Replacement path error!

HI all
I am using BI 7.0;
I have a characteristic ZPL_CNT in cube;
now i want to use the value of the characteristic as column in Query.
So i created formula variables with replacement path processing type:
setting:
i created a new formula "Calculated MBZ"
the formula formula variables is "ZMBZ" and insert the variables into "Calculated MBZ"
Reference characteristic: ZPL_CNT
Processing type : Replacement path
Replace variable with: Attribute value
Attribute: characteristic Reference (constant 1)
But i find the value in Query incorrect
Can anyone help me solve this problem?
Ths inadvanced .

first of all the definition of formula variable is wrong
replace it with key value not attribute constant 1.
hope this helps
secondly you cannot get your requirement through this if you want to see value of InfoObject  stated above ,in your query.
drag the infoObject into columns and filter it with the required values.

  • Regarding Characteristics variable with Replacement path error

    Hi Masters
I have created one replacement path variable on characteristics for 0material for first query. This query contains the details of material number only(50 values are available). My second query contains material numbers and material price are there (53 values). When I executed my query, im getting only material number of second query only(50 values are displayed as output, I hope datas are retrived which is common on both query for material number, Please confirm my this). I couldn't get second query's rest of fields like material price of material number. I don't know, what is wrong...?
    Could u please help me
    Thanks in advance
    Raja.S

    Hi
I don't think so, i have to create the characteristic value for material price.
Not only I think, we can't create  characteristic value for material price.
If it is possible, Please give step by step solution
    Thanks in advance

  • Error while creating a Characteristic Variable with Replacement Path

    Hi all,
I am trying to create the Characteristic Variable ZVLOWDT (Low Date') with Replacement Path on characteristic ZSTARTDT (Start Date) and it gives the error 'Source to replace 'Low Date' is not defined.
I have created a User Entry Variable VAR_DATE (Start Date) with interval like '01/01/2009 - 01/15/2009'  and  Customer Exit variable ZVCPDAY (does some calculation based on the input of VAR_DATE) on the same ZSTARTDT characteristic. I want to get the 01/01/2009 (lower range date of the selection) into this Characteristic Variable ZVLOWDT. We are in BI 7.0 and the following are it's properties:
    General Tab:
    Description: Low Date
    Technical Name: ZVLOWDT
    Type of Variable: Characteristic Value
    Processing by: Replacement Path
    Reference Characteristic: ZSTARTDT Start Date
    Details Tab:
    Variable Represents : Single value
    Variable is: Mandatory
Variable is Ready for Input : unchecked
    Replacement Path Tab: Replacement Rule
    Replace Variable with : Variable
    Variable : VAR_DATE
    Replace with : KEY
Why I am getting this error, PLEASE ?
    Thanks,
    Venkat.

    Hi Khaja,
We could derive a Variable value from another Variable with out Customer Exit. There is a white paper.
First have the User Entry Variable (ZV_X) and it accepts the date range like '01/01/2009 - 01/31/2009'. Next create the Characteristic variable (ZV_Y) of Replacement Path for which source variable will be ZV_X and we could get the 'FROM Date' (01/01/2009) from the selection (ZV_X) into it (ZV_Y).
While creating the Characteristic variable (ZV_Y) of Replacement Path, I didn't find my newly created ZV_X variable in the list of available variables under 'Variable' header in 'Replacement Path' tab and it is causing the error  'Source to replace variable ZV_Y is not defined'. How could I create the Characteristic variable of Replacement Path, PLEASE ?
    Thanks,
    Venkat.

  • Error when using replacement path variable in exception range

I'm trying produce a check report that produces exception highlighting based on a range determined by the associated characteristic.
    eg.
For Check 1, highlight cells in red where the associated key figure is between 1 and 999.
For Check 2, highlight cells in amber where the associated key figure is between -999 and -1.
Now, I know that the lower and upper limit of an exception can be populated by a formula variable. However, when I create a formula variable that uses a replacement path to fetch the limit values from the associated Check and use that in the exception, the query errors when I try to run it:
System Error: 'Variable name ( technical name ) does not exist or is incorrectly used 4 New Exception.'
The error long text suggests that the variable is being used incorrectly, even though it says for Formula variables:
... can be used in all cases. Note: Formula variables can have units or be without them. Incorrect use can also arise here since the system always calculates in accordance with the units. Formula variables can also be used to create the upper and lower limits in exceptions.
In this case, the formula variable does not have units.
Interestingly, but equally unhelpfully, if a regular constant is used instead of a formula variable for the lower limit, but a formula variable is still used for the upper limit, the error message changes to:
System error in program SAPLRRI2 and form FAC_VAR_IN_VREP_INSERT-1-
The query works if the formula variable simply holds a default value, so the problem clearly appears to be with replacement path. If BEx doesn't support replacement path formula variables in exceptions, then aside from the fact that it would be useful if that was stated in the errors, what alternatives, if any, deliver the functionality of exception ranges that change depending on the corresponding characteristic.

