES IT TELL YOU WHAT KIND, TYPE, SPECS, ETC. It just says replace it with the new one.. well duh!
There was no battery under the little clip for me to compare it to otherwise I wouldn't have a problem. In fact, I don't understand how the machine was working before since it had been working perfectly fine a couple days ago. I cracked open the case to replace/upgrade the hard drive and when I put back together unit will not boot. Cracked open the back and that was when I noticed the little flat battery compartment was empty???????????
I have replaced those little 3.6v purple backup batteries for 20 years. Why didn't they just stick with SAME BATTERY they have used for over 20 years

The battery is a CR2032 3 volt lithium button battery that you can find for about five dollars in any Radio Shack.

  • ONT Backup Battery Replacement

I'm attempting to replace my ONT battery to make the beeping stop.  I attempted to do it both here and through my set, but in both cases I get a message that says "this service is currently not working.  Try again later."  It's now been 10 days.  I give up.  My current battery model # is PX12072.  However, when I search this site it apparently does not exist.  The only one I can find is a GT-12080-HG (and you have to zoom in on the photo to see the model number, as no technical specs are provided).  Is this the appropriate replacement for my unit?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The GT12080-HG is the original battery.  The PX12072 is a substitute.  Either will work, though the GT12080-HG has a slightly higher Ah. (8Ah vs 7Ah)   The main difference is cost.

  • Can I just disconnect/remove Fios backup battery?

I cut off my home phone service due to not needing/wanting it any longer a few months ago. Now the backup battery is beeping every few minutes. I assume that means it needs replacing.  But it's also my understanding it's only for the phone. I now only have fios cable/internet services. I disconnected the battery and took it out, but that annoying beeping continues. I have even hit the alarm off button on several occasions but it still continues. Am I missing a step or something. I'm about over it and contemplating switching back over to the local cable provider Cox Communications.

People, when you reply to someone's post, do you even read it?  He is stating the following:
"I disconnected the battery and took it out, but that annoying beeping continues. I have even hit the alarm off button on several occasions but it still continues."
I assume that he wants to know how to shut off the beeping.  He does not want to buy a new battery or pull a cable off of a battery that is already out of the box!  He just wants to stop the beeping, period.
My only suggestion is to take the box apart and cut the wire to the speaker (alarm), this will silence it for good.  Otherwise, you will have to purchase a battery and plug it in to keep it charged.
    Sorry for my little rant!

I did, in fact, read the post. The unit itself is causing the beeping (not the battery), and as I said, this is usually caused by the unit not receiving power. Remove the CAUSE, and the symptom should be resolved. I did not suggest anything to do with the battery itself.

  • Backup Battery Question

    Hi
I've been asked to get a Titanium up and running which has been left in a storage cupboard for years. After reading through this forum it's becoming obvious that the reason it won't power up or charge the main battery is because the internal backup battery has run flat. I've tried a few suggestions such as resetting the PMU, leaving the power cord plugged with the main battery removed, etc, but after a few days of this I think replacing the internal battery is the only way I'm going to be able to revive the machine.
I've downloaded take-apart instructions and am fairly IT competent so I'm not put off by this, but I'm confused as to which battery part code I should order - there's three different ones for the Titanium. I don't have any documentation for this machine and as I can't start it I can only say it's the 500Mhz model with a VGA connector on the back.
Does anyone know which battery I should order?
    Thanks =0)

Took the plunge and opened the case up - was able to get correct part number by searching on Google using code stamped on backup battery =0)

ok sounds good, but i cant figure out how to properly charge it,
do i need to put the normal battery pack out and then attach it to the AC adapter, or not?
Does the laptop need to be running or will it be charged also turned off?
i would really appreciate if u could help me out and tell me the proper way to recharge!!
    thanks already,
    cheers,
    Andi

    Hello and welcome,
I didn't know that the backup battery was rechargeable.  I don't think it is.  You might be better off to just replace it.
The  Hardware Maintenance Manual page 80 shows how to access it.  According to the System Service Parts T410, the FRU number is 02K7078.  They should be easy to find and inexpensive.

  • Change backup battery or not?

I am in the process to replace the thermal module of my W510 machine. I have opened the cover and saw the backup battery. I am curious that  is it a good time to change the backup battery? Do I need to change it or not? It is not that easy to open the cover like this. What's your advice?

