Replacing artwork in iTunes

Is there a way to replace album artwork easily in iTunes?
My sizeable iTunes collection has become a bit unwieldy of late - and in my 'house-keeping' I find I have a lot of old, low quality album art I copied from the Internet and dragged to iTunes.  It was better than nothing, but not by much.
Today, to replace album art I must go in to iTunes, click on the first individual song in an album, right click, click on "Get Info", click on "Artwork", click delete, click "Next", then repeat the process for every bloody song in the album.  Once clear, I can ask iTunes to search for updated artwork, or if I must add it manually, copy and paste to the entire album.
It's long and tedious, and I usually give up after 2-3 albums.  Is there a way for iTunes to do this for me?  Is there at least a way to delete all the album artwork at once for a selected group of songs, so I can replace them?
Fred

If you click on the first song on the album, hold down the Shift key on your keyboard, then click the last song, you can "Get Info" on multiple items. You can then change the art for the whole album at once.
Even easier, you can also work in Grid View:
Then you just click the album Click get info. Then change the art on all items.

My win8 pc hard drive failed.  After the hard drive was replaced, I copied iTunes Media backupfiles from external hard drive (Karen's Replicator backup software was used).  ITunes does not recognize these back up files even though the location is the same as cloud & recently burned music that does show- help!  The backup files consist of 34,000+ songs; almost all burned from my own CD collection.  I do have most of the songs on an ipod classic but hesitate to try to restore from that.  Can someone tell me how to get these 34,000 songs to show up in iTunes?  Thanks!!

This diagram shows how a typical iTunes library ought to be set out (click on it to enlarge)
The red outline highlights the media folder and its contents, the various subfolders are only created if that kind of content is in your library. The right-hand side shows the files that should be found in the iTunes library folder; sentinel is normally hidden so may not be visible. The core of your iTunes library is the file iTunes Library.itl, you need to restore this, the other library files and the Album Artwork folder, as well as the media folder, to restore your library.

  • Broken link icons appearing instead of artwork in iTunes store

    Hi,
For some odd reason, I see "broken link" icons, which look like a chain made up of three links, with the center link broken, instead of music album artwork in iTunes store.
Initially I see the album artwork, but then they begin to get replaced by the odd looking "broken link" icons ! quite strange.... this began happening after I upgraded to OSX 10.5.6, but I am not sure this is the main reason I'm having this issue, I tested some macs at the Apple store, which were running 10.5.6. to access the iTunes store, and this problem did not appear, so it might be something else on my Mac Pro that is causing this odd behavior.
Any other Mac users encountering the "broken link" icon when visiting the iTunes store ? Any clues ? or ways to solve this ? what could be causing this ? Any help/feedback would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • How do I download album artwork from iTunes on my Mac to my iPod touch?

I have album artwork in iTunes on my desktop Mac.  I want to have that artwork with my albums and songs on my iPod Touch?  I don't see an obvious way to move or synch the artwork, except possibly replacing all music on my iPod with what is in iTunes.  I don't want to do that because I synch with my office and home computers and the music is not identical on the two computers.

Thanks for your help, but I already have the album artwork on my desktop Mac (connected with its appropriate album).  When I synch my iPod (or simply copy the new album to my iPod), the artwork does not show up.  I could choose Synch Music, but that would then I get this message:  "All existing content on the iPod will be removed and replaced with songs and playlists from your iTunes library."  This would cause me to lose music place on my iPod from my home computer, which I don't want to do.

  • Artwork in itunes 12?

Why can't you control the view of artwork in itunes 12?