I put in the curly brackets so my formula now reads
    "Total inquiries for " + {CnAttrCat_1.CnAttrCat_1_Description} + ": " + ToText({@InquiryTypeSubtotal})
Now when I check the formula I get the error message "This field name is not known."

  • Query replacement path generates error

Hi experts, I need to filter the contents of a query based on another query so I created a replacement path variable. My source query has a number of restrictions but only has my characteristic in rows and a keyfigure in collumns. I created the replacement path value on that characteristic and use it to filter my final query.
When I try to run the final query in BEx analyzer or RSRT I get the following error:
"System error in program SAPLRRK0 and form RRK_LIST_NOTIFY-01- (see long text)"
Any thoughts on what is wrong or should I just post a message to SAP support? By the way, I'm on BI 7.0 SP 17.
    Thank you.

In the text variable that you are using , i guess you have a replacement path. In this instead of using your characteristic for specifying how the value has to replace, use the variable option and give the variable name there

  • Replacement Path with query---error

    Hi
I have one query 'B' which uses replacement path variable(with query  A) on 'Customer' infoobject in Global filter area.
So everytime,I execute query 'B',first query 'A' runs and gives some customers list who are active yesterday and today. This active customers list is fed into replacement variable in query 'B' and query 'B' shows its own result.
The problem,we have is,Query 'B' is showing some customers who are not in the list returned by query 'A'.
Any ideas, how I can fix this problem?
    Thanks.............

    Hi
    Thanks for your reply.
    Both run on same Multiprovider.
First thing is...this Customer infoobject is placed in Global filter area of Main Query and the infoobject has replacement path variable(with query on it).So the main query's data is limited to whatever customers that are given by replacement path query.
how can Main query show some customers data thats not been given by this replacement path query?
Second thing is...when user reported this error,he showed error in screenshots. When I ran query today, error is gone. Its showing correct.I reported to user and he informed that its happening now and then ....He gave one more example that happened today which is exactly of some type.....Main Query is showing customers that are not given by Replacement path query .....
    Any ideas?Thanks

  • Charactestics with replacement path getting error (ple solve urgent)

    hi frieds,
how are you. i created 2 queries
first query (sender)  customer material and quantity
    2nd query (receiver)  customer sales.
now i went rsbbs and joined 2 queries. i went sender query and gto and rec i got 2 queries.
now i went sender query used varible characterstics with manual entry/default now i went receiver quer charracterstics with replacement path, when i am creting variable i am getting error like i can use variable in default value.
    why.
    ple let me know solution.
    regards
    ssk

    SSK,
I'm not totally sure I understand what you mean by getting a characteristic with a replacement path.
Yes you need two queries for a RRI - one sender and one receiver.
When you run the sender query you may or may not enter variables into the query to run it. When the query is run you will select a row in your results area, right mouse click, select Got - and then pick the Query you have setup the RRI with from the resulting Context menu.
Lets say you are on a row that contains the characteristics Customer / Material and Date. When you execute the jump, the values of the three characteristics for the row that you were on when you did the jump will automatically be passed to your receiver query, as long as those three characteristics exits in your receive query. They should not have any variables on them in the receive query - the jump passes the values from the sender query to the receiver query.
let me know how you get on.

  • Variable with Replacement Path

Hi, I have two queries. The results of the first one should be the input for the second one. E.g. the first query shows a list of personnel numbers and additional information. These personnel numbers shall be overtaken by the second query. The personnel numbers belong to "Dimensions" in the Query Designer. I alread tried to create a variable with replacement path to the dimension personnel number. I implementet this variable in both the first and the second query (under: "rows"). It`s no "Formular variable" and no "Calculated Key Figure" but a "Characteristic Value Variable" of a Dimension. The problem is now that I cannot execute any of the two queries. The error "Abort the query cannot be released for OLE DB for OLAP. System error in programm CL_RSR_REQUEST and form PREPARE_VQUERIES:INVALID_
What is my mistake? Thank you in advance! Eve

    Hi Eve,
It is possible to connect the 2 queries using a Replacement Path characteristic variable. You would need to create the variable on the char whose values you want to pass from Q1 to Q2. The variable will be of type replacement path and you will need to enter the name of Q1 from which it will get the values. Make sure that you include this char in the query definition of Q1 and Q2. In Q2 you will restrict the characteristic using this variable. DO not use this variable (replacement path) in Q1.
In your query properties check if you have turned on the checkmark for Release for OLE DB for OLAP (3rd tab). If the check mark is there, then remove it.
We are using the scenario in a couple of places, and it works very well.

