Replacing BC with SAP XI-URGENT

Hi Experts ,
I have a query related to a case in which we want to replace SAP BC with SAPXI.
The client is going for an upgradation from SAP R/3 4.6 c to ECC 6.0 and they have architecture like 4.6c--- BC-SAP Adapter--- Customized Adapters(Third party).
The customized adapters make synchronous RFC calls to 4.6 c through SAP Adapter and BC.
Basically MQ series flow is there between customized adapter and SAP ADAPTER which further updates R/3 through BC.
Now they want to upgrade from 4.6c to ecc 6.0 and replace BC with SAP XI without making any changes to SAP Adapter and customized adapters
Now my questions are :-
1) If i replace BC with SAP XI will there be any development changes required or it will be only configuration changes that can be done by BASIS?
2)Is it possible that Third Party continues to make RFC calls to XI and XI make RFC  calls to R/3.
3) In XI we will be configuring JMS adapter for MQ series or MQ series adapter.
4) What difficulties can be faced during replacement of BC with SAP XI ? What can be the impact of replacement?
I would appreciate an early response as this is very urgent.

Only some parts of the SAP BC can be migrated to SAP XI like xslt mappings

yes, 3rd party can make calls to XI and XI will make RFC calls to  R/3 calls using the RFC adapter in XI.

you will have to configure the JMS adapter in XI.

  • Is it possible to Replace faxserver with SAP PI.

    Hi,
    Current scenario which is running:
    ECC>Faxserver> Faxmachines
upgrade to PI by replacing fax machine:
    ECC>PI>Faxmachine/Faxserver
We have to send the message by dialling to the fax machine..
Right now, the file/message is sent from ECC to faxserver which inturn dial to the receiver fax machine.
Now we got a proposal of replacing this fax server with SAP PI. Is there any way we can replace this fax server with PI by using some custom adapter?
Does anyone done this kind of scenario?
Is there any custom adapter module we can write to handle in PI instead of using Faxserver?
I think this is not possible to replace?  Any suggestions please?
    Thanks
    Deepthi

    Hi Abhishek,
Thank you. I will check about the webservice with the vendors.
Meanwhile we got few small vendors whom doesn't have any other option other than receiving orders through Fax machine. So I'm just wondering is there any way we can send messages directly to their fax machine from PI (may be using Mail adapter)..
I was going through below link and looks like there is a way by using mail adapter...?
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/af/73563c1e734f0fe10000000a114084/content.htm
Exchanging faxes and text messages (pager/SMS) using SMTP is also possible. For this, faxes and messages are packed as e-mails. For the send process, the mail server analyzes the domain of the recipient addresses and either forwards the e-mails to an internal fax-/text message server (for example SMS=491759628717 at sms-server.company.com) or to an external provider (for example FAX=16105954900 at fax-provider.com).
    What do you think?
    Thanks

    Hi,
You could login to service.sap.com/inbox and then create a customer message using message wizard and send this to SAP. You can prioratize the ticket accordingly.

  • DB connect error  (MSSQL connectivity with SAP BI)- Urgent

    Hi all,
I am trying to connect the MSSQL 2005 Database to the SAP BI system through RAC.During the creation of the source System(DB Connect) it placed an error as
DIA RSA1 BY G No shared library found for the database with ID SALMSSQL.
Can someone please let me know how we can comeup with this issue?Where we can download LIB_DBSL.SAR and the process to load it into theDIR_LIBRARY default path as we are using RAC connectivity. This is very important. Please suggest me
During the process of creation DB connect source system for MSS what we need to fill for the Connection Info option i.e System IP or the IP of Database and which Databasetable
    DB Connection MSSQL
    DBMS MSS
    User Name sa
    DB password /
    Conn. info MSSQL_SERVER= ? MSSQL_DBNAME= ?
    Connection Limit
    Optimum Conns
    Will reward points.
    Thanks
    D

