Replacing audio in mp4 movie clip

For two days now I'm trying to find a way to easily replace audio track in my mp4 movie clip without re-encoding the whole thing. I found an answer how to do it in QuickTime Pro and some other software, but no luck with Adobe Premiere Pro or Audition or other Adobe CS6 Production Premium software which I own. Can somebody please tell me how to do it? Is it even possible
Thanks in advance.

Hi Kevin,
There is a way!  I just figured it out!
I have my extracted audio in the clip bin where it should be after I "edit audio in Adobe Audition."  I then unlinked just my audio clips with the track selection tool as they were on the same track.  Then I relinked the audio to the extracted enhanced audio file and BAM!  It worked!
Figuring this out just saved me hours possibly days of manually replacing these audio clips!

Try Mixing Down the audio before export.

  • Replace audio in multiple video clips at one time

Hello. I am new to the forum so I apologize if I break any of the rules!
I have a collection of tutorial videos, all edited but the audio had some balance issues. The files were not in Premiere Pro at the time. They are the final edited videos but then I was told the audio needed to be adjusted.
I have re-balanced the audio, saved the audio as wav files and now I need to replace the old audio (in the finished video file) with the new audio (the wav files I edited and saved). The timing is all the same. It's just a matter of replacing the current file.
Is this doable as a batch process? Is it doable in Premiere Pro or do I need to use Audition or some other Adobe software?
    I hope this makes sense.
    Thank you in advance!

  • Missing audio tracks when importing mp4 movie clip into adobe premier trial

I am trying to sanitize a movie clip by bleeping out the curse words in the clip. However when I import the clip on Adobe, I am missing 3/4 audio tracks; bringing the sound level way down. Can someone please assist me. I've been trying to fix it all morning!!

  • Replacing audio in QT movie doesn't change overall size of movie?

H-264 movie made for web distribution. My best video compressor only creates AIF audio files ... which are mighty big.
I made an MP3 audio file in Logic.
I replaced the original AIF audio in the Quicktime movie with the MP3 audio ... (which is 23 megs smaller) but 'info' says the QT movie is still the same size.
How can I replace audio track in QT movie (with a smaller size audio track ... and see the difference registered in the QT movie 'info'?
    All ears,
    Ben

Open your audio/video QuickTime file and then open the the Movie Properties window.
Highlight (single click) on the "Video" track and "Extract" (upper left of that window) to make a new video only version.
Open your audio QuickTime file, select all (Command-A) and copy (Command-C). This stores your audio track on the Clipboard.
Switch back to your "extracted" video track, select all (Command-A) and choose "Add to Selection & Scale" (Edit menu).
Test this file and then "Save As" to make a self contained QuickTime .mov file from these parts.

  • Extracted Audio longer than movie clip, please help...

I was reading some of your FAQ's about extracted audio being
recomposed with a mono instead of stereo for exported audio from a microphone or other mono device, and then importing it back into iMovie after mixing it in Quicktime, to make it stereo (albeit with only mono feed).
    My question is this:
I extract the audio from the clip that I am running, and it is fine and good while within iMovie, however, once I drag and drop it to my desktop, and open it with quicktime and either play it or export it as mono to get it to play through both speakers, it uses the original
length of audio not the edited version that i pull from imovie. It is very frustrating, and I am not sure why it keeps doing this.
While it is in iMovie, the audio and video match, and are synched. But, when I export it, for some reason, it exports the original audio from the unedited clip (which has already been deleted!), and I don't know what to do to get it to export just the audio clip as it stands now within iMovie.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Chris

Hi Aesthesia - that is a fact of life of non-destructive editing. When audio is extracted from a shortened, cropped clip, it actually extracts the entire audio from the underlying original source clip. You can test this by extracting audio from a cropped clip, and you will find that you can, by direct editing, extend it back to its original length.
That explains why the audio file when played outside of iMovie plays at the original length.

  • Audio of .mp4 movie files getting distorted by 1 hour mark.

I converted some of my fave movies from DVD to .mp4 file format that my iPod supports. After I did so, I copied several flicks in .mp4 format to my iPod. Each of those movies is at least 2 hours in length. But the problem with iPods playing .mp4 vids is after 1 hour mark of the video, the audio gets distorted up the rest of the movie. My friend with iPod vid also experienced the same problem. We found out that if the movie is in .m4v format, the audio of the same movie length is smooth and clear. This make me think that iPod videos has bugs playing .mp4 video format that has more than an hour in length. Ironically, when I play .mp4 format in Quick time and iTunes (in my PC), the audio is smooth. Does anyone have an idea about that? I appreciate for the answer. Really. Thanks!
AMD Athlon 1.4 GHz; 512 MB RAM   Windows XP Pro   My USB is not 2.0

I think  is the contrary because the clip browser copies all the foleders needed. I got this opinion from another forum that copies into Final Cut:
"My workflow is to create a hard drive folder for the project, then use Clip Browser to import the clips from the card. I review the clips, labelling them, adding logging notes, setting the status and putting in essence marks as needed (the number of characters available for the essence mark description is fairly limited). I then open FCP, create and save a new project then call up XDCAM Transfer. I select the project folder and it will pull in all the clips. I then filter for OK status, occasionally create subclips then import. The clips come over to the bin, with their names and with the essence marks converted to markers. Obviously there are backups taken - I've not mentioned them."

  • Audio Lost on movie clips

I had a 5 minute video that I edited down to about 3 minutes. The full 5 minute file has audio, but after I extracted the clips and play them together, there is no audio. Can anyone help me get the audio on the clips?