  • Creating Variable with Replacement Path to get value from ANOTHER Variable

    Hi all,
Is anyone has created the Variable with Replacement Path to get the value from another User Entry Variable, PLEASE ?
First created the User Entry Variable (ZV_X) and it accepts the date range like '01/01/2009 - 01/31/2009'. Next created the Characteristic variable (ZV_Y) of Replacement Path for which source variable will be ZV_X and we should get the 'FROM Date' (01/01/2009) from the selection (ZV_X) into it (ZV_Y).
While creating the Characteristic variable (ZV_Y) of Replacement Path, I didn't find my newly created ZV_X variable in the list of available variables under 'Variable' header in 'Replacement Path' tab and it is causing the error 'Source to replace variable ZV_Y is not defined'. How could I create the Characteristic variable of Replacement Path for my requirement, PLEASE ?
    The following is from help.sap..com:
    Replace with Characteristic Value
Text and formula variables with the processing type Replacement Path can be replaced with a corresponding characteristic value. In the variable editor, on the General tab page, you specify under Reference Characteristic the characteristic that is to be referenced by the replacement. On the Replacement Path tab page, you can choose whether the variable is replaced with the From or the To Value and with the Key or the Name of the characteristic value. You can also specify the Offset Start and Offset Length for the output.
    Replace with Variable
Characteristic value variables, hierarchy variables, text variables, and formula variables with the Replacement Path processing type can take their values from a different variable.
The following prerequisites need to be fulfilled:
    Variable
    ●      The variable must not be input-ready
    ●      The variable must represent a single value
    Source Variable
    ●      The source variable must not be a hierarchy node variable
    ●      The source variable must be input-ready
    ●      The source variable must be available in the query
    ●      The source variable must represent a single value or an interval
In the variable editor, on the Replacement Path tab page, you specify the source variable from which the value is to be determined. The value is either determined from the key, the external attribute of the key, the description, or the attribute value. You can specify an Offset Start and an Offset Length for the output here. The variable is replaced on the variable screen upon each data release.
    Thanks,
    Venkat.

  • Text Variable With Replacement Path : supported in Webi 4.0 or Not.??

    Hello to All WebI Gurus,
    We are on BO 4.0
We are building WebI report on top of Bex query using the BICS connection from IDT.
Our BW query is having some Text Variable with processing type "Replacement Path".
Also its having fiscal year period in filter with user input variable.
the text variables references Fiscal year period and are used in Key figure description,
hence whatever value the input variable will capture the description of Key figure changes accordingly/dynamically.
But when I try to use it in BO it throws me an error msg saying :
Unknown error occured in SL Services
I am Aware that text variable in this fashion were not supported in BO XI3.1
Used of Sap text variable with replacement path in Bo designer
So are Text variable Supported in BO 4.0 in this fashion.
Any response will be highly appreciable.
    Thanks & Regards
    Neeraj

    Hi,
Here's a great SDN article, which includes several slides covering u201CWhich BEx features are supported using BICS connectivityu201D : http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/d056e1bc-2794-2e10-959e-8779c5623cc5
    Pages 8 -> 12 cover these topics.
If your design choices are compliant (supported) then i'd avise opening a support case if this issue persist after checking again on Patch2.11 (release recently)

  • Issue with the Replacement Path Variable.

    Hi,
I have an issue in using the Replacement Path Variable.
Issue: I have Sales information in the Sales Cube and AR information in the Accounts Receivable cube. Now we have a requirement to show the open AR documents with Sales information in it.
Apparently the system generates same number for both AR and Billing document.
So I thought of using the Replacement path variable in the Sales Query on Billing Document, so that it runs the AR query to get the list of open AR documents into the Sales query. But the system is complaining:
"System error in program CL_RSR_OLAP and form IF_RSR_OLAP~MODIFY_VQUERY_SETTINGS-01- (see long text)".
I searched OSS note on this and found the note: 1432062. Implemented, but now it complains:
"Abort Variable XXX cannot be replaced in this query".
I am trying to return the result from Accounting Document to the Billing Document. I know this is an issue, but after implementing the Note, i thought it would be fixed. But no luck.
Did anyone come across this situation. If you have any solution for this, pls let me know.
    Thanks.