    Hello Dash,
Follow the below mentioned steps to create a dbconnect source system.
    1. Goto RSA1 -> Source systems. Right click and Create
    2. Give some name and description and hit enter
    3. a. Con Name : Any name (SQLSRV, etc)
    b. DBMS : MSS
    c. UserName : Any username which is present in the SQL Server. Eg: SA.
If you have to use Windows Authentication, there is a seperate method :
For windows authentication, you will have to add your Admin login of BI Server to the SQL Server Security logins group (For Eg: If BI Server name is BID and the admin login for this server is BIDADM, you need to add BIDADM to Logins/Users group of SQL Server and also for the specific database).
    d. Password : Anything.
    e. Con Env : MSSQL_SERVER=<sql server name> MSSQL_DBNAME=<database name> OBJECT_SOURCE= DBO.
    For Example:
    MSSQL_SERVER=ps14apollo MSSQL_DBNAME=PROJECTSERVER_REPORTING OBJECT_SOURCE=DBO
Here ps14apollo is my SQL Server name. Similarly ProjectServer_Reporting is my database name. DBO should be the Object_Source for most of the SQL Server dbs. I think it should work in your case as well.
    f. DB RECO = select or let it remain unselected.
    g & h Max Connections & OPT Connections = 0, for unlimited connections.

  • Replacing EDI subsystem with SAP XI

    Hi Everyone,
I have a scenario in place where i want to replace the EDI subsystem with SAP XI.
I know that using Content Master is one of the solution but i have also heard that Content Master is having some license issues. Now after Content Master what is the next best solution for parsing the EDIFACT and X12 format files.
    Thanks and Regards
    Rahul Nawale

    Hi Rahul,
SAP Conversion Agent by Itemfield is a data conversion system that enables you to create interfaces between any data formats and XML-based systems. The Conversion Agent can convert unstructured, semi-structured, and structured formats to XML, and the other way around.
Have a look at these links:
    /people/william.li/blog/2006/03/17/how-to-get-started-using-conversion-agent-from-itemfield
    /people/paul.medaille/blog/2005/11/17/more-on-the-sap-conversion-agent-by-itemfield

Seeburger EDI Adapter provides an EDI solution on internet via HTTP or AS2 to replace the expensive VAN. It provides some pre-built mappings for IDOC to ANSI X12(810,850,855,856 etc.,) and Idoc to EDIFACT(ORDERS,DESADV,INVOIC etc.,) and has the ability to build your own. These pre-defined mappings transform the IDOC-XML to EDI-XML format.
These transformed EDI-XML messages are then converted to EDI specific format using the Seeburger's BIC(Business Integration Converter)adapter. In addition, Seeburger provides adapters like AS2,FTP(EDI specific) and so on to route these EDI messages to external EDI Partners.
For more i would suggest you to go through these links:

    http://www.seeburger.com/fileadmin/com/pdf/AS2_General_Overview.pdf
Seeburger EDI Adapter leverages SAP XI's Adapter Framework. This Adapter is used to perform conversion between EDI and XML format. It also provides some canned EDI layouts and the ability to build your own. It is used to transfer the EDI message via HTTP or AS2 protocols.
The most direct way of using the Seeburger adapters is to configure the BIC as a module. There is a software component from seeburger called bicmapper which will allow you to do the following:
    1. define or import the inbound message metadefinition in various formats ( edifact, xml,...)
    2. using a mapping create an xml variant as the output metadefinition or edifact in the other direction.
    3. create a one to one mapping between input en output.
    4. export the metadata in xsd or sda format for import in XI.
    5. generate an SDA which can be deployed in XI and used as a module.
Please go through the following links which clearly explains what you want and it also helps you in understanding the same in depth:

There are also a few ways to use EDI with the ALE system of R3.
    inbound EDI to R3
1.use a 3rd party adapter for the EDI protocol(eg.SEEBURDER) from the EDI system, send the produced XML to the XI ,map the xml message to a matching IDoc using the IDoc adapter.
outbound ALE message from R3 to EDI system
    1. Configure the ALE system to point to the XI the relevant IDoc (SM59,WE21,WE20...)
2.use a file adapter3rd party EDI adapter and map the fields to the target structure.
have a look at this example:
    http://www.ean.se/EANCOM%202000/iftmin/example.htm
Details on how to configure can be found on SDN
    I hope this helps....

  • By mistake I ran Windows Backup/Restore with SAP services on  URGENT

    Dear all
What I did by mistake I ran Windows Backup/Restore with SAP services on (I stopped win sql services and SAP instance).
After restore under same circumstances I could not start istance (actually it started but after connect with saplogon dispetcher stopped).
When trying to restore 2nd time(with deleted AFGDATA1,AFGDATA2, AFGDATA3 , AFGLOG and usr under c:\ I realized I can not delete C:/usr directory (with subdrectories) as SAP services were locking some files. (i stopped services and deleted those files I have them in rcycle bin),
Can I somehow restore the system

    Hello Tina,
    - what is the status of SAP service? can you start it? If not, what is written in application event log?
    - If service can be started, are you able to start SAP system? If not, what is written in sapstartsrv.log, dev_disp and dev_w0, could you put output of them?
    - which files exactly have you deleted?
I afraid that the locked files were not backup and they will not be restored in this case. Further steps depend on what the files you have deleted.

