Replacement wired network card and driver for G4/OSX 10.3.9???

Does anyone know of a wired network card that will work in a Mac (with or without a driver) when the one on the mother board is not longer functioning? It seems that my built-in Ethernet card was fried in a recent electrical storm and I'm looking for a replacement so I can connect to the internet again. My cable internet modem and cables were replaced after the storm and have been determined to be in working order.
No theories, please -- I'm looking for a proven solution.

I found the Kingston KNE100TX (NB not KNE110TX) to be satisfactory in my B&W G3.
Drivers required and available from Kingston up to OS9. No drivers required for OSX. See

Thank you for your advises. Unfortunately I still cannot find the driver. On the canadian site i was able to download some files called "SD Format" and "SD Driver Set", but Windows XP didn't accept them. I have in mind that this is a 6-in-1 card reader, so it should support more formats then the SD. There are two unknown entries in the Device manager, both are called "PCI FLASH-MEMORY". When i started the notebook for the first time (with OEM Windows XP) the card reader worked. Now i have an own license installed which didn't come with the notebook. Could this be the reason? Does anyoneone know who is the manufactor of the build-in card reader?

Will Beige G3 SCSI card and drive work in a BW G3?

My wife's G3Tower died with data on the scsi hd. I've picked up a bw G3 (which on the serial # tag states Ultra2 SCSI), but no scsi drive is inside, nor is there a scsi card.
Can I take the SCSI card and drive out of the Beige Tower and put it in to the BW G3? Is anything special needed to be able to get the needed files off the disk?
I later plan to upgrade to Jaguar (I've got the disks), but the files come first.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
ps - I looked through Apple's faqs and kb, but didn't really find anything.

You can do that, but bootability will be a problem because the B&W G3 is based on the New World architecture or ROM-in-RAM. While the beige G3's ROM was wholly contained in the ROM card, some of the B&W's ROM code is contained in the Mac OS ROM file, which is written to the System Folder during the OS installation. The OS installation performed on the beige G3 won't have the necessary Mac OS ROM file. The file could be extracted from the installer tome on the Mac OS 9.x installer CD, but that would require the use of TomeViewer (downloadable utility). Do you have another working Mac in the house? Incidentally, what component in the beige G3 failed?

ADO Driver For Mac OSX?

Hey All,
I am working on building an application in RealBasic that will run on both PC and Mac. The app needs to connect to a MS SQL database. On the Windows dev side I would normally just use an ADO connection, but I haven't been able to prove definitively whether or not Mac OSX has an ADO driver (or supports that type of connection out of the box). I know I can use DSN connections, but I hate the idea of having to set those up on each machine the app gets installed on. Is there an open source, freeware, or inexpensive ADO driver for the OSX platform? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Network Storage Drive for Mac OSX and XP

Hi I am a new apple owner with a MBP 17 running OSX. I also have two other PC laptops in the house.
I have a Linksys G wireless router.
What I would like to do is to have a dual HD enclosure that I can plug into my wireless router so that I can share data between my MBP and my PC laptops via the network. I would like to use dual HDs so I can mirror them for back up purposes.
My question is how do I set this up so both my MBP and PCs can use the same HD to store/share data? Suggestions on specific hardware to buy would be welcome as well.

You should simply get a network storage drive like this:

you can attach to it a second USB hard drive for backup. If you shop around you'll get better price than directly from WD.
Or you can go for Mirra which in my opinion is a much better bet as it will automatically backup folders you want and sync them between computers:

TV Tuner Card and Signal for AVerMedia A323 Hybrid ATSC

Community, need a little assist. Here is my set up
TouchSmart 520-1070 w/
Windows 7 - 64 bit
Windows Media Center
AverMedia A323 MiniCard Hybrid ATSC
Cox Communications Cable
No cable box (straight out of the wall)
This is a replacement of my Slimline s5260F which contained a Hauppauge ATSC and NTSC TV tuner. I have input my cable and am attempting to tune my channels, however, following the scan for channels, the return is that there are no stations. I have attempted to set up manually on different settings to try and pick up a signal, but to no avail.
My previous card could pick up the analog channels as well as some of the standard HD channels for the big (CBS, NBC, ABC). Again, no cable box, just straight out of my wall into the computer. To my great surprise, that tuner card, even picked up some of the channels such as ESPN, CNN, Discovery (not HD, but still). I attribute this to the cable company actually having a digital signal into my home, but not having the box would keep me from seeing these channels. I really don't care if I don't see those with my new TouchSmart.
However, I can't even get a standard analog setup. It will pull down the guide in Media Center which then identifies that I have a Clear QAM digital signal. I run the channel setup and nothing comes back. All I get even on the non-HD channel is some of the audio and then just scrambled signal. If I go back an manually set up with just an analog signal, it doesn't change a thing, so I'm kind of at a lose. I have digital quality signal but no way to pick that up and I can go back to my standard analog channels.
Does someone know the work around where I don't have to: 1) lay out more money for an adaptor for my computer to decode the digital signal, or; 2) have to pay a cable company to install a cable box and start paying more money to watch digital TV. All I'm really looking for is to record a few shows from the major networks.

