Replacing and retaining scaled and cropped images

Hi,
For some reason I can't find how to replace exisisting images that had been tweeked or even images that have not been tweeked in Author. I have several similar images that needs to be scaled and postion in the same area from page to page. I import an image, scale it and cropped it, but once placed I don't know how to replace it with a different image. I tried creating a a template (another problem), but still no go.
*also, is there a way to create a job without using template? It doesn't seem to allow you it.
Thanks in advance...AG_779

You can have a master image on the right hand page in the layout pane,
and set it to be a media placeholder.(in inspector)
The image will be same size same spot on each page,
You can drag an drop to replace the image on each page.
The problem is, if the new image is a different size (pixels), it will change the size of the place holder frame to match the new image. it will not keep the size of the master image and crop with in that size.
It is best if you scale and crop each image outside of IBA in Photoshop etc. first,
then drag and drop on the place hlder for each page.

    The two are not at all the same. Paste involves copying text to the clipboard and then pasting from the clipboard. Place is an import operation.

  • How can I include a JSP, Maximized, and retain look and feel(WSRP)

    I have created a page group and defined a root page with a certain look and feel. There are two portlets on the page. Once the user clicks on a submit button, the portlet performs some action and includes a jsp included in the EAR file. The portlet needs to maximize the UI to display the jsp correctly.
    Once control returns back to the screen, the look and feel is lost and uses Oracle's default style. I have two questions:
    1. From the portlet, how can I retain the look and feel of the page group when referencing "external" jsp (i.e JSPs in the deployed portal EAR file).
    2. How can I "redirect" the user to the home page in a standard way? If there is not a standard way, how do I use the Oracle specific utilities to do it?
    All of my JSPs are developed externally out of the scope of the Oracle Portal.
    Environment - Oracle Portal 10.1.4 on Release 2 using WSRP to contact Oracle Release 3, hosted EAR file (WSRP Producer).
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi José,
    I don't think that is possible. But you can import the css files that ep uses for its look and feel and try to give your web pages similar look and feel. The tables and other controls used in EP are totally different and are done through complex JavaScript coding instead of simple HTML tags. If you want exact lok and feel then i thin you must go for a Webdynpro based application rather then a J2EE application with JSPs.

  • How to export photos from 3.5.1 library and import into 3.4 library and retain faces and location info

    i foolishly upgraded my imac to mavericks.  then a few days later when i opened my aperture libraries it asked me if i wanted to update them and that i wouldnt be able to read them in an older version of aperture. i foolishly didnt think much of it because i presumed that i would be able to upgrade my aperture application on my macbook pro. so now my mac book pro is virtually obsolete because it can no longer work on my photo files.
    I have since decided that i dont like mavericks because my imac continuously crashes, which it never did before i did the upgrade. so i have decided to
    revert back using an old time machine back up. the problem is that the back up that i need to use is over 3 months old because ive been away for 3 months
    taking photos and i did the upgrade when i got back home. i have now got 3 months of photos on the new 3.5.1 library that have all been processed, faces locations, edits and filed.
    so i now need to export them out then re import them into an old library but i cant seem to export the faces info.
    any help would be greatly appreciated.

    The Aperture "Preferences > Export" pane has an option "Include Faces Information in exported photos".
    Have you enabled this option?
    If enabling this option does not suffice, you could tag the photos in each "Faces" stack with a unique keyword. Keywords will be exported, and this would help to restore the Faces tags quicker, because you could create smart albums based on the keywords.

  • Converting from Photoshop v.1 to a current version and retaining captions and tags

    I have Photoshop Version 1 running under Microsoft XP.  The computer  died.  I need to move my pictures and equally importantly the tags and  captions that have have been attached to the pictures.  I have  downloaded Photoshop Elements 9 and I have been told that they will not  support Version 1.  I can move the pictures without any difficulty, but  not the captions nor the tags.  I also downloaded Photoshop 3.0 starter  edition and the captions will come over, but not the tags.  I have all  the pictures, the catalog file and the thumb file backed up before the  computer crashed.  I do have access to another XP machine that I can  load the older Photoshop Version 1 and restore my pictures, then can I  can backup these files and imbed the captions and tags in the individual  pictures?  Your help and suggestions are appreciated.  Thank you.