  • How to use CMS Users with SAP BOPC NW 7.5

    Hello,
I have problems importing and using CMS Users with BO PC 7.5 NW.
I am trying two types of CMS-users
    1. CMS Enterprise Users created in CMS and using "Enterprise" authentication
    2. SAP BW Users imported into CMS using their SAP authentication "secSAPR3")
    but both don't work:
In the BOPC Admin Client, I can succesfully select Security->Users->"Add new Users". Both CMS "Enterprise Users" and CMS Users that use SAP authentication are displayed in the "Everyone" Group.
The CMS Enterprise Users are displayed as <username>, e.g. "Miller".
The CMS users with sap authentication are displayed as <SAPSystem><Client>/<SAPusername>, e.g. "KBE100/Smith".
Now If I try to import a user...
    1. CMS Enterprise Users
If can successfully import CMS Enterprise Users and add them to the ADMIN Team, e.g. "Miller".
The problem is they can't be used to log in to the Admin Client and Excel Client:
E.g. I enterUser-ID "Miller" and his CMS-Enterprise-password under password after starting Excel Client, an error message shows up: "The UserID, Password or Domain cannot be authenticated. Go back and make sure you entered valid credentials" ... (same error message as if the user wouldn't exist/wrong pw.).
Seems the user wasn't added as BO PC user. Or do I need to use any prefix before the "user ID" for CMS Enterprise users in the User_ID field instead of just "Miller"?!
    2. CMS Users which use SAP-authentication (users imported into CMS from BW and use SAP-authentication)
In the BO PC Admin Client, I can't import them: I go through "1. User Setup" select "KBE~100/Smith", "2. User Detail", "3. Assignments", but if I am in "4. Finish" and click on "Apply", the following error shows up:
"Failed to create directory \root\Webfolders\<AppSetName>\<Appname>" for "KBE~100/Smith".
My guess is that the operating system doesn't like the "/" in the Username - but I guess this can't be changed  bc. these Users from CMS and are already displayed with the "/" between SAPSystemID~ClientNummer and username in the User-list in BOPC Admin Client!
side remark: if I create a SAP CMS Enterprise user which contains a "/" in the username (on pupose ), I am getting the same error message.
Any help, explanations and workarounds are greatly appreciated - Any solution will be awarded with maximum points!
Best Regards and thanks a lot for your help!

    Hi Florian,
The problem seems indeed the file system on the bw not being able to handle "/". The automatic user import from the bw role into the CMC does not give you an option to replace the "/" character with anything else.
    This should solve it:
    - Go to the CMC double click the user. Delete the server part "KBE100/" and click save. Make sure the default system is set to "KBE100". The user should now be able to login from BPC with the user Smith.
    Good luck,
    Martin

  • Need some clarification on Replacement Path with Variable

    Hello Experts,
Need some clarification on Replacement Path with Variable.
We have 2 options with replacement path for characteristic variables i.e.
    1) Replace with query
    2) Replace with variable.
Now, when we use  "Replace with variable" we give the variable name. Then we get a list for "Replace with" as follows:
    1) Key
    2) External Characteristic Value Key
    3)Label
    4)Attribute value.
I need detailed explanation for the above mentioned 4 options with scenarios.

  • Integrating with SAP SRM 4.0

    Hi all,
I'm currently involved in an e-procurement project that will have to integrate SAP SRM 4.0 with the EAI solution of our company (webMethods).
As I don't know much about SRM 4.0 technology, I'd like to know the standard way of integration with SRM 4.0:
    - Is SRM 4.0 capable of exposing IDocs?
    - Is SRM 4.0 capable of invoking BAPIs?
    - If so, how can a Purchase Order put into the arguments of the BAPI?
    - Is SRM 4.0 compelled to talk with XML messages (particularly SOAP XI) or are IDocs and BAPIs a suitable solution?
    - Is SRM 4.0 standard output xCBL?
    - Can SRM 4.0 expose and invoke Web Services natively?
In other words, I'd like to know whether we are obliged to use the XI Content of SRM 4.0 in order to integrate with webMethods. We have already done integration with R/3 4.6 and we used IDocs with the SAP Adapter. We would like to capitalize on our previous experience and save us from having to assess the feasibility of an integration with SRM via XI.
Thank you in advance for all your answers.
    Regards,
    /ML