The iTunes 12 Get Info dialog lacks right-click context menus (at least for now) but it still accepts most standard keyboard shortcuts and drag & drop actions.
    Delete Artwork
On the artwork tab of Get Into, tap the image in question, use Backspace or Ctrl+X. Delete doesn't work.
Or, tap the image at the top left of Get Info, this time use Backspace or Delete, it is Ctrl+X that doesn't work.
    Add Artwork
Select artwork, press Ctrl+C to copy, tap the center of the Artwork tab, press Ctrl+V to paste.
Or, select artwork, press Ctrl+C to copy, tap the small image area at the top left, press Ctrl+V to paste.
Or, you can drag & drop to, or sometimes from, the same locations.
You can also copy artwork from the Get Info dialog to Windows Explorer with the keyboard shortcuts.
If the source image is on a web page right-click and use Copy Image rather than copy. (With Chrome I get a one pixel wraparound so tend to go for a temporary local copy anyway - not sure whose bug this is, but it isn't new.)
If you have multiple images embedded drag the one you want to be the primary artwork to the leftmost position.
    Replace/Remove All Artwork
The top left image box can be used to add or delete art from multiple tracks. In either case all existing artwork in all tracks is replaced/removed.
    Old Style Get Info Dialog
Select some items, right-click, hold down shift, then click Get Info from the context menu. (Use alt/option on a Mac)

If you still cannot add artwork via any of these methods then I would suspect a permissions problem. See Repair security permissions for iTunes for Windows.

Cannot install original artwork into iTunes.

+So i recieved my comp back after the second motherboard replace (we won't get into that one),+
That sounds like the noir household nightmare with our Gateway Vista box (we had to swap out/reinsert virtually everything else but the motherboard).

Let's try getting an installer log to the Apple Engineers with that one.
    1. Open a command prompt window. (Start menu > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.)
    2. Drag and drop iTunesSetup.exe onto the window so that the full pathname of the file is at the command line prompt.
    3. Type in a space, then the following line:
    /l*v C:\log.txt
    4. Hit return.
    5. The installer will create a log file:
    C:\log.txt
Find that file and send it as an attachment to this email address: [email protected]
in the email to Roy, be sure to include the following information:
    - A link to the thread on Apple Discussions where the issue is being discussed
    - The username you are using in the thread
    - The version of iTunes you are using or trying to use
    - the version of Windows you are using (mention service packs or specific flavor of Vista)
    - A concise description of the issue you are seeing

  • How do you delete artwork in iTunes

How do you delete and replace artwork?

Select the song you want to edit and enter cmd-I (or  main menu -> File -> Get Info)
Then - in the Information panel - click the Artwork tab.
         - click on the Artwork and press the backspace key to remove it
         - or drop a picture file there to replace the artwork.
You can also cmd-click on the song and select: remove downloaded artwork, if you do nor like the artwork you downloaded from iTunes.

  • I cannot delete embedded album artwork in iTunes 12

I cannot delete embedded album artwork in iTunes 12.  I download music from a service that sometimes has album artwork embedded, and I usually just delete it.  Then I add the artwork from iTunes with the "get album artwork" command.  But it only works if you can delete the embedded artwork first...and in iTunes 12, so far, I cannot.  So I am stuck with the artwork that came with the files...and it's not always good.  (Sometimes, it's even silly ads!)
In iTunes 11 and prior versions, I would highlight the songs in the album, right-click then choose "get info," choose the "details" tab, and put a checkmark next to the empty album art box for all songs.  That would delete the embedded album artwork.  You could also paste an image into the little box and it would apply to all the songs that had no artwork, to be sure they were all the same.  Alternatively, I could also highlight the songs in the album, right-click then choose "get info," choose the "artwork" tab, and delete, cut or paste artwork right into the larger pane.
Without the ability to delete embedded artwork, I cannot maintain my library the way I'd like to.  I even prefer the full album artwork to a "single" artwork, and so I even change the free iTunes downloads singles to the main album artwork.
Please help.  Does anyone know how to delete album artwork in iTunes 12?  I have a huge library and I want to continue to maintain it with the correct album artwork.

