4300 booted, all drivers functional, everything looks good. Thank you so much for the help. I will now say this is solved and explain everything below.
Problem: After replacing CPU computer would not boot.
Hardware: msi 990xa GD55, replacing FX 4100 with FX 4300
Issue: Computer would not boot. Fans and Mobo lights turn on. No signal to monitor.
Solution:
FX 4100 (Core Name Zambezi) and FX 4300 (Core Name Vishera) required different BIOS configurations. Computer was built with Zambezi architecture and the default BIOS ran with no configuration. In order to replace the 4100 with the 4300, a BIOS update (from MSI website, BIOS 22.5) was required.
After installing the new BIOS via USB flash the system posted properly (into a much nicer BIOS.. UEFI maybe? Not sure, but it has a nice GUI). Am now running on the 4300 with no visible problems.

As a side note, for my new build I am looking at a dual Fury X and intel i7 4790k... I was going to buy an Asus Sabretooth Mark 1 but after the support I recieved here I would love to use another MSI. The problem is my build is colored Black and White, and MSI runs black and red. Are there any White and Black MSI Mobo's with socket FCLGA1150 architecture? If that question should go elsewhere please direct me.

You can upgrade to an i5 or i7.

Replaced CPU and system wont boot?

I am working on building a new rig but my old one hit a hardware fault recently. After extensive Hardware troubleshooting I have found that I have an issue with my CPU (L2 cache specifically). I have been trying to fix this one while I wait to get all the components for my new system. Anyways, heres the issue.
I had an AMD FX 4100, I purchased a AMD FX 4300. The motherboard is a MSI 990XA-GD55.(Edited, wrote P67A at first.. wrong mobo)
I pulled the old cpu and installed the new one (with thermal paste, pea sized in center, pressed heatsink to distribute).
Attempted to boot. The fans turn on, the lights turn on, but there is no signal to the display and my usb devices (keyboard, mouse) do not light up.
I pulled the new CPU out and put the old one in, booted just fine. Pulled the out old cpu and tried again, same problem.
I am currently running on my old cpu. It still works, I just get random shutdowns.
With the old CPU in place I booted to the bios, set to optimized factory defaults (even though I never did any overclocking), selected save and exit, then reset. Tried the new cpu, again no signal to video, no lights on usb devices.
Any Ideas?

HELP For Replacement CPU PowerMac (970 V.2.2) What is the correct model?

I have a question for you!
I have a PowerMac G5 (2003) with cpu PPC G5 970 (v.2.2) 2GHz as seen in System Profiler;
My Mac is a Dual processor, but one CPU is brocken and today it runs with only one CPU.
Now I want to buy the second CPU in ebay, to replace the second CPU broken, but I can't find nothing of clear in apple part number, in fact I Have a CPU 630-4890.
Reading service manual I think that I must search a 661-2901, but i don't know if this is correct!
There is someone that can help me in this choice?

Look at the model number like the other member said to do . But it you change out the cpu yuo need to re calibrate the fans on it . You need the dvd that will re calibrate the fans for the new processor . The apple service diagnostic disk or better know as the thermal calibration of the fans . Thats a must or I think you will burn up the new processor .
get a service manual plus the disk I told you about . Goto ebay for that .

Bluetooth issue after replacing CPU's

I have a G5 that recently had some work done on it. The CPU's where replaced to fix an issue with the fans running too fast. Ever since the tech replaced the CPU's the Bluetooth keyboard and mouse are sluggish. If I put the mouse more than a few feet away from the case it "stutters". The Keyboard has similar behavior. Here are the things I have tried.
* I have tried replacing the batteries.
* I opened it up and made sure the bluetooth card has the antenna plugged into it.
* I have swapped the card with one from another G5 and get the same behavior.
* I have tried deleting the devices and re-adding them.
I am at a loss here. Can anyone help?

The representation that this problem occurred subsequent to the service event in which one or more processors were replaced indicates that the party who serviced it is responsible for this issue. Why are you wasting your time attempting to correct it?
Return your machine to the authorized service provider who effected the repair, explain the problem, and ask them to correct it. Do so before your original warranty, AppleCare extension or 90 day coverage for this event expire.

Replaced CPU same LED error code for CPU problem continues to occur

I have a dv6-1280us laptop that does not start. I can hear the optical and HDD, screen is blank the number lock and cap lock LED blinks once between pause. The chart indicates that the CPU needs to be replaced. I replaced the CPU with a new one from HP. I still am getting the same LED error code. Any suggestions on resolving this problem. Thanks.

It's either a corrupted BIOS or motherboard problem. Since you've already replaced the CPU, the only other option is to replace the motherboard.

V890 rebooting after replacing CPU board

Hello,
We have a V890 that we had Sun replace a system board on it. It was system board a which had 2 1.8 processors on it. The original system board was replaced because the CPU's were running to hot. Well after the swap the server ran for 20 minutes and rebooted itself. Looking in the log files, all we see is the following message: unix: [ID 796976 kern.notice] System booting after fatal error FATAL Sys Hardware
Sun is coming out with a new board tomorrow, but I thought that I would ask and see if anybody had any ideas. I guess bad luck that a new board is bad?
Any special steps that need to be done after the installation of the new board like a boot -r?

Dear Riosjr,
According to Apple's service source individual fan failure has two causes: the failing fan itself or the logic board. You replaced the board, so in your situation where one of the fans doesn't seem to receive any electric power, look for cable damage or bend pins inside the connectors.

Replaced CPU ... still get CPU failure blink code

I have a dv7-4060US, purchased in July, 2010, so it's out of warantee now. About Christmas or so, it died on me, and the blink code at startup said that it was a bad CPU. I've got a new laptop now, so there wasn't any urgency to repairing the old one, so I didn't get around to this until last weekend.
I bought a new CPU for it, and followed the service manual instructions for replacing the chip, but after powering it back on, I still get the same issue - blank screen, single blink. Yes, the part number on the CPU matches the part number from the old one. Yes, it's inserted correctly in the ZIF socket.
Any suggestions?

It was the motherboard not the CPU. CPU failures are very rare; motherboard failures common. I don't put a great deal of stock in blink codes.

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement CPU fan for my HP mini 210-2170NR laptop?

My fan literally "shattered" -- the blades are dropping off the wheel as if it's rotting. Half of them fell off when I opened up the laptop and checked it. Ordered a fan from Amazon claiming to be 210 series compatible but it couldn't fit. Do you know of any sites online where I can order a replacement.

I put the install CD in and partitioned the drive. It booted up and i saw the window xp logo, it then started to install window xp a minute later shutdown. I tried it again and it did the same thing, it said it was installing windows xp and turned off again. What could be causing this. Do I need to change something in the bios?

i have a hp pavilion dv9205us that i really like, i'd like to keep existing motherboard and upgrade the CPU. what is the fastest AMD processor that i can upgrade too with S1 socket and my bios settings.

You can install up to a TL-64 but you need to be aware: 1. The laptop is very difficult to work on and open up. 2. It has a history of overheating and motherboard failure.
Google around a bit for HP dv9000 nvidia problems and you will see what I mean. If you are going to open it up take this opportunity to bolster the cooling system with copper shims. The good news is you can get a TL-64 for a few bucks so if you are technically inclined and approach it as a fun project it will be OK. Post back if you need any more help. I have actually worked on a few of these so have basis to make some recommendations if you really want to do this.

I need a replacement CPU fan for a HP Pavillion MS225 All In one desktop.

I have been told that the part is proprietary but HP no longer makes the part - and I have not been able to locate even a used or refurbished fan. How can this happen? The computer is less than 2 years old!!!!