    Hi Marcel,
Underlying technology is WAS (Web Application Server) which is an enhanced version of the middleware BASIS technology used by 46C. XI is a replacement for messaging platforms like webmethods, so if you are using webmethods with SAP adaptor you don't need to use XI because you are already using a messaging platform. Only reason you may want to use XI would be if you can build upon the XI content available to you. If you are not interested in the XI content then go ahead and use webmethods using SAP adaptor to connect to SRM. I don't see any problem in that.

  • Follow-Up and Replacement Articles in SAP Retail

    Hi everybody,
Iu2019m using SAP Retail and I need to maintain Follow-Up and Replacement Articles.
Iu2019ve created the Follow-Up Categories in the customizing and Iu2019ve assigned replacement article to the original article in transaction WRFFUART.
Does anyone know how the subsequent process works? If I create a Purchase Order or a Sales Order to the original article, does the system automatically replace it by the replacement Article? Iu2019ve tested this but there was no substitution.
    Thanks in advance,
    SN

    Hi Barbara,
I am analysing the functions for Follow-Up and Replacement Articles in SAP Retail ECC 6.0 Ehp. 3. I created Substitution profiles (SPRO: Logistics u2013 General -> Material Master -> Retail-Specific Settings -> Settings for Follow-Up/Replacement Material -> Maintain Follow-Up Categories) and assigned replacement article to the original article in transaction (WRFFUART). I also activated Substitution Processing and Start Replacement logic in Background (SPRO: Logistics u2013 General -> Substitution Processing -> Activate/Process Substitution Processing).
I tested the process steps you posted (ME21N, VL10B, WSUBST_WORKLIST). There was no automatically substitution after creating the outbound delivery. And the transaction WSUBST_WORKLIST just shows u201CNo data available for selectionu201D.
I analysed the application and found the table WSUBST_WORKLIST. It handles the entries for substitutions. It was empty. When I fill the table manually with data and run the WSUBST_WORKLIST the outbound delivery and the purchase order have a new position with the follow-up article but the original article is still there, unchanged.
Why did the substitution not start automatically in background and why is the original article still in the purchase order and outbound delivery?
It is also interesting, that the material quantity changed. The purchase order includes five units of the original article and the substituted article has a quantity of eight. I guess the reason is a rounding value for procurement.
The ERP 2005 documentation on help.sap.com ([Assigning Follow-Up and Replacement Articles ERP 2005|http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_02/helpdata/en/a2/7c936660dc4da09a3a1d08ee7eeca2/frameset.htm]) describes a conversation factor for the units of measure of the original article and substitution article for each assignment. In the ECC 6.0 documentation ([Assigning Follow-Up and Replacement Articles ECC 6.0|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60_sp/helpdata/en/a2/7c936660dc4da09a3a1d08ee7eeca2/frameset.htm]) this is missing. In the system I also could not find any type of conversation factor for Follow-Up and Replacement Articles.
Is this option not available in ECC 6.0 or where can I find it?

  • Replacement order with vendor

    Hi experts
I have a question on if SAP supports an replacement order with vendor.
The scenario is the client could do a return PO with their vendor and then create another replacement order just to exchange the physical goods, there is no cost incurred for the replacement.
The thing is if we handle such scenario with one return PO + new PO, there would definitely by financial impact as in invoice creation, LIV, etc.
Therefore, would like to see if there is any SAP best practice / standard functions that we can make use of.
    Thanks and BR
    Dom

    hi,
Could anyone please tell me why PO with vendor unknown is needed ?
    > Its mostly required when you wanna raise the procurement in any urgency or if the person entering the PO donot have a right to directly send the PO to the vendor or in case the vendor is required to be decided when the PO is being made...
And what is the difference between PR and PO with vendor unknown ( If vendor is unknown , to whom should we send the PO then ) ?
    > When you save such PO, it is indirectly saved as PR only(internally), so there is no such difference physically....It not send to any of the vendor untill the PO is entered with the required vendor and send and saved as PO...
What is the process cycle if we use a PO with vendor unknown . I know the process cycle with Vendor known .
When you make such PO the system will ask you while saving with the tab " Save as PR" or PO with no vendor defined.....you need to click on it and save the PO as PR...

