The part I need is the external power supply / ac adaptor. It's rated 3.5 V at 5Am
    ps.
I checked every other possibility in the setup of my system and came to the conclusion that the power supply has died. I confirmed this by using a OHM-Meter which showed no power flowing through the device.
The device has a model number on it
    Model: UA-450
If anyone knows if/where I can get a replacement part.
I emailed Customer service but have yet to receive any reply.
    Thanks in advance,

Thanks for your note.. I am still not getting any display or Target firewire startup after
several days of off and on attempts to try every variation of reset, pram/nvram reset et.al because i hoped to have one shot at re-booting it to avoid sending it out for repair with data on the hard drive.
I've tried with and w/o battery in... (fully charged). I'm able to get through the PMU using shift-fn-ctrl-power keyboard combo but on subsequent attempts to restart,
power button with T or even power button alone, there is no power-on at all but a few times I've been able to get the PMU reset and before I go to manually restart it, it restarts (chime) itself, however the only thing indicating it is on is that the caps lock key lights and i can hear (listening with my ear to the thing that it's "on..." yet the drive never gets spinning - If there's any other idea to trick this thing into a Target FW startup or other means of accessing the HD to remove certain data i'm still hoping to get this one fixed (esp. if it is only the cost of a Logic Board replacement.
What is really curious is that a few times it has gone to a PMU reset (with the single beep) even when i have just tried to startup with the power-button alone....and then, as i say, restarted (well, powered on..but nothing else...no display, no drive recognition presumably...)

  • Replacing Power Supply for 20" iMac w/o the Ambient Light

I am pretty sure my power supply is dead for the second time. I've taken the back off and done the power button/reset smu test to see if led #2 momentarily blinks, etc. Taking it to the genius bar is a while to see what they say, even though out of warranty.
Anyway, depending on what Apple says at the store about the cost to replace, I may do it myself. It looks like I need part #661-3350 but I am not sure whether it is considered non-PCF or PFC. Does it matter which one I replace it with?
    Thanks.

    Hello Twingirlz,
I just removed my power supply and received good guidance from JimWarholic.com. who referred me to this Apple article on PSU replacement:
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/imacg517inch_PowerSupply.pdf
Here is a suggested source for the 661-3350 power supply:

My G5 1.8 iMac (1st gen)lost it's first power supply at fourteen months. The replacement burnt out recently due to (at least) swollen (defective) capacitors.
So it's somewhat uncertain if your replacement unit will again give up the ghost prematurely. The power supplies I've researched only have a three month guarantee. You can change the PSU without any trouble. But while you have the back cover off, look carefully at the Logic board to check for abnormalities (as in swollen or leaking capacitors (of which there are 25 in plain sight):

  • I just replaced the power supply in my Intel imac and now the screen is really really dark and I see the missing folder icon, what do I do?

The power supply in my Intel iMac went out (and smelled pretty burned) so I replced it and now when I start it up the display is so dark I can hardly see it and it shows the missing folder icon. Is it the inverter? Or if shine a flashlight on it and re-install the OS will changing the display settings maybe fix it?

Thanks for ur quick reply to my problem. I tried all of that with no results... I did notice tho that the lights next to and above my caps lock key and my num lk key are now flashing. They flash in unison three times then there is a two second pause then they flash three more times and this repeats. They may have been doing this before I tried this solution but I did not take notice until now... I was also wondering how I am supposed to know, after pressing f10 to enter bios, how I can tell if my new drive is being detected when my monitor will not function? Was pressing f10 supposed to possibly make the monitor turn on? In a last ditch effort to try and further identify the problem, I re installed my old drive. Before replacing it my computer would begin to boot then display a hard error that would not allow me to continue booting and run Windows. My display would still work but I could not run Windows. After re installing the drive the monitor will not turn on. I'm beginning to think that I have a bad monitor. Is there a way of testing this with out buying one? Where does the monitor connect to the mother board? I wonder if maybe its been jarred loose, although I highly doubt it, it may still be worth looking at. Thanks again for your advice.

Will a dedicated power supply work for playing games? i bought this system as used (excellent condition) just for Gaming Purpose (GTA V), now i am stuck with the PSU issue. I can alter the case to fit the big size GPUs, but the issue is of PSU.
Will ePower EP-450CD can help me in any way.

  • Replacement power supply for Airport N base station?

I'm in need of a replacement power supply for an Airport Extreme N base station.
Is this something I can pick up at a friendly neighborhood Radio Shack, or do I need to order the OEM part from Apple?
I don't need the automatic international voltage switching, just something that can power this puppy with US AC. Thanks.