The .mov or .avi is a designation for a 'container' not a specifc format, and it can be in a variety of codec. Perhaps yours is a codec that iMovie 6 cannot read properly. You may need to convert the footage to .dv and then import into iMovie.
You can use Streamclip for this conversion: http://www.squared5.com/
If your original .mov movies imported and played fine, they should still play ok after you trimmed the clips. You did this by splitting the clip and deleting the unwanted parts? Did you make any other edits, add any other audio tracks?
Did you accidentally uncheck the sound of the track in the timeline view? Did you mute the sound in the video?
Did you use the 'extract audio' command?
Have you looked at the clips in the timeline view, selecting 'View' and 'Show Clip Volume' to be sure that the clip's volume didn't get put too low to be heard?

  • Extract audio from MP4 movie file to iTunes library

I downloaded a 5-minute movie, it's now sitting on my desktop as a mp4 QuickTime file, opens and plays fine. I want to turn the audio soundtrack of the movie (one complete song) into an mp3 in my Music library, so I can just play the song on my iPod without opening the movie file (I have an older iPod 60GB that doesn't play movies). Please advise, thanks

Open the movie in the QuickTime Player and Select Export -> Sound to AIFF.
Drop the exported AIFF file into iTunes.
Make sure the iTunes CD Import Settings in Prefs is set to the MP3 encoder.
Right-Click on the AIFF file in the iTunes Library display and select Create MP3 Version.

  • The audio in my movie clips drops out sporadically, How can I fix this?

I have a collaboration of video clips from a baseball game that I put together in iMovie 09. I added a background song to play over the clips, I have the (video) volume turned down for some of my videos so that you can hear the background music, but when I try to turn the (video) volume up to hear the cheering at the game over the music, there is no sound at all! If I pause the playback and resume it, I will hear the cheering in the video like I want.
Pausing then resuming to get my sounds to work correctly is tangible, but the real problem is that it cuts out when I am exporting to iTunes or YouTube as well.
    Please Help! Thanks!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Some times simply quitting any and all sound Apps (iTunes, QuickTime, any audio player) restarting often solves the problem.  An SMC reset might also work.
If the laptop went to sleep with headphones or external speakers plugged into the headphone jack loss of audio on wake can result. In future do not sleep with headphones or speakers attached.

  • Replacing Audio Track on iMovie 10.0.6 on Yosemite

I have a movie from a school concert (from a DSLR) that I have imported into iMove. I simply want to replace the iMove audio track with the TASCAM digital audio track that I recorded separately. In researching this on the web and here on the discussion posts it appears that I need to "detach audio" from the movie in iMove and then (somehow) import my replacement.wav file.
The PROBLEM is that the "Modify --> Detach Audio" menu item is greyed out - in fact most of the "Join Clips", "Split Clip", etc. menu items are greyed out.
How do I use these menus to replace the audio track in my iMovie clip?
Right now iMovie is just a "Quicktime Player" unless I can get some of this functionality out of "menu greyed out space" and into "useable function space".
    Looking for some basic guidance.
    Thanks

Looks like I was trying to detach the audio from the movie clip in the media library.......so iMovie is now much more than a Quicktime player!!! After selecting the movie clip in the movie project I was able to:
detach the audio from the movie using the Modify menu selection
drag and drop my replacement.wav file onto the "1/8th notes icon" as an audio track
since the movie and the .wav file both had the same audio, amazingly it looks like iMovie may correlated the audio tracks and lined my replacement.wav file up with the beginning of the clip (or I started the DSLR and TASCAM at exactly the same time which is statistically possible but not likely).
Excellent Job Apple - iMove works great.

  • .mp4 movie into iMovie

    Hello together,
I want to import a .mp4-movie clip to iMovie. I can play it with Quicktime without problems.
iMovie imports the clip but it's not showing any picture. I can only hear the background music and see a black screen. iMovie does not show any problem warning.
Does anybody know what to do?
    Thank you!

I'm having the same problem. Anyone have an idea?

  • Replacing Audio in iMovie

I want to be able to replace audio from one quicktime clip and have it play over the footage on another clip.
I thought it was as simple as copy and paste, which did not work. I had thought lowering the volume on the video footage clip I didn't want would work, but I do not want to play the clips in order.
I want audio from the first clip to take the place of audio in the second clip when the second clip is playing first.
My description is poor, but I hope it is sufficient to explain my problem.

iMovie '08 uses the "Command-Shift-Drag" key combination to pin the audio from one Event clip to any clip in the Project window. Once added, you can then adjust the audio levels as desired.

  • Creating video clips from MP4 movie

Can anyone recommend a piece of software that will allow me to capture pieces of an mp4 movie and save them as clips for use in iMovie projects?  I have converted some analog video Hi8 vacation movies to digital mp4 format.  The problem is that the end result of the conversion is a 60 min movie with no breaks in it.  I would like to select pieces of the movie, save them to a folder and be able to use them as video clips in iMovie projects.  Trying to work with a 60 min movie as opposed to individual clips in iMovie is proving to be impossible.  Any suggestions on how to do this would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

What you don't want to do is compress more than one time. So the best way to do this is choose file/export/QuickTime Movie... then choose use current settings and include audio and video if both are needed. Also check on "Make movie self contained". This is a single QT movie of your short videos... and it is of the highest quality possible. But it's a large file compared to what you've been suggesting. However... it will end up being compressed to flash and that final should look better because you didn't compress it twice.
That said, it's really making sense to me for YOU to make the flash movie directly from your edit station... You'll need either Flash pro, or Sorenson Squeeze or Episode Pro to do the best job of this. That way you're only compressing one time too.