  • An issue using the COM components supplied with SAP GUI 6.2 or 6.4

We are having an issue using the COM components supplied with SAP GUI 6.2 or 6.4.  We used to have SAP 4.6c and now we have 5.0.  When we were on 4.6c, we used these COM components to logon and execute RFC calls and we had much success.  Now that we are on 5.0, we can’t seem to instance any SAP functions that have something to do with SAP Workflow.  We have experienced this problem when using VB6 or .NET, but our existing code that always worked is in VB 6.0.
    SAP Components used:
    o     SAP Logon Control
    o     SAP Function Control
    o     Librfc32.dll
o     Other supporting C DLLs and/or COM object supplied with the SAP GUI installation.
For example, if we want to call the RFC ARCHIV_CONNECTION_INSERT, this code fails in VB6 when the “Set objworkflow = objFuncCtrl.Add(strFunction)” line of code executes.  Instead of returning an instance of the object ARCHIV_CONNECTION_INSERT function, no object is created.  In 6.2, SAP raises no errors, but the object we are trying to create is still “Nothing”.  If we use 6.4, SAP raises an error “SAP data type not supported” via a message box and then the object is still = Nothing.  Interestingly enough, the 6.2 GUI COM controls don’t display the error dialog.  The message box that is shown comes from the SAP Function COM Object "SAP.Functions" (wdtfuncs.ocx).
Now, what is interesting is if we use the same code to call a standard function or custom function that doesn’t have anything to do with SAP Workflow, then the code works fine.  Again, all of our code used to work just fine on an SAP 4.6 system.
Here is the code that fails:
'SAP Logon control - object for creating connections to an SAP system
        Dim objSAPLogonCtrl As Object
        'SAP connection object
        Dim objConnection As Object
'Object that will represent the SAP function called
        Dim objSAP As Object
'SAP function control object - object factory for creating other SAP function objects
        Dim objFuncCtrl As Object
'Create instance of an SAP logon conrol
        Set objSAPLogonCtrl = CreateObject("SAP.Logoncontrol.1")
        'Create a connection object
        Set objConnection = objSAPLogonCtrl.NewConnection
        'Define connecion parameters
        objConnection.ApplicationServer = "sapvm"
        objConnection.SystemNumber = "00"
        objConnection.Client = "800"
        objConnection.User = "iissap"
        objConnection.Password = "tstadm"
        objConnection.Language = "E"
        objConnection.TraceLevel = 10
'call the logon method of the connection object
If objConnection.Logon(0, True) = False Then
            MsgBox Error
            Exit Sub
        End If
'Create an instance of the SAP Function control object
        Set objFuncCtrl = CreateObject("SAP.Functions")
'Set the function control connection object
        Set objFuncCtrl.Connection = objConnection
'Function name to be generated and called
        Dim strFunction As String
        strFunction = <b>"ARCHIV_PROCESS_RFCINPUT"</b>
'Create an instance of the function defined in strFunction
        Set objworkflow = objFuncCtrl.Add(strFunction)
        If objworkflow Is Nothing Then
MsgBox "Could not create object " & strFunction
        Else
MsgBox strFunction & " object created."
        End If
If anyone has seen anything like this or has any ideas, please help!

    Hi,
documentation on the Scripting API is available at ftp://ftp.sap.com/pub/sapgui/win/640/scripting/docs/
This API is a replacement of the existing, obsolete COM interfaces.

  • Replacing TAXINJ with TAXINN

    All SAP Gurus,
We are having the TAXINJ at present.
But we want to replace it with TAXINN.
Shifting from TAXINJ to TAXINN will be planned from certain date, say 01.10.2008
But after assigning TAXINN, we should be able to view all old documents which were in TAXINJ.
Is it possible to replace TAXINJ with TAXINN?
    Regards,

    Hi,
You have to complete the PO's has there may be problems occuring from the tax codes.
At the time of Invoice verification you may get a message that the tax codes are not assigned TAXINN.
you have to create tax codes for taxinn procedure also.
You have to assign the procedure to country
You have to assign the excise default condition types for TAXINN procedure
You have to create tax codes for TAXINN procedure
    Thanks & Regards,
    Kiran
