Replacing A Cloudy Sky with A Blue Sky

Can anyone suggest an easy way to replace a cloudy sky with a blue sky using Photoshop? I'm doing real estate photography currently, and I have to take photos on a cloudy day. My major problem is when I have trees in the photo that I need to replace with a blue sky. Thanks, Arnold

Those cloudy skies may have helped soften the sunlight and reduced any hash shadows.
Nothing screams bad photo like a photo taken with the sun at the wrong angle, like photos at noon when the bright sun is directly overhead and it produces strong dark shadows on the house you are trying to sell.
There was an article in PetaPixel about how good photos had helped sell a house in days when it had been on the market (with bad photos) for many months.

  • Replacing a cloudy grey with a blue sky.

I have Photoshop Elements 5, and Windows XP Home operating system. I am trying to replace a grey sky with a blue sky. I have "the photoshop elements 5 book for digital photographers" by Scott Kelby. He describes on pages 301-302 the steps necessary to replace the sky in a photo. I have followed the directions and have been unsuccessful. Obviously, I have missed something important. Part of the sky is changed and part isn't.
    Any suggestions??
    thanks

I don't have the Kelby book, but here is a way to replace the sky:
    1. Rename the Background layer to something else. This is needed to create the transparency in the next step.
    2. Use the various selection tools to select the gray sky. The Magic Wand should work well (you may have to Shift-click several times to select it all). Feather the selection 1 or 2 pixels and delete it, replacing the sky with transparent background.
    3. Create a new blank layer below the picture layer.
    4. Set Foreground & Background colors to blue & white respectively.
    5. Select the Gradient Tool with the Foreground-to-Background option. On the blank layer draw a gradient vertically from the top of the sky to the bottom. This will create a natural-looking sky.
    Notes:
You will get different results depending on where you start and end the gradient. You can redraw the gradient as many times as you wish on the same layer until you are happy with the result.
You might also try setting the Foreground & Background to dark blue & light blue for the gradient.
    See this example: http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=10lyUmQQJsbmZNTwW3yKLw2vJDIs30
    It's my house (I wish!)
Is this method similar to Kelby's?

  • Can I replace my optical drive with internal blu-Ray player?

Basically what the question says. I have a MacBook Pro mid-2009, and I'm wondering if I can replace the optical drive with an internal blu-ray drive.  I would want to be able to read and write to regular CD and DVD still though, that's a must. Also, if there is an internal drive I can put in, will OSX Mavericks support playing a blu-ray movie just because my computer can read it?
Thanks for any knowledge or advice you guys can offer!

    No.

  • Replacement of Superdrive with internal Blu-Ray Rewriter?

I have an older Mac (Mid-2007) and I wanted to change the pre-installed Superdrive with this Blu-Ray internal rewriter, http://www.aliexpress.com/item/New-Arrival-100-Original-Slot-Load-BD-DVD-Rewrite r-UJ-225-PATA-Blu-ray-disk-Burner/168556
But I believe that the Superdrive is 9mm, would this work, (as the drive is 12.7mm).
Any help is appreciated, Thank You

To my knowledge Apple Mac OS X does not support Bluray at all. There may be an aftermarket program you could use but I'm not sure.
Also I doubt you will find a BR drive that will fit inside the space allotted for the Superdrive.

  • Satellite A200-21t CD/DVD drive replacement with an Blu-ray reader

    Hi,
I have a Satellite A200-21t notebook that came with the mat****a UJ-850 drive.
My original drive isn't working anymore...
I'm planning to buy a new one, but i would like one that has a buit in Blu-ray dvd reader.
I heard that not all players work with Toshiba's laptops, so i would like some help to find a bluray drive that would work with my notebook.
    Two drives caught my attention:
the Panasonic UJ-120 and the Sony BC 5500A.
Do these drivers work with Toshibas?
    Does anyone has another suggestion?
Thanks very much for the help!

    Hi
    > Do these drivers work with Toshibas?
I think you will have to test it yourself.
As far as I know Toshiba didnt mention anything about compatible Blueray drives for Satellite A200.
The point is that not all drives are compatible due to different master/slave/c-sel settings.
Using not compatible ODD you will get an IDE #1 error message and the drive will not be recognized by BIOS.
But I read here in the forum that some guys managed to upgrade the own Toshiba units with a blue ray drive
Therefore Im thinking that youve got a good chance to upgrade it.

