Replacing an phone - not a smart phone

I currently have a plan on which I have 3 smart phone with unlimited data. I have 2 non-smart phones. One of the non-smart phones is broken and I want to replace it with one I bought on e-bay. If I replace this phone will it effect my unlimited data on my smart  phones?

PHL, no worries, I can address your equipment change concerns. Your Unlimited data plan will not be affected or removed if you activate a device that you acquired from a third party.
If you upgrade to a new device with promotional pricing, the Unlimited data plan will be removed and you will be moved to a current data plan offered or the Share Everything plan. Have you seen our new Share Everything plans yet? Our new plans may work best for you. Check them out. Click http://bit.ly/xdDajD ^LH

  • HT204380 How can I make my iphone4 call my contact's email on her ipad and not her phone (which is not a smart phone) when both info is in my contact list

When I use my iphone4 to call a contact on her mini ipad it seems to use her phone number from my contact list and this is not a smart phone or in use where she is.  How can I make my phone use the e-mail address to call her on her wifi connection.

You're off base... I know what this problem is, and I provided the workaround for her.
Then why was the OP able to make the facetime calls before, with both items in a single contact then (if I am reading his posts correctly)?  I know I do not have to separate my contacts like that, and I do facetime with a couple of relatives with wifi only iPads (usually from my own iPad 4 or MBP, but I've done it once or twice from my iPhone 5 - all of which use the exact same contact entries).
Is this a quirk specific to an iPhone 4?

  • Smart Device but not a Smart Phone

Very sad to report after only a few months of owning my Q10 it is going back for a second internal (headset) speaker replacement.
With the upgrades to the OS being so promising it's awful this phone will be getting replaced if it happens again.
No idea how to speak to someone at Blackberry to explain what business people expect when they purchase a smart PHONE!
Anyone know how to get ahold of Blackberry so I can recommend they find another speaker manufacturer ASAP?

There are always going to be defects in any manufacturing process, if there really was a problem endemic to the phone then you could bet BlackBerry would already be aware of it.
You've posted here and while it is a peer-to-peer forum, occasionally BlackBerry employees will read the postings so you've done about as much as you can to bring it to their attention.
You could if you really want ask your service provider to escalate the issue.

  • How do I switch from a basic phone to a smart phone on the single line plan?

I currently have a basic phone on a basic phone plan. My contract expired ages ago, so I'm just month to month at the moment. I want to upgrade my phone to an iPhone 5c, and my plan to the single line plan--unlimited talk and text, 1GB of data. However, when I try to place this order online, it defaults automatically to the More Everything plans, which would end up costing me about $20 more than the single line plan for the same amount of data. I can't seem to change it to the single line plan. How on earth do I make the switch? O.o

Go into a Verizon Wireless Corporate Store and do it there.

  • Upgrading from a basic phone to a smart phone after 6 months?

Alright, right now on our plan we have two smartphones and one basic phone. We've had the basic phone for about 6 months, and wish to upgrade it to a smartphone. We also would like to switch to Verizon's "Share Everything" plan. Is there a way to do this without paying ridiculous fees to get out of the basic phone's two year contract?
    Cheers,
    Gordon

To expand on what tikibar1 has said, paying the ETF on the basic phone and starting a new line of service would only be helpful if you didn't mind getting a new phone # for the person currently on the basic phone.
However, if this is not a problem, the ETF on a basic phone is MUCH less than the price you would need to pay in order to receive a full retail iPhone.
The ETF on a basic phone is $175 less $5 for each month of your contract you have completed. Since you have had the basic phone for 6 months, your ETF would be $145. A full retail 16 GB iPhone 5(for example purposes only), on the other hand is $649. The discounted price for that same iPhone 5 is $199. So even if you were to pay the ETF and the discounted price on the iPhone 5($145 + $199 = $344) you would still be getting a ~$300 discount on the iPhone 5 from the full retail cost.
Additionally, the chances of being able to find a used iPhone 5(in good condition) for less than that price would be pretty slim.
If you wanted a different model of phone, your costs would of course be different and you would obviously have to weigh your options with those numbers.
    Good luck.

  • I want the contacts from my computer to sync to my phone not from my phone to my computer.

I have old groups that are still appearing on my iphone. I have deleted them from my contacts on my computer. How to I sync my computer to override the contacts on my phone?

syncing contact , calendars and email account work both ways.

  • Basic phone to a smart phone

So i still have untill April untill i can get an upgrade. So can i pay the termination fee and upgrade now with a new 2 year contract with my same number? And still get the iphone for $ 200? Thanks.

i don't think he wants to cancel the account, just the contract and phone but you're still right.
It's all semantics - paying the termination fee is cancelling the contract/account - it ends.  The only way a contract "ends" without closing the account is time, and then it just goes month to month.  And yes, Ann154 is correct.

Can you not make do with the Facebook app? If facebook chat is a must, try Palringo from Ovi Store.
What happens with your bank's website? I had problems with mine until I started using the D Pad for navigation then it worked fine.