  • Problem with artwork in iTunes 7

Since i got iTunes 7 a strange error started in my ipod video 60gb(fully updated):
First, the ipod was not showing any artwork. Then i tried to uncheck the "display artwork" field, and press apply. Then check the field againd, and press apply again. It started to optimize my artwork, but by the middle of the process, this error happened: "The ipod "Flavio" cannot be updated. An unknown error occurred
(-50).". I started searching in the internet what could this error be, and found that it is a communication problem, or something like that, but could be caused by bad (corrupted maybe) pictures, photos or artwork. I erased them all (even all the artwork) and tried the uncheck-check process again, and the same error happened. I read that it could be lack of space in my computer, but right now there are 6.6gb of free space in my c: (is it enough?) and the error still happens.
Today i plugged my ipod on a computer with iTunes 6, tried the uncheck-check process again, and surprise, it worked! Unplugged the ipod, tried playing the only song with artwork remaining, and it worked too! So i came back home and tried again with itunes 7, but the error happened again, tried the song and the artwork wasn't showing again... Ok, so i tried with a laptop, itunes 6, and it worked perfectly again, then i thought "The problem can be happening just on my computer". Updated the laptop itunes, tried unchecking-checking again, and it seemed to work, no errors, but when i played the song on ipod, the artwork was gone again! Just like when the error happened... Tried again, no errors, no artwork, tried back on my computer, error, no artwork.
2 itunes 6 -> worked, 2 itunes 7 -> problems. The only possible conclusion is that there is a bug in this new itunes, or a new way of dealing with artwork (by itunes, not by the users). Am i right? Or can anyone help me?
I was thinking about restoring, but as i am adding everything by hand, nothing automatic, it could take a lot of time to choose everything again, and to make all the playlists again... And after seeing that this could be a bug, and could happen again, i decided to post everything here before restoring, to see if there is a better solution.
Thank you for helping! (or at least for reading this huge post, and sorry for my bad english...)
    Flavio

there is some problem with i tunes 7(the7.0.1 patch also) in that any artwork found by i tunes is visible whilst viewing tracks in your library if you transfer said tracks to your ipod then the artwork is not transferred, also it you use album artwork as your screensaver then artwork found by i tunes is not used. i can only think that something is not beeing written to the id tags of the tracks. any artwork found by yourself and dragged into the relevant box on the track or album information screen(called up by apple+i)is seen on itunes and by the screensaver. i have spoken to apple support and they assured me that they would get back to me as they had to investigate.that was a month ago. if the problem really bugs you then you can drag artwork found by itunes onto your desktop and then back into the tracks id screen. this remedys the problem but is tedious to say the least. hope this helps

  • Can't add artwork to itunes movies

    Hi,
I am using Video Converter Ultimate to load my dvd collection in iTunes movies.  The converter output is .m4v file.  When I add artwork to the "Artwork" tab of the Get Info box It will add but then I get a spinning colored ball and I must force quit iTunes.  When I reopen the move in iTunes the movie will not play.  The move is there but when playing the movie it is black (no video will play).  Any suggestions?
    Thank you
    VPH

The Movies are M2V formated, and have AC3 Audio (Have an AC3 Plugin' and Have Apples MPEG 2 component). So please can anyone help me get Artwork to my Movie in iTunes?
Sorry to say, it is not possible in this case. The ability to add/contain graphic "artwork" in iTunes is a property of the file container here. M4V and MP4 containers, for instance, can contain one such independent graphic. On the other hand, an MOV (assume you saved your M2V/AC3 data as an MOV) file cannot. On the other hand, your MOV file can have a "poster frame." If you are not a "purist," you can get around this problem by simply adding/drag 'n dropping your graphic to an appropriate point in your MOV file (I would recommend the end of the file), setting it as your "poster frame," and saving the file. In iTunes, this "poster frame" will now show up in your "artwork" display locations. (PS -- this is on a separate track as you attempted to do. In QT Pro, pre-position playhead to end of file and add JPEG track last so its layer is above main movie layer.)

  • Cannot copy and paste artwork in iTunes

Cannot copy and paste artwork in itunes.  Does anyone have suggestions?

First you need to open song info copy from or paste to the artwork box. It won't work with right click, you need to use the short cuts "cmd C" for copy and "cmd V' for paste.

  • Can't Paste Artwork in iTunes

Ever since I upgraded a month-and-a-half ago (both iTunes and Mavericks), I cannot paste artwork into iTunes files (movies/TV/Music).  Everything else works fine, but once I copy a picture into the file it simply doesn't "take".  If you reopen the file (Get Info) the artwork tab is blank.  Any thoughts?
    C.

It is a bug in the new iTunes release.
Paste has problems, but either of the following will work.
    (1)  Drag-n-drop (rather than copy/paste) the artwork into the box.
Or (2) save the artwork as a file.  On the artwork tab, use the Add button and point it to the saved file.