    Uh, are you sure you have Photoshop v.1?
    The first version of Photoshop that ran on Windows was Photoshop 2.5.
    Are you talking about Photoshop Elements? This is the "Photoshop" forum...you'll want to post in the "Photoshop Elements" forum...

  • Checking out graphics and retaining metadata

    I'm testing FCS and I'm wondering... Maybe I'm missing something.
    Is it possible to add metadata to an image in FinalCut Server,check out the image and retain the metadata in CS3 Photoshop? I can export and retain keywords, and add keywords in Photoshop and bring them back in. Just can seem to see the metadata unless it's exported as a PhotoShop or jpg file.
    -H

    Nicholas-
    Thanks for the quick reply. Basically I have a graphic (JPG) I imported into FCS and the metadata is all there. I add notes to the keyword field in FCS, However when I check out the graphic and edit it in Photoshop CS4 the added notes aren't in the keywords field in file info (only the original keywords). I add a new note in Photoshop and re-checkin to FCS and the notes added in PS are there.
    I'd like to be able to have the metadata be exchanged both ways. Note if I export the JPG the info is retained but that's a lot of work importing and overwriting of files.

  • Can't find Scaling and Mapping Express VI

    I have just upgraded from 6 to 7.1 and am going through the "Getting Started" booklet. On page 1-9, it says to get the Scaling and Mapping Express VI from Arithmetic and COmparison. I don't see it there. I used Search and couldn't find it either. Am I lookiing in the wrong place? Thanks, Peg

    I downloaded the example "scalemap.vi" and it cannot run because of the lack of subscaling.vi and configure scaling and mapping. It wants to look in scaleandmapblock.llb but that does not seem to exist. I've tried poking around on the Installation CD but I don't really know where to look. I guess I'll try reinstalling 7.1.

  • Scaling and Mapping Express VI

    Just learning my way around Labview 7 Express and working through the
    first example. On page 1-9 of the Getting Started with Labview manual
    there is a reference to a Scaling and Mapping Express VI, which is
    available from Arith/Compare on the Functions palette.
    My problem is that my Arith/Compare palette doesn't have this as an
    option and I can't seem to find it available under All Functions
    either. My choices in Arith/Compare are Formula, Time Domain,
    Numeric, boolean and Comparison.
    So I'm wondering if I'm the wrong place, or if I can search a library
    of Express VIs which it might be hiding in?

    Found it on both the standard numeric palette and on my express palette (has an icon depicting two yellow cubes):
    Functions -> Numeric -> Scaling and mapping
    Functions->Express->Arithmetic and comparison->Scaling and mapping (the path may vary depending on the palette setup...).
    However if you can't find it try searching for it. Click the search button on top of the functions palette and search for the VI.
    Could be that it only comes with some of the development systems, we've got the full developer suite, if you only have the basic e.g. it might not be included (?).

  • Cropping Images with Clipping Masks | Learn Illustrator CS6 | Adobe TV

    In this video you will learn a quick and easy method for cropping images in Adobe Illustrator CS6 and CS5. Using clipping masks allows you to retain the area of the image you cropped out as well as modify the clipping path later on.
    http://adobe.ly/V8tW7S

    Is there a way to make a clipping mask for a many-layered image without collapsing all the layers? I'd love to keep my image as is (it's quite complex), I just want to crop the entire thing.
    thanks!

  • Crop image using 2 clicked points on image.

