Replacing battery & motherboard

I need to replace the motherboard & battery in my 4th gen iPOD but the replacement parts did not come with instructions! Can anyone tell me how to open it & replace mother board?

I got the replacement parts from podotronics out of NYC, they recommended I send them the ipod to fix but I did not want to, thot I could fix it myself, I know the motherboard needs replacing because I told them what the prob was & they told me what the fix was. The ipod had been dropped in water but not long enuf to get water in the screen.

I just replaced the motherboard on our HP zd8000 (pentium 4, 3.0ghz, 2gb ram, Win XP) with a used but tested good MB and need some help with the following.
1) I now cannot play DVD movies as the error no "dvd decoder" present which was not an issue before? Where can I go to get a free decoder that will work, as Windows only shows paid versions? We have the dvd burner/reader with lightscribe. SOLVED! CNET HAD DECODER.
2) The internal temperature, according to SpeedFan, is running around 140 degrees with just some Internet browsing. Is that a normal temperature because I only have one of three fans running on the laptop? Is there anyway of making all three fans run to be sure there are no issues? I am positive I hooked up everything but again only one fan seems to be running?
3) I discovered some of the pins were damaged in the card reader. I may get the Seller to give me a discount, no intention of tearing it apart simply for that, but is there any concern of short or otherwise?
4) Our battery stopped charging years ago, these were notorious for such, but I purchased a new one last year and hoped the replacement MB would allow charging again. No such luck though. Is there anything I can do, BIOS update etc, to make the battery charge?
5) Anything you folks can think of for me to test to insure the new motherboard is working properly?

P.S. This was a correct replacement board according to MB serial numbers. Everything else seems to be functioning properly other than mentioned. Our graphics went out on the original MB.

Some of the wires had pushed out of the harness that connected the other two fans. I double checked and re-attached those so now the laptop is running quite a bit cooler.

Genuine Lenovo Replacement Battery Does Not Charge

After reading the number of people on this forum who experienced the same problem I faced (my T61p 9 cell battery went from fine to dead overnight), I took the advice of the contributors and purchased a new, genuine Lenovo replacement battery from a seller on e-bay. I compared the new battery to my original battery and here's the test results for each of the 2 batteries;

After charging the replacement battery overnight, the battery gauge never went above showing 24% charged. I unplugged the AC adapter and it went from 24% to its current level of 5% in about 15 minutes. After plugging the AC adapter back into the computer, the battery will not charge.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It is hard to be sure without seeing it, but best guess is that the battery charging circuitry on the motherboard has died. If you still have remaing warranty, now is the time to use it.

The new battery will become less effective if you store it in a hot or humid environment. It should be stored at room temperature (22 C).
Long term storage (6 months):

If you store a battery when it’s fully discharged, it could fall into a deep discharge state, which renders it incapable of holding any charge. Conversely, if you store it fully charged for an extended period of time, the battery may experience some loss of battery capacity, meaning it will have a shorter life.

Where can I buy a genuine apple replacement battery (A1309) for my Mid 2010 17" Macbook Pro? There are used batteries on ebay that don't appear genuine. There are some third-party knock offs. The apple store seems to believe they can replace it, but I have to make a reservation at the silly Genius Bar just to have them tell me how much it's gonna cost, not to mention then likely wait for them to order the battery and install it. I'm perfectly capable of installing it myself. I just need to know where I can order it?

Yeah, that's what I've finally decided. I was kidna super frustrated because the first apple store I called wouldn't even tell me a price or tell me if they could replace the battery without a Genius Bar appointment, and as I would have to take off work and drive acros town--and I don't have a car so I'd have to borrow one--that was pretty annoying. That call left me pricing linux laptops. I called another store to see if I'd have better luck, and the initial answer was the same, but the girl relented under some trying-to-be-nice-but-clearly-annoyed pressure, and she gave me the answers I needed: yes, they should have the battery in stock and it should be a same-day replacement that should cost $179.
It just *****, really, because there's so much about Apple that I used to love, and I'm watching it kinda melt away under their success in the mobile market. As a professional user, there's less and less reason to stick with them. Instead of being the best they can be, I feel like they're just trying to be flashier and just a little better than the other mediocre computer companies. Ugh. Anyway, now I'm ranting.

I have a zen 20gb (dap-hd005) i have had it for aprox 8 months and the battery has now basicly stopped working all together. when it is unplugged it only lasts for about 5mins. the creative web site doesn't help they don't even have this model on there anymore.is there anyone who knows where i could a buy replacement battery??thanks danib747

Replacing a motherboard on an HP Media Center m7490n

I purchased an ASUS P5LP-LE motherboard to replace the one I had since it was diagnosed as damage in a computer repair shop (fan failure error on boot). My question if replacing a motherboard is as simple as just replacing the parts from one to another or if I need to run or do any other procedure?

The BIOS is already installed on the motherboard_it is programmed in a chip. If you still have the old motherboard, you might try reinstalling it.