    Tom welcome to the discussions.
I would probably call the Apple number.
    1-800-MY APPLE
I am sure that they can point you in the right direction.
I am a little shocked that one of the Apple Retail stores can't offer you a Power Supply.
If all else fails, it sounds like you have tried an alternitve, if it works use it, until you can get a replacment.

  • Need step by step directions to install a replacement Power Supply for a HP Color LaserJet 1215

I have a HP Color LaserJet 1215 printer that is only a couple of years old.  Had a power problem at home that burnt out the power supplies of two HP Towers, a DSL Modem, and (I think) the power supply of my printer.  I have located a replacement power supply but would sure appreciate any one that would know how to replace.  I need a step by step guide aas to how to perform such a task.
It would also help to have a diagram of the printer showing precisely how to get to the power supply.
Thanks in advance for any and all help.  I have spent days looking for this information and can't seem to find any.

  • Replaced power supply same problem

took my imac g5 to apple store where genius told me it needed a new power supply because machine would not turn on and when it did just to gray apple screen Even though the serial number was in the range for extended repair program, i was told mine was to old and did not fall under any repair program. I replaced power supply same issue of gray/white apple screen and fan kicks on loud. reset pram, reset smu, checked diagnostic led lights 1,2,3 all light as they should. Cannot start up with discs either. Anyone with any ideas it would be much appreciated.

What a bummer! If you can get hold of the reseller, go after him for legal discs, if you can't get him, call Apple at 800-767-2775 and they will send you an appropriate set for a nominal fee.

Where can I buy a replacement power supply for my time capsule?

Apple do not sell parts for the TC..
And do not allow their OEM to sell parts.
So you need to bypass Apple and create your own.
    Or fix the existing one.

  • Finding power supply that works for 6251 mega pc

Hi!  I just bought a 6251 on ebay.  The person said the unit was like new (ha, ha)..I asked questions about the power supply & was assured it would work.  Surprise, surprise...got it 2 days ago & the fan does not work (no spinning).  I tried using a can of air to get it going, but no luck.
The model in it is a enhance 2920.  I wrote to MSI...no help at all.  Can't find the fsp250-60ms model either anywhere stateside.  Is there any alternative?
    Thanks,
    M.

I end up in a loop going nowhere...one of my replies was the following:

I tried filling out the form & got nowhere.  My original inquiry was the following:

I am looking to buy a replacement power supply for the MSI mega pc model no 6251.  It is model no. FSP250-60ms.

G4 just replaced power supply , it powers up , but the screen is not on and the mouse and keyboard aren't on either. A few times the computer came on with screen working but then it froze up, can't do any type of reset cause of keyboard not working. Help! Pressed pmu button already,  nothing ,..  Ppc g4 Mac

Should I check the memory cards themselves? Reseat them?
    Yes.
Memtest X or Rember to test the RAM.
    Reseat is also good.
The iPhone 4 doesn't like USB 1.1 much.
after the update the computer was working well, except for this freeze when ever I connect iPhone.
I'd try USB 2.0 PCI. That's how I connect my iPhone 4s, and have connected all iPhones and iPods, to my G4.
    Never an issue.
Can't say the same for USB 1.1.......
The above (previous post) linked PCI card is cheap enough.
    Want cheaper, try this:
    http://www.amazon.com/Protronix®-5-Port-Controller-Card-Chipset/dp/B005JE2U82/re f=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1337472141&sr=8-2
The NEC chipset is the desired chipset, regardless of what OS the maker says is compatible.
OS X has native NEC chipset USB support.

  • Replacement Power Supply Fan Or Whole She-bang.

A few of you may have seen my posts here recently regarding upgrades. Well, good news is that they are all in and working...fairly well. There are a few hiccups that I will be monitoring in the next week.
Anywho, something that I have determined to be an issue is that the Power Supply Fan is, for a lack of a better term, pulsating. Its running at all times but in a distinct cycle it increases and decreases in volume. One cycle is about 4 seconds I would say. I was chatting with the support people at Sonnet thinking it might be the fans on the Dual 1.8GHz processor I installed, but it wasn't. When I determined it was the power supply fan, he said he had an issue previously and said he installed a replacement fan and its worked fine ever since.
Does anyone know if Apple still offers replacement fans for a Quicksilver 2001? Or where I could buy it elsewhere? I've checked online but only find power supplies.
The power supply brings me to another issue. I have pretty much upgraded this computer to the edge. Its a 340Watt Power Supply (i believe) and I am running 4 internal hard drives, 4PCI cards (two of them are hard drive controllers), a new ATI Radeon 9800 gfx card, and the new processor. All my plugs are in use and I have one of the plugs split off into two plugs for the SATA drives.
I figured the supply was enuff, and the computer is working and doing evertyhing I need it to - well almost, i'm having an issue where Quake 4 crashes itself and the computer from time to time but thats it. But I definitely notice the fan is running louder since upgrading.
Would it be advisable to upgrade the Power Supply? Is that even possible. Online I dont seem many power supplies greater than the one I'm already using.
Thanks in advance to any help posted.

