Replacing a mini for a nano?

2 Questions: Is the sale of the mini dicontinued?
And if so, If I need to replace my mini, thats under warranty, and they no longer sell them will they send me a nano instead. They are the same price neways.

" you said apple is going to discontinue selling ipod mini but is that true?"
Well do you see it for sale in the online store? There may be a few left in the refurbished store, and I saw a couple still on display at an Apple store here in the UK today, but aside from that, the iPod mini is discontinued and has been replaced by the nano.

  • Replacing Ipod mini with New nano,

    Hi
I have purchased my wife to be a new Ipod nano (8gb), she currently uses an Ipod mini (6GB). We use the same PC & to keep both her mini and my 30Gb Ipod video. So she has to manually manage the tunes on her mini.
Now she has this new nano, she wants put the same songs on her shiney blue nano, but this as taken hers hours to shift through all 6000 tracks that we have collected in itunes.
So the question is, is there a simple way to copy the same tracks on the old mini to the new nano?

*is there a simple way to copy the same tracks on the old mini to the new nano?*
You can't copy from one iPod to another and since the old one is being managed manually then you've no original single source to sync from so I'm afraid there is no simple answer.
Something you might want to consider for managing smaller iPods with a large shared library is the option "Sync Music - selected Playlists". Syncing selected playlists is just like syncing your whole library only on a smaller scale and more "selectively". This is particularly useful when your library is larger than the capacity of your iPod. When your iPod is is set to sync selected playlists it automatically picks up any changes you made to that playlist in iTunes since you last connected. Anything you added to the playlist will be added to the iPod, anything you deleted from it will be deleted from the iPod. In other words the iTunes playlist and the iPod are kept "in sync". In future if you were to add another iPod it could sync to the same source playlist.
Open iTunes and create a playlist to update the iPod from, call it -My iPod Nano for example (the dash will position it at the top of the playlists in Sources). You can make it a smart playlist that picks the songs for you or just a normal one and drag whatever content you want to have into the playlist. Now connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. Choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting, you just need to make sure that the size of the playlists don't exceed the capacity of your iPod: Syncing Music to iPod

I currently have an ipod mini and itunes. I just purchased an ipod nano(3rd generation). I was wondering if I need to reinstall and start all over with itunes before connecting the new ipod? Will itunes sync itself up with the new ipod? or will all of my music be erased?

    Yes.
or will all of my music be erased?

  • Matias Armor for iPod nano

Well, I received mine today and despite a few minor issues, I think this is an excellent case. My nano fits very good in it an I have the Martin Fields Overlay plus on it as well, though this device does have screen protection. It does have a couple of flaws in my opinion, but they are minor.
    1) The included lanyard must be designed for a young teenager or something. I'm a 36¾ year old man... And I'm 6'1" tall... Putting this over my head looks like a choker chain... No thanks... I have other lanyards though.
    2) The click-wheel hole seems slighlty off center.. could be an illusion though because of the hinge.
Overall, I give this an A... where I gave the iSkin an A- and the zCover's re-evaluated grade is a C- because the click wheel is very difficult to use through it.
Finally, I have the case I will settle with. It is very sturdy and I trust it to safegaurd my nano from scratches and stuff. Those interested should check it out.. here is a link.

  • Echanger iPod mini contre iPod Nano

Je me demandais si Apple voudrais bien mÉchanger un ipod mini contre un nano??? Où pourrais-je m'informer de cela ou pouvez-vous m'informer?? M
    Merci
    J-M

You cannot exchange the ipod mini for a nano.
However, if you turn in your old ipod (at one of the stores), and buy a new ipod on the same day (at that store), then you get 10% off.

  • Corprate ID For Ipod Nano

Hi , I am studying Graphic at my secondary school in the uk , i have chosen to look at corporate identity of Apples 2nd gen nano.
I didnt know where to ask and i couldn't find contact details for apple .

I was thinking a A3 sheet ( two side folder and meet in the middle to create a booklet type effect ) with the nano in the middle on the front with the swishy trail effects ( either neon red green blue white)randomly in the background (black)( like on the advert and a hold for the newsletter and business card ( like a flap , if you know what type of presentation pack i mean ?)
So to clear things up because im not great with my gramma or spelling.

information on technology the nano has
Information on changes between 1st and 2nd gen

  • The replacement battery for Ipod nano true or false

I was tryin to figure out if it was true that you can't replace your battery in an Ipod nano unless you have good sodering skills or unless you send it in and replace it. Because I bought a third party replacement battery for my Ipod Nano, and it gave me the instructions to the normal Ipod. Then I saw a lot of discussion posts saying that you can replace the battery for an Ipod Nano, so I need to know if you can or can't.

    It is possible...
If you Google search for it, you can probably find instructions (with pictures) on how to do it. Basically, you need to use something (such as a tiny flathead screwdriver or a putty knife) to separate the plastic front case from the aluminum back case. Then, you can disconnect the battery that's inside of it and connect your new battery. Most third party iPod batteries recommend charging it completely before first use.
It is, however, easier to send your iPod in for service for a battery issue, and just have them replace your iPod for you.