    HI,
     I want to crop an image  based on 2 clicked points.
    For ex:
    this is an image to be crop:
    take 1st click point as center and 2nd click point as radius and crop that part as square and forms new image.
    And new image should be something like this:
     This is what I want.
    I have done getting center point using code below:
    OpenFileDialog op = new OpenFileDialog();
    ImageBrush ib = new ImageBrush();
    private void Image_MouseLeftButtonDown_1(object sender, MouseButtonEventArgs e)
    op.Title = "Select a picture";
    op.Filter = "All supported graphics|*.jpg;*.jpeg;*.png|" +
    "JPEG (*.jpg;*.jpeg)|*.jpg;*.jpeg|" +
    "Portable Network Graphic (*.png)|*.png";
    if (op.ShowDialog() == true)
    imgBackground.Source = new BitmapImage(new Uri(op.FileName));
    private BitmapSource CutImage(BitmapImage img, Point p1, int width, int height)
    return new CroppedBitmap(img, new Int32Rect(Convert.ToInt32(p1.X), Convert.ToInt32(p1.Y), width, height));
    double xAxis = 0.00;
    double yAxis = 0.00;
    private void imgBackground_MouseLeftButtonDown(object sender, MouseButtonEventArgs e)
    Point center = e.GetPosition(imgBackground);
    Point border = e.GetPosition(imgBackground);
    xAxis = center.X;
    yAxis = center.Y;
    ib.ImageSource = CutImage(new BitmapImage(new Uri(op.FileName)), new Point(xAxis, yAxis), 300, 300);
    CanvasPanel.Background = ib;
    XAML code:
    <Button Height="70" Width="70" Margin="6,1,892,929" Name="btnBrowseImage">
    <Image x:Name="browseIcon" Source="D:\WPF\Projects\TabControlVRI_18_12_2014\Images\img.png" MouseLeftButtonDown="Image_MouseLeftButtonDown_1"/>
    </Button>
    <Image Name="imgBackground" HorizontalAlignment="Center" VerticalAlignment="Center" Height="799" Width="799" MouseLeftButtonDown="imgBackground_MouseLeftButtonDown" Stretch="Uniform">
    </Image>
    I hope now question is understandable.
    Plz, suggest me the way to get this.
    Regards,
    Viswa.

    Hi,
    I want to do in WPF coding.
    I need to add that cropped image as background to canvas in WPF.
    User have to select image and he wants to crop image using 2 points then it has to reflect as background to canvas.

  • Crop images to frame not working?

    I searched the forums for this, but did not find a thread that directly addressed this issue.  When I export pdfs from InDesign CC(2014), and use the setting "crop image data to frames" checked on, but do not otherwise downsample or compress the images, the images are NOT cropped to the frame edges.  I found this out with the "edit in Photoshop" from the tools in Acrobat Pro (XI).  I have not tested with other settings for downsampling, as I don't want to downsample these images.  These particular images are scans from a copier/printer - bitmap images.  I understand that it does not work on vector data, but this is not vector.

    Do You have to use "crop" or can You use "canvas size"? It's easily doable with a small script. Something like this
    http://pastebin.com/r0EtBj1U
    Copy the content, and paste it in a document with a text editor. Save the document as "MaxCanvas.jsx", and run it via "File -> Scripts" in Photoshop; or via an action or "whatever". Works like a charm but i only tested in Photoshop CC on Maverics.

  • Guides, cropping, scaling and accurate video placement

    I'm disappointed with the apparent lack of tools to accurately place videos (pip) within a 1080p (or otherwise) sequence.
    I have a 1080p sequence, and four 720p videos that I want to crop and then scale and position to fit each quadrant of the final video - each PiP would be exactly 960x540 pixels.
    The crop effect is ok, but doesn't show you "pixel" units, only %. The Motion effect does show pixels but positions everything relative to the centre of the original video (after scaling)
    I would have expected the crop effect to change the bounding box of the video and maybe the ability to precisely define the size in pixels and zoom in percentage but no....
    Not that this matters of course because there are no "rulers" / "guides" or otherwise to snap to anyway so positioning would still be a pain.
    According to similar posts on the forum you can make "image based transparent guides" but these don't offer the ability to snap videos in place either and I like being precise - dragging stuff around on the screen by eye doesn't fill me with warm fuzzy feelings.
    I've worked around this issue using basic maths (essentially since I'm cropping to 1/2 the original videos dimensions I set the scale to 150% and just calculate the positional offsets using 1920*(0.5-%crop) and 1080*(0.5-%crop) and then adding multiples of 1920/2 and 1080/2 to define which quadrant I want the video in.
    Surely there must be a better way, rather than resorting to pen and paper?