The replacement battery for Ipod nano true or false

I was tryin to figure out if it was true that you can't replace your battery in an Ipod nano unless you have good sodering skills or unless you send it in and replace it. Because I bought a third party replacement battery for my Ipod Nano, and it gave me the instructions to the normal Ipod. Then I saw a lot of discussion posts saying that you can replace the battery for an Ipod Nano, so I need to know if you can or can't.

If you Google search for it, you can probably find instructions (with pictures) on how to do it. Basically, you need to use something (such as a tiny flathead screwdriver or a putty knife) to separate the plastic front case from the aluminum back case. Then, you can disconnect the battery that's inside of it and connect your new battery. Most third party iPod batteries recommend charging it completely before first use.
It is, however, easier to send your iPod in for service for a battery issue, and just have them replace your iPod for you.

To my knowledge, you don't need any exceptional soldering skills. I've replaced batteries in some older iPods, and needed nothing but a tiny flathead screwdriver that I use to do general maintenance on my saxophone.

I am trying to order the correct battery replacement - and that information is not on the bottom of the computer or on the lithium ion battery. I have determined the original replacement part, but when I order that part number*, it doesn't give me a place to enter quantity and does list the alternative part number. At first my computer had issues. Once it go to sleep it will not back again. I dropped my laptop at apple store to fix it. After 10 days they returned my laptop saying they were no able to fix the problem so they replaced motherboard aiming if that might help. Acttually that didn't help.I had same issue again. I visited apple store again. This time they said they could fix, if I will allow them to format the harddrive. I said ok. They formatted it. It was working fine for few daysAfter few days compter is taking.even more than 15 min to shutdown. Now computer has another problem. It is being hang frequently like every 20'to.30 min.
I don't know what to do? I still have one month left on first year warranty. I have requested couple times to apple associates either to fix or replace or refund. They are showing me rude behavior. Contact Apple Customer Care - not Apple Care - Customer Support. Have your receipts handy and/or case numbers. Be patient, be calm, and tell your story just as you have here. I get the sense you are not in the US and don't have access to an Apple Store but are going to an independent shop. This makes using Customer Support all the more important. If phoning isn't viable, use registered mail.
Since time is running short, be prepared to purchase AppleCare to exennd your warranty 2 more years. Yes, you shouldn't have to do this, but it gives you added protection and more opportunities over the next 2 years to claim a replacement computer if you don't get one immediately. I got a replacement battery, reset the SMC, and my computer will still turn off unexpectedly.

Early 2011 15" Macbook Pro, 2ghz iz, C0*****F8V.
My original battery wore down to the point where it would not be recognized as available and the computer couldn't power on without shutting down in a few minutes. I ordered a replacement battery, certified Apple genuine, but after 3 days it reached about half charge and the computer died, not turning back on without the adapter. When it did reboot the battery was at 0% and not charging, and the computer was incredibly slow and laggy.
I refunded and returned this battery and got a new one. I've had it installed about 2 days and the computer will still turn off if not plugged in at about 80-85%. I have reset my SMC multiple times and my PRAM as well. coconutBattery says nothing is wrong with the battery.
What can I do? I'm a freelance video editor and this is basically calling me out sick from work for a week now.

Based on the reputation of the company, I personally would be willing to try their non-Apple branded replacement. I have dealt with them a fair amount, so my statement is from experience. Note that is has a 1 year guarantee as do the Apple batteries. ( I will need a replacement for my 2010 MBP and I will probably purchase it from them)

Where do I buy a replacement battery for a MacBookPro6,2

After 1504 cycles, the "Replace Soon" warning has shown up on my mid-2010 MacBook Pro. I am 100% capable of replacing the battery myself, however I can't find anywhere on Apple's website to buy the replacement battery. All it says is to bring it in for them to replace which is not an option for me at this time.
Does anyone have a SPECIFIC recommendation on where to buy a GENUINE replacement battery for my model? And please don't say "ebay" or "amazon".

I'm looking for a non-Apple, non-ebay, non-amazon source for the battery. My Macbook Pro is in use 12+ hours per day for school and work so sending it in for a replacement is also not an option. So strange how it's impossible to find this battery for sale from an online retailer. Macmall, OWC, MacConnection, PowerMax, SmallDog... nobody sells them. :-(

My battery only lasts about 8 hours on the suggested settings from Apple. I sent it in and they sent it back with nothing in the box, just the ipod. Incidentally they wiped all my videos and music and put on a whole new set of stuff. I called technical support and they said it was sent back because the battery is a software issue and they will no longer discuss any battery issues with me until I purchase Applecare. I called back and spoke to someone else and they again said 'I will not discuss this' and hung up. I don't really want to have to bow to purchasing Applecare from them, so where can I buy a replacement battery for my iPod please?

I did send it in and it was sent back and I was told it wasn't repaired because batteries are not covered by the warranty, only applecare. Now whenever I called up and give the serial number, they end the call citing the same reason.