  • Screen Freeze With Light Blue Tint

    Hi,
I bought a refurbished 15" MacBook Pro from the Apple Store last August (2011 model, I think, running Mountain Lion OS X 10.8.3) and it's been fine up until the past week. Twice now, when the computer has been asleep and I've woken it up, the screen has frozen and has a slightly bleached out and bluish appearance and, unable to see the cursor when I move my finger on the trackpad, I've had to reboot using the power button. This seems to fix it, but I'm worried that it might indicate an ongoing or more serious problem.
Just to clarify, what I see is not a blank, pale blue screen, but the screen as it looked just before the computer went to sleep (background picture, any windows I had open), with a bleached-out, bluish appearance.
I can rule out accidental damage (it hasn't been dropped or had anything spilled on it, etc) but it has coincided with a problem I had with the MagSafe Power Supply. While I was using the computer last week with the supply plugged in, I looked down to notice the insulating layer next to the metal L-connector had split, exposing the wires, some of which had frayed. I switched off and disconnected the supply immediately, but can't say for sure how long the damaged supply was in use before I noticed the problem with it. Neither can I say for sure that the two issues are related, but this bleached-out blue screen problem first arose that day, although the second time it happened (this morning) I was using the replacement power supply which is intact.
Has anyone else experienced this? Luckily, my computer is still within warranty, so I'll call the helpline or visit a Genius Bar, but any other advice would be very much appreciated.

It's possible that it has affected to your computer, but it has nothing to do with the blue tint. Respecting to this problem, the first thing I recommend you is to reinstall OS X, holding Command and R keys while your computer is starting, so all the OS X files will be reinstalled and it should fix the problem if it's software related.
If it doesn't work, take the computer to the Apple Store because it could be a hardware issue. I have seen problems with some computers turning them on after sleep, but the blue tint isn't as normal as this problem

  • Replacing damaged original drive with new one.

Hopefully I've chosen the correct boad...  Our Pavillion dv6-2173cl hangs after showing the: wallpaper with the Taskbar fame and the Start button, Hp logo button and Date/Time. The cursor shows with the blue'busy' ring for several minutes then the whole thing 'freezes' necessitating the use of the power button on the case to shutdown.  This also happens in Safe Mode.  Hp Daignostics returned an error code of 9077j2-50e656-xd0021(7? sorry wrote it in a bit of a hurry, lol)-6ou103 for the drive test.  We can still get to the disk as a 'slaved' external drive so personal info, settings are available.  Since replacement drive is practically a given, I was wondering about just making the new disk a 'plain' W7disc.  So my questin is "Are the HP programs necessary? Or are they just 'Space Takers"?  I suspect an Overheating problem as the original drivr case has heat discoloration... Probable cause of disk damage... Right?  All we need is a working drive till finances allow purchasing a new computer. Probably Feb. or so.

That has always worked, I have never had it fail.
The only thing that I can suggest is to make sure that the key is correct.
The entire drive has to be deleted to create unallocated space on the entire drive. Just formatting it is not enough. After you create unallocated space let the Windows disc format it automatically, don't do it yourself.
Here is a tutorial that describes what I am talking about.

A place to download the ISO of most version of W7, if you need it.

  • IMac 21.5" boots to white screen with vertical blue lines/bars then locks up

iMac 21.5" (mid 2010) Intel Core i3 4GB RAM with Radeon HD 4670 boots to white screen with vertical blue lines/bars:
Then it locks up after a few minutes, at which point the screen changes to white with these blue symbol things all over the screen:
If boot to Safe Mode, it still has the white screen with blue lines/bars, but eventually loads the login screen and I can successfully login and get to the desktop, but even that has the bars/lines.
Eventually, after enough restarts or hard shutdowns it will boot normally with no video/display issues. I've run disk checks, did the SMC and PRAM resets, checked logs (that I know of), and have even taken it completely apart, cleaned it out, reseated everything, put it all back together, but no change. I've read a few other posts about similar issues (but not quite the same video issue as this) where people had the logic boars replaced or reinstalled OSX, but that didn't always fix it. Any ideas? Has anyone seen this issue before? Thank you.

    Is this a dead disk?
    Very well could be.
If you can not startup from the Hardware Test, in Safe Mode or from > OS X Recovery  as discribed in the Support article's.
Dig out the original Install Disc set that came with the iMac and do one of the following.
    1. Attempt to Repair the Hard Drive.
Start from your Mac OS X Install disc: Insert the installation disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    Click the First Aid tab.
Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
Select your Mac OS X volume.
Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk.
    2. Run the Hardware Test from the second Install Disc.
        1. Insert Disc 2 and Startup holding the D key.
        2. Select the Extended Hardware Test.
Then if you still can not get anything going, you need to contact your Local Apple Store or AASP and make a Service appointment.

