Replacing Dot Matrix Printer with a Laser Printer

I'm hoping to replace a dot matrix printer currently used to produce a 2 layer carbon copy form with a laser printer.  The source of the form is SAP. The length of the form varies between 1 and 3 pages. Does HP have a printer/paper solution?

  • Delay in printing with HP laser printer query

I use a I Mac as well as a Ipad and Mac Air.  My printer is a HP 1525nw laser printer.  My network is via a Time Capsule Router/back up.  When I print, there is a long delay before the printer starts.  The Imac printer app says it is printing, but it doesn't seem to be reaching the printer. My printer is connected to the Time capsule with a USB cable, but my computers are all connected via my Airport wireless.   When I check an hour or so later, the printing is usually finished.  Why the delay?  Any help from the Apple nation would be appreciated.

  • Firefox won't print with my new HP P1102W printer. The printer will print if I use IE8. Please advise settings tomake firefox print with my new printer

firefox 3.6.12 won't print with my new HP P1102W laser printer. The printer will print if I use IE8. Please advise settings tomake firefox print with my new printer . I spoke with HP tech support. We reinstalled all drivers. They adamantly say it is a Firefox issue and you should have some modifications for it.
When I try to print from the internet using Firefox, a dialog box pops up which says "preparing to print." However, it hangs and I have to manually shut it down. Doing this terminates the Firefox session, and it will not restore upon restart. This printer will print files on my hard drive, and if I use IE8, which I do not want.
    Thanks

It must be a Firefox problem, since it works perfectly in Chrome.

    Hello dekcanada,
I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on exactly what you are asking or describing. If you are asking how you would set up double-sided or duplex printing in Yosemite, you may find the information and steps outlined in the following article:

The problem is not the router.. the issue is the vpn has put your computer in a different IP range with a different gateway. When you turn off the vpn the computer returns to local lan and can print.
Some vpn software allows you to set gateway to use local net instead of remote gateway or access to other webistes or local lan.
    Read up the issue.

    Cisco vpn client..
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/239113
I did not search much.. just grabbed the first article I could find that explains the issue.
The whole point of the vpn is whilst it is connected your computer is NOT part of the Local Lan .. it is part of the Remote LAN via the vpn tunnel.
It is also a security risk using split tunnelling so often it will not be allowed.
Plug the printer directly into the computer via usb or whatever.. Local connection will work.. not local lan.

  • Replacing Oki Data Dot Matrix with HP Laser printer

Does anyone know of a driver that would support dot matrix printing?

Please provide some additional details. Are you looking for a printer driver that would accept Okidata format and print it on a laser printer because you have a legacy application that only supported this format?  What operating system are you using?

  • Help with HP Laser Printer 1200se

    HP Support Line,
Really need your assistance.  I have tried both contacting HP by phone (told they no longer support our printer via phone help), the tech told me that I needed to contact HP by e-mail for assistance.   I then sent an e-mail for assistance and got that reply today, the reply is as follows  "Randall, unfortunately, HP does not offer support via e-mail for your product.  However many resources are available on the HP web site that may provide the answer to your inquiry.  Support is also available via telephone.  A list of technical support numbers can be round at the following URL........."  The phone numbers listed are the ones I called and the ones that told me I needed to contact the e-mail support for help.
So here I am looking for your help with my issue.
We just bought a new HP Pavillion Slimline Desk Top PC (as our 6 year old HP Pavillion PC died on us).  We have 2 HP printers, one (an all-in-one type printer, used maily for copying and printing color, when needed) is connected and it is working fine with the exception of the scanning option (not supported by Windows 7).  However we use our Laser Printer for all of our regular prining needs.  This is the HP LaserPrinter 1200se, which is about 6 years old but works really well.  For this printer we currently only have a parallel connection type cord and there is not a parallel port on the Slimline HP PC.  The printer also has the option to connedt a USB cable (we do not currently have this type of cable).
We posed the following two questions:
    1.  Is the Laser Jet 1200se compatible with Windows 7?
and if this is the case
    2.  Can we purchase either a) a USC connection cord (generic or do we need a printer specific cord)? or b) is there there a printer cable converter adapater to attach to our parallel cable to convert to a USB connection?
We do not want to purchase the USB cable if Windows 7 will not accept the connection, or if doing this will harm the PC.
We really would appreciate any assitance that you might give us.
    Thank you,
    Randy and Leslie Gibson

Sorry, both cannot be enabled by design.  That said, devices on a network do not care how others are connected.  You can print from a wireless connection to a wired (Ethernet) printer and v/v.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • Help with Brother Laser Print/Fax

My printer is mac compatible. I just got the new airport extreme and would like to use my brother laser print/fax via usb. it's not working and on top of it my print utilities application is missing. any advice? thx

Just in case you missed it - double check to make sure your Brother does not have an ethernet (CAT5) jack on the back.
I have 4 Brother printers or AIO units, and they all have that connection, and are all Bonjour compatible. Even my cheapie $99 AIO color inkjet.
If you do have the jack, just plug in to the AEBS with an ethernet cable, and you may even find that it supports "scan or fax over network", in addition to being able to do all the other advanced functions.

