Replacement UK power cord?

Hey all,
I've just purchased a second hand iMac G4, and got a dodgy kettle lead type power cord which seems to be straining the socket on the iMac.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a place I can pick up an official apple replacement cord? I've been able to find a £39 replacement mac mini adapter, which contains the same cord and I could go for at a stretch, but I'm sure they must be available on their own.
Any pointers appreciated

This ain't pretty (mainly because it's black) but does the job on my iMac G4 20" that came off ebay negat power cable:Maplin - on high streets in most larger towns.

Replace iMac power cord

I moved from China and need a new power cord to use in the USA. Where can I get a power chord that works with an early 2008 iMac. Online some seem to say I can use any generic cord, while others say that I need an apple replacement? I'm willing to get the real cord if needed but can't seem to find it. Just read this:
In UK, the same lead is used for electric kettles.
That's actually false, and if used the other way around actually dangerous.
First some terminology:
C13: the (male) connector on the cable side of a computer power cable
C14: the (female) connector on your computer
C15: the (male) connector on the cable for your water kettle
C16: the (female) connector on your water kettle
The relevant standard is IEC 60320.
I have to to warn against trying to use a C13 cable in a C16 socket. The C13 cable is NOT resistant the the high temperatures these devices use. The C16 socket prevents the C13 plug from being inserted in normal use, but some "clever" - not so clever if it goes wrong - modification might allow it in and might well cause serious problems such as a connector melting and shorting out as a result.
Using the C15 cable in a C14 equipped device is safe, no worries. Just don't use the computer cable for your water kettle.

Replacing a power cord in a different country from original purchase

Hello,
I bought my MacBook in Australia, but I have recently relocated to Germany. My MacBook is fine but the magsafe power cord is damaged and needs replacing.
Is it possible to buy a power cord here in Germany and use it with my MacBook, or do I need to use only an Australian issued MacBook power cord?

The adapter provided with the MacBooks is universal. You'll receive a different "duckhead" (the portion that connects to the outlet) but the adapter itself is the same. Keep the original duckhead & extension cord if they are undamaged as you can use them in your home country once you return.

Replacement imac power cord

Is any imac power cord compatible for replacement? As long as the plugs match ther receptacles on each end, there is no transformer and voltage to worry about, I think any cord will work as replacement. I couldnt find one on Apple store but there are several on amazon or ebay, thanks

Yes as long as the plug ends match and the wire is the proper guage it's fine. A Google search turned up lots of them.

Is the battery dead, or do i need to replace the power cord??

was using the laptop and had the battery fully charged, also with the power cord plugged in. laptop then apparantly went into sleep mode (took battery out, battery did NOT have any charge according to the charge level) left plugged into the charger and went right back to where it was before sleep mode
so i put the battery back in and it at that time seemed to say was charging, but an hour later checked the charge level on the battery itself and still seemed to say had no charge...

Go to Applications/Utilities/System Profiler. Select "Power" from the list on the left, and then copy and paste here what it says about your battery.

Where can I buy a replacement ipad power cord online?

The outer rubber part of my power cord is cracked open right near the spot where it goes into the computer. Obviously, from being bent when charging. It still works, but I am worries that it may stop in the near future.
I have the 3 year Apple Care plan. I was wondering if Apple will replace my power cord free of charge.

Take it to them for a evaluation, bring your machine also as they are tied together.
If not, then some white electrical tape should do the trick.

Moving Abroad - Power cord question

Hi,
I have recently moved to Spain and my lovely iMac arrived shortly after me yesterday.
And to be honest I've just realised that it won't be as simple as just changing the plug to use power outlets here.
What is my best course of action? Is it OK to continue using an adaptor? Or should I look into a new power cord that can be used here? I'm guessing I can remove the cord easily? If so can you point me in the right direction, I've tried looking on the apple store site for Spain but I can't find anything.

Modern Mac computers are equiped to handle a range of voltages, 100-240 v, and a range of frequencies, 50-60 Hz. All that is necessary is to be able to either use an adapter for the US plug for the European/other country socket, or replace the power cord. If staying for a period of time, the most elegant approach is to buy a new power cord with the correct plug. If your iMac has a detachable cord, try an Apple store and see if they have a cord they will sell you. The Apple retail stores can be found by going to the Store item in the upper bar on this page, or a specific product and then Locate Retail Store.
There is a store in Barcelona and a store in Madrid.

No startup with power cord in laptop it just blinks 2 times.

ok i replaced battery & power cord ,its charges fine now ,wene laptop is off , wene i go to start it up ,it just blinkes at caplocks and numberlock 2 times it will not start up unless i pull power cord and hit power button to restart then laptop comes on , and it works fine untill i have to charge it again ,i put power cord in and after less then half minute laptop acts like it goes into sleep mode . theres no video on screen but all the lights on panels are still on .im confused here help

you mean the power cord to your AIO pc ?
you can go to the store and get those to replace your power cord
if the cord is not the same you can order those at hp

Power cord or hardware

When I plug my power cord in, it charges, but the screen blinks brighter and then duller. The electric charge goes on and off. and off. The light on the bar at the bottom shows the battery and then the plug that it is charging on and off.

I REALLY wish HP would recall this power cord.
The power cord for my HP pavilion dv6700 has not worked properly since the day I bought it, I have the wiggle the cord around to get the blue light to turn on, same as many other owners of this and similar HP Pavilion notebooks. I used to have to keep the cord taped to hold it in the right spot so that it would charge, which is really pathetic. In the past week, it will not recognize the charger at all. Since so many others have had the same issue, I believe the charger is defective. This model is on the recall list for battery issues, but the barcode on my battery was not on the list of recalls. I've read so many other people have replaced the power cord numerous times which works only for a short period of time, so I really don't feel like investing in a new charger only to have it stop working in 2 months. I'm at a total loss of what to do.