To my knowledge, you don't need any exceptional soldering skills. I've replaced batteries in some older iPods, and needed nothing but a tiny flathead screwdriver that I use to do general maintenance on my saxophone.

  • Where can I buy a replacement DVD drive for a mac mini A1347

My mac mini is out of warranty and my toddler stuffed several discs into the drive slot.
Whenever it booted, it made a horrible ratcheting clicking noise, but couldn't eject anything.
I disassembled the entire computer, and pulled all 3 discs out with pliers. After reassembling, the computer works fine, but the DVD drive won't "catch" a disc and pull it in. I'm pretty sure some gear or something has been irreparably damaged, or that I bent it as I was pulling the disc out.
I've been having a difficult time trying to find a replacement drive to order anywhere.
Besides going with an external USB drive, does anyone know of the cheapest option for a replacement slot drive for the mac mini A1347. (AKA "mid 2010", AKA Core 2 Duo DDR3).
I don't want to haul it down to an Apple Store and pay a huge premium to have them diagnose and replace a part that I'm very capable of doing myself.
    -John

If your in the US then the ifixit link is a good option, in the UK the following is an option

However when I had to replace a drive in a Mac mini, I bought a bare drive off eBay.

  • Where can I buy a replacement power supply for Optiplex 9020 Mini Tower?

Where can I buy a replacement power supply for Optiplex 9020 Mini Tower?
I don't see anywhere on Dell's website to purchase this.

So far there is no replacement/upgrade PSU for Dell Optiplex 9020 MT from Dell.
Will a dedicated power supply work for playing games? i bought this system as used (excellent condition) just for Gaming Purpose (GTA V), now i am stuck with the PSU issue. I can alter the case to fit the big size GPUs, but the issue is of PSU.
Will ePower EP-450CD can help me in any way.
My main reason for changing PSU is to play my favorite game.

  • Does anyone know if replacement adaptors for ipod docks are available suitable for latest nano?

I have just got a replacement ipod and it's the latest 6th gen little square one with a clip on the back. This means it doesn't fit my JBL dock anymore - it's too fat.  JBL say they will send me a new set of adaptors but were uncertain that this new ipod would fit.
Does anyone know where to find an up to date set of adaptors for the nano and my iphone 3gs?
    Veronica

The iPhone is not user servicable. You can get an out of warranty replacement from Apple for $149. If you open the phone yourself, you forfeit the ability to do this.

  • Ipod Mini for Nano?

I bought the newest ipod mini about a month ago. Now they have come out with the nano. Is their any way that I can trade it in for a nano?

    Hey guys,
Same problem- I bought a new car last month, but now they have a new model. Think they'll let me trade it in? My dishwasher too.
Just kidding- no, but you can get some money for your mini on eBay. You'll take a loss, but maybe it's worth it for you.
    Hope that helps,
    -Matt

  • MINI FOR NANO

can u trade in 4 gb 2nd generation mini for 2 gb nano for free or at any cost under the set price please help

Not unless you are within the return and exchange period for the retailer that you bought it from.
Other than being smaller - both physically and in capacity - and more expensive, there is no reason to exchange it anyway, other than Apple being the king of companies that make us what whatever they crank out next - LOL!

  • My computer broke and I lost my ipod touch at the same time. Then I put all of my new music on my nano. Then I found my ipod touch. How do I get the music from the ipod touch to the computer and also keep the music I bought for the nano?

I have an ipod touch and an ipod nano. I also used to have a laptop but, it quit working and I no longer have it. I had all of my music on my laptop. So, I had to buy a new desktop. I lost my ipod touch at around the same time. I had all of my music on the ipod touch that was from my laptop. So in thye meantime I started using my nano more. I bought new songs on my desktop for my nano. Then I found my ipod touch. I would like to be able to keep both the somgs I have now on my ipod touch and the ones that I already bought on the desktop. What do I do?

    No.
All iTunes content on your iPod Touch should be in your iTunes library on your computer, and your iTunes library on your computer should be included with your computer's backup along with all other important data - stored on an external drive or some other external media used for backup purposes only.
When music was purchased on a CD, if the CD was lost and you returned to the store where the CD was purchased with your receipt, were you given a replacement CD?
    The same applies here.

  • Syncing Classic with USB killed docking station for my Nano

I have two libraries in Itunes, one for music and one for books. I use my Nano for music. After I organized a second library for books, I bought a Classic. It uses a USB cable. After my first hookup of the Classic, syncing the book library. The firewire docking station for my Nano no longer will connect that Ipod to Itunes. I can charge, but not sync. Is this a new feature from Apple or does Itune now only recognize Ipod thru the USB port? I can sync the Nano with USB, but I like the docking station

I do not think that your USB docking station is faulty. I use it all the time.
What killed my ipods (resulting in exactly your problem) was the update to firmware 1.1.2. I am on my fifth !! ipod classic (courtesy of technical support/ genius bar at the apple store) as they are not as solid as the older models and
may go wrong quicker, despite much more enhanced functions. Touch wood mine is working fine now.
In the mean time, you could try a hard/factory reset of your ipod:
    apple doc: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1339
Interesting may also be "hidden" ipod commands:
    http://www.command-tab.com/2006/03/30/hidden-ipod-commands/
    Hope you can sort it.