  • Still getting conflicting answers about upgrading a line to smart phone

A the risk of incurring the ire of some people, I simply feel compelled to restate my question about converting a basic (existing line) phone to a smart phone after 6/28. My question is sincere not asked in a cynical way, and I am still unsure of the answer because of differing answers even within the official ranks of verizon. I understand all the elements of the 'awesome' new share plan (even though I prefer to avoid it for now). So, if anyone knows where to find the specific documentation that refers to this would you please offer links to said documents. Direct answers, even from people who Identify themselves as support personnel (here in forums) have as recently as yesterday, been shown wrong. While I offer thanks to anyone just for the effort of replying I would prefer authoritative responses, and here again, individuals have (as often as support reps) given accurate answers.  Simply stated once more I would like to know "When I need to upgrade my daughters phone In AUGUST, from a basic phone to a smart phone will verizon allow me to purchase the phone upgrade AND add 2gb data package for 30$". There would seem to be no ambiguity in the question, however in the face of opposing answers it just defies logic . The ONLY reason I am confused is because verizon reps have at been odds with each other. Documents are more reassuring and if anyone can offer links I would appreciate it. I have even considered acquiring a phone from outside vzw but had been told even that avenue would not allow me to add a data package to my EXISTING account. Truth oh truth how illusive thou be.
P.S. strictly for the sake of discussion, I will say that my viewpoint of the low quality of VZW customer service reflects this and other instances of inaccurate and false answers from this company. They just get it wrong too much to have a high rating from me even though others may have had different experiences.

Scroll down to "tell me more". Last question. "I have an unlimited data plan on my account. Do I need to change it?"
"You're not required to move to Share Everything but if you do, unlimited data will not be retained on your line. As a Verizon Wireless customer you have choices when you upgrade at discounted pricing. You can choose from a standalone data package starting at $30 for 2GB or a Share Everything Plan. If keeping unlimited is important to you, you can choose to upgrade and pay full retail price for the phone."
I imagine that this would be the same as upgrading a basic phone to a smart phone. You can add a data package to the line you are upgrading (that it currently does not have) and it won't affect the unlimited on your Droid's line(s). It's only when you try to upgrade the lines that currently have unlimited that you won't be able to keep the unlimited data. You can choose to move everybody on the plan to a shared data plan, or move to a tiered data plan. You just can't keep unlimited when you upgrade at a discounted price.

  • First Time Smart Phone Owner

So I'm a minority since I still have a regular cellphone and not a smart phone like everyone else has. I've always liked how the iPhone can do more than just make/receive calls. My question is this. Can I buy the iPhone, add the data plan and then if I end up deciding to go back to a regular phone? Will I be able to reactivate my old phone, and cancel the data plan without an ETF?  I know there's a 14 day return policy, but what if it takes longer for me to decide to keep or not? I'm not looking to cancel my entire VZ contract, maybe just taking the data plan off.

As nanna24 said, you can always revert back to another Verizon Wireless phone.  The easiest way is to use the "activate a device" option under your MyVerizon account, by first shutting off your phone (in this case an iPhone) and entering the MEID number of the old phone usually starting with A00000....  After that, you will be given options to change your plan, thus being able to edit your data package.  At that point though, you will still have the iPhone and cannot return it after the 14 day period.

  • Make a video call to normal phone, not apple device.

Can I make a call to a normal Phone that is not a smart phone ?
I need to make a call to my mom.
She has a normal phone. When I was using Samsun Galaxy S3, I could make a video call to her.
But, I don't know how to make a video call on iPhone 5.
    Can you tell me that?

Facetious me won't do it. Both devices need to be apple.  There must be an app that does it.

  • Can I transfer upgrade from non-smart phone to smartphone

We have a family plan.  With 1 smartphone and 1 non-smartphone.
non-Smartphone is eligible for new discounted phone now.
Smartphone is eligible for discounted phone in January-2013.
Can I transfer the credit from non-smartphone to smartphone and get a new smartphone?
And then in January get another smartphone with he original credit?
Can I do this without any changes to my monthly fees?  And continue with 1 smartphone and one non-smart phone on my plan?

Yes you can, there is a loophole to the system. Here's what you want to do. First, upgrade the basic phone to whatever smart phone you want, if it's a 4g phone you want to order 2 SIM cards, because the one that's sent with the basic number will be stuck to that number, so when you switch back the basic phone, with the original monthly charge, then you can keep unlimited data if you have it, AND have the smartphone to replace the smartphone! (Keep in mind you will extend the basic phone's contract by an additional 2 years if you do this) By the way, the reason you want to do this way instead of an alternate upgrade, AKA "transfer upgrade", is because you will lose unlimited data that way. There are three ways you can keep it. One, buy a Certified Pre-owned Device from Verizon, two, buy a phone at full-retail price, and three, buy a used phone from some other retailer or user (aka craigslist or ebay). This option falls under the "other retailer or user" because the other number "used" the phone. Good luck!