Installing Soundblaster Audigy 2 Z5 notebook software and driver for Vi

I am trying to install the software that came with my Audigy 2 Z5 Sound card for PC notebook computer.
I recently purchased a new notebook computer "Toshiba Satellite" which runs on Microsoft Vista. My prior computer
ran on Windows XP. The Soundcard software has no Vista drivers, only XP drivers.
I visited the Creative Lab site and downloaded the appropriate Vista driver for this product.
I am unable to install this?driver and get a message saying "setup is uable to detect a supported product"
I also get the same message when I attemp to install the original software that came with the sound card.
I would certainly appreciate any suggestions.

After restart, the bios test freezez in the final frazes, and force shutdown and restart, functions well again. The sound card is in while booting.

It would be best for you to open iTunes, sign in and view your account. If all the purchases were paid already instead of entering your new card information, it will give you an option for "NONE" as a payment method. Again this is not applicable of you have a pending charges with iTUnes

Network Card XP Driver Configuration

I've installed winxp home in Imac 17'', but it doesn't detect the network card.
How can I install the correct drivers? Does anyone know what is the card's label so I can download the drivers.

Configure / Enable network card, and DHCP on VMware Workstation 6

Hi Everyone,
I am newbie in Solaris. If you can walk me through steps by steps, I would really appreciate it.
Problem/Question: One main issue, No network connection.
Background:
VM machine 01:
I installed Solaris 10/06 first, it starts and works ok. However, when I tried to use the Update manager to update, it doesn't allow me to. It said something like "Failed" connection". However, it has normal internet connection, and it is just a litte slow, but internet connection works ok.
VM machine 02:
I installed the most recent distro: Solaris 10 8/07. The installation process went fine. I selected "Network" and connect to "DHCP" at the installation process just like "VM Machine 01". And the installation went through fine too.
The problem comes after the installation and it starts to reboot, and trying to get a IP address.
The boot screen said something like IP 192.168.XXX.XXX has the same Mac Address XX XX XX XX XX XX on pcn01
This error message pops up 4x or so, it then took me back to end section of the installation screen where it asked me if the computer is connected to "Network" and "no Network", and installed the new protocol "IPv6"...
Since I got the error message, I selected "No Network", and it didn't take me to "DHCP" page. Then, the system started fine, but no network connection.
What interesting and wired is that, "Connect Properites" of the PCN01, it shows that it has an IP address, and try to transfer data. Unfortunately, nothing comes up.
On a post from VMware, it mentioned that SUSE Linux sometimes has this problem with the network identifier and mac address is being the same. And it suggested to do some manual changes.

do you have dhcpcd installed? nm 0.7 uses dhcpcd instead of dhclient by default, so it seems there is something wrong with that.
oh and !dhcp can be removed from INTERFACES aswell, what does that even do?
as i said above, the things i mentioned before weren't fixes for your problem, so it's no wonder they didn't solve your problem
they were just cleanups for your networking stuff and to make nm really do the part it is supposed to.

As far as I know, Lenovo offers no way to disable the whitelisting for MiniPCIe cards in the BIOS/UEFI firmware.
You may be able to find firmware that does this from a third-party, but I would imagine that installing it voids your warranty. At least until Lenovo-provided firmware is reinstalled.

Is GPIB-USB-B compatible GPIB card? if yes, which card and driver?

I have my codes written while I was using GPIB-USB-B to communicate with HP-4145 from my PC win-XP.
Now I want to use a GPIB card rather than the USB version.
1- Can I use a GPIB card without changing my codes?
2- if yes, then which GPIB card( and which driver) should I use?

Thanks go to Michael Ritzert for figuring out how to extract the firmware
from a usb sniff log. The log that was used is included
(file name is "ni-usb-b-initialization-log.txt"), as well as the perl
script for creating the hex file ("firmware_extract.pl").