  • What do I need to buy in order for my iPod Classic 160GB to connect with my blue tooth speaker

What do I need to buy in order for my IPod Classic 160 GB to connect with my blue tooth Ultimate Ears Boom speaker?

Upgrading RAM and your HD will give you some performance gains, but depending on what you are doing, it may not be enough. Your best friend will always be processor speed. This has a direct relation to how many cores and the speed of the RAM.
However, if you are unable to spring for a new computer, then the options of running more RAM and a biggger, faster HD should ruduce some bottle necks.
Here is a site where you can check out what your computer can handle http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/Apple_MacBook_MacBook_Pro/Upgrade They have some charts comparing speed gains with various components.
Are you using the track freeze option to manage the track count and subsequent demands on your machine?

  • How to replace typewriter (straight) apostrophe with typographic (curly) apostrophe?

I have a manuscript I got off the Internet that has a bunch of isn?t's and wasn?t's and the like—due, I assume, to some miscommunication between MS Word's automatic curly quotes and the ASCII limits of ISO Latin 1. I tried doing a find-and-replace to put typographic apostrophes in place of the question marks. Pages found the question marks and put typewriter apostrophes in place of them, though I'd carefully entered a typographical apostrophe ((opt-shift-]) in the Replace field. So I tried again, to replace the typewriter apostrophes with typographical apostrophes. Pages now replaced the few typographical apostrophes I'd manually entered with typewriter apostrophes. Well, at least it's consistent. So far as Pages, Apple's flagship word-processing/page-layout app is concerned, there's apparently no such thing as a typographical apostrophe—something that was understood, as I recall, by the original MacWrite 25 years ago. So do I have to go back to doing all my editing in TextEdit (which seems to be much better at text work than Pages), or can somebody tell me how to persuade Pages to take care of this trifling little task correctly?

Copy these two paragraphs into a Pages WP document:
    When you?re sleep deprived… parental control of baby?s sleep… meet baby?s needs consistently… respond to baby?s cries…
"Parents should recognize that having their babies cry unnecessarily harms the baby permanently," Commons said. "It changes the nervous system so they?re overly sensitive to future trauma."
Open the Find & Replace dialog. Enter Find: ? and Replace: ’ (opt-shift-}). (I.e. replace question mark with typographical apostrophe.) Click Replace All. It should say 5 Replaced. Check any of the replacements by enlarging the type; you’ll see an ASCII apostrophe ['] rather than the requested typographical version [’].
Then enter Find:  " (space-") and Replace:  “ (space-opt-[), and click Replace All. It will say 1 Replaced, meaning the quote mark preceding "It" in the second sentence (the only quote mark preceded by a space). Enlarge the replacement to see it clearly; it's replaced an ASCII " with another ASCII ".
So far as I can tell, Pages’ Find-Replace function can't tell the difference between ASCII apostrophe/quote marks and the typographical versions. Maybe it will once you turn on smart quotes in preferences; I haven't tried that -- but then of course you'd get smart quotes when you don't want them, for instance for something to be posted on an Internet forum, which often doesn't understand them. (The problems above and similar, often seen on the 'Net, are due to MS Word's having smart quotes on by default, so unaware users compose material with them and send it out over teh Interwebz, where they sometimes come through correctly, sometimes don't.)
Try the same experiment in TextEdit; you'll get the requested typographical versions. And so I did, then copied the text back to Pages. Like I said, kinda shoddy for Apple's Pride & Joy word processor. AppleWorks, by the way, does it right.

  • Replace one itunes account with another

I have the itunes application downloaded on my laptop but i recently made another itunes account and i want the new one to be on the Itunes application. So i uninstalled the application thinking that if i downloaded it again it would ask me for an account. Except all it did was restore the old account. I am wondering if anyone knows how to replace one itunes account with another. If you know anything that can be useful comment.

    Store > Sign Out
    Store > Sign In
All purchases remain tied to the account used to buy them, but you can authorize iTunes to multiple accounts and put protected content from up to five on your devices. Generally best to stick to one account if possible. More so once you get to iOS devices as managing app updates over multiple devices is a chore.