  • CMYK and RGB with a laser printer

I'm using ID CS2 and a Konica Minolta bizhub C353P printer.
I was supplied with a pdf artwork file by a customer. I believe it's CMYK, but am not sure, as Document Properties in Acrobat doesn't give that information. Firstly, is there a simple way of checking whether a pdf file is CMYK or RGB?
I placed the pdf artwork into ID and printed the indd file, but found that the colours were not quite correct. So I imported the original pdf file into Photoshop and changed it from CMYK to RGB. I then saved it as a tiff file and placed it back in the indd file. The colours now printed correctly. Next question - is there a better way of converting a pdf file from CMYK to RGB and vice versa?
When I printed the indd file the print driver would only allow me to print in Composite RGB - Composite CMYK and all the other options were greyed out. However, if I printed to Acrobat, Composite CMYK and the other options were available. Now as I'm printing to a CMYK laser printer, I would have thought it better to print in Composite CMYK. Am I correct?
And can anyone suggest why the printer driver won't allow it?

here are some useful operations by Professional Acrobat 7:
How to analyze image color spaces in a PDF:
Tools > Print Production > Preflight > Digital Press (Color) >
    Execute > Overview > Images.
How to convert images in a PDF (here DeviceCMYK to sRGB):
Tools > Print Production > Convert Colors > Device CMYK:
Convert > Profile > sRGB > Embed as Output Profile > Execute
IMO there is no choice for an input CMYK profile.
I don't know whether embedded profiles (not to be expected
for CMYK) or a global Output Intent are honoured.
How to edit images without loading the whole PDF in
    Photoshop (which would rasterize everything):
Tools > Advanced Editing > TouchUp Object Tool > Right Mouse
Click on Image > Edit Image > (Opens Image in PhS) >
Edit here > Save > Close (Shows PDF with modified Image) >
    Save As by new name.

  • I cannot print with HP Laser Jet Professional P 1102w

I was using Windows XP on the first hard disk of my computer. I could use your Laser Jet with this Operation System. But the difficulties with Windows XP are growing and I want to Install a newer Windows Operating System ???- On the second hard disk of my computer I am using Linux Ubuntu. I tried in vain to use your printer with the Linux Ubuntu system. Therefore I want to use your printer by sending the data to be printed as attachment of an E-Mail with ePrint .
    But by now I get:
    SERVER ERROR
Oops! Something just went wrong with our server.
    Try refreshing the page. ???

    Hello there @Frielinghaus !
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!
I can see you experiencing some server issues when trying to setup the ePrint feature on your LaserJet P1102w printer.  I should be able to provide some help with that!
The first thing to check when troubleshooting any LaserJet printer is to confirm it is plugged into the wall directly and not a power surge protector.  The next thing to check is to ensure the printer has the most up to date firmware version.  I can provide a link to the download for the Laserjet P1102w firmware update for Windows XP.  When running a firmware update on the printer it must be plugged in temporarily with the USB cable.
For the firmware update click here: Firmware update for HP Laserjet P1102w.
If you are still experiencing the server connection issue when trying to enable ePrint then you may be able to change the DNS server the printer is using!
    To change the DNS:
    1. Access the printers Embedded Web Server (EWS) by typing its IP address in the address bar of the web browser.
    2. Once connected to the EWS click the Network Tab at the top of the window.
    3. Click "IPV4 configuration" on the left side.
    4. Click Manual IP.
    5. Under DNS address configuration enter the New DNS server.
    6. For preferred DNS address enter "8.8.8.8".
    7. For Alternate DNS address enter "8.8.4.4".
    8. Press apply and try connecting to ePrint again!
Please post back and let me know if this worked for you!

  • Problems printing with  HP laser jet 5M and Snow Leopard

    Hello,
Since In installed Snow Leopard on my mac I can no longer print with my HP laser jet 5M.
I know this is because Appletalk is no longer supported, and that I should use the laser jet as IP printer. However, I couldn't figure out how to assign an IP address to the printer. It seems I can't do this by the config menus of the printer. I read somwhere it is possible to do this by terminal (telnet) but I am not familiar with unix.
Can anybody help me to solve this problem?
    many thanks
    Marcello

  • Replaced the old Airport, with Airport Extreme - printer refuses to work, even when hardwired?

    Sledge hammer?
Went to utilities, went to preferences, made sure the connection was good.... worked with the old Airport Express. Why not now?
I've tried a direct link - cable port from computer to printer. And from Printer to wireless...

Found it! Add printer, even if it's listed. Add it and suddenly it's there. Wow.

  • Cannot get reports printed on a laser printer

I installed a new laser printer on the PC with Lookup loaded on it. Lookout does not recognized the printer attached to the LPT port. Windows XP is the OS and it prints a test page with no problem as does the other programs on the PC. The only printer it communicates with is a dot-matrix printer. There is a printer key (dongle) attached to the PC. Is the dongle/key specific to the type of printer that is attached? Is the dongle/key necessary for the Lookout program?

For older versions (Georgetown era),  AND in only certain countries Lookout did require dongles.  I am guessing NI did away with them in recent years.  (Wouldn't the next logical step be to open the source up, eh?    )