    Ok.
I got a wierd problem. I am receiving the grey screen with the folder face icon while intermittenly flashing the "?" that its searching for the system folder.
So, i replaced both Case fan and Power Supply Fan. They are running fine and blowing air well. It turns out that the case fan really was the one that wasn't working well at all. It was dusty. The powersupply fan was dusty and I got rid of all the junk in there. I use the power adapters and they seem to be fine now.
However, after I put everything back together, thats when the problems started.
    So, to remind....
I have 2 SATA drives connected to a SATA controller. One of these drives is my start up disk.
I have an 80GB PATA drive in the original drive slot.
I have a 200GB PATA drive connected to a Sonnet Tempo Ultra 133 Hard drive controller.
I plugged all the connections back to their places the way they were before.
Once all the power cables and connectors were in place. I plugged the power cord from the wall socket into the back of the power supply. I pressed start and I got the grey screen immediately, then my 200GB PATA drive began clicking. And then the folder icon showed up. Then the harddrive stopped clicking.
I'm also not able to eject the disc drive.
I force shut the computer down. Unplugged the 200GB drive. Started the computer, and I came to the same grey screen. Still searching for folder. I shut down and unplugged the SATA drives because I still have the old OSX.4.11 system folder on my 80GB drive. Still, grey screen and search folder.
I shut down again and uplugged the 80GB and plugged in the SATA drives. Still searching for folder.
What should I do? I tried booting into Target Disk Mode onto my laptop, but it didn't work.
    PLEASE ADVISE!

  • What kind of Power Supply to buy for my Power Mac G5?

    Hello!
After trying several things, and poking around several forums on the net I have become convinced that my Power Mac G5 needs a new Power Supply.  My big question is how do I know what kind of Power Supply to get for it?
My computer is one of the last of the Power Mac G5's with Motorola chips; it has the dual 2.7 GHz processor core.  I know the install will be tricky, but I feel confident I can do it.
The Apple store doesn't sell these Power Supplies any more, and our other local Apple repair store said they'd have to "match up the serial numbers" in order to find a new Power Supply... but they also wanted to charge me $200.  (I'm a poor high school science teacher and would rather do it myself.)
Any words of wisdom/explanations on how to find the right type of Power Supply for my computer would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thank you both, Mac Man JW & Old Comm Guy!
My problem has been that the computer won't start at all.  When I press the button on the front panel, I hear the click of a relay (like normal) but then nothing happens... no fans spinning up, no hard drive spinning up... silence.
When I open the side panel and press the button, I can see that the 2 cooling fans twitch just a little bit but they immediately stop.  The only other thing I can see is that the red LED 7 light comes on, and according to everything I've read that light means 'contact an Apple representative.'
This started about 2 weeks ago.  Hadn't had any trouble before then... if there were any warning signs I sure didn't see them.
If you think it might be something else I'm definitely willing to listen!
Did you check the liquid cooling system inside your G5 for leaks? That can make your G5 not start up as well. Look at this link: http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powermac_g5/faq/powermac-g5-liquid-cooling -info-leaks-issues.html

  • POWER SUPPLY info needed for GRAPHICS CARD UPGRADE!!!

I have a HP PAVILION p6631p and ide like to add a graphics card, but I was told I had to upgrade my power supply.
The card I purchased is the SAPPHIRE RADEON R7 260X 2GB and I was told I need a 500watt or higher power supply.
I was looking at the CORSAIR BRAND power supplies and tried emailing them to help me find the right power supply, but they said they needed to know what type of power supplies HP use in this model PC.
I didnt know what to do so im hoping someone can help me out with this information CORSAIR is asking for so they can help select me the right power supply for my PC.
I been searching for answers for weeks. Hopefully someone can help. Thanks.

    KJonline, welcome to the forum.
You were told correctly.  You will have to upgrade the power supply unit (PSU) for the video card to work properly.
The PSU in the computer is a standard ATX.  I suggest measuring the existing PSU and comparing the measurements to the one you choose.
I normally suggest at least 500W, but 600W is better for future upgrades.  Here is a PSU that should work for you. It is 650W and is an Enthusiast series.  This means that it has all of the power that you will need.  It is 5.9" (W) x  3.4" (H) x 6.3" (L).
