Replacing a piece of m2v without recoding

I would like to put a new front end (title sequence) on a DVD piece I did 2 years ago. I have the m2v and wav tracks from that piece, but not the source material. I can build a new short m2v (with same or similar transcoding) for the new title sequence and match it to the old piece at some convenient "splice" point. Can I import both to Encore CS3, shorten the old piece by shrinking its front end, join them up and go to press without further transcoding (except perhaps immediately around the "splice")? If I can't shrink the original m2v in Encore, is there a tool to do so elsewhere?

because sometimes they are prevented from sharing such information? they don't know? could even require sending it 'out' to a repair center.
though with most electronics, there is only so much that can be swapped out, and even then a new unit and let engineering see what and why....  and maybe there is a defective chip, sensor or even shorting

  • Joining files without recoding?

I simply want to take some movie clips that are all in the same format, join them together (or take parts out) and save to one resultant movie file. For example, I like to use Photo Booth to record video journal entries. But I'd like to take a bunch of them, combine them and then save them to 1 file. Since they are all in the same format and type, I know it's possible to merge them together without recoding, but I don't know if you can do this in iMovie or not?
If not, is there a cheap program that can do this fairly quickly?

Thanks for the suggestions. I know iMovie can do what I want, but apparently not without recoding on export. And I was just looking for something quick and easy that would simply allow me to take a bunch of similar movie clips and combine and/or clip them without recoding.
Thanks for the Quicktime Pro suggestion. But after some additional searching, I was thinking about trying this one called "SimpleMovieX" which is apparently a better substitute for QTP. Are you guys familiar with it?

  • Replacing assets in the project. without losing chapter marks.

From a workflow point of view, this is not a proper way, but since I'm a mere hobbyist, not so much of an issue.
From PP I export an M2V file and an AC3 file, import those as assets into the Encore project, create a timeline, set my chapter markers, create a moving menu, render, great. No problem.
Then I decide to change something in my timeline, so back to PP, modify my timeline, export again and then....
    b Try to replace assets
but that does not work as I expect. (The manual and help file are rather abbreviated on these topics). Either I lose all my previous markers or I get a second clip right after the first one on my timeline, or - even worse - I get, after renaming files in Explorer, new assets on my timeline with the correct length, but cannot extend my timeline to reflect the length that is shown in the project window.
A second problem I have encountered is that there is no way to save markers, no way to replace an asset in a timeline without losing all markers and, after creating new markers, having them revert to the default names and forgetting all the previously set names and links. Effectively, you have to start all over.
What is the best way, once you have a timeline with chapter markers on them, to replace your asset?
    Any suggestions? TIA

This is not the first time I am re-thinking my work flow to match the way Adobe designed their software . . . conforming if you will.
Based on the way Premiere and Encore is designed, I think Adobe is expecting ALL changes to the video content to be completely ironed out, video set in stone, before adding chapter markers and exporting to Encore . . . as if adding chapters is part of the DVD burning process rather than part of the video itself. I have been around long enough to understand where that thinking comes from, but it is not very visionary thinking oh great architects of Adobe.
Conforming my work flow: (high level work flow)
    1> burn DVD without chapters
2> customer reviews the video content without chapters
    3> customer submits change requests
4> goto step one until no video content change requests
    ----- architectural divide ----
5> Still in Premiere, add chapters & export to Encore
6> Now in Encore, edit chapter text
    7> set the poster frames
    6> burn DVD with chapters
    7> customer reviews chapter information
8> customer submits chapter change requests
9> goto step six until no chapter content change rquests
This is the workflow I will use conform, but it is not the workflow I want to use. Two reasons:
1> I want my customer to have the convienience of using chapters during the video review process.
2> I do not want to put my customer through two aproval processes.

  • Is it possible to Replace audio in a video without re-importing and re-exporting ?

    Hi..
i have exported a video of 2 hours length..  Then i just feel i need to replace the audio with another audio file which has small tweaks in it..  Can i replace the audio in the video i exported without having to reimport the video into fcpx and re-exporting ??
can i do this ? is there a way to replace audio ? any external apps available ?
Do let me know.. Thank you !
    Regards,
    Arun Kanth

If you're set against reimporting/exporting: Quick Time Pro should accomplish what you're trying to do. It's a $29 license, but is much more useful than QTX and is a tool worth having if you don't already/

  • Best Adobe product for editing PDF, replacing English text with Thai without altering/recompressing images, graphics etc.?