    Hello;
    Why don't you try to add the billing document in your financial cube;
mapping it with the a ccount document number?
This should make the replacement path work fine.

  • Replacement Path variable cannot be used in filter

After creating a variable of type replacement path with query I get the error message:
Errors: Variable ... cannot be used in 'Filter' 'Default Values'; remove
Does anyone know what is causing this message and how to prevent it?
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    József.

    Thanks for your response Bhargava,
Your answer did help me find the solution. When using a replacement path variable with query, you can only use the variable in the Characteristic Restrictions part of the Filters (not in the Default Values).
The characteristic itself can still be used for navigation.
p.s. Found that when copying a query some links to structures, like restricted key-figures, are kept in the metadata repository, even after removing them from the query. This can also cause error messages.

    József.

  • Variable entry for replacement path

    Hi Guys,
This is my scenario. I have query A which uses a set of results from query B via replacement path. I have a mandatory variable entry for Query A which I have used also for query B. I was under the impression that when I made a user entry for the variable for query A, that value would be copied over to query B and perform the filtering in Query B too. Is this not the case.
If I need to perform this operation, i.e use the value that I enter for variable entry in Query A in Query B, how can I do that?
    Thanks,
    Doniv

    Hello Doniv,
we are using this scenario in our queries too, if we define the same variable in the query A and B,
this value is used for the selection in the query B.
Did you tried to search in OSS? (this could be the SAP error)

  • Create a formula variable using replacement path for current date

    Hi All,
I created a formula variable using replacement path for current date.
But when i used this variable am getting an error message saying .
" This Variable cannot be used in this query".
Could you please let me know the reason?
    Thanks,

    Hi All,
    Thanks for all your help...
I just found a solution via the below link
in Bex Formula variabel, Current calander day(sap exit) missing.
Here he is trying to use the existing formula variable.
My doubt here is, Even i could not find this varaible in BEX formula variable, But could see this in BI Content path as mentioned in the above link.  DO i have to transport this varaible , or i simply can activate it in production?
I just could find this in BI Content but not in MetaData Repository.

  • BW 3.5 - Issue with formula variable with replacement path

    Dear experts,
I'm facing an issue with formula variable with replacement path.
Just to clarify, I know replacement paths is raising a lot of questions but I've been using this functionnality extensively in the past, both in 7.0 and 3.5, so I'm not looking for basic information about how to use it.
I'm trying to setup a simple report that would show total values per plant of Purchase Order < 100 €
To do so I've setup a calculated key figure as follow:
    VAR1 * ("PO value" < 100 ) * "PO value"
VAR1 is a formula variable with replacement path on 'purchase order' and value attribute 'constant =1'.
(The report has to show values summarized by plant but should not show the detail PO by PO, so I'm not looking at a solution based on condition)
The report as characteristic "plant" in rows and my CKF in columns.
Now let's take an example. I have 3 POs in Plant 1:
    PO1 -> 150€
    PO2 -> 90€
    PO3 -> 80€
Because of the variable with replacement path, the result in my query should be:
plant1 = 170 (even though characteristic "purchase order" is not in my rows, system should evaluate PO one by one and return values only for those two that are below 100).
But the result coming is 320, which is wrong.
I've done the same report on many other 3.5 systems and it worked perfectly, and I am not able to get proper support from SAP OSS who keep saying that this functionnality is not ready in 3.5 (although I've provided screenshot of this working on another 3.5 system!!! how frustrating...)
They have also pointed to problems of Before and After aggregation but that has absolutely no impact. Once again, the scenario is working perfectly on other 3.5 systems with the same query design, so i'm sure it has nothing to do with Query Designer options.
Would anyone have ever come to an equivalenet problem? I'm wondering whether the DB itself could not play a role in the variable with ref  characteristic 'constant =1' ...
    Any though is welcome!
    thanks

    Hi,
The text variable is replaced when the exact date is clear for this key figure column according to the restriction.
To achive this, please make sure that either the variable is directly restricted in the key figure selection, or that the date characteristic is in drilldown.
    Regards,
    Patricia