    Then the track matte would come in.
    With a matte you can pick out any section of the frame.
    nest it.
    Set anchor point exactly on the top left corner of the visibel frame.
    Now you can positon the pip like in post 5.

  • Ease of rotating and cropping images in CS6

    There is much I like about the new crop: Rotating the image instead of the box is SO much easier and the straighten option is a great time saver.
    But in one instance, I'm finding cropping in CS6 to be harder: Cropping images that are not correctly oriented in the first place.  Rotating an image 90-degrees was a snap in CS2: Alt-I/E/0.  The shortcut keys are gone in CS6, so using the rotation command is no longer quick.
    But I can do it in the crop box, right?  True -- but not easily.  The image is landscape, the crop box is portrait.  With the crop tool selected, holding the shift key down to get fixed-increment rotations doesn't work: Pressing the SHIFT key changes the cursor from rotation to the crop cursor.  To get the rotation, I have to start rotating the image and then press SHIFT to get 15-degree increments.  A few moments later, I have rotated the image into portrait orientation -- and the crop box is now centered on the image, but it is set to crop the middle.  I have to drag the handles out to get approximately what I want: The full image in the crop box.  (What I want is what I would get if I rotate the image with the Rotate command, then control-zero to fill the screen, and then select the crop tool.)
    We rotate a lot of images.  It's easy to do in CS2 and the two approaches I've found for CS6 are both awkward.  The new crop tool has replaced the dual arrows in older versions (to swap the horizontal and vertical sizes) with a rotation arrow.  I think you should restore the arrows (and their function) -- then use the rotate button to rotate the image, not the crop box.  (Isn't that the design center for the new crop box?  We're moving the image, not the crop box.)

    Howard, thanks for the tip about the X key; didn't realize it worked that way when the crop tool is active.  But in this case I had set the crop box dimenions, so the crop box starts out with the correct orientation.  Having played with this for a day, I conclude that the best approach for this task is to restore the old keyboard conventions for image rotation and rotate the image before launching the crop tool.
    I stand by my observation that the rotate key should affect the image, not the crop box because that is consistent with the new cropping paradigm: We rotate the image, not the crop box.  I realize making a change this late in the development cycle is awkward -- but if CS6 ships with this behavior, it will become even harder to change later -- and the user interface should be as consistent as possible.
    Noel, you are correct: The images are coming from scanned film.  All frames get scanned with the same orientation.  I want to avoid the "Patient: Doctor, it hurts when I do this.  Doctor: Then don't do that!" scenario.  Granted: If images are "correctly" oriented, this issue doesn't arise.  But not all images are oriented correctly and CS6 should be at least as graceful in handling the task as previous versions.

  • Spot Removal Tool and cropped images

    When I crop an image and then decide I want to use the Spot Removal Tool I end up having to undo the crop before I use the Tool. Why? Because if I crop first and then use the Tool the selected replacement area often comes from outside the crop. If LR5 gets the choice wrong (it's not perfect, I accept that) then I have to undo the Spot Removal, undo the crop, guess what I need to Spot Remove, use the Tool and then Crop again.
    Can you fix this to ensure that the Spot Healing Tool only uses replacement areas from WITHIN the crop? Many thanks.

    What I do is to zoom out (usually 4:1).  Then move the mouse cursor outward along the direction of the line connecting the source area (not visible) and destination (visible) area until the mouse cursor turns into the hand.  Then I'll drag the source area back into the cropped image where it becomes visible.  Finally, zoom back in and move the source area to the location of my choosing.
    Hope that helps.

    16bit? Pixels extending beyond the canvas? (from a crop with delete unused pixels turn off).  Have you previously been saving PSD files?
    IME you sometimes have to tell Photoshop that the first save of a session is JPG, and it remembers from there on.  The way to 'tell' Photoshop that JPG, or PDF, or PNG etc are now your preferred format is to Ctrl (Cmd) click on that format in the Save As drop down list.  So long as the file does not have parameters that your chosen format does not support, then this should work for you.
    [EDIT]  Just noticed that you did include 'Crop' in the subject line.  Do you have 'Delete cropped pixels' checked?
