Replacement phone has sim error

Hello,
I have originally purchased my iphone 4 in the Netherlands as a factory unlocked phone. I moved to the US and used this phone on the ATT network without any issues, except for about 4 months ago. I was on vacation in Hawaii and my phone died on me. Since it was within the warrant period apple replaced my phone and I was happy again... However now that I have moved back to the Netherlands I asked my Dutch provider (Vodafone) for a micro sim card as well as my girlfriend. She has no issues with her factory unlocked phone from the US but I get a "no sim" error and a "Invalid SIM" in the top right corner. I have tried my girlfriends sim card in the phone and it gives me the same errors. Could it be that when Apple gave me the new phone they did not give me a factory unlocked one?!? My warranty period has ended and there are no Apple store other than in Amsterdam. What can I do? Upgrade to 5.1.1 did not help!

I don't think it's a common fault just of that firmware version, it's just one of those things... I've been using an N70 with that FW version for a while now, and never experienced it, though there are some flaws of the release.
I've been told on here by other people that have had the FW updated that the update fixes them, but not got round to taking it in yet.
p.s. it's advice, not advise.

    You must mean that the replacement iPhone has iOS 7.0.2 since there is no 7.2 version, 7.1 is the current version.  If your backup was created with iOS 7.1 it will not restore to an iOS 7.0.2 iPhone.  If the iPhone will not update to 7.1 for you, take it back to the Apple store and have the genius bar staff update it so you can restore your backup.

  • Replacement phone has camera issues

    I recently received a new iPhone 4S because my previous had a hardware problem. My replacement phones front camera seems to be much blurrier than my previous that has a blueish tinge to it. My screen is clean and I took off the screen protector to see if that was the issue, which wasn't.

    mIsplayer,  Look no further help is here! Are you trying to access something from the phone that is being replaced? If you put the sim card back on the old phone are you able to access the device?   In regards to the text messages you are not receiving, are they coming from other carriers?     Wifi and Data running simultaneously. Data was being charged to my account even though I was on WIFI. No one can fix the issue. I have wasted 8 hours of my life and went and returned my phone and got a new one yet after the last update I now have WIFI and Data showing that they are running simultaneously.  I have looked at numerous message boards and turned off Caller ID don't have Volte on my phone but do get an error with Visual Voice Mail. I don't want any of these services, you are not helping your customers Verizon or Samsung with forcing us to update. I tried not to update my NEW phone that I had to get from Costco because of this exact same stupid issue happen on my last one. But every time I said NO to update the next time I did anything on the phone the UPDATE would pop up again. I would say NO it would come back. I was doing a text and it came up and I hit update not wanting to and then my phone began updating on a low battery. I had to rush to put on charge and then my WIFI and Data came back on together with arrows on all going up and down. I HATE the lack of support I get from SAMSUNG and VERIZON... Verizon washes their hands and say these are not Updates even though these are the features we have on all our phones like Visual Voice Mail and Volte...

    I did look at the Settings/Cellular to check the applications.  This is one of the steps I did with the person from Verizon who was an "iPhone Specialist".  And he didn't see anything unusual.  And I can honestly tell you they have very minimal number of apps on their phones.
    When I went to the Apple Store the first time with this problem, they had me update the phones iOS systems to see if this would correct the problem.  They were each running older versions but different versions.  One son had one update to do and the other had a couple of updates needed.  So, the problem started before they were updated and they weren't even on the same update.  And nothing changed after we did the updates.
    I didn't reboot the router and modem, because I'm not having any other issues with my phone, my husband's phone, our iPad, xbox, PS3, or laptops.  Would the wifi only affect their phones?

    I have been using PC successfully on my phone, synchronizing with MS Outlook for quite some time. I recently experienced a communcation error during the synchronization of my calender that I cannot resolve. I restored my phone settings, upgaded PC suite and rerun the PC suite settings wizard several times. I have tried updating both directions, as well as updating only outlook data to the phone, but I just can't get passed the "Communications Error" on item 2 of 50.
    I am running the following software:
    XP (Version 5.1, Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519, service pack2)
    PC Suite 6.81.13.0
    Outlook version 11.0, Build 8010
    Connectivity Cable Driver 6.81.1.2
    Does anyone know why this problem has suddenly appeared and how I might go about resolving it?

    I have this problem too.  PC Suite clearly recognises the E51 and the other programs in the suite seem to work OK.  But when I select Sync nothing happens.  I have switched off Nokia email messaging just in case that was causing the problem but it makes no difference.
    Has anyone found out what the solution is yet?