I have an English language PDF, a medical device brochure, the content of which has already been translated into Thai (in Word). I want to replace the original English in the PDF with the Thai translation easily without altering any other aspect of the brochure, like graphics, images, margins etc. (No doubt I'll have to tweak line height, font sizes and paragraph lengths a little.) I'm unsure of what would be the best Adobe product for this purpose, e.g. Illustrator, InDesign or Acrobat (or something else), that would allow me simply to open the PDF, replace the English with Thai in an attractive Thai font (to be embedded), make minor layout tweaks, then save without any compression so the quality and colours of the original photos, artwork, and graphical elements are preserved. I've heard Office 2013 allows direct editing of a PDF but I'm not sure if it converts, alters or compresses PDF graphics in some way when first opening the file. Could anyone with relevant experience please advise? Thanks in advance.

Adobe's only offering here is Adobe Acrobat. However, I must say something. I have heard from many people who sought to translate a PDF in this way. NONE SUCCEEDED. PDF is not suitable for this purpose. Obtain the original, this should be part of your contract for translation. If this is impossible, expect to remake the document; Word is probably unsuitable for a brochure of this type, maybe InDesign.

  • HDD went bad. How do I replace HDD and reinstall OS without a recovery disk?

I have a HP TouchSmart tm2 with Windows 7 Home Premium.  The HDD is clicking and will not boot.  Error: Boot device not found.  I assume I have to replace the HDD but how do I recover/reinstall the OS without a recovery disk?  Windows was preinstalled and I have the product key.  Thank you.

    Hi:
You can order a recovery disk set by following the instructions at the link below.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00810334&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&sw_lang=&product=40...
    or...
You can download the 32 or 64 bit version of windows 7 Home Premium ISO file at the link below and use your product key to activate the installation.
    http://www.mydigitallife.info/official-windows-7-sp1-iso-from-digital-river/
You need a DVD burning program that will be able to burn ISO files so that the DVD is bootable. Burn at the slowest possible speed for best results.
Then install any drivers you need from your PC's support and driver page.

  • How can I batch replace audio in .avi files without re-encoding?

I have hundreds of .avi files that have two audio channels. One channel contains the audio from the original video footage, and the other channel contains speech-shaped noise that was added later.
I need to replace the speech-shaped noise with a different type of noise (multi-talker babble) without re-encoding the video and degrading its quality. I would like to be able to do this in a batch process if possible. Do any of you have an idea about how to approach this in Premiere Pro?
Some more details: each .avi file is about 2-3 seconds long, so I would need the replacement noise to be the same length as the original noise.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • Replace a rythmic audio file without re-sequencing

    Hi,
i composed a song with many variations including kick. It sounds good but the kick i initially choose doesn't work very well. How can i replace the file by another kick sound (without re-programming each sample...) ?
    Thanks a lot

How can i replace the file by another kick sound
Using the Drum Replacement feature is a good idea, and it's also a good idea to read about it in the manual (pdf, p. 252) and watch the Apple video ("Drum Replacer"). But it's also easy to get started with it, so I'll tell you how.
Select the track that contains the kick sound you don't like (I assume that this track contains the kick by itself, and not something else). On the Arrange local menu, select Track > Drum Replacement/Doubling (or press ⌃D). A dialog will appear. Press OK. Now you have a new midi track, containing a new midi region which corresponds with the original audio kick track you selected. The Library is open, and a list of kick sounds is displayed. You can press the down arrow to navigate through those sounds to find one you like.

  • Replacing HDD from startup disk without backup or clone

    Hi,
My HDD died recently and I am about to replace it, however all the info I have found says I need to backup or clone my current drive to an external drive etc. Is it possible to install Mac OS on a brand new HDD from the startup disk without a backup or clone?
    Thanks

Yes, if you have the original OS X disks that came with the system or a retail version of OS X you can install as if it's a new system. You do not have to install from a backup or clone.

  • Need older STB's replaced with newer STB's without being changed $40 per box

I've been a FIOS customer for more than 6 years and I just signed up for another 2 years and my prices increased through normal price hikes and the fact that I upgraded service.
I have 1 multi room STB (6416) which is slow, hot, and doesnt have remote IR capabilty. My other 2 STB's are HD boxes and run very hot as well. I also cannot take advantage of expanding the capacity via eSATA since eSATA is not available.
My number one priority is to get the Multi room DVR replaced with a newer energy efficient 7232-P2 without paying $40 dollar upgrade charge.
Next I want my other 2 STB's repalced with 7100-P2. I think I pay over $500 dollars a year in STB rental fees for over 6 years. In my opinion I shouldn't have to pay for an upgrade.
Can someone here help me? I've called into tech support and the only thing they do is send a command back to the boxes and tell me everything should be ok after it reboots/resets.
All are running IMG 1.9 which was supposed to fix the slow channel delay/switching but that is not the case.
If I cannot get these boxes replaced I will go ahead and cancel with my 30 day window.
I have a local Verizon store that I would be more than happy to bring in my STB's and swap for the newer ones if that helps Verizon not have to charge me $40 dollars per STB
Thanks in advance from a frustrated FIOS customer