Depends on the battery type.  There are actually rechargeable types, so these will appear to last the life of the machine, or at least the time the original owner has possession of the unit.
If the battery is not the rechargeable kind, look for 2-3+ years. In any event, it's a good idea to change when the system is open if it is in a normally inaccessible area. as this will avoid any corrosion that may occur as the battery ages.  Otherwise wait until the system looses it's memory <g>.
Interstingly, my Nikon has a CR1616 button battery, and it's been over 4 years now, and still working.

  • Looking for A Replacement iPhone 4S Battery

    Hello-
I am told by my boss at Liberty Unive where I will be teaching 4 courses in the online courses and the online program in the Human Servises for the graduate MA graduate program in Health & Wellness.  With having to deal with getting to know the iPhone 4s and other specific areas on the webplatform, I need advice in helping me select a iPhone 4S batery that will aloow me to have more video/picture taking time.  Does anybody know of an item using the iPhone 4S that will allow me to have the freedom to stick to a battery for the still pictures and a battery that will charge quickly and alow me to use it for the HD videos?
I also need to use a high-quality LifeProof type case where the battery can stick out, but also have the freedon to select the HD video battery for the HD videos?
I would appreciate it if there is any way if anybody knows if Life proof has a quality Case for the iPhone 4S but also use the Life Proofcase and also use the LifeProof case with the Battery for extra pictures, HD videos, using the video and the battery that will aloow me to have extra time in using this extra time using the extra rechargable battery?  I need the HD video to shoot HD videos that will give me the extra time I need.  I really need the professional HD plasma retina video but when the battery is losing its "strenrth" I can turn on the HD video , shoot some more videos and get the same quality of HD videos I have been able to produce in the past.
any sugggestions from this company LifeProof, and  see the quality of videos in HD produced.
I hope the qualith will all turn out OK, but I am having my doubts and might need a more quality extended battery from LifeProof.
thanks for any suggestions without making it too complicated.  it is not worth losing professional HD video shooters in producing these videos.
Thanks for staying with me and trying to help me find the right combination in producing the high-quality HD videos that I need throughout the videos.  any thoughts on continiuing to take the HD videos using the Best HD videos.
thanks.  Open to suggestions on how I can keep the quality, not lose the HD qhality

it is applet again.  what lifeproof case do you have that you like so much.  The problem with lifeproof is the same as I posted on the other thread.  they are durable but the plastic they use makes the case look kind of cheezy, I need the case to be durable like LifeProof but much better looking like Speck or BallisticCaseCo.com I think has some super durable cases and ai can leave on the CEO's desk for meetings.
Tell me about the mophie juice pack.  is that and extra battery pack?  I was wondering if they make a more durable batter for the iPhone 5 that I can replace with the battery that came with the iPhone.
How long have you had the iPhomne 5?  Any issues with it yet?  Have you read all the probllems peopel are having with what appears to be the first batch that shipped out?

  • What are the best external backup battery choices for the iPod Touch 4G?

    Hello,
I am so disappointed with the battery life on my iPod Touch 4G, even when I turn off location services and notifications and put it in airplane mode.
As such, I realize that I am going to have to get an external backup battery, even though I don't like the idea of carrying around yet another item.
What are the best choices out there, especially any ultra-portable (aka small and non-bulky) ones?  I came across this Juice Pack Air - iPod Touch 4G Case, which seems like the perfect solution, but it is on back order and seems to have been so for a good amount of time.  Who knows when it will be in stock again.
TIA for any and all help!

bumping up (I hope doing so is allowed.)

    As Niel pointed out, yes.  The disk probably will look like the MBP disk (4) in this screenshot;

  • Ibook g4 133 backup battery???

Hi, I have never had this problem and i always let my computer die on battery power but lately my ibook runs out of juice and when it starts up via powercord it has changed the date..... never did that in the 2 years i have owned this one or the one before it.... i read that they don't have back up batteries but i never experienced this until this week.... what is up? it also wont go intohybrnation when it it runs out of juice and is still on it jst all of a subben dies.... no little white light onin the front......
so is it true that there are no backup batteries...??? and going into hybernation was what saved the timmeand date...
    thanks.....

    Hi Richard,
It's true. There is no backup battery. There's a small capacitor that maintains PRAM for about a minute while batteries are swapped.
Your battery is probably near dead. Lithium ion batteries have a life of two years on average. You can try resetting the PMU but you probably need a new battery.