  • New replacement phone switched SIM card says I am roaming.

    I Received my replacement iPhone 5c in the mail yesterday and switched over my SIM card from my previous phone. It says I have full coverage and my internet works fine. This morning when I tryed to send a text message or iMessage neither would send. I tryed to place a call and it says I am roaming ( I am not) and that I need to purchase a one time use roaming pin. 

    What did your carrier say when you reported the problem to them? Sounds like your cellular carriers service may be down in your area.

  • IPhone stolen, replacement phone has other peoples' emails

    My iPhone was stolen about a week ago and immediately turned off after the theft. I put the phone on lost mode but did not remote wipe the phone. Today I finally got a new phone and restored from backup, and in addition to prompting me to sign into my correct Apple ID, it also asked me to sign into a total of 6 other IDs with email addresses I had never seen before.
    I am confused as to how/why this happened. How could this brand new phone have email addresses that (I'm guessing, but correct me if I'm wrong) were logged into on my old phone? And should I be worried about any sort of virus/theft of personal data etc?

    I think restoring your iPhone, setting it up as a new phone is the best option.
    For backing up your data, I would start by syncing all your contacts, calendars, and bookmarks to the compatible programs on your computer (like Safari, Outlook, Address Book, etc.).
    For Notes, the best way I've found would be to email them to yourself.
    To preserve Mail Settings, if the settings were not originally synced from your computer to the iPhone, you may want to copy those settings elsewhere, unless it's one of the already included email configurations (like GMail).
    For your App Store applications, those settings you may need to copy down manually as well, unless the developer provides an alternative method of backing up the data.

I told tech this and they could not answer my question or help me other then "let's do a hard reset" My warranty replacement is coming on Monday. Let's hope this one works. Anyone else havinbg the same problem. it says "such and such as stop working" on all sorts of stuff! Help! I want my iPhone Back!

    I just did a google search on this issue. OMG, I got a ton of videos on this or similar issues. Each one says in some way to clear the cache, reset the data, etc. Why in the world would this continue to happen and they not do a fix that resloves this without having to lose or stop what your doing. This is a very long and constant issue it seems with Android phones as there must have been pages and pages of what I now call "Unfortunately"  So I am going to pray that Verizon helps me  out and gets me away from this issue and helps me go back to iPhone or try the Samsung.

    If you are having the same issue on several computers then it is a hardware issue! Not a software issue! Replacement is the only resolution!

    I've received an email with a solution to the problem; you have to update to the new iOS 5.0.1 firmware (9A406)!! It's been 1Hour and so far my iPHone 4S is working just fine. Please follow carefully the below instructions:
    RUN A FULL BACK UP BEFORE DOING ANY OF THIS
    1. Download the new iOS 5.0.1 firmware (9A406) from the internet. (800MB)
    2. Connect your iPhone 4S to iTunes.
    3. Once connected, two options will show: ‘restore’ and ‘check for update’.
    4. Press down SHIFT and choose ‘check for update’. (if you click ‘check for update’ without pressing down SHIFT doesn’t work.)
    5. Select the new firmware (9A406). Note that the file should be renamed ‘iPhone4,1_5.0.1_9A406_Restore.ipsw’  (instead of ‘iPhone4,1_5.0.1_9A406_Restore.zip’), i.e. changing the file extension from ZIP to IPSW. iTunes will now work alone and update your iPhone 4S.
    A full back up is recommended before firmware upgrade.

    I have just created this account to tell you that nothing would change if you restored your phone.
    The first NO SIM nuisance happened just a week ago. Nothing had been done to the phone before that. I pressed HOME + POWER buttons to restart the phone and SIM card was successfully recognized as if nothing had happened. Then I had a lucky week, not reminded of this issue at all.
    Today, however, the same problem keeps annoying me. I've used the same method to heal the phone but all I have done seems more like a placebo. So I tried the ultimate solution, restroing it in iTunes.
    Ridicuously, the moment I finished basic setup on the newly restored phone, the same NO SIM CARD INSTALLED message poped up.
    So IMO, it's not what you should do to erase and restore your phone.
    Plus, I called my native carrier and they said no such problems have been submitted. And since my nano SIM card is quite new (three months old), I'm not going to replace it.
    I googled this problem and found something on a Hong Kong webpage. The author of that thread points out that there is a flaw in the SIM card tray that prevents the phone from successfully recognizing SIM cards.
    And I really hope Apple could probe into this issue and give official solutions other than restarting / restoring the phone like an idiot.