What is the $40 dollars forIf why pay $40 dollars and not get the latest models?
I guess I'll just cancel and take my business elsewhere. it would be cheaper for Verizon to replace my boxes and waive the fee vs me canceling after having to send techs out to install everything.
if you pay the 40 then you DEFINETELY get the latest 500 gb model.
if you do the free option I Was trying to help you with, then it's up in the air.  you will definetely get newer but whether you get the newest would have been the question.    A lot of us feel the same way you do about the charge, but there's not much you can do other than fight it out with billing supervisors unfortunately

  • How can I delete words from the "Replace list" on my Mac without deleting them in "Keyboard Shortcuts" on my iPhone?

I have scoured the internet but I have not been able to find a solution for this issue. It seems my "Replace list" and "with list", or "Keyboard Shortcuts" as it's called on the iPhone (Where to find it on a Mac ; Where to find it on an iPhone) migrated from my iPhone (iOS 8.1.2) to my Macbook (OSX Yosemite 10.10.1) when I logged in with my iCloud account.
I really, really don't want this feature on my computer but I do want it on my phone. However, whenever I delete words on my computer they get deleted from my phone and vice versa. Is there any way to disable this on my computer? This is what my settings look like now:
It seems like other people must not be bothered by this since I can't find anything about it online... but it's driving me nuts. And I've disabled autocorrect in my settings and for the programs I use but it happens no matter what. Is the only solution to this logging my computer out of my iCloud account? I can't believe there is no other way around this...
Thanks in advance for your help!

    Hi,
Of the items you have left in iCloud that are syncing the "Notes" one might be the most logical.
In some cases items in Accessibility can effects things like this but I see no obvious candidates.

  • Anyone been able to sync slides with a single piece of music without drift

Been trying to sync 54 slides to 5 minute piece of music but have not been able to eleminate drift.
    Has anyone?
    Thanks
    Jerry

I too had the sound synch problem....BUT came up with a perfect solution. I spent the money for a Quicktime Pro key. Then, export your Keynote program with all the automatic transitions, etc. as a QuickTime movie. Next, open it in QuickTime Player and also open your sound file in QuickTime. Do a Select All on your sound file and then Copy. Click on the Keynote QuickTime window and under Edit, choose Add Scaled. You can do it the reverse order too. Works flawlessly for me and has saved me many hours of frustration!

  • Replacing a win8.1 key without activating it

    Hi,
I'm working a laptop that have a bad key installed. (I'm assuming it was a flagged corporate key.) The owner of the laptop bought a legit key from a local retailer. I did a factory restore to reset everything on the system. Every time I try
to activate windows I get error 0xc004009 (grace time expired). Fine, I try to enter the new key, I get an error that I can't change the key until windows is activated. (the new key is an upgrade key for 8.1 pro). I've tried the activation procedures with
secure boot both on and off. I've called the activation number for offline activation and that didn't work. I've tried the different suggestions on this site and they didn't work. I don't want to go back the owner of the laptop and tell him that he has
to spend another $100 to get a 8.1 premium key just to upgrade to 8.1 pro. Is there anything I can do to force windows to take the new key without activating the OEM key? Any help will be appreciated as I've have already spent several days on this.
    Thanks

    Hi,
First, I have to say that we can't activate Windows 8.1 with an upgrade key for a OEM Windows 8.1 version. The activation method for retailed and that for OEM version are different. \

Would you please let me know what the preinstalled Windows version is of this computer, Windows 8 or Windows 8.1?
Do you have any recovery disc or partition with this computer? If so, the factory restore can be helpful without activation issue.

  • Is it safe/smart to replace your iPhone 5c battery without a professional?

A Couple months ago, I purchased a blue iPhone 5c. Everything was okay except for the battery life. Certain apps I use kill my battery. At any given moment, my battery percentage will go from 100% to 1%. Should I change the battery or buy a new iPhone?

Make an appointment at the genius bar and get the battery replaced by Apple (they will test it and tell you if the problem is the battery or something else).
Apple does not sell iPhone parts. It is not possible for you to buy a genuine, new iPhone battery to install yourself. You can buy stolen parts, salvaged parts, or counterfeit parts. That's it. If you attempt to replace the battery yourself, Apple will not touch your phone under any circumstances, either in or out of warranty, ever again.
